Yet it’s a typo i’m running a 3210M.
With regards to both your comments, i can assure you it is quad core it says so in my DxDiag, and yes i am 100% running it on the 650M at least that is what i’ve set it to run at. And with regards to the dungeons yes there FPS drop in them is where it’s generally the worst it’s unbearably bad i can’t even dodge half the time it’s that bad.
Ok so I’ve contacted support and they appear to have gone dead on me for some reason now, so I’m making a post here.
System specs (If anyone wants a copy of my DxDiag if they think they can help i will happily upload it)
Windows 7 64 Bit
Processor – Intel® CORE i5-3210M CPU@2.50Ghz 2.50GHZ (quad core)
RAM – 6GB
Model – Alienware M14XR2
Graphics Driver – NVIDIA GeForce GT 650M, and Intel® HD Graphics 4000
Ok so what is the issue, well these specs should be able to easily run GW2 at lowest specs with a decent FPS, however i find myself running at a relatively low FPS and getting unbearable FPS drops in intensive areas such as Dungeons, WvW, and LA, and I’m talking sub 10 FPS, and using Heaven Benchmark i got an AVG FPS of 40 with only 2 FPS drops below 20 which only lasted literally milliseconds.
So what have i done allready;
- Reinstalled GW2 to a new location
- Repaired
- Done everything in this link – https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/support/tech/FPS-and-Performance-based-issues-1/first#post338300
- Disabled all start up processes with MSconfig
- Updated all my graphics drivers
- Disabled every single non required process with Smart close – It should be mentioned that i had a very high process count of 100+ and even when i ran this i still had 70+ processes going yet only had about 6 showing in the list.
- Run GW2 as admin.
And yet after doing all this I’m still getting FPS issues.
(edited by Hunzo.4509)
It’s crap like half the other legendaries, which imo are just troll weapons made for 10 year old kids..
Ooo i have a disco ball mace, a pistol that fires confetti and makes the most annoying noise in the world. Hip Hip Hooray.
- Lack of end game content, add more cosmetic items to work towards and dueling systems with your PVE gear.
- More dungeons, so many more dungeons.
- More skills for both utilities and weapon slots.
I’m sorry but this post is complete BS GW1 at times was to easy, and hell that happens with having so much build diversity but they did patch it and fix it and get people to create new builds to farm, i honestly can’t believe you’re trying to tell me and the rest of the community that there was no challenge in GW1.
Shame about there being no proper end game content still.
Well i find this hilarious that half the people commenting on this post have gone into a full frenzy thinking that i am claiming, that GW2 should go down WoWs road by creating better armor continuously, I never implied anything of the sorts nor is that what i want, but as i can tell this thread is long gone to those narrow minded people who have jumped to that conclusion, good day.
Oh and Pwns froggles understands exactly what i mean hallelujah
I find there is to much focus on WvW as the end game which is beyond ridiculous, people get there best gear to go into WvW and do what?
Half of the people including me still to this day don’t really understand what is going on, you more often than not are forced to zerg to do well (Zerg or be zerged world) Which makes your actions feel next to pointless in this zerg as most people will just follow the commander and spam skills.
I simply don’t get it, a game with so much leveling, crafting, item and armor/weapon content and literally no end game content is absurd, i quit 5 months back because there was nothing to do in this game and i have come back to still find that is a lack of proper end game content.
And while i love the biweekly content updates the last few in particular are not really heading in the right direction, it needs to be more permanent content i think personally where you have made real headway with content is by adding more fun and interesting (With worthwhile rewards like skins ect) dungeons as we all now that atm the current meta for class building has a tendency to be DPS focused. And adding arena’s and things for people to battle with there PvE gear, it gives so much more incentive to want to get the best gear.
So despite the fact that when the leader leaves the group everyone leaves the dungeon GREAT JOB, i get to spend 2 hours of my time doing fractals with a group of trolls who refuse to do the bosses properly revive me up until 99% hp then leave me and then boot me so i don’t get my chest or my Daily.
So how about maybe hotfixing this kittened system where people can be trolled, i have never gotten so angry at a bunch of people in my entire life over a game for being such complete and utter kittens.
On the whole it’s amazingly balanced, yes there are issues that need fixed such as melee classes not being able to have the same kind of survivability in boss fights as ranged classes.
But on the whole yes the game is balanced imo.
Ok so this is something that I’ve been running through my mind a lot recently, as i’m coming to the end what is see as the game, I’ve got almost all my max gear for PvE and working towards my legendary.
But I’m sat here thinking well what is the point?
Sure it may look cosmetically nice but what is the actual benefit of having the best possible gear which is Ascended Gear at the moment?
Well i struggle to find any, there is no dueling system to fight other players with your PvE gear, once Ascended gear fully comes out (Armor ect) Anet stated that they won’t be bringing out better armor.
So basically you’re going to sit there and do nothing on your character with the armor, you will have presumably completed all the dungeons, got your desired end game weapons and have nothing to do with it. I personally feel this seems like a pitiful reward for working so hard towards getting the PvE gear, and while i don’t appreciate a lot of aspects of WoW it does give players the opportunity to actually put the people with the best PvE gear to good use.
Poor Rangers didn’t even get a mention, and Anets nerfing them bad….great balance.
I agree OP i feel many classes need to match the others, but in this game trying to get fixes is like screaming into the wind, fruitless…
Lol why on earth are they nurfing rangers…?
Bumppppppppppppppp
Guardians Arch obviously.
Oh yeah obviously xD
+1 New armor skins would go down a treat i think, just don’t make it so kittened to get them that involves grinding like a kitten. Which is what you have to for anything in this game that looks good… Which i can’t lie i find insanely ironic in a game that was meant to be anti grind.
I really wonder what GA is.
I literally just answered it GA = Guardian.
Ignore this didn’t mean to post this comment, sorry for bumping.
“If you’re spending hours in dungeons in this game, something besides class choice for the party is wrong. "
I must admit this is another issue for a game where it was going to be anti grind… The only viable way to make money in this game and not even that much to be honest is to grind dungeons…. But this is another issue entirely and i would rather not stray from the topic at hand.
nerf hundred blades hard. /thread?
No.
The main issue here, in the Mes/War/Guard teams – or to be more precise, in the “Full Zerk” meta – is not in the classes.
The problem is the content.
And yes the problem is content with regards to the skill content there just is not nearly enough of it.
nerf hundred blades hard. /thread?
Nurf to any of the classes that i mentioned is the last thing i want… I want changes made to the inferior classes, so they can live up to the same Tier of those classes.
You see i’m not asking for anything to be nurfed, as previously mentioned by another user in GW1 every class had a build had the possibility to be the best in each field more or less whether it be tanking, support, DPS and more often than not they could achieve multiple builds which were useful in a variety of scenarios. Right now though that only seems to apply for GA’s and Warriors and Mesmers, and this way of gameplay was achieved in GW1 because there was such an immense skill pool.
I do personally think that certain classes need a little buff here and there but on the whole what i would like to see is a greater choice not only in utility skills but a choice in weapon skills.
Having two mesmers for one is great… They have so much utility and they have awesome defensive skills if played right, and the thing with warriors and ga completely ignoring the DPS element is there sheer power to buff an entire party with one click, which is more or less above and beyond any other classes buffing power.
that is why nobody wants 2 anywhere?
Ask yourself wich are the best parties for any dungeons/fotm …if you can t tell browse gw2 lfg.
People never wants more than 1 mesmer. And again with the Thief…. I play Thief yes i understand Thiefs deal great damage and can be mobile but here is the simple fact.
- More mobility = Less damage
- More survivability = Less damage
- Pure DPS build means they can achieve the same DPS as a warrior by spamming ONE skill with a weapon set that in my eyes isn’t what a Thief should revolve around (Pistol and sword) = Same DPS as warrior, No boons for party, no cc, very little escape mechanisms other than dodge and shadowstep. And very very squishy.Sorry i can t comment this….
You said so many things that simply are not true….you should just play fotm 48 until you find a good thief. Then you ll see 90% things you wrote are just incorrect.
Its quite knew how good thief are for fotms higher levels infact you’d almost prefer a thief to a warrior (for sure better to have 1 of each than 2 of any).I jsut think that opposite to other game modes, in PvE thief has the highest skill ceiling.
And to everyone saying ele has the top DPS…
Conjured weapons is a GMMICK build that works ONLY in cof/coe easy paths.Ele is infact the LOWEST dps in the game without abusing unintended stuff (you need to turn off autotarget to get those,…. quite a proff they are unintended) that locks the profession in 5 offensive skills with 0 defense.
Again i’m getting really kitten ed of you lot telling me a Thief is better than a warrior for DPS and tankyness/survivability yet i get no proof of this what so ever just empty claims…
Remember that game called Guild Wars 1, where every profession can bring something to the table, and almost every profession has several different pve builds to use? What were them again? Hundred Blade Warriors, Endurance Axe Warriors, Earth Shaker Warriors? Fire Nuker elementalists, Infure Bonder Elementalists, AP Caller Elementalists? Energy Surge Mesmer, Panic Mesmer, Illusion Mesmer? AP Bomber Necromancer, Mark of Pain Necromancer, Minion Bomber Necromancer, Minion master Necromancer, Orders Necromancer? Even the most broken classes had at last one top build. And all this is excluding hero’s builds, farming builds, running builds, and builds for specific party setups. And all this is taking into account that GW1 was extremely hard to balance, with countless useless skills, and even many “viable” builds that are not included in the meta I stated above because they were not as good.
Someone is trying to defend GW2’s raw DPS meta, 4x Warrior/ 1x Mesmer or 3x Warrior/ 1x Guardian/ 1x Mesmer by claiming that there are plenty of other MMOs who are equally bad. Well, just because several other MMOs suck at this, it does not justify GW2’s poor job at pve balance.
+1 +1 +1 This is what i loved about GW1 and it just hasn’t been brought to the table yet in GW2.
I like the ones where they are about to fight that’s pretty nice.
Its a non-issue in this game.
I am not prevented in any way from doing dungeons or any PvE content due to my not playing one of those 3 classes. Yeah there’s elitists for CoF who want only the 2 in specific gear. That’ll be a non-issue anyway as well with the dungeon gold nerf coming (read the blog if you don’t know – no more gold drops from bosses in dungeons).
If people fall into the mindset they need to be one of those 3 classes for quick and effective runs in PvE, its their own fault. Its a personal mindset to be in, usually stemming from letting the few in the community who feel this way get to you. If shaving seconds off a FotM or CoE or AC run is that important to someone, let them find other elitist types. Personally, shaving a few seconds or minutes off a run isn’t even something I consider. And it doesn’t matter in the 99% other PvE in the game. It only matters to the speedrunners of CoF and a couple other paths of other dungeons (though nowhere to the extent of CoF)
Theres a ton of other players who run dungeons and PvE content and dont care what class you are as long as you know how to play it.It usually shaves off minutes and even hours in other dungeons. CoF is a poor example as everyone knows about that. However most people dont seem to realise that in other dungeons the same rules are applied, full dps with maybe 1 dps guard for aegis and utility. It makes things so much easier and it really shouldnt. Every class should have a viable role somewhere in one of the dungeons atleast. But they dont. Debuffing is crap, not boosting dmg is crap and survivability is pointless. The meta is all about raw dps which really doesnt give a lot of options for team composition and class diversity.
Its not an issue for casuals because they dont seem to care about spending 3 hours in a dungeon which takes 20mins max (with mixed classes but proper builds). Stop acting as if its a non issue. It is an issue which is easily fixed, either with new skills for all classes or more interesting game mechanics which actually rely on condition dmg or interrupts to go faster.
+1 I corrected the quotes as well, and this guy gets it exactly.

Ok for the love of christ i was just using CoF as an example, lets take fracs the best classes again will more often than not be those three for the simple reasons that i having to restate over and over because you lot are not reading the post……
THE OTHER CLASSES ARE VIABLE, JUST NOT TO THE SAME EXTENT AS MES WAR AND GA, A MES WARR AND GA CAN DO EVERYTHING ANY OTHER CLASS DOES BUT BETTER, THEY DEAL BETTER DPS WHILE REMAINING TANKY (WARRIOR) THEY CAN ALL AOE BUFF WITH GREAT BUFFS SUCH AS MIGHT, MESMER HAS GREAT UTILITY KITS MAKING KILLING ENEMIES FAR EASIER, AND ELIMINATING THE RISKS OF DOWNS, A GA AGAIN CAN GIVE GREAT AOE BOONS AND REFLECTIONS PROTECTIONS.
I am not saying this is regards just to CoF i simply just used CoF as a bloody example.
few things
Warriors and Guardians are really all around dps, support, tank and everything.
A DPS warrior is automatically support, while a guardian can also be a DPS if needed.A mesmer is there just for signet of inspiration and TW, you don t want 2 mesmers in your party :|
They can t spec for support and be effective as a guardian, they can t dps like a guardian either.Thief is an extremely powerful PvE class, the fact is that most thieves players are bad, thus people don t want thieves in their parties.
But when you meet a good player with a thief you istantly see what the profession is capable of (the profession….because they can carry a Whole party…thing a ranger can t do for example). But without wasting too much space:
ANET never attempted at balancing PvE while PvE takes huge HITS from their PvP balance.
Having two mesmers for one is great… They have so much utility and they have awesome defensive skills if played right, and the thing with warriors and ga completely ignoring the DPS element is there sheer power to buff an entire party with one click, which is more or less above and beyond any other classes buffing power.

Your missing my point entirely again, i’m not saying the other classes are not viable i’m simply saying that those three classes outclass any other class in the aspects which are important in PvE.
We are not ignoring what he is saying, we are explaining that this is a non issue. GW2 is now a power gamer game and there is no reason to power game unlewss that is your style.
There are always a few classes that out shine the rest in any MMO, that is just how it works. Show me a perfectly balanced MMO between all classes.
If you are a power game you will play one of these classes. There is no content difficult enough in GW2 to even reward power gaming this way. If you want to shave a couple minutes off your CoF speed runs then play a Warrior.
Otherwise play any class you want, the class you find the most fun and don’t worry about the fact that the warrior is out dps’ing you.
This isn’t the type of MMO where your groups are running dps meters and booting you if you are not pulling your weight.
Right i’ll start of with this quote you clearly haven’t read my post properly as if you had you would understand that i’m not saying any of the classes are not viable, i’m simply saying that warriors mes ect completely outclass the other classes in almost every area which isn’t right i mean a Warrior should not be able to be relatively tanky and deal more DPS (IN GENERAL) than a Thief or a an Ele who will more often than not die instantly if cced. And with regards to the power gaming BS please stop, the game is made for the masses not for the few who are going to spend hundreds on pounds on gaming software and equipment and so forth.
You guys are completely ignoring what the op is saying. All classes are viable. But warriors, guardians and mesmers are in such a strong position in pve. That means for any decent group with multiple alts to choose from they are always going to pick those classes. Mechanics need to be radically changed for the other classes to be on equal terms. Debuffing and condition damage is so kitten in pve and thats what the other classes do pretty well, therefore they are much less useful than a warrior/guardian/mesmer in the current dungeon environment.
Op is refering to the dungeon running meta because talking about casual is stupid and pointless. Everyone knows everything is viable in casual pve because its not hard to be slow and useless when playing casually.
Yeah you’ve hit the nail on the head pretty much glad to see that you someone has actually taken the time to read the entire post without skipping it and jumping to conclusions
Which don’t get kitten y with me is what a lot of you have done so far.
Guardians, mesmers and warriors have well established cookie cutters that are good for a party (ie. mesmer traitted focus and feedback, guardian hammer for protection and party boons), when you pick up an ele, engy, thief or ranger it’s a gamble to whether they’re bringing anything useful to the table short of having them ping gear and tell you their build (And then you look like a huge elitist when they blurt out “flamethrower spec” or “longbow spec” and boot their kitten
And this again highlights what i mean, it’s not that the other classes are not viable in most circumstances, but whatever they do these three classes will do better and with far more ease.
(edited by Hunzo.4509)
Sorry, on topic, I disagree with just about everything. I have played every class extensively and have every class at level 80. This is more a L2P issue than anything else.
For example, ever since I started using a new thief build I came up with, survivability has become a joke, especially next to a war. I find thief to be a ludicrously durable class, why? Because I have nearly infinite dodges, can heal myself far more than a warrior can and all while being fully glass and having top tier DPS.
I’m sorry but i struggle to believe that, i can build a Thief spec around the dodging and so forth but sure as hell cannot mantain a top tier dps with it, i’ll believe that when i see it.
Honestly if your going to make claims like that then it’s fine if you back it up, but just making a claim doesn’t make it true without the proof.
a) cof is no pve – it’s a kitten d dungon. Plus, I got 2 legendarys and enougth gold for one more but not even one stack cof tokens. So this is not a problem of the game – it’s problem of simpleton community.
b) engineers are right behind warriors dps with zerker hgh grenades.
c) so much more to say, but to keep it short: your field of vision seems very limited – maybe you should not judge about any class so naive. Every class has some guys who realy mastered their clas and who are able to be very very effective in pve content also. Again, cof is no pve – it’s a kitten d dungon.
d) PvE does not have to be balanced.
CoF is pve… And it’s just an element of PvE i used an example as most people can relate to it, i also don’t have a clue what you’re saying throughout half you post, as well it simply doesn’t make sense.
His point was that you shouldn’t use CoF as an example for PvE, mainly because CoF is so streamlined it’s a terrible example for PvE content, mainly because everyone already knows that 4war1mes zerk team is gonna be the most efficient team for that. Use other examples like other dungeons, maybe, then people can relate better.
Well the point still stands with other dungeons tbh, the warriors still have a great DPS with good hp, buffs ect, and mes with utilities and then GA for protection the same applies.
Every time some player talks about engineer dps and grenades, my hands hurt.
Seriously, ever tried using a grenade engineer? No autoattack, you’ve got to spam every- single-one of them. Now do that all the time while playing. You’re basically asking for a carpal tunnel syndrome doing so.
Such a build isn’t feasible in the long run – for your health.
Precisely the point i was making in my post, the fact they are all aim based skills just doesn’t make it feasible but this is straying of the main topic at hand a bit :P
a) cof is no pve – it’s a kitten d dungon. Plus, I got 2 legendarys and enougth gold for one more but not even one stack cof tokens. So this is not a problem of the game – it’s problem of simpleton community.

Engineers can achieve a very high DPS yes but if you actually read my post properly you would have seen how i mentioned, there not nearly as easy to play/use and the nade kit isn’t very practical in a lot of situations.
And of course PvE needs to be balanced…. Otherwise what on earth is the point in playing a class that is sub standard to the top tier classes?
I can’t lie that i would love to have more choices of skills with my classes by being able to use a larger variety of weapons and i think it also allows players to branch out into, building another legendary that they prefer but couldn’t previously use because it was a restricted a class they didn’t like. +1
Edit completely rewrote post – Same issue at hand of course.
So here are the issues that have been highlighted by either me or another member.
- Warriors, Mesmers, and GA’s are basically the top tier classes by a mile, whether it be in achieving great DPS, Buffing, Boons, Utility these three classes will come out top each and every time because they have a great combination of at least 3 of those categories at any one time.
- Yes classes such as Thiefs, Ele’s and Engineers can achieve a higher DPS than a Warrior, but they also have about 8K less HP, less buff potential and much less survivability and with regards to the Engineer his skills are not easy to use in the slightest and often are just not viable in dungeons. And then people tell me a Thief is very versatile and next to impossible to kill with all his dodges – Sure if you want to sacrifice a healthy whack of his DPS.
- The main issue at hand here? No it’s not Nurf, the Wa,Ga’s, and Mesmers it’s really very simply add more skill content with regards to both Utility skills and Weapon skills, this will allow the deck building system to come back (Which i personally found to be one of the strongest elements of GW1 and allowed it to stand above and beyond other MMO’s) and allows each class to build into a whole range of specs and still be in the same tier as the current top tier classes.
- Oh and please if you want to disagree with this and tell me a class is better than one of the Top tiers ones don’t relate it to casual leveling Pve or just roaming through the world as that is somewhat pointless as we all need our classes to be good where it counts such as in Fracs.
- XD As this has been asked multiple times now GA = Guardian.
(edited by Hunzo.4509)
Is it possible to get them still?
Rifle is a very important part of my Bomb build, since it is based on power not condition damage.
I use Net Shot for Vulnerability, Blunderbuss for a nice burst attack (around 4-6K for me depending on my Might), and I love using Fire Bomb>Big Ol’ Bomb>Jump Shot (adds 3 more Vulnerability to the foe who alread has alot)>Acid Bomb from Elixir Gun. Combined with the 8 Might I have just from switching to Medkit I have 14 when Big Ol’ Bomb goes off, and it crits for 7-9K along with Jump Shots 6-7K from both hits.
If I decide to use Elixir X after Acid Bomb and I get Tornado Big Ol’ Bomb can do almost 14K. So the biggest part of my Burst comes from Jump Shot and Big Ol’ Bomb. This is for PvE, by the way.
The only thing I wish is they would make the Rifle auto-attack a 3 way spread shot like this \ | / to keep with the Shotgun feel of it
Might i ask what gear you use?
I’m missing something here an Engineer is meant to be a ranged class.
Identified your problem, you can thank me later.
Engineer’s rifle is one of the most fun weapons to use in my opinion. That being said, wrong section for this thread.
I struggle to see how you have identified my problem? I was already aware of that problem so being why i mentioned it and as the post below you says they are the only damage skills on a rifle and don’t compare to other skills.
This might just be me, but after playing the engineer all the way to 80 now while the pistol tree is great i have a Thief to utilize pistols.
And honestly i really want to spec into using a rifle on my Engineer, but i find the skills on it are completely moronic..And have no relevancy to the actual weapon, being the fact that unless I’m missing something here an Engineer is meant to be a ranged class. WHY WHY WHY on earth have you made two of the skills for rifle close range…
The 2 skill is just next to pointless it will almost always expose you to unwanted damage and conditions, and the engineer has more than enough aoe as it’s, and the 5th skill while the vulnerability is great, yet again you’re having to in close range with ranged weapon…. I just find that the rifle has no place with an Engineer at the moment as a viable weapon choice.
I mean hell i might just suck and can’t seem to find a good build which if that is the case then please let me know, but i’m pretty sure on this that Rifle just sucks with the engineer at the moment…
Hello pretty simply question does the Act 4 for Halloween start tonight at 12.00Pm in the UK?
In general from a brief view from just reading your post at start, Yes Legendary weapons should without question be difficult to obtain otherwise most people will get them and nullify the point of working towards it if everyone has it.
However i dont agree with the TP and the stupid price fluctuations and yes something does seriously need to be done about that, but i do still feel in general they should be difficult to obtain but i do see where you are coming from with it being near impossible to catch up to TP to actually buy the items.
Part 2 —-—
The Transition from Gw1 to Gw2 – Now now now this is something that I really haven’t enjoyed so far about the game, and I really mean that it’s been a huge let down on this front :S, Mini’s are bought via Gems I hate that, there is no cosmetic based stuff in this game at the moment Like tonics, everlasting fireworks all those quirky things players loved to collect in Gw1 to make their character stand out, while Minipets are very lack lustre in my opinion are next to unnoticeable most of the time I just feel really let down as this was one of my favourite past times from Gw1 collecting awesome mini pets and trying to get nice everlasting tonics. And then buying weapons purely for their cosmetic looks such as Dhumm’s Scythe ^^. I just feel that there could be so much more on this front, and no don’t add it in as Gems as I can already imagine how much that will annoy people in general these should be key economic items in the game in the same way they were for GW1 because players simply wanted to stand out.
Now Guilds, what have you done lol? The clue is in the name GUILD WARS, the guilds are seriously lacking in functionality I remembered all around in Guild wars 1 GVG where great fun why is this not a feature in this game it just seems downright absurd.
And Guild halls where? Why why why they were such a fantastic feature of Guild wars 1 buying the guild hall just to suit you I think I along with a lot of other players were expecting features like this to be carried across into GW2 and are quite frankly baffled as to why they were not :S? However a positive note for the Guild I do like the upgrade system and the ability to buy Magic boost, and so forth however the Queue time for some of the stuff such as the Magic banners seems a little too lengthy for what they offer, which I feel is fair to say.
This next part is a full moan and I personally feel really let down from Anet as a company for this, and this is the constant joke taking bugs, event crashes, TP crashes, Gem store crashes, holes in the map and scenery causing you to get stuck, getting perm stuck in combat…. Look I’m aware that the game is still relatively new but even now the game is ridden with bugs and event crashes daily and I feel that as a company this game at the moment has been launched half completed :S Now a fair note to you guys is that you tend to fix most of them but the fact they are still happening in large scale this far into the game is slightly unacceptable and can really hinder a players enjoyment of the game.
Now in general these are a few of the key points I was wanting to discuss, and I felt it was needed as I want this game to survive and thrive and I want it to be successful and allow players to enjoy it to its full potential and feel that it’s not achieving anywhere near its full potential so far sadly, there is also this huge topic on end game content which I have decided to leave out of this post for now.
Please leave a comment and provide any opinions you have about this
Ok so I have played Guild Wars 2 since the Beta and Release and have a very firm grasp on the game now after clocking in a good couple of hundred hours’ worth of game play, and therefore a good grasp on what I consider to be the Pro’s and Cons of the game.
Ok so first off when I first started the game I cannot lie I was overwhelmed with enjoyment and excitement, the levelling for the first time ever out of any MMO I have ever played was possible the most enjoyable by a milestone. I truly loved levelling my character through a mix of exploring, hearts, crafting and so forth and it was at a nice steady pace. However there is a real issue with the Personal story not levelling in accordance with your current level, I would personally think that some of the starting area’s just need to reward a tad more exp from completing them just to make your area level line up with the personal story level.
Now crafting this is a biggy for me, and a real biggy I found that levelling the crafting professions was far far far too easy, and due to that the rewards for completing and maxing it were poor, there is very little purpose to them at the moment, as you cannot make a nice substantial income off them in general, compared to farming. They don’t appear to offer any unique cosmetic or buff items to your character for completing them, now you think of WoW there crafting professions are there to be maxed out and then help supply the player with a nice source of income in most cases through a wide selection of different processes. I just feel that the crafting is a little lack lustre for what I feel it should be? But the gathering is superb cannot criticize that at all.
In accordance with the above about the making money from crafting, since hitting level 80 I found that making money is well very difficult it can pretty much only be made a decent rate from Farming Orr over and over and over, now for a game that has the potential to have so much content in terms of economy production I felt a little let down that I can currently only really make my money from farming (grinding :s), I just feel the economy in a whole is a little messed up in this game at the moment, needs a little balancing and a few more sources of income for players.
Ive had to split the post as i went over the body length of the post the second part is here – https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/game/gw2/Guild-wars-2-So-far-Part-2
Yeah i would like to make a quick note, im not sure what the Medium armors look like on other races but on the Asuran in general they look horrible.
Ok i get what your saying Andrew but have you actually compared the Aesthetic Design of the Legendary great sword to that of the Daggers or any of the other weapons for that fact, if you do you will kind of see where I am coming from i think.
I miss the deck building part of it so much, to me its what made Guild wars as a game stand out from other MMO’s i loved the fact that i didn’t have to have hundreds of skills on my screen at once, it’s truly an element i miss from GW1 that i would like to see in some way shape or form implemented a little more strongly in GW2 cause at the moment every class will just have more or less the same skill set, i do agree that there should be more options to customize not only your last 4 skills but your first half of the skill bar as well, maybe make a skill that is unique to that particular weapon rather than just a whole board of skill that a generic to one weapon type.
I feel that every Exotic/rare ect dagger in the game is seriously lacking in size and aesthetic appeal, not being funny but compare the Legendary Dagger to the Legendary Great Sword its just well horrible that so much design has gone into making certain weapons look awesome and worth the effort while others just are not… I mean look at WoW (trust me this is the only time i will ever use WoW as an comparison) There Rogue equivalent of our Theif has endgame or rare daggers now the difference between theirs and ours is this: Theirs are generally substantially large and look awesome or have very nice notable graphical effects, are’s are small have no noticeable effects and often hidden within our armor. Similar to the Armor Issue there is a severe design gap in both terms quality and effort between the weapon sets.
I must agree there seems to be all these elements of the games, such as guilds and PvP, world boss’s ect that are nice idea’s essentially but are seriously lacking in the potential they could be providing us with, i personally think from Anet’s point of view this is such an easy fix for a lot of these issues and quite frankly dont see why they needed to actually release the game for them to be found out, but personally i think if they are fixed you will have a quality game on your hands.
