Well personaly some models are nice some are not but hey, whts ugly to someone, its beautiful for someone else.

What could be improved ( imo ) is size of longbows. I dont know for you guys but i think long bows should be LONG, and they are almost all pretty short…

If you check the pics of real long bows ( real world ) they are all almost the size of human and here they are pretty tiny.

So i guess my answer is : Yes

Let me give you one friendly advice OP. Just as i and many others did, quit and find the game u like.

GW2 won’t change no matter how many posts you or any one else make. There will always ppl that rly like the game as it is who will disagree and nothing will change.

GW2 is pvp based game with PVE content that sux for most of guys that likes traditionaly PVE in other MMOs.

Learn to read. I didn’t say I hated the game, I even specifically said when the PvE section works as advertised it’s very fun. When I falls apart (the majority of the time) it’s a miserable experience.

Well, he has a point.

People who go into dungeons for their first time, usually have random pieces of armor (low quality ones too), bad set of trinkets, bad weapons and absolutely no clue about synergy between their skills and traits, not only for their own benefit, but for the entire party.

Its not what he said, its how he said it. Besides i dont see why are items an issue, Anet and many other fun boys keep saying GW2 is about skill not items.

You are just twisting what they said to fit your opinion or you simply didn’t understand what they meant.

They aren’t saying there is no grind at all. They are saying to access the fun content, there is no grind. It’s a direct reference to the WoW type of gear grind needed to access the harder dungeons/raids. And indeed, there is no need to grind anything to access any playable content in GW2.

I think you dont understand what YOU are saying…

If what u said is what they ment, then in that case you have access to fun content in any mmo w/o grinding. U can accsess any dungeon in wow or any other game w/o grind, its just u wont be able to do kitten there.

My statement stands. You just said the same thing in a different way. In GW2, you can access AND do the content without trouble. In WoW, you can sometimes access without prior unlocking, but even if you do, you can’t do the content because oyu lack the gear, so you have to grind it, so it’s the same as it being locked out to your character.

You didn’t want grind? you don’t have grind in gw2. What you’re not accustomed to, is having too much time on your hands where you’re not forced to continue grinding. Go WvW, Spvp, exploring, organizing events w/ guildies.

I think u missed the main problem. The problem is there is nothing to do ( call it grind if u want ) not, too much to do ( grind ).

Max lvl in 1 week, best gear in 2 days, whats left to do is farm skins in dungeons and pvp. ( tnx god pvp is great )

Played game for 3-4 weeks got 100% map / best items /did all dungeons all paths except arah/max crafting all that was left to do was pvp/farming boring dungeons. Didnt log in bout 2 weeks now…

I dont understand how can someone build an MMO that lasts month or so…

Tbh i just agree with part saying that fun in most MMOs starts when u hit max lvl and in GW its while you lvling ( which is 2 weeks in my case and i rly didnt rush, did tons of crafting exploring and since im 3D artist i rly closely observed details and enjoyed this beautiful world ) Once u hit 80 and get exotic armor on there is nothing else to do pvm wise except farming dungeon armor skins. Sadly i think system where fun starts on max lvl and last for months is lot better then this where it last 2 weeks while lvling

Now to your question.
Before i started speed runs i did story mode dungeons and did twice explorable full run of all paths with my m8s. Story run was fun even tho bosses were not so interesting mostly cause of nothing but huge hp and huge dmg that made them special , first run o exp mode was semi fun cause we did it first time and was more enjoying the envioronment design then actual game play…2nd run was not fun at all.

So we came to the point where a: you gonna do full runs which are not fun and spend let say 50 h of time to get what you want, or b: do speed runs which are also not fun and spend 20 h of time to get what you want.

I think majority of players will find themself in this story, its sad but true , mehanic of dungeons in GW is based 10 y old story and its boring…

Yea I did. This post and its ignorance is why the devs will nerf dungeons so the dumb people can do them. That pisses me off. Whats worse is these dungeons are actually really really well designed by some of the best devs I have ever met. Its a shame their hard work is going to get changed because of these same ignorant people.

First of all where do you come up with right to call people dumb cause they dont wanna do these boring grind fest dungeons? Can you understand one simple thing that most ppl finds them not hard but boring and not challenging in the right way?

Your saying they are very well designed, are you serious? Did u play any other MMO ?

Dungeon and dungeon boss mehanic in GW2 is still in 90s where only way to make boss different and harder then regular mobs is to give them x 1000 HP and x 2000 dmg.

Check out dungeons in LOTR/SW/AO which is 12 year old and then talk again about these boring grind fests called end game pvm content/dungeons.

Just add on all stuns/knock downs etc boon that prevents you from being stuned/knock downed in next 1-2 sec.

Done.

I dont get it, i say GAME is pvp oriented and then you say UPDATE is about pvm…So for game to be PVP oriented all updates and everything else has to be ONLY about pvp?

And yes i belive GW2 is PVP oriented game. Fact that there is nothing to do on 80 lvl except dungeons which are all same with same item value and overall poorly designed with mehanic of 10 year old game speaks fo itself.

Well WvW is gear depended even now so that shouldn’t be a problem.

I agree with you that good gear shouldn’t make someone better then then others, and i like the idea that skill is in first plan but there must be something that will make ppl go step by step instead of buying lvl 80 exotic gear ( which is so easy to get ) and then you end up lvl 80 in top gear within 2 weeks with nothing else to do :/

Before i start i just want to make clear i LOVE this game as it is now but we can’t deny fact that with some things alot of people aren’t happy.

Since arenanet stated that they rework dungeons i wanted to throw out few ideas which will hopefully make this game better for all of us. As for other fellow players by all means please do comment agree/disagree but try make constructive posts with explenations rather then “u sux”

Now i know that you guys spent so much time and effort to make all this ( Dungeons ) and we all appreciate it but maybe some of these solutions could be better then they are now.

TOKEN/REWARD SYSTEM

Ill start with token system. At first it seemed to me like a wonderful idea, leave nothing to chance, chose what will you get for your effort, no boring dungeon grinding with 0 reward. Soon after i did few dungeons i realised this is wrong, something is missing, yea i killed the boss i feel good now but what is missing is that feeling when you open the loot and see those shiny icons with items you waited for days and now all your work is finally paid out, thats sucha good feeling but sadly there is no sucha thing in GW. Yea killing hard boss is nice reward itself but after few times you do it, it wont be enough…on other hand, loot and looting excitment, that chance and reward is what will make you do it over and over again. That system works perfectly in so many MMOs so why change that?

Possible solutions for this:

-Make dungeon loot drop in dungeons instead of tokens but with % chance
-Make tokens drop in dungeons with % chance but reduce dungeon item price

END GAME CONTENT

Now what makes MMOs live longer then others? Its easy, end game content and good, fun, balanced PVP. PVP so far is wonderful, yea could use some arena variety like duels, deathmatch, ctf etc but im sure arenanet will figure that out easy enough;) Which brings us to “End Game Content”.

Dungeons and raids are consider end game content in most MMOs outhere and if they are fun and done well it will keep players engage for long time. As it is now, after you reach 80 what you can do is run dungeons which have exactly same rewards with different skins. The formula is simple, the more reasons you have to do dungeon the more time it will keep you engaged and as it is now there is only one reason to do dungeon in GW, armor skins…

Another problem is while other games have variety of end game dungeons and you do them all cause you need something from each of those, in GW you can get all from one dungeon and to get it you have to do that ONE dungeon 70+ times. Bad thing about that is 1. you will get bored very fast, 2. you won’t even see half of these beautiful designed dungeons. Problem is even bigger since there is no difference in item stats so you cant make player go around different dungeons collecting pieces of his final, unique gear/setup.

Possible solutions for this:

-Make dungeon items scaling with dungeon difficulty ( ill explain this in a sec )
-Make dungeon items soul bound on equip so people do it for profit as well.
-Make dungeons drop unique items with unique stats to make people do more then just one dungeon ( since there are no accessories in dungeons so far,you could start with that so each dungeons could drop one of these with unique stat/proc )
-Consider TOKEN/REWARD SYSTEM from above

Now about that item scaling. Idea is that AC the first dungeon drops items with stats as they are now on top items in the game slightly incrising so arah dungeon drops 20% better item stats. Now i know arenanet clearly stated that they want this game to be skilled based and not geared based, but since SPVP is already completely separated and you cant use pvm obtained items in SPVP, there is really no problem with that.

What would this do is bring continuance to the game. People would have to do easier dungeons to get gear so they can do harder dungeons. Also since there would be unique items in each of those dungeons players would do pretty much all of them to get something they need. People would actually have something to do when they hit 80.

As it is now you get lvl 80 in a week, you get 40 gold in another weak, buy best armor, go on last dungeon in game , get bored in a week and if you don’t like pvp you quit.

Well that would be all from me, i know these ideas arent perfect but together we could make almost perfect solutions for this game and therefore make it better for everyone. So as i said before please do comment, share your thoughts and lts help arenanet to make this awsome game even better for all of us.

OP i rly dont know where do u come with these things…99% of ppl that complain about dungeons dont complain that they are hard, they complain that they are boring and unrewarding.

PPL want hard but not in form of 20 mil hp with one shot attack along with red circles on the floor that u have to avoid. Thats boring and thats why ppl complain.

IMO this token kitten should be removed completly and put normal drop chances on armor in these dungeons. It may be frustrating not to get gear, but that moment when u kill something and that excitment when u looting is what makes u do it over and over again ( look at diblo 3 for example, thats only thing that makes that game running-chance of getting something good when u kill boss/mob ).

Also Dungeons should have items scaling with difficulty like in all other normal games…So Ascalonian catacombs drops armor with stats as they r now on best armors and then start scaling slightly up so arah drops 20-30% better stat armors.

I know some will say “this is not wow this is skilled based game” Yes i know, thats why you cant use pvm obtained items in spvp so i dont see the reason why wouldnt be proper items scaling and progression in pvm?

Also make them soulbound on equip so ppl do them for gold/items/helping friends/excitment etc and keep end game alive for long time.

So i was wondering, if there is spvp which gear is completly separated from pvm/wvw why there is no REAL gear progression for pvm gear?

Why all dungeons drop same crap ( skins ) without real reward and improvment for your character.

There are lot of PVM guys here Anet, i personaly love pvp but i cant do it whole day cause i get bored. So after 1h of doing that same map in spvp i wanna do something in pvm but guess what, there is nothing to do!

It took most of non casual gamers ~ 2 weeks to get 80 with max lvl crafting skills and top exotic gear. For casual gamers that was ~ 4 weeks. So now all u can do is farm skins in dungeons which we all know how fun they are.

So again, why didnt u make larger scale and rarity in items for pvm which would be hard to obtain in hard dungeons ( and u got those ) like in other mmos?

You promissed us place where both pvp and pvm fans will enjoy, you promissed us grind free game but what we got is “end game content” free game…

The dungeons in GW2 are teamplay based no real tank no main healer you actualy need the whole party to work as a team doing their part this is ment to be. Its a challenge and its awesome and it should be this way. If you find them way to hard then the dungeons are not your place to be because its not and will never be a walk in the park like in other mmo’s (wich I find very boring).

The way Anet choose to do these dungeons with the difficulty is has is just a great challenge and unlike some others I enjoy completing these dungeons (yes I complete them) and feel a " yes" moment.

This is a quote of jon peters himself: “Dungeons are meant to be difficult”

So imo that there is all the info we all need, its ment to be difficult no walk in the park play mates it actualy needs teamplay and work.

Every now and then someone like u pop on forum thinking they r better then everyone else and post topic like this which dosnt have to do anything with the true issue that ppl complain about.

1. Problem isnt that dungeons are hard, problem is that they are boring and not fun.

2. Dungeons are not challenging in the right way. Let me explain.

A (Right way): Boss that make you use ur brain with tricky stuff like by maybe create ilusion of someone in ur party that copy all ur skills, attacks but instead of dmg him, heals him alot. So party have to figure out very fast who is real and who is not to stop that. Or maybe some jumping puzzle u have to do to get to some switchs etc.

B: (Wrong way): One hit kill boss with 200 000 000 000 HP and main tactic is to avoid attacks by dodging and spam dmg for 30 min ( which are 90% of bosses atm )

The fact that u have to do it 70 times to get ur skins w/o any other usless drop makes it for most player place to avoid.

Thats the real issue mister. Not “hard” or “challenge” its boring and unrewarding.

As i mentioned milion times solution to make something challenging and therefore fun isn’t mobs with tons of hp and 1 hit kill buttons. Thats old, boring, and for sure not challenging.

Anet you made briliant game, dont ruin that by making ultimate, end game pvm content boring grind fest.

I just hope this thread wont be over run by “l2p, go play wow, noob” kids/internet tough guys, so devs can actualy get to important and constructive posts with fair criticisam.

Yea just get out of gw2 go faceroll someone in another game, in this game pvp is about skill

If i hear this one more time think ill shot myself in the face.

PPL cant wait to tell someone “its about skill, go to wow, l2p” etc and think that will make them look like they are pro. In fact if u think this is “all about skill” then u didnt play many games and have no clue what ur talking about.

The fact everyone has same gear dosn’t mean the pvp in game is awsome, balanced and all about player skill.

In PVM after u get 80 and full exotic gear there is rly nothing to do, except farm ur eye balls out for skin in dungeon which 90% ppl aint doing…

8v8 became boring, tournaments are fun but too generic always same maps, same type.

Since pvp is obviously only thing u can do when u hit 80 anet better start doing something about it.

If they dont make some new stuff to do in pvp like duels,ctf,ffa whatever this game will die pretty soon.

More like 2 days rly and yes i agree getting full end game gear is far too easy but that’s what anet wanted i guess.

That being said i think you missed entire point sir. Players did say its too grindy to get best gear in game, they said its too much grind to get any “dungeon gear” ( ~70 runs for set )

Every topic is the same. Players that get killed by someone go on forum and start posting nerf threads. Everyone else that get owned like OP support him, all others spaming L2P. 0 sense, 0 constructive critics, just bunch of kids and internet tough guys arguing over their hurt kittens.

@ OP im not playing thief or warrior but from my experiance as ranger thiefs can be countered and u usually have chance to react even if u do one mistake not dodging one of his attacks. On other hand with warrior if u make that one mistake his 14-15k dmg burst in a sec gets me pretty fast not saying its OP even tho from my perspective its little too much, its just i still didnt find a way to counter that.

Tnx to the magic system where if you farm something more then 15ish min. mobs stop droping loot or do it rarely, geting gold is very slow so GL.

Doing oricalcum runs twice a day is decent so try that.

Can’t agree more. This system with curent prices is far worst then standard dungeons in other mmos where u have chance to get something in 1st run or do it 50 times.

As matter of fact its even worst. In normal dungeons every time u kill something there is that sweet feeling of excitment when ur opening the loot hoping u will get ur thing. In GW2 u know u will get those boring tokens which drops all the time and u know u wont get anything good beside that…

That “Hard” part what should makes dungeons fun is gone after u do it for 3rd – 4th time. After that is just boring routin w/o rewarding loot.

So as it is now they didnt improve anything, just removed uncertainty and excitment when looting which is one of the key parts in dungeons.

Possible solution to this problem is to add % drop chance on tokens and greatly reduce prices of dungeon armors. That way you would have that excitment when looting chests and u would feel rewarded after killing a boss if u get ur precious tokens.

When i started playing and saw that reward system where you get tokens which you use to get exactly things you need i was literally thrilled. It was so awsome that you dont have to do so many runs and lose so many hours just to leave everthing to chance.

So after going trough all these dungeons, and farming some of them i realized that “chance” is key part of excitment and joy in these dungeons.

That thing where you spend hours and hours for that moment where ur right clicking boss/chest to loot, that excitment when your hoping u will get what u came for, that possiblity to get some crazy hot item, thats what true reward is for ur time and ur skill in overcoming those hard dungeons.

Right now we are just grinding those dungeons and farming some tokens which drops all the time , every time, same amount no excitment at all. First few runs at least have that feel of happiness and success when u menage to kill the boss but after few runs it all becomes boring grinding routine with 0 uncertainty.

Possible solution to this is adding % chance on drop for these tokens but decrease prices on dungeon items.

I know this post like any other will change nothing. There will be fun boys screaming l2p w/o even reading a post, some will say go play wow and 1% will actualy read it and think about it. That being said i decided to do it anyways so anyone have same feeling?

So i noticed many times so far, when i start farming some crafting mats in first ~ 20- 30 kills every or every 2nd mob drops something.

As you continue to kill them, drop significantly start falling down. Talked with lots of guild mates and they have same experience.

I’ve heard that in GW1 there was mechanic that “prevents” you from over farming same dungeons by decreasing drop chance if you do them over and over again. ( Thats not official, might be rumor )

If there is mechanic like that in GW2 can we get some official response on that matter please. Just so we know where we stand, thank you

So lts put some flying pink cats and button that spawns tank with pink monkeys on it shooting everything. Dosnt matter if it sux just let it be there to set it apart from pvp at other games -.-

Thieves aren’t dungeon bosses. When was the last time you heard someone say “Oh man, I can’t beat this Elementalist. It’s so fast and deadly. I wish I knew the counter for it.” Same for almost any other class.

Yes maybe some some skills need balancing. Not only for thief but for all classes. But let’s be honest HS is not so OP that it always give the thief a instant win and impossible to counter. When looking at thief I would say that sword/pistol skill, can’t remember name, is way worse. The one that stuns you and does some flurry is way harder to deal with then HS.

Well not rly, as long as u move its hard to get stuned with that sword/pistol combo. HS is lot worst since he practicly teleport u on target and hit it and has insta cast.

Even tho i have no problems with killing thieves i understand ppl rage. As ranger with thief is just matter of timing, who time his skills better will win. Not sure if other classes can say the same tho.

What is rly anoying with thieves is their mobility. Tons of blinks/invis/blinds makes them impossible to kill if they ever decide to just walk away.

But then again thats what thief is all about. Sneaky fast little kitten so i guess they are fine.

Heartseeker is the most telegraphed ability in the entire game… it also has one of the slowest animations (the only thing slower off the top of my head is clusterbomb, which is just silly to compare to though). If you can’t dodge a heartseeker spamming thief your reflexes are not very good.

U missed entire point nicely.

I wasn’t talking about dodging ( double tap movment keys ) i was talking about just moving around what will make stun from sword/pistol hard to hit.

And HS is lot easier to hit with then pistol whip. It has faster cast time and also jumps on you so even if u dodge first one he will hit u with 2nd one if he keeps spaming unlike pistol whip which has to be used in combination with steal or infiltrator strike which also takes ur init.

And as i said i dont have any problem with any of those builds , quite frankly i find thieves cookie cutters easy compared to a mesmers.

Also don’t understand how did u concluded that i cant dodge HS, we weren’t even talking about that…

I dont know if u noticed but con removal from pet dosnt work, just as signet that pulls all con to pet. Just as passive on that same signet that removes one con every 10 sec.

From my experiance those con removals work only for things like stuns/sners/roots but not for DOTs.

So basicly if u get DOT in pvp ur dead.

I don’t mind the downed state but I really don’t like the Rally feature. Having people downed is fine but having all of the enemy pop back to life at once because one person dies is just plain annoying.

Specialy in WVW where while ur killing a guy ur AOE dmg kills random mobs around constantly bringing him back up -.-

While this is perfectly normal in these kinda games i still cant believe that ppl still do that.

90% of community are kids/internet tough guys with 0 social interaction beside games and every post starts and ends with “omg noob l2p” or “go play wow this is skill based game”

They cant wait for someone to make post about possible change or improvment to the game so they can say that magic sentence “GW2 is skill based l2p” and by saying that they put themselfs in that “Skilled” players who know how to play.

The idea of sPVP is to play as a team. Its not a solo game afterall. Being able to revive your ally can be crucial in a game.

You can have a revive without a downed state.

Remove it or balance downed skills…

In team fight while u kill downed thief u will proly die 10 times since he can go invis, teleport away to his team or behind wall. While ranger with his magic “pet heal” which rarely works is dead in 3 sec…

Not to mention Mesmers downed skill.

None. I use short/long bow. “Guard me” skill is a must and i combine 2 pets with knock downs ( as soon as one use its knock own ability i swap to 2nd one ) Also knock down from longbow combined with slows from shortbow/traps and thief bearly touch u. Also i dodge alot and when im out of stamina i use Lightning reflexes which is another dodge + stamina refill. Also on short bow 3rd skills is also evade. I rly dont know how can any melee prof touch u with all that cc.

When they waste their invis use Quickening Zephyr with shortbow for max dmg burst.

I use rune with 60% chance of con removal on crit on my bows to remove bleeds/roots.
