I can tell you what i do against such engis.
I have a very similar build from what i read, crithammer and second is scepter/shield.
I cant kill these engis as well, but they do not have stability, knowing that its no longer as hard to take the point he’s defending.
Just dodge towards him (he will sit on the point so you can dodge over the bombs and mines and you wont get hit) then hit your stability, take hammer root him and press 5, now if you paid a little bit attention to placement he will fly over a cliff or down somewhere (most points do have such possibilities)then switch to scepter and as soon as he gets near again root him with 3, when he comes near you press shield 5 then you could be able to switch back to hammer (depending on how far he flew away and how many cliffs down) and press 5 and even afterwards 3 again.

Now you will think (but then i have to make so many things just for the engi and there have to be so many circumstances in order to be succsessful.

Maybe, but there is no need to manage all of the above, just after hitting the 3 of scepter the point is neutral, and he cant do anything against that. Specially because he has mostly knockdowns which do not allow him to gain control back, repeate it after all is ready again and the point will be yours.

This all granted that no thief comes to the party and oneshots you after all your def CDs are used

Just give it a try, works all the time for me =)

PS: An important sidenote: Hit Shield 5 and then run / jump or something to abort it fast and switch weapons for Hammer 5, so you have enough time for that really slow castanimation.

Just one thing here, Anet stated, they don’t want to make the game a statfest and make everything visual, that’s great, but as TE mentioned, some traits and other things just have very bad descriptions, also when you look at others that do not…a little example would be the trait that gives guardians +15% critchance with 1 hand weapons, that’s good, i see what i get, but then there’s the other one that says “you do more dmg the more boons you have” jeah well how much is this exactly? should i take this or the 10% flat on burning? and why is the burning one again telling me how much it is but the other one with the boons not? (also for another example see the one with the low endurance, and how low?)

that are just my thoughts about this little part of what TE mentioned, rest…well I can’t agree really but also not fully disagree so i just don’t say anything there =)

EDIT: i forgot to mention, that i stated this exact problem multiple times during beta weekends and they never did anything about it so i wouldnt expect them to do anything now.

tPvP: A possible fix of the "bunkerproblem" in the current Meta?

that’s a nice idea, i just guess like on above stated, the meta would change to something like portal mesmers all over the place or super movementheavy burstthiefs or smth, then there would be ppl complaining about that movementorientated meta (and i dont mean the tactical movement to avoid dmg i mean like 100% uptime speed teams or the likes) and cry for more of a defensive way to play etc.

imho one should just wait until there are other modes, like CtF (only 1 bunker needed) or Deathmatch (NO bunker needed, because well its enough to have one dps with nice support he cant heal anyways) or whatever will come =)

I like the possibility of running while channeling it, will probably never use it because i have to stay on the point to defend and cap xD

make it like -> random Teamjoin = seperate glory, Teamjoin = Teamglory

This would be great, RNDs and Bots could not leech glory, but if you play in a Team, you Support, Bunker, DPS and Roamer wouold get the same amount and not like now when i (bunker) leave the game with like 40 points and my friends have like 250

everyone thinking there is no sexy armour here: just go to human cultural vendor, pick tier 3 then medium, have a female human, come here again telling there is no sexy armour :P

oh and those saying armour in this game is nice becaus it is realistic, make the same and tell me why an assasin needs such an armour xD well except to….seduce her target i guess?

and to the girls that want sexy male armour, i dont know exactly what you think is sexy but have you every seen like gladiator or pit fighter? dont they look sexy?

yes please fix this, its enfuriating to watch my guardian hack through it and still get only “Miss!” except when i place a symbol oder whirling wrath. This takes forever and is not fun by any stretch of the imagination

i just dont get why botters are so bad in this MMO, surely they would damage the economy a little bit because they can farm 24/7 where others cant but realy that would just lower the prices in the TP a bit which are high anyways, what else can t do much, a botter who got his nice shiny plate cant do more than i can, but please if i missed something enlighten me =)

oh an phooka, you too are running for a reward, its just not karma/gold/XP its fun, so why cant we just leave everyone hunt what he likes and wants to hunt?=) wouldn hurt you if they removed this strange restriction (stil dont get why such hard grinds are ingame as well with dungeons, funnyly enough i do not have a problem with farming for legendayrs, but this grin of the same dungeon and well i dont mind doing different events all the time but then please allways give me 20 karma or 350 for every event not just the first 350 and then 20 for the rest otherwhise i feel robbed ).

First off, i rarely do events because until now i had other things in mind and didnt want to grind karma for armour that is(in my eyes) not so suiting for a guardian, which i play. Anyways i need gold now and this is possibly the best method i figured (crafting is broken and dungeons need 5 good people where i only know 1 :P), that’s why i am here at all.
Now just 1 thing about those people telling others not to defend, im not sure but couldnt it be that not everyone is playing a “hero” ? or problably some sort of evil thiefy hero? because this one would stay aside and wait until the well here NPCs are in a even worse position and then go there and demand more gold for helping them instead of helping them in the first place for half the gold?
just an idea because so many of you touched this “lore” aspect i for myself am guardian as i said i cant do such thing naturally! :P

i just want to throw something in here, i’m not saying guardians are not OP, i’m playing one myself since 3h before official release and enjoyed it until now.
One problem i had was all those bursty builds of everyone in 8v8s as well as in 5v5 turnaments, the rogues specially but anyways, so i tryed some builds and guess what, yes retaliation is pretty crazy, dunno if its OP or not. I just think if people would stop using thosekittenbursty builds with like 10k hp 50% krit chance and + dmg and what not they wouldnt die in an instant when they atack my +pow+tou+vita GS+Hammer guardian…
to the stability, well we have lots and i dont know if its okay to leave it this way, i just use that shout with 20% reduction and get ~28sec CD for ~6 sec stability +retaliation, that is pretty nice indeed helps stomping and the endless CC chains of some classes and it helps immensly defend clocktower with the hammer against 1 single foe (thats just a laughter every time)

oh and btw i think there are problems with stacking classes (not all but most) because with 60sec CD and 20sec buff you only need 3 guys of that class to have it forever and this is without + boon duration etc, just as an example

and yes we need other modes for pvp the one we have is in pugs just a farmfest because it rewards more points to just zerg and in 5v5 its to easy to get 2 points with 5 tanky builds (like on said above) and som speed and you win if the enemy doesnt have the exact right comp and classes

just my thoughts on this (and no i never said guardian is not OP as i stated on top so dont start saying this! :P)

i want fun and hard, but no kitten grind, had eough of it in otcher mmos i played (yes wow, rift, tera, swtor) but i dont want to go back, anet said something like “no grind set piece after finishing the hard dungeon” sadly this is only for story mode and explo you have to farm so its hard(or buggy what ever u call it) grindy and (because of the buggy part) unfun (well cant speak for others but for me its fun if its hard(not impossible just hard) and i dont have to repeate 70 times for cool gear, thats imo just boring(if i managed it it means im good enough no need for hours of time wasting)

i really dont think the way Condescend does, if the dungeon is hard why not give the good player his cool gear piece and be done with it?
instead of letting him farm hours for tokens not even having a subscription fee makes it in my eyes even more hilarious, it doesnt help them getting money its just time dump for players who are good enough to beat it, that’s something i really dnt understand, especially because like OP said, they mentioned something like 1 gear piece at end of the dungeon per run (best thing imho would be 5 paths each for 1 piece (with helmet for story mode) but what ever this will never happen iguess, just me having too much time)

just 1 thing to say here, someone mentioned it earlier in another way,
when i first heard of GW2 and later as well i allways thought they are telling me, that:
1. no mindless farming
2. hard dungeons
Well i was happy, WoW, RIft, Tera, SWOTR etcetc i played, yes…but the grind was always soo enormously boring, now i thought i finally found a game where it is not necessary.
I heard of cool loooking set items you get after finishing a hard dungeon, not having to farm 1000 of tokens doing the same dungeon over and over again…sadly this is no true, you get your 1 set item at the end of story mode and then you can go explo and farm tokens over and over again…
well i’m doing pvp now noone 1 know wants to farm this hours and hours (me included)
if it was 6 explo paths each dungeon and at the end of each you get 1 set item (being very hard naturally)
just one little PS: it is actually NOT hard to farm a dungeon several times in a row this has nothing to do with difficulty it’s just boring for most people =)
