Living world S3 was delayed due to the massive amount of fixes/changes Anet has had to do to HoT to make it more popular. The man power for things like the April patch wasn’t small and needed to come from somewhere.

Don’t tell me I can’t have a specific tier of armor in a game based on cosmetics where stats are’t supposed to be a “big deal” just because I’m not interested in running your one specific brain dead rat race.

Umm… if it’s a cosmetics game wouldn’t you be more worried about the skin than the color of the letters for the item?

If I were after that specific look, then I’d be perfectly happy to do that content. Which is sort of the point of tying specific looks to specific content. But a lot of us aren’t after the look. We’re after the functionality that comes with that tier and no other.

Which is why we’re asking for that tier to be available via other alternatives. Be it pvp seasons, fractal achievement collections, pve precusor treks, wvw tracks, etc. The raids can keep their specific skin set (in fact, I insist that each has its own unique skin set).

But this argument isn’t about the skin.

Fair enough. I do agree with you that WvW and PvE should also get some sets. Just be prepared since they are going to be expensive and VERY grindy if the HoT legendaires and price of the raid set are any indication.

I for one will probably be just getting the 2 ascended sets that come from raids unless the skin is absolutely amazing

Once again people are missing the point of the argument being made. It has nothing to do with the skin applied to the raid items, and everything to do with the tier tied to the items. The point set forth is that there is no other way to obtain that tier of item via any other means, and that’s where the issue lies. Not with the raids having their own skins. By all means, they should absolutely have their own skin sets.

Most of the examples set forth are skins – wvw armor, chak weapons, aurics weapons, glorious armor. Yes, absolutely, specific skins for specific tasks. That’s as it should be. This is not the problem.

Even the legendary back piece offers two routes of acquisition (fractals or pvp). They are different skins tied to the specific means of acquisition, and that’s fine. That’s great actually. But that’s all people want – more acquisition options for that tier of item. They aren’t asking for it to be “easier.” They aren’t asking for it to be “handed” to them. They just want options.

But it does have to do with the skin and the assumed prestige of the item since legendary items are the same stat tier as ascended items.

For instance people craft Twilight all the time, (chose Twilight since it’s one of the most popular Legendaries) even though according to GW2 efficiency it costs 2361g 66s to craft. For that same price they could have 26.2 ascended greatswords (90g 7s each)

Now according to Anet they want a full set of Legendary armor to cost the same as a legendary weapon. The new legendaries in HoT cost between 3027g 89s (Astro) and 3217g 79s (Nevermore). Now ascended armor costs between 534g 97s (Heavy) and 620g 29s (Med) a set.

So put these numbers together and at best a player could have 6.01 sets of ascended armor and at worst 4.88 sets for the cost of 1 set of legendary armor. As an added bonus each one of those ascended armors could have a rune set tailored to the use it serves vice some generic set that kind of works or one that does not work at all.

Thats weird because I was getting around 2.7 mil xp/hour just running around killing things not in an event. Most mobs people just run by to get to the next event will give you 4-9k xp each with food/boosters.

So essentially, this is now a f2p game totally; exp is kitten if you don’t pay for boosters.

Great. I am now regretting ponying up 140 bucks for this expansion to find that out.

W/e. I did dragons stand 2x yesterday with my birthday booster and got a whole 1/2 a level for that 4 hours of work. I tagged every mob I could and worked my butt off. So there has to be more to this than you are suggesting. That’s ok, people will figure out this loop hole out and spread it to the masses eventually so you can keep your little secret for now.

Birthday Booster + Food + Utilitiy + firework + xp amulet infusion + killing mobs that have not been killed recently = about 5-9k xp per mob. however the catch is the more people who know about it though say forums instead of figuring it out makes the xp go down by alot so have fun

I have 88 mastery points in HOT alone and have not touched core tyria. it is not that hard and it is not 90 Milion its about 49 million. Just do the events and kill stuff, you know play the game. The exp comes easy enough its the mastery points that hurt, would be done by now but need 23 more to finish HoT mastery tracks.

Ok, what is this trick you are doing to get 88 mastery in HoT; I chained events there, did as many as I could but that gave me only 1 level after 6 hours. So care to share how you did this, I don’t believe you just ran around and casually did events to get that many. I am going to assume you found and easy over sight to abuse like the CoF farming going on right now.

XP Boosters are a godsend as is bonus xp. Also Verdent Brink sucks for XP. That is all. Just Do events and kill stuff.

90 Mastery is on the order of 90 MILLION experience, so I don’t think that’s even remotely possible in the 6 days since launch without some kind of exploit. He must be talking about Hero points of which there are supposedly 400 of in HoT so 90 is only 9 HoT Hero challenges.

Lost Precipice updrafts are missing

My guild took Lost Precipice earlier and once we claimed it all the updrafts went missing. There are none above the jump pads or in the canyons like there were during the retaking mission. I do have updraft mastery so it is not that.

In most other mmo’s healing is harder then DPS. With DPS you only have to worry about your rotation and staying out of the red circles. While with healing it is all reactive there is no real rotation, you have to respond correctly to the situation and stay out of the red circles.

From what i have seen from the 1 raid boss it is actually pretty close in GW2, since quite a bit of the healers job rests with every individual player. It is all about positioning in GW2 for both sides, healer and DPS, since you cannot target allies directly for healing.

Raided for about 3 hours last night and a couple of things we noticed.

1. The Teleport red circles are REALLY hard (read impossible) to see in a the bloom around the boss please, please make them more visible (like the orange circles in LS2 or the lightning AOE)

2. Not sure if this is intended or not if its is then fair enough but in phase 3 the Guardian would cast his lightning AOE circle in the energized section of floor meaning you have to take alot of damage to stand in it or wipe. It is doable with heals,blocks,evades and what not and like I said if intended then thats fine.

3. During phase 2 when the guardian splits sometimes the color guardians decide to take long walks for no reason and causes quite a bit of annoyance. The only reason we noticed this as a possible problem is because the aggro system for the Vale Guardian is solid and works very well. (Good Job on that, really. It makes controlling the boss smooth.)

Feast of Corruption tooltip is not showing the correct damage for torment if target is moving.

Just to let you know it is reading correctly it is just confusing. It is saying you take x damage a tic + x damage a tick if moving for 2x damage a tic if moving.

Quick question about transmuting mawdrey

I just Infused my Mawdrey a couple of days ago and I had it Transmuted to the Halloween Book. It has a message on it that says basically that it will act a Mawdrey in the mystic forge. So you are safe to transmute it.

Also just to point this out, it heals 2610 hp + 266 hp per point of adrenaline that the Berserker has at the time his hp hits 0. A Berserker has 10 Adrenaline max while Berserking and since the heal is not Tier based but per point it would heal for
2610-5270 hp not 7830.

I thought they had 30 adrenaline max (like warrior), and the minimum that the trait would give you is 10, meaning a 7830 heal*

Nope. They have 10. You see it during the live stream a couple of times when they move there mouse over the Adrenaline Bar. They also say it a few times and the skill Berserk gives 10 Adrenaline and that skill maxes out their Adrenaline when they go Berserk after consuming all 30 Adrenaline.

Yesterday I decided to mess around as a MM reaper for kicks and man did my opinion of rise change. I went Death/Blood/Reaper with a staff/dagger.WH and you are pretty much a god in VB/ open world PvE.

It actually felt like being a MM in GW1 as I would be running around with 9-24 minions and anything that I attacked would just melt. With Well of Blood, Mark of Blood, and Transfusion you can keep your little horde alive for quite awile and when they die anything they die near suffers alot of poision stacks. My only complaint in PvE is that it is pretty much useless unless you are a MM.

What is that how much damage does it deal now?

With Bezerker Amulet it hits for around 1.2k and crits for around 1.8k. Also Communal Defenses doesn’t have a cap on it so anyone within its radius gets a bomb.

My favorite build for necromancer was condi. And it feels really really terrible to run now.

Where is it that you’re using conditionmancer? I use mine in WvW, powermancer in PvP/PvE. I’ve found that conditionmancer is just as strong as it was pre-patch in WvW if not a little bit stronger actually.

the necromancer are terrible in cond if u compare with other professions. Bleeding and poison are the cond with less damage and we can’t stack faster like the other professions. Now all the others classes have been improved and we were nerf. If u compare u damage with the last week damage them the necro are “better”, but if compare we are weak.

I was actually having alot of fun with the 2 plague sigs (trait and skill) and turning the other classes condi spikes into mine on top of just destroying some people in my guilds faith in boons

Guild Halls availability to all?

From reading the blog posts and watching the live stream I think you have to have HoT for the actual guild hall (i.e. tavern building/ arena/teleportal/new skins). However all the guild functions like missions, buffs, bank, and scribing you can do at LA at the Guild HQ thing and by way-pointing to the missions themselves like now. Not sure about if they added missions to the new HoT maps though, those could be locked out. I would be really happy if Anet would clarify this somewhere though.

All Prepurchasing or early access is, is a gamble at the bottom of it. You are saying that what you have seen of the product is worth to you the price or that you have faith in the developer to make it that way before release. It is always a gamble, always. The original FF14 is a good example of that.

To say that someone is being gullible or irresponsible in the purchasing of HoT is wrong. To the OP it is worth the money, to others maybe not. That is a decision everyone has to make. So talk with your money it really is the most efficient way to get a company to listen. If HoT prepurchases are significantly lower then expected A-net will do something, if they meet there quota or exceed it then they wont.

All that these personnel attacks on players is doing is making life unpleasant for everyone. It’s fine to post opinions about Anet’s marketing policy but most of the threads just come down to slap fights between players.

Let's improve Master of Corruption

Master of Corruption: Corruption skills recharge 33% faster, apply an extra condition to you, and apply resistance to you for 4 seconds.

Now that is a really good idea for the trait. It still has some counter play as if you get boon ripped after using a corruption you suffer but competes great with terror.

I would also like to see plague get something like a “2 stacks of bleeding for 10-20 sec” instead of a pulse since that would allow you to transfer it with Plague sending or get it removed by an ally. Right now it has no useful play with it unlike every other corruption it just sits there hurting you.

Just re-watched that part of the stream to make sure but no transfusion is not going to go through shroud. All that was said was that Transfusion would be able to res downed allies and siphons would work through shroud.

The source is the game itself and the patch notes. Transfusion is not a siphon so it does not heal through shroud, while Life from death actually heals after you leave shroud so you do get the heal.

that’s horrible… i dont wanna do the skill challenge with 9 characters….

Its going to get even better once HoT comes out. Since based off what was said about the Elite Spec during the Core Spec reveal live stream you are going to need hero points to unlock your elite specs. My best estimate is ~100 hero points (5 Hero points per skill/trait x 12 traits/6 skills/2 skins).

So while you may have an argument about the skill reset taking away progress being unfair you are still going to have to grind the Skill challenges on all your characters.

I don’t have a problem with this honestly. Look at what you’re giving up as a Revenant by using a support build. You pretty much have to use staff, which is a huge kitten because it’s short ranged and it does no damage (and its your only weapon set) and then you have to use Ventari and Jalis, which once again do no damage and kitten you severely. .

Not necessarily. Based on the info that has been datamined I would more then likely go mace/shield. This gives you access to a fire field, triple blast finisher, protection with a heal and what really looks like a 3 sec block that heals you for about 935hp per pulse with 4 pulses. Now I know that the shield is not confirmed and is, at best, making an educated guess but man it looks nice.

Also the fact that if you take Natural Abundance with Tranquil Balance and Shrouding Mists you get +60% outgoing heals and can heal a friend for over 4000 health every 2 sec for 10 energy with the tablet move skill as long as he picks up the tablet drop. That’s almost as much as a guardian’s shelter and that has a 30 sec cooldown.

Also something I noticed is that with the 2 Legends available during the beta none of the skills really synergized with the hammer.

Out of all your utilities only the taunt is 1200 range and with the hammer you don’t want enemies coming to you They need to be 1000-1200 range for maximum damage. I found my self mainly using The Rite of the Great Dwarf to support my allies, though I didn’t relies you could use the spinning hammers with phase smash so that’s one too I suppose.

So before I hold judgment on the hammer I need to see the remaining Legends to see what new skills will be available.

Day events where epic, varied and like a mini story that climax into a boss battle of epicness

Night events hmmm kinda needs some work feels like no matter where you go its the same defend this event or walk this guy hear

what i would like to see

building barricades and fortifications during the day to see them slowly destroyed during the night. will we survive the night? lets hope we put enough work in during the day or events like “quick run out into the night and get supply’s to repair stuff” “good luck making it back tho mwahahahaaaaa”

Its just so jarring the events during the day time are some of the best I have seen from Anet. They are engaging, fun, and a couple of them require a little group coordination to complete.

Then night comes and its just …ugh what the hell happened there Anet. Escort this guy, defend that without any over arching objective other then wait it out until the day comes again. Also once your done it doesn’t matter if you didn’t do anything or held everything the game just kind of resets.

Please Anet go back to the drawing board I know you can do it the daytime events were epic.

Masteries too easy?

Also something to note is that while level 1 of the Glider Mastery required around 250k exp level 2 took over 1 million. So I don’t know what the later levels will require but it seems the 1st ranks are pretty easy while the later ones will take a lot longer.
