Hmmm… it seems from a lot of posts i am reading in different threads A “i am in a beta test” bandwagon has been jumped on…lol…i expect a lot of this until some new form of negativity arises. Thank you Anet for a wonderful game and the hard work you are putting into it. Keep up the good work (oh and by the way the “seems i am in a beta test” is common amongst all new games forums released recently)
All? Starcraft 2 is the most previous PC game I played, and it came with a high amount of polish. Yes, ok, this is an MMO, I’ll give it more leeway. But there are certain things that have slipped through QA that completely astound me.
Here is an example. Necromancers at release had a trait that didn’t work. Greater Marks. The staff for the necromancer has 4 mark abilities. Yet only 2 of them were properly affected by Greater Marks. Why? This goes beyond ‘encountering a bug that is unforseen’. It feels more like the development team designed an ability and made no attempt to follow up to ensure it worked at its most basic level.
Per (hopefully) bolded section: Surely you jest, sir.
Elaborate.
Well, aside from the verification issue, the driver issue, and the fact that the updater wouldn’t patch?
My burned up graphics card would like a word with your ‘perfect’ SC2.

Thanks Anet. You’ve given me another community I can chuckle at.
Also, I enjoy the game.
While I agree that the forums are overly negative, being positive for no good reason isn’t any better.
You thanked Anet when you bought their product. Allowing them to keep their jobs is thanks enough for many of them, I imagine.
Well said… Everyone nowadays wants to give cookies and cake for people doing their jobs. Its their jobs. And so far, it has been slightly above mediocre, imo.
See, this is why you’ll never move past the fry cooker, man.
TIL forum moderators are also programmers.
Need that NBC ‘more you know’ logo.
In case you couldn’t tell, OP (and Doz or whatever your name is,) that’s sarcasm. We’re being facetious. They aren’t the same people. And I know I repeated myself, but for some odd reason I feel like you probably still won’t get it.
Ugh. How about I come back when you have some grasp on the concept of “complete sentences”, capital letters, and punctuation?
Soooo, never.
Just “did what I wanted” and got thrown off a bridge because my #3 skill (whatever the hell it’s called) shoved me off…No one, ever, EVER would hurl themselves off a bridge unless they intended to.
Sure. But if you’re an engineer, say, and you have something you can do with your gun, but you know it’s got a heck of a kick to it, enough to throw you back a few feet – you’d think about whether or not it was a good ideas to activate that on a narrow bridge, right?
Making you think in three dimensions in not a design flaw, it’s a design choice. That doesn’t mean you have to like it, but be fair.
Couldn’t have said it better than myself. You know Overcharged Shot has a self-knockback, so whyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy would you stand on the edge of a bridge?
Because kitten logic. That’s why.
I don’t know why they banned this, All the items are in place and it adds a reticle to show you where you are looking… Game Breaking clearly… this needs to be implemented by AN so that people can stop using the mod and just play the game. If there is something that your player base wants in the game so much that it is one of the most replied topics in your suggestion forum you should listen.
They didn’t ban akittenthing.
dear ref
this isn’t useless
It wouldn’t be useless, if you had made a specific example. You didn’t, so it is.
…what? The dungeon reward system is infinitely better after today’s patch.
Yes but thats no fun to make threads about i gather
This is probably the most complete answer I’ve seen.
take a look at this response on the combat mode:
http://www.reddit.com/r/Guildwars2/comments/10ecfl/anet_reply_combat_mode_is_not_allowed/c6cro44
Or take a look at this.

OP kept giants alive to kill endless waves of grubs.
Complains that in the absence of this, the game is now too grindy.
In related news, I have a headache.
Have you ever listened to Lewis Black?
‘If it weren’t for my horse, I wouldn’t have spent that year in college.’
The worst thing about the patch was that there was no performance tweaks at all.
This game NEEDS a bloody boot in thekittento get itself fixed so it actually is playable at all for those with BSOD’s, single digit FPS, screen tearing, unable to login. bla bla bla.
Why should they cater to the people who are complaining about non-critical aspects of gameplay that only serve to make things easier for a minority of players?
Single digit FPS? What the eff are you playing on, an Apple IIE?
What are your graphics settings? What video card? Seriously, this is a problem that I’ve seen 1 or 2 people have (you being one of them), so I’d really like to know.
I’d support this
Combat is one of the few “flaws” GW2 is currently suffering from
#it’s NOT fun
Fun’s a relative term. You’ve already had one person in this thread who disagrees with you.
Seriously, and with no disrespect to the OP, if you guys want ANet to take this seriously and possibly accept or implement this mod, you need to stop flooding the suggestions board with these topics. One large, comprehensive topic with mature, reasonable discussion (which I’ve found is nearly IMPOSSIBLE on these forums) will get the point across better, and will be read more often) than a large amount of individual, smaller topics.
Aw, it’s not allowed. I was on the fence about trying this, now I know I can’t. Arena-Net for all that is good, if you aren’t going to allow this make it yourself!
CMs can regurgitate ToS and EULA. But they aren’t the final arbiter (I will never understand how someone thinks a forum mod is going to ban you in the game.)
Read Gaile’s response.
Cik, quoting Syncaine as not liking a theme park MMO doesn’t prove anything except that, well, Syncaine doesn’t like theme park MMOs. The man is infamous for having a very specific personal taste for free-for-all, sandbox MMOs and being very negative about any MMO that isn’t either EVE or Darkfall – in his view, if a game doesn’t pander to his personal taste in games then it’s a bad game.
Given that Syncaine’s preferred style of game has actually been tried a number of times, and all of the attempts have either closed down (Shadowbane) or taken years to claw their way up to the status niche game (EVE, Darkfall) I would have to class the man as the standard bearer of the “forward to the glorious past” brigade.
Oh, and tip for the OP – the “many of my friends are quitting too” line is tired and over-used. Nobody believes that the kind of attention seeker who posts “the game sucks lol” threads actually HAS many friends.
I have a hard time understanding how anyone can like Darkfall. Sure, the general idea is terrific, but then, the grind is most ridiculous from what I remember, making the game simply unplayable.
Darkfall IS unplayable. I haven’t taken Syncaine seriously since I tried that game.
You’re forgetting if downleveling was removed, 80s would just wandering around completely destroying events and farming. Ruining that content for lower level characters.
But that’s never happened in any other MMO…
Oh wait.
I’m DEFINITELY going to agree with you on this one, feeling powerful is kinda the point of mmos -_-
I usually play to have fun and be challenged. One shotting everything in my path, no matter how ‘powerful’ my kitten feels, is not fun or challenging.
If anything, they should just assimilate Combat Mode into the game. Buy it off the creator, since it works, and tweak it.
In honesty though, as much as it pains me, I could see the creator being a kitten and NOT letting them, but I really hope both parties could reach an amicable and mutually beneficial agreement.
While I disagree with… well, pretty much everything here, I’m glad you put so much thought into it. Granted, it makes me feel a little guilty when I casually dismiss it, but it was an entertaining read.
Hello, I’d like a full refund please.
My reasons are:
1. game incomplete and very buggy
2. game not as advertised, there is grind everywhere and nothing innovative like you said there would be
3. only 2 lvl 80 areas, many parts of tyria are innacessable
4. very little actual pve content other than heart/centaur/risen>repeat
5. the game has absolutely zero similarities to the first GW apart from the lore
6. Dungeons are not skill based, you cant see what the mobs are doing and how to counter it, DE’s are zerg fests, wvw are zergfests.
7. Totally dissapointed and not impressedI find GW2 not as advertised and respectfully request a full refund please.
This is possibly the worst troll thread I have ever stumbled on. And I’ve lurked these threads since launch.
The difference between this forum and, for example, the GW2guru forum is huge. After yesterdays patch went live and this forum literally exploded, I took a look there to see how people reacted to the patch. In here it’s “omg you insert a whole bunch of kittens here at Anet, reverse it NAO”. Over there it was “finally, something has been done about that annoying farm.” I guess I’ll just stay here to feed on the misery of the many trolls, and move to a different forum for actual constructive discussions :’)
Man, I have picked the wrong forum to follow…
Best MMO is subject to opinion, what suits one person may not suit the next, but that aside, I agree – I have played many many games and none has grabbed me as much as this. The Dynamic Events are excellent, and world pvp is fantastic, and the art in the game is truely amazing.
Can’t we all just agree with this? I’m copy/pasting it as my new signature.
This obviously belongs in the Suggestions forum, wouldn’t you agree?
85% of the posts in General would be great in the suggestions section of the forums, where people could actually debate them.
You’re calling an entire playerbase that you disagree with (kids who play WoW despite Blizzard, and for some odd reason you kind of folded ANet into that) morons. How is that NOT calling people who disagree with you morons. It’s not objectively true: I actually agree with the sentiment, that the game they play is horrible (WoW, post-BC), but I’m not going around calling them morons.
I’ll give you the benefit of the doubt; maybe you just don’t know what moron means. It’s an insult; a derogatory name people use when they’re trying to call someone stupid.
I don’t care that you didn’t say it to me; I care that this crap is being said in general, on both sides. Just because you disagree with someone’s gaming philosophy doesn’t mean they’re dumber than you, and the fact that you like something else doesn’t make you smarter.
I was a customer the box is not the only way to have given them money.
You paid for gems? Okay, then you were a micro-customer. So you still get a small say.
Ya all they did was get rid of your ability to abuse a dungeon for grinding, money, and so on.
God forbid they prevent abused speed runs.
Dam self-entitled player. How dare they stop something he was abusing the heck out of right? The nerve.
They more said that PvE is not viable means of anything, they ruined dungeons, there is not reward for risk, they want you to WvW but they won’t detract anyone who already got ahead of the curve in gear so you get smashed by fully exotic’d players in WvW, and then you are left with mediocre Battlegrounds.
No I have no interest in playing a 1 dimensional MMO because the developers think that me spending 30+ hours in their game doing PvE content that I enjoy is the wrong thing I should be doing.
So I will do them one better I’ll spend 0 hours in their game.
Lol as i explained your not doing them one better. You made a purchase already, you already lost this.
Besides regardless you are gonna still get that gear with time.Honestly your just angry you can’t get it faster.
Sounds like you may be from WoW.
I paid 0 dollars for GW2 I was given it as a gift from my job. I was enjoying it all the way up until 3am last night. I knew what was coming last night and had thought ANET would of been smart enough to rollback the changes by mid day. Instead all we got in the dungeon forums was 2 smug comments and then nothing more.
Extremely poor professionalism from this team.
Then you weren’t a customer. And you are no longer a player.
Which means you are now sort of irrelevant, to the company.
@Deith Yes, that is true. Given how few people are complaining it’s doubtful it will change. Also, I doubt they’d worry too much if the people who are complaining leave, since the game seems to have already attracted quite a huge crowd of morons. I don’t think those people will be bothered by anything, just like they weren’t bothered in WoW. I guess it’s no longer about the loyal fans, who have been following the game for a long time, but about the people who can pay the most money, which is the aforementioned morons.
Welcome to game industry
Nice. Insults against fellow players. Stay classy, you two.
Insults? Stay classy? I don’t…I don’t catch your drift…your problem is?
Problem? None, really. I think it’s great that Gauradan can call everyone who disagrees with his view ‘morons’ and be hailed, where if someone who enjoyed the game were to do the exact same thing, it’d be seen as fanboyism. That’s the kind of world I’ve always wanted to live in.
Granted their playerbase is in no way as huge as GW2’s, but they knew how to respond and they still keep their players happy.
See that’s the main problem.
Imagine if ANet listened to everyone (myself included)… just go check some profession forums. In the same time there are profs that are, according to our fellow players, UP and OP… sometimes even both. So, let’s nerf guardian, but let’s buff guardian, and let’s not make and changes because guardians are ok…
Do you see where I’m going with this? There HAS to be a line somewhere. What you and I can do is either adapt, or leave. (Or hope for changes)
Hooray for sanity.
Fine.
I won’t argue ‘cause that’s not why i posted anyway.
I do see what you’re saying as I did understand it, but I don’t like the way the game is going so far at all.
Now that doesn’t exactly mean that I’ll stop playing.
My friends already stopped, but GW2 is quite fun and I love the little details towns have.
I like the human town with the little merchant stalls and the confetti flying through the air.
I love how there are little hidden jump quests and I LOVE the little side conversations NPCs have.
I enjoy noticing the little things, I just don’t like the updates they’ve been dishing out.
So honestly, I don’t know how long I’ll be playing. :o
The only answer to that is: Okay.
Seriously, I don’t know what you want people to say. Some people like the changes. Some people don’t. And some people don’t care because it doesn’t really affect them. I fall into the ‘I can’t farm? Okay, didn’t do that anyways’ portion, in case you couldn’t tell.
I like GW2, so I’ll play until it ceases to be fun.
Actually, what what that statement meant was, I have no need to mock you, because you do it yourself.
What you do is, for all intents and purposes, your own business. The minute you post it on a public forum, I have every right to look at it and say, ‘Well, that’s childish and stupid’ and laugh.
@Deith Yes, that is true. Given how few people are complaining it’s doubtful it will change. Also, I doubt they’d worry too much if the people who are complaining leave, since the game seems to have already attracted quite a huge crowd of morons. Hooray for sanity.
I love the people who hop on the bandwagon saying that anyone who doesn’t want to do the same dungeons hundreds of times wants all their stuff for free. I don’t want things handed to me I just don’t feel like I should pour hundreds of hours to get a simple set of dungeon gear. that is all.
And people disagree with that sentiment. Neither one of you is right or wrong. You have different game and design philosophies, and neither of you should really give akittenwhat the other thinks. You’re independent effing people, for Christ’s sake.
What company doesn’t listen to it’s players opinions?
Just want to comment on this…
Do tell me one that does. Seriously, just one. Say Blizzard and I’ll do everything in my power to make a program that will make me able to slap you through these monitors. No matter how many years it will take me to achieve that, but so help me god I will achieve it and kittenslap you.
Anyways… let’s think this through for a second…
With 2 million players in this game, and each and every one of them having a different opinion of what the game should be like, how do you think ANet should make this happen?
Basically, they have to make a stand somewhere (draw the line as ppl say). Some things they can “fix” so you might like it, but how many people will there be that won’t like it? Did you ever consider that?
With that out of the way tho, I do agree with you about this particular “problem”. You do have to understand that this is still a work in progress.
You want one?
En Masse. The company behind TERA.
They have live support and support via telephone.
Live support is available 24/7.
If something is bugged, they’ll restart the server with a 1hr notice.
All you have to do is let them know.
If people feel a class is too unbalanced, make a post on the forum and what do you know?
Next patch they added new things to a class.
Granted their playerbase is in no way as huge as GW2’s, but they knew how to respond and they still keep their players happy.
Not really my experience at all. But that’s fine, Tera wasn’t really my kind of game.
Do not mock me, I just tell it how it is, they need to revert it or i am going to leave and take people with me, and smear this game at every oportunity i got. That isn’t kitten, that is business. REALITY
Trust me, I don’t NEED to mock you.
For every 4 people you take out, I can bring in 8. And as for smearing the game… So? Lots of people do that already; anyone who can’t think for themselves is probably not someone I really want to game with anyways.
I began this thinking I would play this game until they shut the servers down, but they seem to be doing a quite efficient job of ruining my gaming experience. I want to play for hours on end, and they are ruining that by limiting what i can do.
I amkitten off man for real, who the heck do they think they are putting limits on me?!
If they do not lift the limits on items i can while i grind(for any amount of time i choose) I will leave this game and go back to where I came from. You try to tell ME how to play? Yeah you can stuff that where the sun doesn’t shine. I don’t even care what the reason is. Bots or not, I don’t care, I am a full grown adult and I will NOT be told what or how I am to play my games.
This is a message to you ANet, You don’t revert that RIGHT NOW, I am out of here and I will take everyone I turned onto this game(they feel the same way) with me, and I will not be spreading the good word, I will spread a bad word instead.
Fix that or ELSE.
Watch out, we got a bada@@ over here.
I dunno. ANet’s done fine by me, Pony. And that’s REALLY the only person that matters, in my world.
WoW was and is a great game. Thank god its still running. If I want some WoW, there it is. I don’t need to turn GW2 into WoW, or WoW into GW2. I can have both, and play both, and enjoy both.
Because my brain has evolved enough that I can enjoy more than one thing. Shocking, I know.
There was no reason to turn GW into WoW.
Yet they tried their best to do so.
We loved Guild Wars for it being Guild Wars.
Sure they did.
Wow….
Guys you do know this is a VIDEO game right?!?
If a video game is making you this mad, how about you just don’t play? It’s a video game.
OP no offense trying to help you out, it honestly sounds like you just need to take a break. You hit 80 in 3 days…. Again it’s just a video game, no reason to equate a video game to real life references of killing yourself… Or choosing which way to burn to death… Seriously.. If the game is making you THAT unhappy then don’t play it, or take a break! I’m still blown away by how people let this consume their lives so much that they try and equate doing something in a video game to being lit on fire….
Seriously there Are a lot of people having a good time, including myself (call me a fanboy, shouldnt be afraid of expressing our consumer views on the forums… That works both ways op) stop coming on to the forums and flaming it up trying to ruin everyone else’s good time. If its really making you rage this much then stop playing.
I remember a couple of month ago when people were still excited about GW2 trying to break the mold, what changed to make you become complacent to playing another WoW clone?
Anti-fanboy fanboyism?
Wow….

No, Blueprint, I don’t think you understand. If you don’t hate the game, you’re a fanboy.
If there are any skill tree fans out there, let’s be realistic now. When there is a skill tree, you just go on google and type “best <class name> build”
I don’t do that, but thanks for speaking for me.
That seems to be a running theme on these forums.
Then you should put a suggestion in the suggestion thread.
Switch to Ferguson’s Crossing. Seriously, I’ve waited like, maybe 20 minutes, once?
BluebirdTL;DR Version:
If you don’t like the game, don’t play it. Don’t try to change the reward structure for the rest of us who do like the game. We were it’s intended recipients, as such has been clearly stated by Arenanet many, many times.
Let me rephrase it for you:
“This game is perfect and free of any bugs or design flaws. There can be no suggestion to improve the game, and all suggestions ever made will make this game less perfect. ArenaNet said that this game is perfect, so the only people who can play this perfect game are myself and people who think like myself. If you don’t think this game is perfect like I do, gtfo.”
Now, let’s see…
BluebirdAnyway, I’m not a fanboy.
I can see why you believe that, lol.
Yep. Anyone who likes the game is a fanboy.
I guess he missed the part immediately after where I said “The game has problems,” and then the posts below that where I agreed with some other posters on what, specifically, those problems were.
Just a troll here, best to move along.
Trolling is a harsh word and it certainly isn’t my intention. It was meant to show you that how your tl;dr (not your entire post and the follow ups) reads exactly like what a fanboy would say. I would suggest you either don’t make a troll/flame bait tl;dr, or at least make them accurate to reflect the entire post.
Anyway, I’m just trying to clear up confusion about the deleted post of mine. Thankfully it’s preserved in quotes and I do hope you would agree with me, that this forum doesn’t need more fanboys complain about complainers in an inflammatory fashion.
But what it DOES need is anti-fanboy straw men crafters to complain about fanboys complaining about complainers in an inflammatory fashion?
Do people even think before they post any more?
Did you? When creating this post, did you honestly think it was constructive, or just a way to get back at the anti-fanboys and people voicing their concerns – or, to you, whining?
Your TL;DR seems to suggest highly that it’s the latter, and nothing else.
My post was intended to highlight a common theme among recent complaints in the general discussion boards, so that we could try and discern how to stop the developers from listening to them and avoid having the game turn into something that people who agree with me do not want it becoming.
Your reply seems to suggest highly that you either skipped most of the thread, or just have a distinct lack of ability to process what you read and decided to post anyway just because hey, why not?
Wouldn’t a ‘common theme’ suggest that there are quite a few that are not happy with the current system?
It actually seems to be the same people, over and over.
The term would be ‘vocal minority.’
BluebirdTL;DR Version:

Yep. Anyone who likes the game is a fanboy.
It’s two different systems. The thing with the trinity is that it’s been done to death so GW2’s system is a breath of fresh air.
non trinity been done to death, since MMOs started with non trinity in the first place and moved away from it.
I still believe Dusk is being sarcastic. Stealth trolling.
He’s not. Most people I’ve played with don’t want the trinity at all, so Dusk’s opinion is pretty standard in my experience.
I wonder what the OP thought of the Bioware ending.
They made the ending THEY thought was the best. It was an “Artistic choice” if I recall correctly.
Yeah. And I honestly do think that the overreaction to that ending was pretty… pathetic might be too strong, but it was the first word that popped into my head.
My chocolate shake was not made of strawberry. I demand that they make chocolate shakes taste more like strawberry.
I completely agree with OP. It’s sad to see all the rabid fan boys lash out at OP in such a way that they do. Someone even called his initial post “shoddy and quickly written”.
To be fair, in some people’s eyes it could have been shoddy. People have different standards.
The OP had some okay points, but we’ve come to different conclusions about the game. He’s not wrong or mistaken, but in my eyes, his arguments don’t hold much weight. Does that make me a fanboy?
