Praxium – PRXM and The Gunnar’s Hold Community
www.praxium.co.uk and www.gunnars-hold.eu
I’ve just read the whole of this thread and wanted to say thanks to Stephen for spending so much time looking at our problems in WvW.
Also – This made me laugh :-)
That went really well. Tiny bit of spell lag. Now I’m dead and people are dancing on my anet corpse.
This level of interaction from Anet is great to see and is really appreciated!
Oh yes. In answer to the question, store updates will be coming out soon, but likely not today.
Again, thanks for your patience!
What are you doing up at this hour?!? :o
I’m in Brighton, England, for meetings with my EU team members. Then on to EGX Rezzed in London Thursday through Saturday.
Looking forward to saying hello to you on Saturday! :-)
Make sure you save a Charr Plushie/Mini llama code/Chinese dragon code/Heart of Thorns T-Shirt (delete as appropriate) for me! (I can dream!)

It’s so very sad to hear of this loss. Eris was well respected in the game, and I know he will be greatly missed by everyone who knew him or knew of his generous spirit.
The tribute was a truly lovely moment, and deeply moving. What a great testimonial to your love and respect for your guildmate and friend.
Thank you for sharing this with us. Sincere condolences to his friends and family.
Gaile,
Thank you so much for this reply. It would have meant so much to Eris who played GuildWars since the GW1 betas and used to run around Lion’s Arch with you leading the conga.
(edited by Hengis.5417)
The turnout last night was amazing. We filled the map with a 35 man queue of people still waiting to get in and everyone on the map was there for the service. 85 people were stacked for a “supply info” count!
We walked from Citadel to his favourite location – The south vista in Garrison, led by his best friend Padmay De.
And we spelt out his name on the map – something we had not planned that just happened spontaneously.
It could not have been a better or more fitting tribute.
Thank you to all who attended.
Tributes were paid on TS and in chat- Trebs and catapults were built and fired in his honour.
Here is a link to a video of the main parts of the service that was kindly filmed for us. I just cried again when I watched it.
Eris – Players Versus Everything [PvE]
It is with deep regret that we wish to inform you of the death of one of Gunnar’s Hold WvW longest serving and most respected players.
Eris died suddenly at the age of 43 on Monday 24th November 2014.
Eris has played Guildwars since the beta of GW1 moving to GW2 in pre-release.
The offices and members of PvE and his alternate guild Praxium [PRXM] are devastated by this terrible and sudden news.
We have made a donation to the charity chosen by his family on behalf of the guild and the server.
His funeral took place today and an in game service will be held starting at Garrison on the Gunnar’s Hold WvW map this evening at 8pm UK time.
We intend to fire a treb salute in his honour.
The Gunnar’s Hold WvW community respectfully request that our WvW opponents this week (Millers Sound and Arborstone) please avoid combat with mourners on the Gunnars Hold border for approximately 15 minutes between 20:00 and 20:15 UK Time this evening.
Everyone is welcome to attend – please wear pink or bright colours and bring your pink (purple) tag.
Rest in Peace Eris. We will miss you.

Yes, we care about the forums. We also care about all the classes equally.
Then could we respectfully request an explanation of what the changes are supposed to be aiding/addressing, as done frequently when large skill change patches were made in GW1?
Because at the moment, it is hard to comprehend why many of the changes made to the ranger were considered necessary (in my case, particularly in pve).
Having put in the effort to make the Dreamer, I’m feeling particularly confused and dismayed that it’s purpose has been changed – it no longer fills the purpose of long-range weapon, nor does enough damage to fill the purpose of melee weapon…so to use the weapon I spent months crafting I now have to sacrifice the utility of one of my weapon swaps…
What this guy says. Trade me my dreamer for another legendary weapon that may be useful on ranger. Thinking something melee. Worked so hard all to have it jacked to hell.
Agree with both of these. I would never have crafted The Dreamer with the current shortbow range. I doubt I will ever be able to afford another legendary as I got incredibly lucky to get this one – so now I am stuck with a legendary weapon that is worthless.
Also – when I joined my WvW focused guild we had six or seven people playing ranger every night in a group of 25 – Last night I was the only ranger left. Everyone else has rolled other classes and put their ranger on the shelf. I think I am only playing mine because of the time, effort and gold I have invested in it, not because I am really enjoying it any more.
Gunnars Hold (20) vs Riverside (10) vs Piken Square (8)
Yep.. that works NOT!
This has to be wrong – or it looks like GH will all be doing PvE this week.
you could have done that better praxium!
we got 4 dollys out :P
Absolutely loved that fight!
After 20 minutes or so it kinda stopped being about taking the camp, or stopping the dollys and just turned into a war of attrition – You coming from your spawn, Dz running away and then ressing their mates when we engaged you, and us trying not to be the filling in a RoS/Dz sandwich!
45 minutes of great fun on voice comms too.
Not sure if I should tell you that after we left the camp and went to the next tower, Messyi, our commander for the night, asked us if we all had supply – the answer wasn’t necessarily “yes” LOL!
Thanks to all concerned!
All in all a very fun night indeed.
Baby you know you’re the only one <3
all its good until she find you, kill you (twice) and put her entire guild to /sit on you
Well, Aisi and Feras were chatting the other night whilst Praxium were running round EB. Feras had stopped in exactly the wrong place to answer one message and the entire Praxium group steamrollered over him before we really knew who it was.. (oops!)
Aisi would never let us /sit though. She gets very annoyed by that sort of thing. We did make one exception a few matches back for some guy with the guid tag [SOFA] – everybody sat on him.. but what did he expect with that tag? ;-)
Lol, a guy from PRXM talking ‘bout fariness :-)
lol’ed so hardLet me get this straight.
You are accusing us of your bugged keep?
You are accusing us for attacking your towers?
Exactly what are you doing?
This is the guy who has still not forgiven the fact that he got ganked in the JP by three PRXM over a month ago – despite an apology at the time and an apology from our Guild Leader in this thread where she says that those concerned had been spoken to advised that this is not how we play.
Thanks for the suggestion.
Yes – there was a height difference:
Inner Bay south supply hut roof vs Bay south gate top of wall – but we’ve fought that sort of fight many times and I don’t think it is enough to account for the speed difference.
Thanks for the idea though – I might even set up a couple of trebs later just to test it and make sure.
Here’s a treb related question for anyone who might have an answer:
We fought a treb battle last night against a group that “seemed” to be able to fire their treb at about twice the normal rate.
I’ve been WvWing daily for 8 months and never seen anything like it.
I definitely didn’t imagine it as others were commenting on it too.
Do guild trebs fire faster?
Is there any other way of making a treb fire that fast?
I’m 99% sure it was only one treb (not two built on top of each other).
Just very curious that’s all.
Thanks
you’ll never be able to buy ascended items for badges.
1) badges are kitten easy to get on high tiers, this is so you can buy lots of siege.
2) waaaay too many people are stuffed senseless with badges and are too selfish too buy lots of siege and want rewards for themselves, aka ascended items. It’s not ever going to happen, and you can quote me on it
Will do.
I don’t think I have ever seen two words that are more full of win than these two!
Brilliant!
Respect to the warrior from AS who accidentally glitched through the horribly bugged door at Sunny last night during one of the attacks there – He ran straight up the stairs and jumped out again without hitting anything. Well played my friend!
And Anet – please fix those doors so honest players are not put in the position of accidentally finding themselves on the inside of the tower.
Had an absolute blast this evening running around EB with PRXM. We ninja’s SM – then got wiped ^^, had a load of wonderful fights with SWAT again!, VcY, and lots of other fun people.
Congratulations to Insky who was leading PRXM tonight for some really great calls.. one of which was “Don’t fight these guys!” – and so we ended the evening with a three way dance party with Dz and RoS :-))
Thanks to everyone concerned!!
nicely done guys
And here are the results of the late kickoff:
Stockport County 580 : Dzagonar 0
This my friend is genius!
And this bit in particular really made me laugh out loud:
““Anyway, maybe things aren’t as lopsided as you think. Remember at kick off? You guys held the ball for a whole minute without conceding a goal!”
Really very nicely done indeed!
Saw one last night that made me laugh:
Sinister Looking Eyebrow [SLE]
I think it was the fact that the eyebrow only “looked” sinister that made me laugh.. (It’s really a very nice eyebrow – it just looks sinister).
Thanks for saying it for me!
Jeah well having a late Shift on Friday and early Shift on Saturday there is no way i will be there. If the matchup should change that would be sad But well we will see ^^
We fought hard for that RoF Camp, really nice Fight in my opinion.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EZ9nCxoKakY
Very nice little skirmish from both sides! – I’ve linked the video on the Gunnar’s-Hold forum so SOE will get to see it.
As per your Guild Tag – We at Praxium have tried not to feed you the last couple of weeks – but I think we fed you more than a few loot bags :-)
I am sure we will be meeting again soon!
Looks like the end of this particular 3-way match up is approaching.
I would like to congratulate everyone who took part in the 350 posts/10,000 views on this thread without it turning into a flame war or troll fest – great job!
I’ve had a lot of fun this last few weeks.
I’ve commanded Praxium on a few evenings both to glorious victory, and not so glorious defeat – taken part in some great captures and defenses of towers and keeps, as well as getting seriously spanked on occasions by some very well organised groups from both servers.
Had a lot of fun with a few individual players from both servers who it almost feels we have got to know, even though we have never exchanged a word.
All in all this has been one of my favourite matches during the 7 months I’ve played WvW seriously.
Looking forward to a new week and a new reset time!
It’s been lots of fun this week- not too zergy and fairly well balanced. There have been some great fights where the outcome has changed repeatedly with flanking, feints, charges, use of siege and all the other stuff that’s so much more fun than those unbalanced steamroller fights.
QFT – Had a lot of fun this week with fights where we didn’t know if we were going to win or wipe right up until the mement it actually happened.
Good sportsmanship all round too!
Thanks for the fun guys.

May I congratulate FSP on their take of GH Bay yesterday evening.
This was some of the best co-ordinated play I have seen in my five months of playing WvW on GH.
Your defence of the trebs at Briar was fast and deadly and your first mesmer portal in through the broken wall was superb.
We’ve been fighting several weeks now, but this felt like you had stepped up your play to a whole new level.
I’m not sure how your turtle was surviving the siege we had up.. we just could not kill you.
Serious question – Were you running specific builds? If so – any chance of a few hints?
Once again congratulations – you really did spoil my evening ;-)
Hengis
Dear AM
Please can you ask your dead mesmer who took off his guild tag and armour at the Water Gate at Gunnars Hold Dreaming Bay and who is waiting there for a res from outside the gate to respawn and not to use exploits.
Many thanks.
Hengis
Edit – He is now switching his armour on and off to avoid the inactivity time out.
(edited by Hengis.5417)
Was fun holding back some FS from brair on GH borderland, withme being from AG.
A real shame that that team had to resort to getting their ranger to glitch their pets onto the wall to attack me whilst I was on an arrow cart; which of course didnt work.
A greater shame that when they came back with more people and using their breakout, the same ranger resorted to glitching his pets again!
This isn’t a glitch, it’s actually a trait that rangers can grant themselves which allows their pets to climb vertical surfaces
Actually it is a skill called Guard:
http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/%22Guard%22
This is an AoE pet utility skill that gives a circular ground targeting area with a 1200 range – If you can get the centre of that target on the edge of a tower wall the pet will climb the wall. It will then only attack targets that you can get a Line of Sight to – so things too high up or too far back, on a different level, or out of Line of Sight still can’t be targetted.
This skill has been discussed in numerous threads on the ranger forum and here on the WvW forum – so Anet have had plenty of opportunity to say that it is not working as intended. I even started one thread on this myself and the consensus was “working as intended”
The same skill can be used to send pets down from battlements to attack players outside, again depending on how high up you are.
It’s probably the most fun ranger skill there is tbh!
Hengis
Queues are definitely bugged no matter what tier your are in. At about 7.30pm GMT yesterday I logged in and FSP had a queue on every border. I didn’t enter the queue and literally 1 minute later I tried it again and got in straight away to MS border. On that border we had about 25 players altogether. It’s something that needs fixing asap as it could influence the outcome of a matchup.
I agree – the queues are bugged everywhere.
When I logged on last night also at about 7:30pm (GMT), I logged on to the Gunnar’s Mumble first and was told we had the outmanned buff on our own borderlands – I tried to log in but had to queue for 20 minutes!
When I eventually got in, we no longer had the outmanned buff, but if we had more than 30 people on the entire borderlands I would be surprised and people were still saying in Mumble that they were queuing to get in!
Something is very wrong with the queues and it really does need to be fixed.
On the subject of the match:
Great match all round – clean and fair and tough.
Respect to FSP and MS.
Huge respect to RoF and WSR.
Thanks for the past few weeks of really great fights.
I know you have both struggled this week, but you didn’t give up and still made me surrender many a loot bag from my squishy ranger.
The two weeks previously though were probably the best fights I have had in 5 months of WvW.
Most of all though – thanks for the great sportsmanship.
Good luck on the battlefield and I hope we get to meet again at a more balanced level.
Hengis
You honestly do have my sympathy.
Tiers should sort themselves out again soon – at least I hope they do.
If you didn’t know, you can look at the projected scores and the potential matchups for next week here:
http://mos.millenium.org/matchups
And – no matter how bad it looks, don’t give up. I’ve played WvWat Gunnar’s for getting on for five months and the week before last was the first week that I have played in which we didn’t lose!
Only a WvW player keeps refreshing MOS Matchups whilst at work!
I am another player from a tiny guild where only I play WvW regularly.
Finding the community forum and the community Mumble channel was a real eye opener for me. I can now log in to the Mumble channel and immediately get into a group if I want to where we are all on voice comms.
I can take an active part in the big WvW events that we are organising on an almost daily basis and I have even put forward ideas and plans for our WvW efforts and events that have all been given as much consideration as those plans made by our biggest guilds.
Being a member of the community forum and Mumble is like being a part of a 500+ member Guild! We all play together, we co-ordinate, we create balanced teams, and above all we have a huge amount of fun with none of the drama of big egos.
If you are a WvWer on Gunnars Hold, please come and join us. It will change your whole outlook on WvW. It did mine! – I only went to WvW for map completion, saw a map chat message advertising the forum and haven’t been back to PvW since!
I’ve been a gamer for 25+ years and this really is the best fun I have had in that whole time.
As far as transfering, we have had multiple invites from GH by now, and thank you for the consideration. At this point we are not really considering a transfer, and will see how things will turn out for the weeks to come. We probably will take the chance of dropping yet again a tier in a week or so, to start working on better (counter)tactics, and coordination with other (new?) guilds, when we don’t have to worry about getting hammered whereever we go ;D
I have had a great week in WvW this week with WSR being the biggest surprise in my opinion. You guys fought us for every point!
I really hope that the influx of players to Vabbi: (See here: https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/pvp/wuvwuv/Join-New-Vabbi-WvW-focused-alliance) does not mess up the balance in the lower tier too much, but I fear it will.
I you find that the balance is not what you hope and that you are not enjoying your time in WvW because of it, then please do come and visit us on the Gunnars Hold community forum.

Beaten to a soggy third by sheer weight of numbers, disappointing end to the week
WSR should feel justifiably proud of their performance this week. I think we at Gunnars were expecting WSR to be the easy points this week, and you have FAR from been that. I also don’t think you should give up the fight for second place just yet!
I’ve only been playing WvW since early October, but this has been my favourite match up to date, and not just because it looks like we might actually win.
The fights have been generally well matched, often three way and also very hard fought. I have seen little of the enormous map-stomping zergs that we have had to fight the last few months, but instead seen lots of three way fights where the outcome has always been in doubt. There has also been hardly and sign of any form of cheating or hacking – unlike a few other matches that I won’t mention.
This match has been very important in the re-building of Gunnars Hold. We have re-organised, worked on our communications, worked on our tactics, and this is finally starting to have an effect.
Not only do we have some great WvW guilds – but our small guilds and more and more of our individual players are getting on the community Mumble voice comms and getting organised into groups and being given group objectives. – We had around 60+ people on the community mumble last night (not huge numbers by higher tier standards I know) as well as the bigger guilds also using their own TS/Vent etc.
All in all a pretty good week so far for Gunnars Hold.
Thanks for the fights!!
Hengis

So, in WvW – if you us the pet skill “guard” and target an area of the battlements of a tower etc, the pet will climb the walls and attack enemy players there.
Is this a legitimate use of the skill (as it uses AoE targetting just like barrage), or could it be considered a glitch, bug or exploit.
Just want to make sure.
Thanks.
Not exactly a guild looking for members, but a whole community looking for new guilds and new players.
Come and visit us at www.gunnars-hold.eu
We have an active community forum and a free Mumble voice chat server.
In the Mumble channel you can create your own sub channels for your guild or for a dungeon run etc.
We are particularly looking for new people to come and join our WvW efforts.
We might not be the highest ranked server in the EU but we have a huge amount of fun. The Mumble chat is particularly active in the evenings (european time) between around 7pm and 1am with ad-hoc groups being formed for WvW mayhem. You don’t even need to be in a Guild to join in as we form groups within Mumble. (We also have several active PVE/WvW/PvX Guild actively recruiting through the community forum)
Everybody is welcome – we can even arrange WvW training sessions for new players and we promise to value every one who joins us.
Come and sign up on our forum for more info.
www.gunnars-hold.eu
A very nice post that not only PVEr’s should read! There is a lot of info here that is also useful to people new to WvW PvP!
One slight mistake – The jumping puzzles reset every day not every week. This means you could do all three borderlands and the EB each day if you so wish. This actually means you could obtain as many as 25 badges a day just from the jumping puzzles. Also top and bottom key halves obtained in one borderland also work in other borderlands, so you could for example obtain the top half in the red borderland and the bottom half in the blue borderland and then open the green borderland vault.
Hopefully some of the people who have a look found WvW might find that they like it.
I actually only initially went in to WvW to get map completion and then found myself addicted to it and have hardly been back to PvE since!
Regards,
Hengis
Another fabulous fight yesterday nichgt at our bay! We tried a new tactic and it works ;-) Thanks to GH to force me run and port like a angry chicken around my homelands to find your small terrorgroups and stop them.
Thanks for the fun last night! You defended well and gave us a great series of fights at your Bay outer and inner gates.
I was in one of the two ninja groups running around capping your camps and banging on the doors of your towers and keeps – it was fun trying to guess where you thought we would go next and then trying to go somewhere else :-)
I have had a lot of fun with this match. A particular shout out to two of your guys who invited me to their party after a rather epic underwater fight in the water at Bay on Sunday night where we were were all downed at some point and got several rallies between us – this was a great little fight and very sporting behaviour. :-)
Have a great Christmas everyone.

Yet another who spoke to Tixx in The Mists first. A guild mate told me about the chest in LA, so I ported to The Mists to take the gate to LA, but then saw Tixx in The Mists too.. so I spoke to him there and got a usless PVP reward that I will never use. And of course when I get to LA and try and talk to him he says “only one gift per person”.. grrrrr!!!
Please let us use both chests!
I will echo the post above by Tichai:
Don’t believe all you have read here about Gunnars-Hold.
I am relatively new to WvW (about 2 months) – but in that time have had an enormous amount of fun playing on the Gunnars-Hoold server.
We have an active community forum (www.gunnars-hold.eu); a server wide Mumble chat server for WvW that has a great core community, and the core of our WvW guilds and players are skilled and dedicated.
If you are looking for a challange and want to join a server where you CAN make a difference, please come and visit our forum and talk to our leaders and organisers.

During my map completion, I wandered aimlessely around WvWvW not having a clue what I was doing or why. Then about three or four weeks ago, when trying to get the last couple of places I needed, someone on Gunnars advertised the Gunnars-Hold form and mumble.
I don’t know what made me do it, but I joined the forum, set up the voice chat, and started initially just listening to what was going on.
To be honest, since then I have hardly set foot back in PVE!
There are some incredibly good players on Gunnars Hold, and if you can get on the forum and on the mumble, things really do start to make sense and to become much more fun.
I have learnt so much about WvWvW – escorting dolyaks, running supplies, holding keeps, ninja attacks with small groups, defending in Lords room agains overwhelming opposition, befriending the Quaggans, setting up siege of the right kind in the right place, distracting attention in one place whilst attacking another, Mesmer portals, and a million other things that rarely included running with the Zerg.
Fighting against overwhelming odds has pretty much been normal in the time I have been playing – and to be honest, it doesnt matter!
I’ve now got over 1000 WvW kills (OK I know its a tiny amount compared to the good players but it made me feel good when that notification popped up) got the Combat Healer title, and had generally had a great time playing with some really nice people.
If you are looking for a server where new players to WvW will be welcomed not ridiculed, helped to learn, and valued, then please consider coming to Gunnars Hold and joining our forum.
I really do think Gunnars Hold will endure and will rise again.
