Coverage gaps lead to that sort of thing happening in some areas of the map since an outnumbered force has to prioritize and drop less important objectives but even during “weak hours” all three t1 servers will be zealously guarding their primary objectives such as waypointed keeps and t2-3 towers so it’s not like anyone ever gets to go completely unopposed in t1.

It seems to me that JQ is a server that once upon a time was as good as they thought they were. SOR is a server that generally tends to be as good as they think they are. Sadly BG is a server that has never been, isn’t and likely will never be as good as they think they are.

I’ve been on the top server before ticking 600 against zero resistance and it’s no fun. How long before SoR gets bored? because even with a new match up for them… there won’t be much better competition than BG/JQ. It’s the curse of being the top server. SoS saw it, JQ saw it. Now, SoR folks are starting to see it. There’s nothing special about being first when you have twice as many players even in prime time…

Let’s see if they can survive the death spiral!

Fortunately for us, if i’m not mistaken we’ve never come close to ticking 600 ppt at any point in time during our match up history. Until then, our boredom will have to stay in check i guess.

In regards to competition, if you meant in terms of topping the scoreboard, then yea; only BG/JQ(as far as we know) are SoR’s only competition. But as far as battling in the borderlands vs. other Guilds from other servers, i’m sure the majority of the guilds from any server who reads this will say “Yea, we’d love to fight SoR and give them a run for their money!” I’m sure we’d love to fight the NA guilds from TC(PiNK, TV, etc.) again. Those guys definitely competed back when we were in T2 despite the huge coverage gap at the time. And i’m sure there are other like-minded guilds from other servers. We just haven’t had the privilege to greet them on the battlefield.

What I don’t understand is, how the hell is SoR not Full, but JQ which seems to have a lower population in WvW atleast, is ALWAYS full? Are there just that many people on JQ that are PvE focused? Plus I hear people saying that JQ doesn’t have huge population outside of NA yet it is full 24/7.. Not sure if it is a bug or what, but it doesn’t seem right to me.. Ahhhh! :<

We are fortunate to have numerous and committed group of active WvW players, though we have our fair share of pvx and pve only population.

Some have stated that there are certain times throughout the day where JQ will not be full.

1) Where abouts did you get this information of IRON bringing over 200(i assume you meant 200 wvw only members)? I hope it wasn’t from exaggerated troll posts on this forum.

2) Being the only EU guild on SoR hardly constitutes the term “overstacked”. IIRC WM plays on the EU timeslot for BG to cover that zone. Apparently they haven’t been on much lately. Atleast during EU time if i’m not mistaken.

Actually HB is an EU guild in BG and were here long before IRON. Though they haven’t been running as an organized guild much since the first time BG took first place in T1 i believe. Could be wrong.

Forgive me if i’m wrong, but didn’t SF originally want to or considered transferring to SoR from SBI? Jed and Miasmic were good buddies during CDS time in SBI running with SF. What kept them from transferring here was the fact that SoR’s NA was full and didn’t want to put their members in queues during prime time.

Since you know what you’re looking for, may i suggest getting a dev to just close this thread and do what you need to do to make your final decision. This thread has went from servers selling themselves to servers discrediting servers. It’ll just continue to go downhill. While i wouldn’t go so far as to tell you not to listen to anyone, i will however, suggest to get past the trollage and take what’s been said with a grain of salt. In the end, you guys know better than anyone from any server what’s best for your guild.

in Asia time, we [SAHP] and [NYS] from SBI came to SOR about 4 month ago.
(I think [TSYM] and [HIRE] was join on same time ? they play little early, so I saw them less.)

at that time, we only had about 10-15ppl, NYS about 20-25. and that time, SOR’s asia time (you called SEAtime right ?) is almost empty.

NA guilds need get up early to cover SEA time, or need play until 3-4am to cover oceanic time.
I usually saw [CHOO] and [OCX][SEC] in our time, but we not have much ppl.

at that time, SAHP even not a main wvw guild, our member only have 2-3 hours can play in game every day, NYS same too , their PVE members more than WVW.

[AFS] come to SOR about 1~2 month ago. they love defend bl, that’s really helpful. so much thanks to them, they did great job.

every night, we started from + 50 ~ + 100, and happy we no let the ppt become zero LOL.
I brush my teeth before going to bed ,watching PPT gone (with my sieges T_T) every day.

And now, [IRON]come to SOR, we can sleep on time.

We have considered giving up, when we always be wiped by huge zerg, lost all of keep every night, login and saw enemy T3 keep on SOR bl.

But NA guilds gave us a lot of support.

and thanks to FEAR’s friends teach us how to play wvw.

Yes, we need more people join wvw, but we also need strong community to make every member feel we are a family.

SOR, its great you got a chance to win now. But don’t gloat too much. Your not making more friends by being bad winners. Just enjoy your wins. Its only a matter of time before the next bandwagon movements make a difference. Its been happening in WvW since day 1. It will continue to happen no matter how much you tell yourselfs otherwise. And at the end of the day do you want you server and/or your guilds to be remembered as the guys that took winning with some graciousness or the ones that were terrible big mouths when they finally got their win?

Agreed. Unfortunately there will be those who will choose to think the latter, whether it’s out of animosity thanks to our forum trolls, or some other reason. I do believe that the majority of the server are choosing to be gracious winners. Whether others agree or not, we believe we’ve reaped what we’ve sowed and are enjoying the fruit of our labor. It’s just unfortunate that those who aren’t enjoying it humbly are the most vocal ones in this forum.

SOR had a good showing this week. They had more numbers at certain times which is understandable when you are pushing for first place for the first time. Some of their main guilds may have not put in “overtime” but some of their pve population which didnt seem existent last week (didn’t even think SOR had one lol) showed up. That being said, alot of even number fights they won too. I remember someone in voice complaining about their blob as an excuse for losing fights (we had a que on the map).

Coming from Kaineng, i remember reading the t1 thread and people talking about how they couldn’t wait for Kaineng to come up and replace SOR (L2glicko/math). I think we need to praise SOR for their resilience in T1. Great fights this week and keep it classy guys!

Yeah there is definitely no love lost between BG and SoR, but I think the majority, with a few exceptions, have cooled down about it. There were several factors involved, but in the end I think it boiled down to both servers being very competitive, having overextended egos, and an almost unhealthy amount of server pride. Each server couldn’t stand reading something they didn’t agree with, and lashed back in some form of defense. I think a lot of it was also based on both servers going into the very first match thinking they were better than each other. There was no groundwork for some initial mutual respect, and any chance at building that groundwork wkittentered early on due to some unfortunate events that transpired at Bay.

To me, what transpired over those 8 weeks is in the past, but yes, BG and SoR will be definitely be gunning for each other if we ever meet again. I just hope reports of the confrontations can stay respectful on the forums. Sadly, I don’t think the odds of that are very good heh. But I’ve been wrong many times before, and will be many times more.

If/When we’ll meet up with BG again, both servers will not be the same as they were during their stint in T2. Therefore SoR/BG 2.0 will be hungry to see how we fair against each other.

As far as “civility” on the forums go, it’s just a matter of which forum PvPer(s) from either server takes the plunge and posts some passive aggressive jab at the other server after an eventful showdown of some sort. As slight as it may be, one just has to read between the lines to find that slight jab and it’ll snowball from there. Perhaps even rehashing old kitten posts from the past.

If they move to JQ or SoR (two servers with already big numbers) then its a weak move. But I hear its BG and those guys were a pretty good bunch to fight.

Despite our recent transfers, imho i wouldn’t say we have big numbers per se. Our members are still putting in overtime in wvw day in and out to maintain a decent ppt like we did pre transfers. I’d also say that BG(atleast the current one) has the numbers to rival.

First your tone and manner of response are appreciated and respected.

It’s true from my perspective the current situation simply is what it is. But to game the system to intentionally stay in a lopsided match in order to bolster your own defenses/organization/population …. is not one i would or could ever see TC intentionally opting to do. So while i can appreciate your honesty and your intentions to bolster your server if even at the expense of the wvw enjoyment (to a degree) of the populations of the other two servers in the match. I cannot say i “appreciate” it or that it is a decision I/we would have chosen if given the same opportunity.

Some servers would have no problem doing the same thing, some would.

So yes i entirely believe you and your intentions for staying in T2 another week. I still find it (without using insulting terms…) disagreeable at best.

I hear you guys(Bannok/Lauren). I agree its sucks to have to put up with the current no fun uneven match up. Unfortunately the WvW rating system hasnt caught up with the recent multi-server transfers. In due time, the heavily populated servers will eventually be matched up with each other and there will be more or less even numbers/coverage in most if not every tier. Maguuma and Kaineng are eager to join the numbers game, so we’ll have 2 tiers with the 6 most populated servers(SoS, JQ, BG, SoR, Kaineng, Maguuma) together.

On a side note, I’m not sure why SoR as a server is getting flack for our recent surge in numbers as if we committed a sin. Yes, we did get a lot of transfers, but the flack we’re getting gives off the impression like we stole something. Yes the numbers have helped tremendously. But it only really helped us get from 2nd in tier 2 to way ahead in 1st in tier 2. Not from lets say 2nd in Tier 8 to way ahead in 1st in tier 2.

It’s posts like this that give BG more reason to post jabs at us. I know it’s been said before, but i hope BG understands and agrees that some of “SoR’s forum posters” do not represent the attitude and mindset of the SoR community.

In reply to this post, no one should fault BG for their strong Oceanic/EU coverage. Kudos to them for being fortunate enough to have that in their possession. Does this make it wrong? No. Does that mean that SoR in this case is a better server? I think i can speak for all 3 servers when i say HECK NO. SoR, BG, and TC are very skilled servers in their own right. Otherwise we wouldn’t be tier 2.

Unfortunately, this advantage that BG has, has been used by some SoR posters as a means to degrade the skill of the server and down-play their score. This advantage is also used by some BG posters to flaunt a supposed superiority to the other servers to degrade their skill and down-play the score as well.

BG. You guys are a great fight. I’ve seen you hold you own during SoR/TC prime time. Do what you need to do in order to achieve your T1 goal. Keep doin what you’re doing. I as well as the rest of SoR will do what we need to do to get to T1 as well. We’re just a couple steps behind(not skill wise, but coverage). TC, welcome to T2. You guys are just as great a fight as BG.
