Yea .. other game on a big patch day can go out for 12-16 hr, and weekly maintenance usually go up to 4 hrs, so I don’t know what the fuss is all about, really .. a damaging bug happen to your inventory that can affect your game and they tried to prevent it from going bad further by shutting it down and you complain? I don’t get the logic at all. Your compensation is that your account is save from harm. In real world mistakes happen yano .. it’s a human thing to screw things up sometimes.

We have a megaserver now, so if you want to just running around doing open world pve, it doesn’t really matter because everyone is jumbled up inside the megaserver no matter what server you are on. But if you want to do WvW, then I suggest finding a good WvW server.

The way ANet handled the situation was a huge dissapointment to me. I’ve been playing games on a daily basis for the last 31 year and never before in my entire gaming expirience I saw anything like what happend here.

1. Forum is the place for discussing news. The place for a news like ’We’re shutting down the servers’ is here: https://www.guildwars2.com/en/ No, mr O’Brian didn’t do his job well like many people here seem to think. Here’s a very simple question to mr O’Brain: which news is more important to ANet? This one: ‘Bloodstone Weapons, Peakitten Scepter, and Mini Garm in the Gem Store’ or this one: ’We’re shutting down the servers’ and ’we’re having a roll back’ Strangelly enough the news about the kitten gem store is on the main page of the game website, unlike the other, you know, less important news. Looks very bad. You know, other game publishers and devs put that kind of info onto the main page of their main website. And they do that not beacause they’re stupid or have nothing else to do, but because there is a reason for that. A good reason.

2. Again, I’ve been playing MMORPGs since they came to existance and that was the first time when I got disconnected all of a sudden during a fight without any sort of a warning and couldn’t log into the game not because the servers have crashed, but because they shut them down. Name me a company who shuts down their servers without warning people who are already in the game. No, you can’t? Well, this is because there is a reason for not doing that kind of stuff. A good reason.

3. Roll back. Please stop that blah-blah about one time in four years. One time is way too many. Roll backs are distinctive feature of so called ‘private’ (you’re free to read it as ‘pirate’) servers of popular MMORPGs. So ArenaNet managed to reach professional level of those teams who keep private servers. Congratulations!

One of ANet people told me on Twitter that this incident is of a huge importance to them. It sure looks like a lie. Because, you know, nuber one. Also he said that updating the website will take a long time. I wonder, how long does it take for ANet to update a website? Because, you know, it kinda reminds me of all these funny questions: how many charrs is needed to change a light bulb?

I’ve seen MMORPGs born and die many times. If ANet won’t grow a pair and publish the info about what happened on the main page of a game website real soon I’m like 90% sure it’s gonna be the beginning of the end. Because people do not forget stuff like this. And they don’t like when you try to lie to them. Of course, there always would be people who are not gamers and never saw other games, but you can’t rely on them when it comes to your player base.

Sometimes the pressure is hard even in this game, I tag when I am confident enough to do events like in ds or other challenging place, if not I wont do it. The same with answering questions, why would I answer something that I am not so sure about? And sometimes there’s just that moment when you want to do stuff by yourself. You have to remember that there is no ‘must’ in this game, just do what you want to do. If your calling is to help others, then do it, but don’t nag other people to do the same thing and then get angry because they don’t want or feels like doing it, that’s not how things work. The fact is, a lot of people help if you ask nicely and you don’t need tags to do it either.

This warning applied to both parties, the quaggan lovers and their haters… ahem .. Don’t let their looks fool you and deff don’t kitten them off, they can rage like they are possessed by some mystical myth dragon “cough .. steve” if you keep taunting them ~wink wink nudge nudge ;>

People have two choices when it comes to hacking. They can hack, and they can not hack.

Hi everyone, i read a reddit post saying go into your GW2 Folder, rename the gw2.tmp to gw2.exe, but before that, because there’s already a gw2.exe files in that folder, you also need to rename it to oldgw2 or something else. it works for me. good luck to you who have same problem

While I understand with the holiday and all, and the staff is also human and need their time off too, for me, this is still a poor attempt just to make January have a fresh new content so people have something to log in to the game and not go ‘oh noez it’s already 2015 and we have nothing to do Q.Qs’

got the same thing happen to me yesterday, i am very sure i did all the milestones.

They keep chopping up stories because it’s basically 200 gems per story for those who can’t log in at the time. the story itself actually can be done in 2 parts (i don’t mind 3 parts). but nooo lets chop it even more for the glory of $$$$$$. kitten .

Hmm..there’s a Mysterious Fog down in the sewers under LA. When you talk to it/him/her, you say (as an Asura, anyway) ‘What happened to you?’ It isn’t you that says this, but the Fog, as it turns out.

Then the Mysterious Fog disappears, and you can ‘Interact’, and do the picking up animation, but my character didn’t seem to pick anything up. Strange….

Edit: After Mysterious Fog passes a particular place, a ‘Suspicious Area’ (or Suspicious something) appears, and that is what you can interact with, and subsequently do the ‘picking up’ animation. Still picked up nothing that I can see…

More edits: The ‘Mysterious Fog’ says different things if you follow it/him/her…one of which is ‘Wanna play?’, giving the impression it is a child.

Gaile while I feel bad for you because your going to get the front end of this. Can you please stop referring to the team leader of the microtransactions division with that ambiguous tone. We know who she is, and what she does at the company. Crystin Cox has done several pre-laucnh interview and we know she still works there. We know she has the final say when it comes to these things, and she has not said a peep since the first time things went wrong in the gem store (Recipe: Dragon’s Revelry Starcake). Or when the conspiracy theories that supposedly surround her started to inflate. If Ms. Cox wants to up front with us on this issue then let her. I would love to here from her instead of her constantly dodging issues. Especially when she constantly using third party entities to answer for her.

Not to say what your doing is bad. Since this is what you do all the time, and it’s your job. However it would been nice to know this was in the works before it went live. Like a month ago. So public reaction could have been controlled, by getting community feedback way before it went live.

It’s so cool. Before the official forums got involved it was very balanced. Then suddenly out of nowhere, it got downvoted by a bunch of people and the numbers stacked up with hate it.

I didn’t announce it on the official forums first, because I was pretty sure that’s what would happen.

I was guarding the pale tree just because well .. i think she is the most important one, and then i ran into jennah because, she is a human and my toon is a human. after that i go to knut but i saw he was having fun so i let him do his fun, and the same with smodur. i save the asura last, i am on taimi’s side! i hope phlunt trip on his robe. well taimi he got it better.
when i finish the fight and i talk to all the leader i can see that the scary looking smodur was actually the one who care about sylvari the most, he was saying something like as soon as we done helping them here we will go back. i was like, whoah, i am so glad i let you do some smacking helping me around upstairs. he was the one with the nicest dialogue there after the attack.

we should start to collect our own boogers, wrap it in a really nice box, name it with super awesome title and send it to the headquarters. you know .. so they know how it feels. don’t forget to give the descriptions. 0.0001% chance of a fresh baked pie.

locust and elitist are everywhere, infecting this game. that is why they gave you dungeon, to vent all that creepy ego there. not all of us are like you. we just want to play, have fun and not care about any competition. that is not how GW2 supposed to works. you can even buy legendary with real money if you are that insane, and at the end of the day no one cares. crafting ascended back piece already there for everyone to enjoy without having the need to do fotm. i just don’t get it why now so suddenly they are back with their old ugly habit must do this only to get that only. it’s a living story kitten . they should give it to us when we beat the dragon. that battle was epic enough for us to get the items, but noooooo here let me give you 10 glooby glob glob instead. what an awesome logic.
