It appears as though this story instance is bugged. After reporting to Steelbane and being sent to the arena to fight the gladiators – the instance does not progress.
Killing the four initial gladiators does not trigger the next wave.
I have been using Google Chrome since the game initially launched in 2012. I have never had issues running the “/wiki” command in game to pull up the wiki quickly while running the game. However, recently Chrome ran an update and since then I haven’t been able to get GW2 to launch Chrome.
The /wiki command will not work, and neither will attempting to clicking on their promoted links (currently the ESL Finals).
I tried checking my privacy settings in Chrome, but nothing has changed. Any advice?
Oh lordy. If SAB does return – we get the wardrobe on the 15th… Collect ALL THE SKINS!
so LA different zones? this has potential

As far as exploration goes – The “new” Lion’s Arch is where you will be.
The “old” Lion’s Arch arch will probably only be accessible for personal story related activity only. Which is VERY cool all the same. It shows that they are really starting to show us that the events that occurred in the PS are in the past.

Step 1: “ctrl-f”
Step 2: “Lion’s Arch”
I say although they’ve tried some pretty obscure maneuvers – I never saw this coming.
Everyday under the Dailies achievement category there is one daily that counts for the Wintersday meta reward.
It is marked by the Wintersday icon.
Hope that helps!
This dungeon is a huge sigh of relief after their last. Canach’s lair felt like a huge step back after the Molten Facility, and although it was just a boss fight, we really needed one to rival MF’s encounters and length.
Homerun indeed. Gj Anet
Even if we figure that the Rich Coffer has a guaranteed drop… I would advise NOT to buy it right away, until we see how frequent they drop from the regular coffers. Unless your intent is to simply support ANet, then have at it.
I have to say. I actually enjoyed the first patch of SoS way too much. SO much more to do on the island itself, more scavenger hunts and loot. The finale of F&F set the bar high and I felt as though SoS started to meet that expectation.
Granted the dungeon was short, not really story driven, and imo awkward.
It isn’t a dungeon at all… So we shouldn’t judge it as one…
They didn’t advertise it as a dungeon in the patch notes. I don’t want to have to go back and find all the prepatch hype where someone might have called it a dungeon, but it’s referred to as a “Boss Encounter” – which is fitting. So sure the boss might not be up to the Molten Facility precedent… But it shouldn’t be judged on the same scale. It was fed to us as a boss encounter… simply that. :/
“Hunt Down Canach
Join Kiel for a mission to capture the deadly, desperate Canach! In this all-new story DUNGEON, you’ll enter Canach’s Lair on a subterranean solo mission under the island. If you defeat the elusive sylvari you’ll unlock a challenging all-new group adventure!” https://www.guildwars2.com/en/the-game/releases/may-28-2013/At any rate, you’re missing the point, what we are dissatisfied in, is not the fact that they call it a dungeon, but that the story is all but nonexistent and that the instance fails to live up to previous instances… even personal story instances are of better quality difficulty and length.
Yes, the island events are fun… but once again that is irrelevant to this thread.
The title of the thread is “Huge Step back from Molten Facilty”. Where the OP talks of his disappointment with SoS because it didn’t end with a bang like F&F did. I was just saying that it isn’t fair (But who gives a kitten about that) to compare the two (the two being Canach’s Lair and Molten Facilty) because they are totally different.
1) Molten Facility was, basically, the finale of the arc – taking down the facilities the alliance built. While Canach’s lair isn’t really the finale. I think Rob even posted somewhere on here there’s more to come next week.
2) Dungeon vs. Boss Encounter. I know we were all expecting another huge kitten dungeon, but content is content is content.
I totally get the point that the disappointment comes from it not being more story driven… But this thread is about comparing a dungeon to a boss fight.

You’d have called it “Instanced story” or anything else, people would have been fine with it but you can’t reasonably call it a dungeon. There’s like one big room with a boss, most personal story instances are longer than that.

This thread shouldn’t exist…
Thanks for bringing attention to the fact people should be getting their back piece,
but the karka shell isn’t leaving the 28th with the next patch.
Just as in Flame and Frost you had access to everything in the updates until the arc ended.
Also, both the karka shell back piece and the flower censor are advertised in the May 28th update page…
If you really want the skin, farm the hell out of SouthSun and don’t consider purchasing the crates from the gem store until the event is about to close down. I’ve farmed skelks for about 4 hours total in SS and have gotten 6 SS crates to drop. On the sixth I got a claim ticket to pop out.
It does indeed move. Whenever you have your weapon drawn.
Or leave it as it is and not punish people who wanted to go for a shiny skin :P
I hope they give out something cool at the end of Retribution. But if it’s a Weapon Skin Ticket… I can have 2 acct bound greatswords?
Necro’ing because It stalled for me rights before Zrii should blow up the barricade. Agent Zrii after the horde of undead leaving me with time lost and frustration. :/
Also: Thanks for allowing the barricade to be hopped over – only to be teleported. :O
I’m going to go with yes. I’m a hoarder so mine’s in the bank… But if you want it back before this story arc is over you can talk to the Order of Whisper’s NPC in the Black Citadel to get another one. (I think, I don’t know if he’ll give you another after your done)
I just ran around the swamp and completed: The Rotting Oakheart DE NW of the swamp, the two fleshreavers spawned from the books in the swamp, and the “Escourt the Packbull/Brew Supply to the Camp in Swamplost” DE started at the Monastery and not 5 seconds after I started the monastery escort the preevents for the Behemoth started.
I’m sure ANet doesn’t post patch notes early for at least 2 reasons.
1) They have already shown multiple times they enjoy a sense of secrecy in their patches and content updates.
2) If something doesn’t go as planned and they need to remove is from the patch (WvW notifications) we can’t gripe saying well it was on de patch notes – Y is it no in game.
Plus reading the notes doesn’t mean much if you can’t play the new updates. All it gives us the opportunity to do is complain earlier.
They are leaving it up so Necro’s can have a chance to play the hero and be OP.
They can attack the seal with their grasping hand attack and such.
Thank you so much Jon for the communication (esp. for the state of the Engineer).
Although I was fine with living with the bugs – It’s great to hear feedback from you guys on the issue.
P.S. But really if you can maybe push out that Eng sigil fix in time for the Wintersday patch I will GIVE YOU my first born child.
Every month this thread pops up. Every month we tell you it resets at the same time as dailies.
The dungeon is insanely fun…
But with no cap?
As time goes on no groups will ever be able to be formed -
Today I tried to get a group together for Scale 6. It took me about an hour to find 4 other people – through gw2lfg and guildchats and even then they kicked me because they didn’t want to find an overflow since I was on a different server.
/frustrated
A LFG tool needs to be implemented soon.
I was very underwelmed with the first two phases, esp. the scavenger hunt (Compared to the Halloween One which was epic this one was very lackluster even if it wasn’t bugged).
But the final phase really blew me away. Amazing meta chain, really felt like you were changing the world as ANet promised. Great boss fight, great rewards.
+1
I’m very impressed.
An event that was rewarding and fun.
:D
First off none of us know how this will turn out but I for one am very excited about the Ascended gear and Im excited for the new dungeon. I barely log into the game anymore because there is nothing for me to do thats interesting anymore. What are people afraid of? because they have to get new gear? what a joke, its just gear whats the problem with that? This is an MMO, makes me wonder what people are actually doing in the game because I could barely even log in anymore because I need a goal to keep playing. Now don’t get me wrong I might not like this but I’m willing to try anything new thats added and to me getting gear is not a big deal. Im used to it already and I’m sure that majority of MMO players are used to it. Its a natural thing in MMO’s. Anet, good move on this one, I just hope the new gear looks nice:)
the fact is this game was not intended to be a “get new gear” if not just from the look of it. This game has been HEAVILY sold as a Refreshing game, in which you would have to work hard just for LOOKING kitten, not for being kitten. I don’t know what kind of slope this new itemization process is going to add, the fact is that this kind of slope SHOULD not exist at all, not even in a form of a symbolic 1% of increase, becuase they bragged HARD of creating a refreshing product. They EVEN put a blog post on “GW2 Unique End Game” and I don’t recall they were talking about “getting new tier of equip there” .. so this is clearly a contradiction and an eye wink for that kind of playerbase that DO NOT BELONG to a game like this.
And your post doesn’t belong in this thread. Let me direct you to the 100+ thread with people who have your same opinion. :]
NOTE: They used the same mechanic in the original game. It allows players to have additional customization with the mechanics that they’ll throw at us in endgame. The whole world is still yours to play and the stats of the new armor type are not going to give you the edge that will allow you to sweep the maps any faster…
Granted, I wish they would have had this system out at launch, but it’s where they need to take the game. The game cannot just sit in one place and expect to grow.
And how are they betraying you? Did they close off the rest of the content they built and say that this new dungeon is all you can do? If you were happy with what you were doing before, this new addition isn’t going to change anything for you. Just keep trucking…
In the previous game, were players stacking infusion only gear? Or did they equip only a few pieces of infusion gear, mixed with their regular exotics? I.E. Will people be running this dungeon in full infusion gear if they are able to obtain it, vs a mix of infusion and exotic?
It’s not anything like the original game. In GW1, infusion made you take less damage from a particular mob that showed up later in the story. It did absolutely nothing else. Runes there functioned like runes here, except without set bonuses.
Did you not read what infusion will do in this game? Infusion will allow you to mitigate some damage from Agony a mechanic a particular mob will deal to you. :P

Understandable. It is progression, but it’s not game breaking. Players who have saved up for their current exotic gear can still benefit from it, and as they take on this new dungeon it will become easier as they start obtaining Ascended.
And I know a lot of the negativity is based on the fact that the initial implementation of this gear is “just the beginning”, but a 36+ page thread before a system is even introduced? That’s amazing.

It’s always 5 o’clock somewhere.
These threads are created after every patch.
Yes it’s unfortunate that we got 3 minutes warning –
But it’s the way its been since launch.
I’m fine with missing some cinematic one-time events, or non relevant ones. But I’m excited I get to attend the event chain finale. I’ll probably just be catching the end, however.
I can say I will. Since I’m “saving money” since this game has no sub. I’ll prolly dump money to get some costumes
Two lucky guys here I see. I was never a greatsword user OR good with the RNG so I passed the skin hunt. The average person would need to spend a kitten ton of gems to get anything I hear. Congrats for getting it
Definitely not a GS user, but I’m hoping to sell it tonight so I can buy Arachnophobia and still net a little profit.
It finally completely payed off!
Snagged this from a Mad King chest I made after getting a couple keys from the MK dungeon.
The RNG gods smiled in my favor today.
We heard your questions about extending the Halloween event for those of you affected by Sandy. Unfortunately we cannot do that, but the reason why we can’t is exciting: We are preparing for our big November update, which will start on November 15, and there will be content that will be in the game prior to that, leading up to the event. But we also want to use this moment to remind you all that your personal safety is much more important than any computer game. If you could be affected by the storm, please listen to the authorities and take every precaution to ensure you and your loved ones are safe. Tyria will still be there once the storm is over.
I’m so happy that ANet made this comment.
I personally am not affected by the storm – But the fact that they do care about their playerbase is reassuring. No they couldn’t accommodate to the playerbase affected, but they still took the time to let us know one way or another.
Second. We have a date for the November patch… highfives self
Yeah I was getting the 5 ToT bags and the choice of 5 rare mats for dungeon complete, and it dropped to 3 of each :/
Right now I would guess it will only be around the 31st. In the past ArenaNet has made the “finale” for their holiday events ore day and one day only.
Will they break from this? Idk. But I’d assume its only going to be that afternoon/evening.
They have provided a ton of content for all players … Even in GW1 I remember there being some content available only for lvl 20s… The difference is now the cap is 80.
I think having a large portion of the content available to all players while reserving a lil bit for higher levels is just fine.
We don’t know much about this event yet guys. And by the post the devs made, it seems like we won’t be missing out on an item, just a neat visual (Probably the first appearence of the Mad King?) cutscene maybe with jokes and such.
EDIT: I basically repeated JaxxModian … Oops. Didn’t read their comment first.
I will admit I was frustrated while doing it. But after a good 2 hours I finally hit the end and like other people have said in other threads – It felt like an achievement. I felt good about finally finishing it.
So I can totally sympathize with your frustration, but not every acheivement in the game is going to be a walk in the park (Or a walk in the mad realm… heh heh).
Finally, I can post here!
Sylvari
Engineer
0% Speed Buff
Phase 3: Comes out at Noon PST.
Phase 1: Came out super late in the evening PST.
For phase 2? It’s really hard to guess and ANet likes keeping things secret :P
I’m having loads of fun so far!
I did burn 20g on keys for BLC chests to no reward, but I knew that chance going in :P
Keep up the good work!
I’m waiting patiently, I had the American presidental debates to hold me over a good 1.5 hours, but I think the lack of significant communication is a lil bothersome.
Regardless, ANet hasn’t failed me yet these last few months, I’ll hold on for another hour
How difficult will it be to fight Jormag? :P
But to answer your question – It’s going to be RNG; So expect the worst and if the rate is high it’ll only make your wallet happier.
But don’t forget, those BL Chest skins are only ONE aspect of the event – You should be anticipating all kinds of nick nacks.
I can understand the distress with legendary weapons. Although I don’t really mind it, it’s still poses as a valid reason to upset some portion of the player base.
However, for the H’Ween rare skins, I think it’s completely ok for them to use a gambling method to obtain them. The reasoning behind that is just because there is bound to be plenty of items and skins to be earned during the event without spending a cent in the gem store, the gamble just gives those who have extra gold or cash an -additional incentive to spend it – Remember it isn’t a subscription game so having money plugs isn’t a bad thing as long as they supplement it with items that can be gained through “f2p”.
Generally there’s something for everyone. In GW there were events in the cities that everyone could participate in, but there were also quests that had varying level req. I would say except something similar.
New build? Possibly fixed?
OP, I understand your frustration – but don’t feel like bots dimish your gameplay. Bots in general are the issue, not specific professions of bots.
I revived a Norn Warrior who was just underwater enough that I couldn’t see all his armor was broken — > My respect for him instantly shattered.
