Gonna assume it ends Jan 13, since that’s when the next Living Story update happens.
Alright, yeah. It’s most likely the fall damage glitch, then. I noticed it’s a lot more ramped up this time around compared to last year. It’s at the point where I walk down in small bursts to avoid dieing. Try going down slowly and see if that helps?
The other explanation is that you’re being hit by the gust of wind, but you’ve already ruled that out.
Are you absolutely sure you’re not running into the snowball-cannon-thing AoE? What you’re describing sounds like you keep bumping into them. Keep in mind they use the old AoE indicators (red rings) instead of the new ones (big red-orange circles).
I’d love to help you out personally, since this is my favorite Wintersday activity, but we’re on different region servers.
Will there really be two more episodes this year? Last year, LS started the midseason break around this time. The only significant December update was Wintersday (which I loved).
I can definitely see one more episode left this year that’ll give a cliffhanger answer to what happened at the end of the latest episode as a midseason finale, but then Wintersday is gonna have to roll in at some point.
If you think about it, Guild Wars 2 has survived some pretty major releases. From what I remember we have:
1. WoW: Mists of Pandaria – Came out somewhat shortly after release and marked the start of the doomsayers
2. Elder Scrolls Online – Lotta people said they’d flee to Tamriel since this boat was sinking. Apparently they crossed the paths of a lotta black cats since ESO burned faster than pre-buff Caledon Wurm.
3. Wildstar – Appealed more to the hardcore MMO player and a major company rival. Should’ve had more appeal since it didn’t cater to “casuals”. However, with the recent string of bad news from this game, this is another notch on GW2’s, belt.
4. D3: Reaper of Souls – The most important one that I recall. Almost singlehandedly revived D3 back up to snuff. I repeat, a single expansion saved this dying MMO.
5. Destiny – Most recent one, although the weakest overall since it’s on the console and not on PC, like GW2. Still a pretty major MMO release, but it just seems to have bad news after bad news.
In short, GW2 has survived long past things that should’ve killed it. Does it have a future? Most likely yes. Will it be a good future? Hopefully. We can only wait to see if the current round of CDIs will have some decent fruit later on.
I love this build and what you do for Staff Eles everywhere. I’m really interested in try out this build, but I do have one question.
You chose Soothing Wave over something else like Shard of Ice, or even Vital Striking. Do you feel like the importance of the regen to survivability is more important than the damage we get from Vital Striking?
Some may call this junk. Me, I call them treasures.
…No wait, wrong game.
I’m done with the internet today since anything else I see won’t be able to top what I just watched (past the 30 minute mark, at least).
Love almost every part of this. The only black sheep to me is the “Buy More Gold” button.
1. Guild Halls
My main guild is one of the larger reasons I keep coming back after breaks. Having a place that we can call our own would help tie me down more.
2. Precursor Crafting
RNG god, pls.
3. Player Homes
The day Animal Crossing is added in this game like Wildstar is the day I will buy so many gems.
Birthday Blaster is much better than last year’s Mini Jennah Parade. The experience scrolls being the same is confusing, though.
It’d be nice if they gave more starting levels as the years went on, though. 30 would be a nice place since that’s where traits first start appearing.
Don’t freak out too much about AP. Say you get what you wanted and get into the top AP list. You’ll have to do every daily achievement every day in order to stay relevant in just the top 100 or so. At that point it’ll probably just end up being tedious for you.
Just do what you want at your own pace. If people are talking down on you because you “only” have a couple thousand AP, chances are those are people not even worth acknowledging in the first place.
Are you talking about people drawing their characters? If so, I’m fairly sure the Fan-generated Content forum is what you want.
A couple of people there can draw your character with varying prices.
I’m also a fan of the thinner greatswords. They’re much more visually appealing in my eyes compared to the thicker ones. My Ranger uses the Ebonhawke GS while my Warrior uses the Sylvari Verdant GS. Both sleek and awesome designs.
You guys would just like to be a bright shining ball x_x
Have you ever been in any kind of zerg? Half of the peeps seem to be running full Celestial Dye and Fractal Capacitors, or somethin’.
Our style of not burning retinas out is a dying breed. >_>
There’s an alternate way to pay for the Gift of Heroes, though, instead of using Tickets. It says you can buy it with 250 Badges of Honor, too (unless that 250 Badges cost means somethin’ else).
When you total the cost of the alternate route, it’s 100 Tickets + 250 Badges + 1g16c (Elonian Wine) + 10 Crystalline Dust. Not too bad, I think.
Looking at the chart of Ticket rewards, it looks like even the lowest-placed server can get at least 2 Mistforged Weapons. The difference is that they’ll have to Mystic Toilet them instead of straight up buying them.
Hiya. I had a problem similar to yours less than a year ago. I wanted to pop in on my original Guild Wars account after not touching it for eons (I think 3+ years?), even though I linked it to my GW2 account the day I bought GW2.
The way I was helped was I sent an email to customer support from the original Guild Wars’ website. I didn’t know my password since the last time I played was waaay too long ago, so I gave them some of my information and they reset a few things so I could get back in.
Hopefully that helps somehow, and good luck!
When you’re on the character select screen (the one with your character against a background), there’ll be a “World Selection” button on your bottom left. Hit that and check the price for transferring to the server your friends are on.
If the transfer isn’t free, my honest advice to you is to just pack up those belongings, send them over to your friends for temporary storage, delete your character, and switch worlds for free. If you tried to farm up the gems to buy your way over there, you’ll probably burn out quickly. You also only have a couple of days under your belt so it’s not too much of a less. If you’re worried about your character’s name, I think it stays reserved to only your account for 24H or so after deletion.

All Evon did was whine, complain, and shut down that Asura gate on refugees.
Kiel was actually on that battlefield. She wasn’t just running like Evon, but was actually up there on the front lines with us.
No more yarn balls. Time to put down the charr kitten!
Which server has been able to complete new LS

I’ve only seen my server’s main map once. It was in the middle of the night. Every time I waltz into LA I get into an overflow.
I like the spirit of the idea, but that implementation turns me off. Maybe, instead of an obnoxious pop-up as soon as you log in, there can be a little alert button on the guild’s icon like there is for the BLTP and Mail? To remove it, just click on the guild icon and click on whatever guild changed the MotD. Less intrusive, but still gets the job done!
I’m experiencing no troubles on my end. No idea what might be doing that for you…
I know a bunch of servers do it at least once daily, including mine (Stormbluff Isle).
I’m personally a fan of the Ebonhawke Staff.
Where's all the dark stuff in this chaos?

This update has been around for a bit over a week and the lighthouse event’s starting conversation gets me every time. Listening to that dialogue is the only thing that makes me think that this is more than a passing wind.
The people who voiced those “Bear” and “Bunny” lines absolutely knocked the hell outta those lines.
I find it funny how the one time I decided to join a pug that had an AP requirement, they all wiped. All of them. Repeatedly. It was only CoF P2.
At any rate, AP doesn’t mean much. Just avoid those groups like the plague.
So which NPCs are you still looking for?

I’ve been looking for my favorite merchant Critheann for a while and I think I found her in the bottom level of the Captain’s Airship, but they took away her name! At least she survived, I guess…
Any NPCs you’re still looking for?
I can confirm that this is happening.
No, that’s not normal. Most Champions give up interest after a bit. But… that spider… I bumped into it while leveling my Warrior and it just didn’t stop chasing me. I managed to get from its spawn point near Lake Viathon to somewhere near the Earthworks area before it finally killed me.
In case you’re still reading, I recommend switching your Water V to either III or VI.
In PvE, getting hit by a Critical isn’t something to worry about. When it triggers in WvW, the 500HP heal is hardly worth it. Switching to Water III is much better for you since all 3 of your utilities are Cantrips. Water VI is also a nice addition to your damage, provided you can keep your HP up to snuff.
People always seem to bring this up. I’m starting to believe that I’m the only one that plays without emotes showing in my chat log. <.<
I’m just gonna drop this link here and call it a day.

I’m not sure about other servers, but I know that Stormbluff Isle and Blackgate do it at least once a day.
I don’t know what time Blackgate does their run, but Stormbluff Isle does it at around 5PM server time (8PM EST). Of course, you have to be in at least an hour and a half before that to avoid the Overflow.

I’m assuming those Staff Eles you’re talking about were sitting in the middle of the zerg clash. In that situation, the best placement is on the sides and away from the main fighting. This goes double if the Ele is going Zerk.
I still firmly believe that the battle on the raft is the most unexpected fun I’ve ever had in this game.
Sales are for people who buy gems with cash or prudently stockpile gems beforehand.
People who react to sales get a largely deserved hosing down.
My opinion in a nutshell. I regularly pump my gold into gems every couple of days or so.
I also bought 3 character slots myself, so I’ll have at least one for each class. Debating on buying one more since I still have a decent pool of gems.
I skimmed through all of the Southsun achievements a few times while helping friends get the sample achieves. I can’t help but notice one disappeared…
I saw two conflicting achievements where you could either put the Consortium contracts on the ship, or put Settlers there. With the latter achievement gone, I’m guessing that there was a portion of this event that was cut out? Or did I just imagine it?
WvW has several issues, yes, but completely shutting it down would call down the fury of a thousand Superman Primes.
probably rely heavily on group synergy rather than individual skill.
I don’t see anything wrong with having strong group synergy even if the individuals alone aren’t anything spectacular.
United they stand and whatnot.
I’m gonna hop on the “Thank you ANet” train for this topic.
All I wanted of it was the animation change back to the normal harvesting animation. What I got was a massive revamp that made it much more interesting to me than the Molten Pick.
In short, the Consortium Sickle is a tad step above the Molten Pick and leagues above what it was before. Thanks for the fixes, guys. Appreciate ’em.
Besides, why would it having the same animation as a Hammer skill be a negative? The Molten Pick didn’t have a enough mining animation other than the lava effect.
AHAHAHAHA… ha… ha..
…
table flip
Well, it’d be nice to have a taste of upper tier tactics again. <_<
Mine dropped while doing a CoF P2 run. It was in the final chest. I have no intention of using a Legendary, so I sold it for a nice payday.
Oooh. Thanks for that. I remember reading the Pale Tree’s entry on the Wiki and reading that line. I didn’t see a reference, so I just wondered where it came from.
(edited by InfernoCrossing.8063)
Then why? For the money you spent on this sickle, you could buy more than 625 same ori sickles. In one day, you spend about half of usual stacks of sickle. What approximately means that to recoup it, you will need ~ 3.5 years. The unique model? I agree, good. But that is not necessary. And do not justify such a price. Also clearly evident that the animation lasts longer than usual, making this thing even less effective.
I myself am a fan of such things, but if devs do not plan to change it, I will not buy another.
I bought it so I wouldn’t have to worry about switching/replacing Sickles. Will I get my gold out of it in pure profit? Most likely not. Do I like not having to worry about how many uses my Sickle has now? You betcha! That’s pretty much the same reason I bought the Molten Pick, too.
Like I said, the only thing that bothers me (and it sorta kinda really bothers me) is the animation. I’d like some sorta acknowledgment that this is either a bug or intended.
I bought the sickle immediately without knowing it would have an animation. I had no idea it would come with one.
The little spring animation is sorta nice. I have no real problems with it in and of itself. My real problem stems from the mining animation used for it. It completely throws me off…
I tipped one 1s 43c since he was there for a LONG time.
Mist Form: I had no idea we could use Utilities and such with it, actually. Not much of a loss for me there.
RTL: I’m in Staff almost 100% of the time, sooo…
Signets: I like. I’m starting to use them a bit more than before, so this is a nice plus.
Glyph of Storms: Nice. Very nice.
I’m very okay with this patch, honestly. The one that had me worried was the Signet of Restoration nerf, but thankfully it’s PvP only.
If this is a duplicate or known bug, I apologize.
Apparently having autorun on while using Lightning Flash causes your character to “slide”. After the Flash, they’ll keep moving, but the running animation won’t play.
