Today, in the 4 pve dailies I had 2 fractals, which I do not want to do.
Anyway 1 of the 2 fractals was beyond my reach.

I so lost motivation to play and simply disconnected to get fun in another game.
Since this new daily system has been put in place I did them 5 times.

To put it simply: I have no time to both run all over tyria and do several things for the dailies AND do whatever I want.

Another thing: I play exclusively my necro in pvp. I tried other classes but I can’t play them. Today the necro is in the list, great. This has not been the case since at least one week. The fact is, as I said above, I lost motivation, so now I do not even bother.

As said million times before, give us back the generic dailies:

  • replace the “4 events in queensdale” by “4 events”.
  • for pvp: check the most played character and add to the selection (=> the 2 random classes + the most played one). Or even better, add a generic task so that at least we can do them with our prefered class if it is not selected.
  • for WvW: ensure we can do all of them in EOTM. I’m on a bad server so WvW is not an option for me.

Same for me.
I used to play few times in eotm to farm empyreal fragments. This is my best resource as I do not do dungeons, and empyreal fragments reward in pvp is far from enough.
And in world boss you get no empyreal fragment at all.

But since last patch I get no empyreal fragments in eotm, only badges.

Indeed when the “new” pvp was announced I saw people posting enthousiastic posts.
I did not answer but was thinking: “eh guys, do not be over-enthousiastic, few months ago they modified the trait system which was certainly very nice on paper and when announced”.

In the daily/monthly announcement we can read something like: “do not worry we have thought about everything”’ … Yeah, for the trait system too you thought about everything, right ?

Additionally, while we complain here since, what, 8 months ?, we get lots of new things – new episodes of the story, new pvp, new daily/monthly, new gem UI (which was broken but quickly repaired-hence, this is their income – but what for this ?
I know it is different teams etc … but can’t some people of one team help the other ?

I mean will Anet break every piece of the game one after the other ? What about repairing the 1st one before tackling the next one ?

Hello,
I did not read everything but regarding some of the firs posts …

After several months pause I came back in the game around 4 months ago (in september).
With the stuff I collected since I started playing (1 month after launch), I could go to 500 in artificier and tailor.
I created 1 ascended weapon and 1 ascended piece of armor.
And now I’m blocked.
While we can easily get wood and metal, silk is another mather. As well as cotton … required for some parts and so also very expensive.
And considering the huge (which is not a big enough word) amount of silk required, I’m just demotivated again. It is just so many hours of gaming for so few parts …

I could buy it at BL, but then this wouldn’t let me so much money for the other components and gems (with gold).

Hello,
although I mentioned skins in my first post, I also forgot to mention man can get ascended trinkets in fractal. I do not know if their stats are specific, but if they are we should have a way to get them.
Also, isn’t there a fractal currency (relic) with which to buy soem items ? (I do not know very well).
In whihc cas, why not be able to get them in a reward track as for the other dungeons ?

Since my previous posts I did again Ascalon and Caudecus stories in solo.
And, surprisingly, I got some fun doing so.
If only it would last the same amount of time as if I would be in a group (took me one hour, while a group can do that in 30min or even less, right ?).

I tried Ascalon P1 in solo but could not do it. As I said earlier, I would love to be able to do it

Hello,
I was wondering if equipment bonus (power, precision, …) are applied to turrets ?
A guildmate told me that they are.

When I removed some armor pieces I indeed saw the flaming damages of the flame turret, reduced (I mean the condition damage).
But I do not see any difference on the rocket and machine gun turrets (and I have power/precision bonus).

Is it a tooltip issue ?

Hello,
what about having a fractal track.
I Imagined something like the 1st time we do this track corresponds to level 1.
The 2nd time level 2, etc … up to the max level (if any ?).

Once reached, restarting the track would correspond to the last level.

This would allow pvper/dungeon haters to get the skins and other completion (collections – spoon, etc).

The people who would use the solo mode currently aren’t doing dungeons at all, so I’m not seeing how it’d divide anything – unless the rewards for soloing were too high.

Indeed story mode requirement is one part of what drove me away from doing dungeons.
After having solo the first 2, I had the exceptional opportunity to do a “tour” with some guildmates. We did the next 3 dungeons in story. Now I’m still blocked at the last 2.

I learned that we have to do story mode for every character. If that’s true then this still hugely hinders my presence in dungeons.
Thankfully it unlocked the pvp tracks for every character at least.

I thought about a solution.

At the entrance, 4 options (instead of the 2 we have now):
Story – scaled
Story – not scaled
Exploration – scaled
Exploration – not scaled

Scaled= monsters levels and dungeon difficulty scaled on the group size and level.
Not scaled= as it is now.

Today I tried Ascalon path 1 in solo.
I could kill the first spider boss, after several deaths.
But the 2nd one was too hard, I abandoned.

I would really like to be able to do dungeons when I want and without having to wait to create a group.

It’s to get you to experience WvW.

People who solely wants maps completion will not “experience” WvW.
We simply wait the map is ours and visit it as fast as possible and then leave back to pve/pvp. For us this is just time lost and not fun.

Map completion with WvW is complete non-sense, hence the number of posts about it scattered in different topics on the forum.
It is a recurring subject.

Yeah I know for WvWer who have to do pve to get their map completion it is even worse. This proves even more the “non-sense” aspect.

Hello,
I completely agree.

I like to play at my pace (read: at ease) and my pace does not fit 99,9% of people. Especially people doing dungeons.

That said I read people telling they could solo some dungeons (if not all) so I decided to give it a try.

Yesterday I did Ascalon and managed it. I soloed Ascalon in 1 hour. I died 2-3 times but as repair and portal are free that is fine.
After this I was a bit motivated. So today I tried the next one: Caudecus … and managed it as well. I also needed 1 hour but died 4-5 times. My guildmates told it was a good performance.

I will try other dungeons going up in difficulty.
Anyway, if at least story mode would scale to the group, that would be great.
Of course, it would be even better if the different paths would be scaled as well.

During some events there were small dungeons, I remember one in the snow area which I did almost everyday. It was nice. I would gladly do that again.

dungeon track is a great idea.

Yet I think the requirement to play the story mode of the given dungeon is not a good idea.
I do not like dungeons but I like some aspects of pve (WB, explore).
What about replacing this requirement by a “first time play”.
So we have to wait for the availability of a dungeon track as now.
But once it is completed, we can activate it at will.

As for paying for the previous chapters:
Yes I can trade gold to gems, I do it a lot but I do not earn enough for all actually useful things.

Secondly I do not agree I should be punished for missing part of the world.
Missing Hivernel or Halloween stuff I wouldn’t care.
And I would agree on the success being locked but not the story part.
This is part of the world I wander so I should be able to go there and do the stuff.

Anyway this is my opinion.
If everybody agrees on the opposite then very well and good for Anet

I think I already posted (not sure here or elsewhere) but …
What I love: the new indicator for map exploration (although there are few issues I already reported elsewhere).

What I hate:
with my newer elemental, at level 35(36?) I can have 1 trait (why should I wait so much ? is already a question).
Then I looked at traits: some of the “blue” ones (read: low level) are acquired by

  • completing a lvl 40+ map,
  • completing a dungeon – you know nowadays people do dungeon fast to get fast money with their lvl 80 characters, right ? and they will never recruit a non-80 character – and that anyway there is no way to complete a dungeon if you are not well equipped – I mean a group of levelling character with the stuff he receives can’t complete a dungeon.
  • taking a fort in WvW … really ?at level 40 we are supposed to go in WvW ?

If you enjoyed everything except wvw map completion, congrats the rest of us (namely wvwer) had to suffer through PvE map completion, dungeons, and
mat farming.

And indeed I have much compassion for you.
That is why I also proposed to have distinct ways: for WvWers, have a reward, and a way to get the LI by only doing WvW. Same goes for PvEers.
There are more than enough possibilities, like a variant I proposed in another case: ex; after taking 10 forts you get x component for the LI, or after 20 WvW events, or after getting some WvW points (each 1000 WvW points for ex you get a little something), each fort leader has a small drop chance of precursors, etc …

So getting everything will be long, someone of plays a lot will get it faster, which is normal, yet everybody can hope to get one, one day, by actually and exclusevely enjoying the game instead of doing things he is force to do to get the thing.

I stopped playing for a year over the lack of a non-destructive wardrobe (and the loss of a valuable armor skin because of it). But I installed the game a few days ago and took it for another spin and I think the NPE stuff is great. I’ve spent $40 in gems in the last few days to get new skins and have been exploring like Magellan with that NPE pointer.

Yes indeed it is a very nice feature.
Yet there are lots of issues I already reported.
Like the pointer sometimes tells you to go far away while there is an uneplored area very close to you.

Sorry but, what do you mean with blue skills? Do you mean skill points and using it to get utility skills? What do you mean by having to do dungeons and WvW to get skills? What I know is you have to do some dungeons to get “traits” (not sure about that too). And if so, now you would need to go WvW to get traits, skills or whatever? If so then it’s even worse than what I heard so far…

Yes, sorry, probably I meant trait (I play the game in french, I’m not very familiar with the english terms).

So I meant the blue, green and yellow “traits”, the ones with a kind of spyglass that gives a description on how to obtain them (beside buying them at the trainer).
This morning I had a look and I’m quite sure one of them is given after taking a specific fort.

I did not read everything but here is my input.

I stopped the game last year for a long time. I returned recently a bit before the latest big patch in september.

I started a new elementalist.
I love some parts of the NPE like getting the weapon skills right away (and probably few others I can’t think of).

Here are the parts I dislike:
1) Skill point (on map) not working before level 13.
I started my elementalist, went on Caledon forest and quite quickly you reach a skill point. It was not working. I wondered what, asked few people and finally thought of a bug.
I continued the game and finally, 1 or 2 hours later I though about level requirement and someone confirmed.
When I almost finished the map I had to TP to the skill point do it and go back.
If it is strange for an old player, imagine what a really new player will think of this ?

You should allow to stack skill points, informing the player with a pop up that it will not be available before level 13.

2) Skills (the one we get through events, …)
Today my elementalist is 39. He finished all level 1-15 areas and one 15-25 area (Kessex Hills) and … he has 1 (only 1) of the blue skills, and yet he got it by chance. You really suppose that a “new” player will get fun by playing with one poor little skill ? Ok we can buy it, but yet. Can really a truly new player have enough money to buy skills AND good enough equipment to enjoy ? I do not think so.

Nowadays all people doing dungeons do it in speed to get money quickly and so are well equipped level 80 characters. Do you really think they will accept a lvl 40 character ?

Maybe you expect new players to wait their level 80 to get those skills (at this time WB and dungeons start becoming accessible and you start making money).

No, you should really review your copy and make the skills really more progressively accessible. Like after level up (get 1 skill point to choose 1 skill), after few events (ex: after 15 events done by the character get 1 skill point to buy 1 skill), after 5 reknow harts completed, etc …).

I did not read everything but I completely agree with the OP.
I claimed that since the beginning.
I would even remove WvW exploration from PVE (which means even the borderland exploration).
Give some reward to WvW players when they explore everything.
But do not require PvE players to go to WvW just for this. As the OP said, we do not get fun in WvW and we play for fun.

just a little question: for the great jungle wurm (the one of triple trouble, not the one of Caledon), do we have to be early on the map (20-30 minutes) like for Teqatl ?

In around 2 months I re-played the game after a long pause, I tried it 3-4 times but we were never enough.

I confirm and I’m not new player.
I started a new character this morning and eventually reached a skill point.
Nothing happened when I tried to activate it and could not understand why.
Finally I understood tonight it could be because of my (low) level and someone on map chat confirmed.

This means that when we are at end of a map we must back to the beginning for early skill challenges.

Why not letting us do the challenges and pack the skill points and leave the skill menu unavailable until we reach the required level ?

since the last update and the change to “flesh of the master”, all the pets of the necro disappear when auto-leveling.

The new exploring guide

Hello,
this morning I entirely explored “cursed shore” with the new guide system.
I must say I like very much the idea (I know it is not the case of everybody – for those simply deactivate it).

I used the option that removes events and personal story.
This is really fine to not have to spend (loose) time on checking a map on the net and being guided.

Just 2 things I did not like:
1) please set the piority of panorama at the lowest.
Waypoints should be first, then vista, skill points and finally panorama then unexplored areas
2) improve priority of unexplored areas.
I had 2 issues with that:
a) the system was guiding me to a panorama quite far although I had an unexplored area very close.
b) the system was quite stubborn to guide me to “malchors leap” (the previous map) although I still had many unexplored areas on my current map.
Guiding to another map should occur exclusively when the current one is 100% explored.

I had this issue too. I saw the thread about minion scaling, I suppose it is the reason.

Not mine, and neither the other pets.

Tonight I was on the ground and all my pets (golem included) were just looking at my ennemy and myself.

When I attack something (the door of the fort in pvp or the treb – if I walk too fast they do not even climb to treb and stay down the hill), sometimes the pet attack with me, sometimes not (even with the latest patch).
I think it is as before: we need to be lucky.

5 hours are needed to do 5 invasions, I needed 10 minutes to start this thread, now tell me how I can finish 5 invasions in 10 minutes ?

Overall if the dungeon is do-able solo, that is fine, I loved those 2 dungeons during flame & frost, so that’s fine.
But the argument stais for the 5 invasions required.
And I just learned the situation is even worse than that. You have to kill specific champions, not any champions .. AND be lucky enough to drop the 3 objects.

All this, plus your comments, and some thinking made me finally understand this game is not for me. The ratio between the “stress” factor to finish the events/tasks before they disappear, or as for now, before the access get blocked and the “fun” I get from doing these tasks is way too much in “favor” of the stress.
This started with the labyrinth, calmed down with the pavillion and now climbed up again too much.

No they are making me having to play an aspect of the game I do not like (instances) to have access to a solo event. I remind that the game has several aspects, 2 of them I love (pvp and exploration which can mostly be done solo), 2 of them I do not like (group instances and McM).

That said the situation is even worse than I originally thought.
I just went in game to do the first part in Gendarran fields.
Now I discover that I have to do 5 invasions, if I’m lucky enough to drop the stuff needed for the next part. Btw: why the ones I participated before do not count ? Why didn’t I drop the stuff before this part of the quest was activated ? After all I witnessed those events and I can tell the tale, can’t I ? And the champions have these stuff on them so I should be able to grab them, shouldn’t I ? This would be more logical and above all less time lost.

This means at least 5-6 hours more of playing “group events” before I can have access to the gauntlet again (solo thing).

I insist that it is not the invasions themselves the issue, but HAVING to do invasions (group things) to have access to a solo event.

So I’m off with the gauntlet, I will never have time to do all this before the next patch and it disappears. Just because it has been tight to group events.

Ok so I did not finish the gauntlet yet, thinking I could do it at ease during the week end.

In the meantime the new event was implemented and I learn that we have to do the new dungeon to have access to the queen pavillion.

Ah yes, you have to know, I hate instances (no debate on this please, there are other posts on that).

So the point is:
I have to do a dungeon/instance to have access to a solo event (gauntlet).

Didn’t we post about this issue already at the Flame & Frost event ?
Does Anet really listen to what we say ? I’m wondering (and very very disappointed).

Hello,
in the past I posted to tell things I did not like.
I’m a bit late but fair enough to post when I very much like something.

I’m not talking about the gauntlet, but the jubilee itself.
It was well integrated in the game, the maps, easily done by just playing the game the normal way. The idea of integrating in the daily is really great too.

I just regret we were not warned that we could open the chest in the balloons once and for all. By the time I noticed this I already opened several of them a little bit everywhere without noting which one. So I had to redo most of them.

Funny I was going to start a post on this jumping thing and I see I’m not alone.
Few months ago I posted how much I hate jumping. I would not care about that if some of them were not mandatory.
Now, what do we have ? The Bazaar with a must have meta-success. The cristal vein is a real must have for the future of the game. The up of crafting to 500 with such a rare material has already been announced. Even without the announcement we could guess it.

But this must have thing has been coupled with lots of jumping. As said by the op most of the achievements are tight to jumping.
Anet claimed that they consider we should achieve the events by playing the way we want. Do I want to do jumping ? Especially so much jumping no ! Certainly not !

The odd is simple: I do not know by when I will be able to finish all this stuff (I do little by little and even so I get mad) but if I do not get the vein, the game is over (as well as any other game from Anet in the future).

As I said in my other post, if you want to do Mario karts game, just do Mario kart games and sell them as such. GW2 is sold as an MMO so we expect an MMO, not Donkey kong, Prince of Persia or whatever platfom game comes to your mind.

PS: here we only speak jumping but let’s not forget the bluff which is completely broken with Adnul et Poyaqui who you can win only by luck when you play them the first time I mean.

Hello,
I’m thinking about installing the gw2stuff overlay (WB timers).
Beforhand I’d like to know whether it is legal with regards to the Eula ?

I preferably would like an answer from Anet staff.

Let’s do some simple maths.
I played a little bit more than 1000 pvp games. That is around 10.000 minutes or 166 hours.
Had I spent all this time in Pve, I would have been a bit richer and it would be much more comfortable to buy gems even at current price.

Let’s consider 1 gold piece every 2 hours, I would have got 88po more.
At current price it is about 2640 gems more. And we should consider price of gems 2-3 months ago as I would be able to afford them at the time.

So what happens ? I’m driven away from PvP, just playing to get the daily (that’s 3 games, well actually 2 games and a half) and the rest is spent in PvE to earn gold to be able to buy gems.

I’m of those who thinks Gem price in po is getting too high too quick.

Especially as I try to mix sPvP with PvE. I’m now 35 in sPvP but you have no way to earn money in sPvP, to the opposite of McM.
Had I spent all that time in PvE I would have had more gp and would be more confortable to buy gems.
At a time there were the possibility to win gems in tournament, but this was not worth the time spent.
As it is now I have greatly reduced my sPvP timing (to the daily task, ie 3 games daily) to play more in pve and earn gold.

I have the feeling that if I stop the game only one week (hence for a longer period), the gem price will climb so much that it will not be worth playing again.

Hello,
I see some people do not like this feature, but I do actually like it.
I use it all the time as in pve.
During those last 2-3 days I was not motivated at all to play PvP correctly because of this. I was just lauching my spell leaving the game select an ennemy for me and not bothering at all, could be the pet or the hunter or a mesmer phantasm instead of the player … I was not bothering at all.
I always use the right click to select the right target initiate an attack while starting to cast a spell.
So even if I sometimes accidentally selected an ennemy instead of rotating (which I do not remember ever happen), for the whole rest of the games I find it so practical that this small issue is not even an issue for me.

But yes an option would be great so everybody is happy. In my case it will be on
