I’d say no. Mounts for the most part seem like a way for subscription mmo’s to make getting from point to point take longer. Because the longer it takes just travel, the less you get done, the longer you need to be subscribed to see all content. Waypoints are super quick and cheap, with no sub there is no point in adding time sinks.
Also they always have seemed kinda corny to me. I have no idea why, just a personal feeling.

beware the rare Charr mesmer. I got thrown to my death out of hills because I thought a temporal curtain was a line of warding. Despite the clues everywhere around me- I just knew it was a guardian, because almost all Charr are frontline.

I’m going to suggest that you are not seeing many people on the commander tag because there is likely a large untagged guild group in Eternal Battlegrounds. As a member of SOS’s current closest competitor I can tell you that SOS’s NA prime time numbers are really good after a round of recent transfers.

I’d say just close down one or more of the borderlands outside of NA/EU prime. Saying that OCX/SEA flat out don’t get to play wvw is a bad idea obviously. Individual OCX and SEA players contribute disproportionately to weekly scores. If NA servers could trade 50 NA prime players for 25 SEA players they would increase overall ppt. probably by a lot. This does not upset me personally; it’s just the way it works. But, if there are fewer objectives during these times we would see less score disparity.
This is just a way to keep scores closer- not sure if it makes the game more fun overall. Free transfers should be given out in a system change like this so players can spread out of relatively over stacked time zones to avoid the queues something like this would create.
I think in addition to keeping scores closer, this would reduce some of the no-that-fun parts of wvw: float teams, map-hopping, and lonely scouts on team speak watching Watergates on maps by themselves.

I’m really excited for the potential of this area. It has proven to be a troll-fest so far- but that’s to be expected with it being out for only a day. I’d still like to have a troll-proof alternative, but there is some fun to be had in working around the problem.
Some ideas that were floated around is to have bouncers holding the choke point that is the arena entrance during gvg’s. It’s a nice long narrow hallway and it should not be too hard to prevent a few known idiots from crossing. These guys would have to identified and stomped and not allowed to return. If the gvg coordinators can start a fake first round and just focus on killing these troll-adds before getting started for real it could be a quick thing to do and get warmed up at the same time. If you hold off on burning long cool downs it could add very little time.

Each server could create a guild called “Server X spectator.” Everyone has to rep while watching and all are invited to join, but once you are kicked for interfering, you can’t rep anymore and are subject to getting stomped for it.

We could go a step further and make a guild dedicated to being the bouncers, so other servers know who to party up with and call targets on troublemakers. A police force? I might have been on TC too long since this is getting into role-play territory

The solution to very unbalanced WvW popluations must take into account that in EU and NA brackets there are more players during their respective primetimes to go around. There aren’t even enough SEA and OCX players for even a quarter of the servers to have multiple queues.
The best I can figure is to close down a borderland (or two) during the 3/4ths of the day that is outside primetime. This means there are less potential points on the board to go along with less overall players. I don’t like the idea of making the objectives worth less during times of the day, having less objectives seems more fair. I just don’t see anyway around doing this if the goal is keep matchup’s scores more balanced, and encourage players spread out a bit. People will still be able to have a laggy Stonemist three-way at 5am server time if they want. Letting fewer people in each map during off-hours seems like a worse solution:

would encourage people to stay logged on for many hours to avoid queue

I also think transfer costs should be based on WvW rank. It is by far the biggest reason transfer to a server. Also, you probably want to offer free/really cheap transfers if a change is made that puts a bunch of people in queue to encourage destacking.

Let's balance T2 US

While this is a great idea, T1 servers have the capability to outbid T2 servers when it comes to acquiring guilds, and there’s nothing you can do to stop them.

Also, what oceanic/sea guilds are left to fill T2….. majority of them have been bought up and absorbed into T1 servers. Only way this will work is if the transfers come from T1 and good luck getting that to happen. We’ll have to wait for one of them to implode.

[Meow] needs to be congratulated. So far the only guild brave enough to leave T1 for a T2 server. Others should follow their lead. Don’t be a wuss.

Several tier 1 guilds moved to dragonbrand when it was still tier 2. They eventually got bored and left. People are in tier 1 for a reason.

I wasn’t right in the middle of this, (I was decently close to the situation by being on a T1 server at the time) but there is another interpretation. Could be that DB started getting beat by TC in T2 and then the bandwagon leaders then knew the dream of beating their ex-servermates on JQ wasn’t going to happen so they moved on to BG where they would have a better chance. looking back at the scores in May and June I find it hard to believe that the T2 fights were boring since the scores were decently close.

I bailed out of one of the top 3 servers when getting a 10 man guild group all on the same borderland on a Wednesday or Thursday evening started to become a hassle. If we could get 2 more servers up to Tarnished Coast’s population that would be the best situation imo. Even better if they came from one of the top 3 servers.

I’m thinking this league COULD be a good thing. I think basing the win on glicko score gain being the key. It could promote de-stacking which would probably be a good thing. We all know how to gain glicko for several weeks in a row, Kaining did that in January when WM transferred form tier 1 to tier 8. Large guilds moving to lower tier servers sounds like a good way to win glicko-gain based league and is good for wvw in general. We might get some good things out of the league system.

With point 1 i feel that it goes against the games philosphy to punish people for randomly joining in and helping. You would certianly see groups/guilds telling people to go away because they are cutting into thier rewards. I think letting AOE hit many more targets than spvp would do the job well enough. I can understand why you cant have that in small maps with capture points, but in wvw its fine.

Here in tier one flipping a camp can almost be rulled out, at least during the times ive been on. Pretty much someone or a zerg is going to happen by during your assault on the npc’s. I do sometimes escort yaks since i dont run high mobility classes or builds. If you want to get better at 1v1 against thieves or d/d ele’s then its the way to go. I love the moment when me and the yack assasin see each other and stop to figure out how its going to go down.

I think people just need to view the wvw JP’s as group events. I wouldn’t go in alone unless you are ok with being killed, yanked off platform (followed by “xx invader laughs”), or just trolled in general.
I swear the JP in wvw is psychology experiment funded by some university somewhere. I’ve grown to appreciate the weirdness that goes on in there. One group let me get the chest then threw me off the end platform to my death. It’s the only place in the game when you don’t know if an enemy is going to attack you. A mesmer with a portal can become a demigod. Tensions rise as thrown torches in the dark room keep setting a friendly invader on fire. Waves and bows sometimes expire when a 2v1 situation develops.

Another player here that would like to see dueling added, or just call it a two man tournament. The Bane in the blackThe Black Citidel looks like it was made for this sort of thing. I could see myself sitting and watching or participating often. Really, there’s this giant gladiator arena just sitting there- so much awesome could be going down in there.

My solution to the tier 8 situation is to set a floor on ratings. If no server could go under say 800 or 900. I believe that would help increase the chance for movement between tier 7&8, since T8 1st place would be earning more points for wining. I’d imagine you would have to not set it too high and end up with a string of servers vaulting into tier 6 every week.
I have not dug into the formulas used by the Glicko-2, nor do i know the details of Anet’s custom version so I don’t know if this would inflate scores above tier 8 and cause trouble. I’d guess you would get some inflation, compacting or expanding of the total ratings range, or some combination of the two~ if there even would be and effect for 1-7.

They should just make a NA vs EU Map for the highest coverage servers and make room for a competitive T1…….SoS/BG/SoR sounds pretty intriguing, but will never happen .
Not sure if Europe has a server with full coverage or not but if they do…….

Wow thats an idea i can get behind. Half because i think it would be awesome for the top two servers in US and EU go for the world championship belt, half because im being selfish and want SOR, BG, & SOS to happen.

I’m like the idea of 18-20 hours a day of WvW for each of the two zones, US and EU. The “dead” time in each zone is the other zones prime time. I say this as a NA player that works nights, so i’m often playing at odd hours. Chances are this would eliminate some of my regular play time and that would be Ok if it makes wvw better in the long run. It just feels wrong to have players in the EU play on the US servers and vice-versa to get that competitive edge. I think it at least would be a nice experiment to try for a while.
