i think its better, they can have more control of balancing.. but theorycrafting is dead if they do.. look at legion, their doing the same thing.. balancing is much easier for devs and everyone is happy

Scepter generaly is considdered a weak weapon, but it´s the only flexible ranged one we have. Offhand dagger doesn´t bring enough after the RTL nerf. Most play D/F. It offers the best mix of damage and defence. Has the best auto attack lighning whip and shocking aura. Staff is hard to hit the main damage against moving players.
Warhorn is some kind of support weapon and not so bad, but i faild to use it well. It´s to slow.

with default builds, is running d/f still possible? i really like the playstyle of ele being melee.. but since d/d is dead, im wondering if theres any builds thats similar/close to being how aggressive d/d playstyle is

do i need tempest to be viable? since d/d is dead, i feel like ele only hope is s/f ( have yet to find a melee build that works without tempest )

agreed. elite spec should be free in instanced pvp like arenas.. ( not so much with wvw as gear matters there )

i bought gw2 before hot, so spending another $50 just for elite spec dont seem worth it tbh..

Guardian, specifically Dragonhunter, sounds like your kind of class. It’s currently the flavor of the month and the most played class in pvp. High damage trap, in your face, decent survivability and mobility. Have at it.

Honestly, your best bet is to play for free and try every melee class in the starter zones to get a feel. From your post, if I had to guess, I’d say rogue, but you might find warrior or even mesmer to your liking.

Just because melee class isn’t so good in one game, doesn’t mean they’re bad in another game. That’s just comparing apples to oranges. And both are two different games.

Warriors or any class for that matter is only as good as who is playing the character.
I have a few warriors out of 11-12 characters total, and they do have decent survivability and very high mobility. They also hit particularly hard if played well.

Many people would recommend playing that class before trying any other.

i rather play a class that requires high skill, so i can learn and progress instead of playing an easy class, anyone can pick up.. then went i want to try a hard class, its back to square one again..

im not comparing gw2 to wow, im just giving an example.. so its easier for me to give you guys an idea of what playstyle i enjoy.

So just found out that both of the class i wanted to tryout are either nerf to the ground or isn’t even viable in arenas… ( ele, thief )

i dont own hot, i want to give this game a few weeks before buying tbh..

A little background,

im a melee type guy, i love getting in your face and bashing it to death. Im a hardcore pvp’er i only do pve for fun or with guild mates

gw2 is downloading atm, so i cant research myself.. and i know play what i like.. but im a casual player.. so i wont be putting much time until i get hook into gw2.

Fan of GS/H wombo combo for warriors, but lately ive been finding 0… yes 0 other warrior pvp’ers

He is using SB2 + teleport + SB2 (second use detonates it). If you port the arrow will port with you, so you can detonate on top of your enemy.

Also, backstab is your nr1 skill while you are stealthed with a mainhand dagger. Which hits quite hard, from behind.

It would be easier to explain if you linked the video.

The most basic combo is black powder to heart seeker which gives you stealth, if you point your camera straight to ground, the heart seeker has shorter range and is easier to stack multiple times on one field.

About the combo, it may be that he used black powder, then used heart seeker from the field to hit enemy while gaining stealth, starting the backstab animation and using traited steal before the attack hits.

Also if you are stealthed and use shadow shot, you can chain it instantly with backstab if you start the bs animation before the shadowshot lands.

All the skills can be used with steal too, if you have low hp enemy running away, you can use heartseeker and just before the the attack hits, you use steal to get next to your enemy and land the hit.

Just stick with any profession, and learn to be proficient in it. That means knowing how to apply boons, remove conditions, and learning combo fields and finishers.

After that, determine what you want to do with that class. There’s different builds (stats and traits) for pvp and pve.

Once you do this, then choosing a main profession is just based on what weapons and utilities you find most enjoyable.

Remember that you can get an extra blast in your firefield by using earth 5 and cancel it right away (by moving left and right). Your earth 5 skill will only have a cooldown of a few seconds.
