So Ive been away from Guild Wars 2 for about…4 or 5 months? So today I patch up do some questing in snowden drifts, read up a little on the forums and wiki and this picture has come into my head:
There is now a new large quest which is completely unreplayable with quest progress running off of timelines and the community and starting the quest at this point would be completely pointless other then loot because you just missed a large chunk of it. Which is basically every problem with events times one million. Also you a now constantly stalked by annoying (dodgable) knockdown spamming minibosses that completely destroy questing and leveling flow and leave items which can be turned in for no reward with no way to get rid of them and all theme music has been replaced with either nothing or eery noises(from said minibosses I assume). Also there isnt a single soul in snowden.
Would anyone like to hopefully correct these assumptions before I just completely give up on this game. And please do understand Im honestly asking as my internet searches for these questions have resulted in nothing and Im hoping Im just blundering into this new content without fully grasping it yet
Stats work this normal numbers like you have 300 vitality or something.
Magic find is a probability like say 40% flat chance. Thus it makes sense to be displayed in % even if its an additive. So say if you ate those strawberries youd have a 50% chance. And seeing the sheer amount of perceivable bonuses from my magic find food Im going to have to say its additive.
Because I wanted to play a humanoid and it was either Norn, girly boy, or girly leafboy.
I also liked the interesting mixture of Native American and Norse culture. I also love snow.
You want ranged/ranged but tank? That doesnt fit together. Tank uses melee weapons such as: Sword/Shield Ace/Mace
In order to tank you need to stay close range to the boss. Is this even for dungeons? world-PvE?
You can be Ranged “tank”. Ive done it. Just remember their is no such thing as “tanks” in GW2. Basically the closest thing is a Controller with high survivability.
Go Arms/Defense and then put the rest into either Discipline or tactics depending on what you want to lean on more(defense or offense).
Use Rifle/Long Bow. The long bow is for range before the enemy can get close and lets you keep them away with Pin Down and also mop up swarms of trash mobs. If they can get close you can knock them away with the Rifle and kite them. All this while having a ton of armor when they do hit you.
Your other set will be Rifle/Mace-Shield(probably best in dungeons and bossfights) which will give you staying power when things get close and personal(they always will eventually) while still being able to stun the enemy and then return to ranged combat.
Arms Traits: Rending Strikes or unsuspecting Foe(Depending on set. UF for mace), Crackshot(or opportunist if you like the Long Bow more), Last Chance
Defense Traits: Embrace the Pain or Cull the Weak(Based on situation works well with mace), Sundering Mace or Shield Mastery(Depends on how hard of a target you are fighting), Spiked Armor
Good utilities: Throw Bolas, Kick, Shake it off, Endure pain, Balance stance
Healing skill: Healing Signet or mending depending on what you like the most and how good you are at kiting.
Brutal Shot: Causes 5 bleeds for 10 seconds. 15 second cool down
More Delicious bleeds!!! Mwuahahaha!
I like it.
OP here, this was not meant as a troll post; I don’t think anything is really wrong with the class at all. I’m glad to see that obvious issues like the swap bug are now fixed, I don’t use the swap trait so didn’t know. I am not aware of a bolas bug as i don’t use that really either.
I will say however, that having teamed with multiple warriors in PvE, it is a pretty obvious observation that most people I play with do not really move and juke and kite like I do. I believe that discrepency makes some players feel the class is too frustrating to enjoy.
I read promotional materials about warrior being a movement class, and that is what makes it for me. In fact I don’t feel as flexible on the battlefield with a theif as I do a warrior, although I’ll edmit to not getting a high level theif built up at this point to compare.
I like the complexity and the challenge. If guards are “easy” then so be it, let the ones who can’t master battlefield movement roll a guard. if warriors are buffed it will become a faceroll and everyone will have one, and eventually something will get nerfed, and the whole class will evolve into something it wasn’t intended to be (highly mobile heavy armor with a big bite and lots of styles to bite with).
I would not complain if we got a little buff to regen, but I can live with it as is. I’d rather see current issues resolved, like actually showing the sword crit bonus in the tooltips when traited, actually showing the crit bonus from agony sigils, etc.
In short, I believe that many who dismiss the class as too frustrating are those who are not adept at movement in this game. Consider new styles, new mappings, maybe a fragpedal (awesome item).
The warrior needs no strait buffs it just needs certain tweaks and fixes make certain useless skills useful(Brutal shot is an example). Then their is the bugs but thats a completely different fish.
People complain about the warrior only in terms of PvP as with most of the complaints about classes(which some exceptions such as the gimped Engineer). But not everyone cares about PvP. In fact if you look into just PvE no one can deny that the Warrior is one of the most if not the most powerful class in the game in terms of PvE. It also has a very high skill cap and learning curve which most people arent accustomed to.
So yeah everyone knows that Brutal shot sucks as using it only decreases one’s DPS unless using it in large groups against bosses…where it still doesnt do much. Thus it needs work so here is a thread where we can all post our suggestions on how to fix it and so the Devs can put some attention on this so the rifle stops being the only 4 button weapon in the game.
Personally I thought up two fixes:
More Vulnerability: Kind of obvious. Pump up the vulnerability so it at least doesnt make our DPS drop when alone. 15 stacks maybe?
Replace Vulnerability with weakness: This one just kind of popped into my head at one point. I personally think it fits the weapon theme hell even the skill itself better then Vulnerability.
Why do people think rifles are overpowered? Is there some joke I’m missing out on?
People hate big numbers. Bursts skills a very similar to the notorious Rogue from WoW and thus…people complain.
The rifle is actually needs some work. Such as making Brutal shot actually do something useful other then lower your DPS.
The biggest problem you will have as a warrior in PvP(despite what this thread makes it out as) is actually finding a group. A lot of players have very odd expectations of what a warrior is expected to do and will often just dump you for a Guardian…or complain that you arent a Guardian the entire time. In my experience.
Warriors are extremely effective in Dungeons and are the best class when dealing with Bosses due to our direct control, anti control, and anti-instant kill skills. When fighting some of the more chaotic bosses(Ascalonian catacombs Twins and…that other guy that drags everyone in for instakill…forget the name) are a great example. A good warrior can just wade right through all the disruption the boss can throw at you and proceed to strangle him to death. Hit one twin with Pin Down, swap weapons, Rifle Butt the other one away, Throw Bolas., kill. Thats what I used.
My best recommendation is Rifle/Low Bow or Rifle/Mace-Shield depending on party composition. The former gives you a lot of control with more immobilizing and AoE damage while the former again gives you a lot of control with more stuns and more survivability for a more well rounded team where you can specialize into a role. Both giving you a ton of single target damage output.

The problem with this build is when your pet dies…then your a sitting a duck. And I can always tell when a ranger is BM built with survivability. First kill the pet then the ranger.
I think you just described the strategy used against Rangers regardless of build.
Ally counts as any friendly character or player with some exception…last time I checked. So yes it should.
Hmmm is this a really bad troll post or just a couple really ignorant players not understanding the short comings of the class? I cannot tell.
Usually you only see these posts when actual changes are coming. Are good changes in the works?
Whats wrong with Warriors: Guardians are overpowered and we are bugged.
The sad truth. How do I know this? Tanking is not supposed to be possible in this game so says the Devs and yet Guardians can tank.
We do have a few issues that could be worked out like unpowered stances and banners though.
It’s possible that the umbilical cord is attached to a different location for Asura. (Maybe their heads? You need lots of blood going to those massive brains, after all. XD)
Well, no, if it was you would be able to see an indentation where the connection was. Asura are completely flat over their entire bodies.
Not all mammals have obvious mammary glands either. Female asura might have flat nipples that aren’t readily obvious. (The fact that female asura have a “bra” for their underwear suggests that they do have them, but they’re almost impossible to notice under clothing.)
I actually have armor that shows the entirety of my (female) character’s right breast… There is definitely nothing there. It could be hidden under skin or something, but I’ve never heard of such a thing (unless it’s a marsupial, but even their pouches are really, really obvious).
I’m seriously thinking Asura are not mammals. They may be ovo-viviparous or histotrophic viviparous.
Sexy!
Also I always thought “excelsior” was a popular brand of Asuran soda.
I feel that Guardian fits Asura very well specifically because of one thing: Power Armor.
Or in this case Golem Armor. Warrior relies on their own strength while the Guardian seems to rely more on their “magic” while wearing heavy armor basically their strength comes from what their wearing and their intellect not from their physical power. This fits Asura perfectly.
Roll a Collage of Statics Asura Guardian and try to picture all of your Guardian powers coming from a Golem Suit power armor system. Its really fun. The Shoulder armor also helps this.
Male bleeding: “Im hemorrhaging!”
Male Combo: “Such Synergy”
Low on health: “Why wont anyone help me?”
And this thread is a great example of why I have trouble playing Charr.
Too. Kitten. Debate. Generating.
Why play a support Guardian when you can play a banner warrior that has better mobility with better cooldowns and better ranged options? Not a troll just really want to learn to play.
Yes become a banner Warrior where you have shorter cooldowns, swiftness(not), charge(not) and have the inability to do crap other then stand their and spam your 1 buff.
Banner warriors suck compared to a support Guardian plus Banners cant even be kept up. They simply dont last with their long cooldowns and not very long durations.
Warriors do have some great support ability but thats most in their unique support effects like reviving boosts.
I don’t see anything happening that isn’t inline with that description.
1. Heavy armor class relying on boons: check
2. Area control and position domination: check
3. Condition removal: check
4. Need for melee range: checkAdmittedly, I would like to see #2 a more significant aspect of the class (and have a larger impact on ranged weapons) but I don’t believe the specific details you mention are not inline with the overall feel of the class based on the given description.
1. Boons? Really? Compare the boons we give out vs those a Warrior gives out. Pretty sad really.
2. Area control? Really some how sitting on a point is supposed to be fun. Well sure go a head and be the master of boredom for all I care.
3. Condition Removal – seems ok
4. Need for mele yes, but limited ways to stay in mele. Any class in the game can simply run away from us.
Im sorry but…what? When I played Guardian after only using Warrior I found boons I didnt know existed. Guardian can get anything a Warrior can in terms of boons stability, vaigor, swiftness whatever compared with easy apply of Protection, Retaliation, and the occasional aegis. And ALL of the powerful boons have shorter cooldowns their our big boon powers.
Guardians are fine. Warriors are crap but Guardians are fine.
Am I missing something?
I see people claiming to just craft high level rares to salvage ectos from.
Wouldn’t this result in a net negative of ectos? Since crafting the item requires ecto and there is only a chance to salvage 1 or more?
As a side note, why would anyone want to do that anyway, as the cost of materials is more than the potential ecto gain anyway? Unless you plan on leveling other crafting professions/other chars, it would seem to be more efficient to just sell the mats and buy up the ectos needed.
As a jeweler I understand what you mean.
Jewelry for some reason is the ONLY discipline to require ectos for level 80 rare crafting. It’s ridiculous I know smh.
The rest can just make whatever whenever…they only have to gather a few more items they can actually farm.
Id rather go through the trouble of level 80 ecto gathering then levels 10 through 80 of FCM gathering…
I always chalked Asura Warriors to alchemical alterations(Think The Witcher style). Asura Guardians however used power armor or “Golem Suits”.
But thats my thing.
