I still vote for that guy named Turret Syndrome, wish I had thought of that
Glad you like it
I still don’t see the buff. Is it active yet?
That really isn’t what pay to win means. This pay to own. Anyway, what (if anything) would you add/ remove from a gem store utility pack?
Speaking from my own experience, it was impossible to win until I paid for the game. Only after I paid was I able to win.
Hey guys. I just played PvE nonstop for the past few days and now I know why it will not succeed without some changes.
The reason that PvE is so small of a population compared to WoW is because of the toxicity of its members. It isn’t an Anet problem (although they have stuff they need to work on), it is a community problem.
Every single encounter someone would make a comment about those kitten new players joining and ruining PvE. (And for reference I was in Dungeons, World Events and only a few times in Champ Train Farm [like 3?])
“Those dumb noobs ran to Oak first! GG "
“WHAT ARE YOU DOING AT THE OAK?!”
“Why don’t you speak my language, commie?”
“Why is your armor not infused, noob?”
“Where is your legendary skin, nubcake?”
“CoF runs take 2 minutes longer now thanks to these scrubs.”
“Can you bring your warrior instead?”
“Lol, why have you not memorized every mob and boss tell in every dungeon path?”
“You can’t solo Jormag, you dork. He’s not Svanir.”
And trust me there were much worse comments that aren’t appropriate to post on the forums.
After hearing all this, I fear that I won’t be going back to PvE. It’s quite sad, really.
my record was to stay invulnerable in the enemy zerg for 16 seconds and then jump out invisible.
they all attacked me and stopped on their way to the tower they wanted to defend
How did you manage 16 seconds? :-O
Like I mentioned, too many people are defending bad players because “its ok to have fun and not be elitist”, I suppose gw2 is a casual game at that regard but just don’t go with it, try and play more risky to get better experience, it will be more fun.
Your rant sure demonstrates that you’re having a lot of fun.
Yes, GW2 has flaws. But the bigger ones have very little to do with what you write.
Don’t write while you’re upset.
I really hate to bump this but can anyone answer to the two questions above?
Things could be dying faster in PvE with a staff (vs. a GS) because you’re fighting fairly close and getting boons or because you’ve got low power/high condition gear?
It’s difficult to stay at range with the GS unless you’ve got a group holding aggro or your illusions are keeping the enemy occupied. The cripple from the GS phantasm and from Crippling Dissipation should help keep foes at range while GS #5 can push back foes out of melee range. I’d recommend mainhand sword or a staff as your second weapon set if foes do get close which they will do in WvW.
I’m saddened by your loss. It’s warms my heart to hear that you found the words and were a source of comfort for others during this trying time.
This thread makes me feel privileged to be part of this community.

It’s been happening to me on SBI and another guildie who plays a lot of WvW on TC. I’ve had awful skill lag at times where ground targeting skills refuse to activate.
A commander had the same problem and kept disconnecting which made it very difficult for him/her to lead.

Imho, you need to go through everything, in order, that you’d want a new player on your side to know.
- What is the general difference between the 4 maps?
- What are the basic archetypes in WvW? Tank, scout, DPS, etc.
- What is the difference between the various types of siege equipment and when are they best used?
- What is the difference between a sentry, a camp, a tower, a keep, and a castle?
- Why is supply important and what do dolyaks do?
- What are the various timers involved in WvW and what are their lengths?
- What are the various dynamic icons on the map such as swords, orange swords, etc.?
The answers to these should be put into the WvW interface under a Tutorial tab. A map with arrows and icons next to short notes should suffice.
Honestly, I find it odd that you’re going to do a steam to answer questions about the basics. The players who need it most probably won’t see it. If you can get the info into the game, that would serve its purpose.
“Shatter is not nerfed right now but just thinking about it possibly happening, even if it never does, just robs all the fun out of the game.”
Did I get that right?
Take a break from the forums and play the game and experiment with the new possibilities. You may actually have, Dwayna forbid, fun.
The Mesmer in GW1 was great but those who say that it was nothing like the GW2 Mesmer are, imho, paying more attention to visuals rather than game mechanics.
Illusions in GW2 are similar to hexes in GW1 but a greater emphasis has been placed on shattering them, while GW1 had just one Mesmer skill to shatter your own hexes (iirc). Hexes in GW1 were mostly fire and forget while illusions in GW2 require more active management.
The GW1 Mesmer was great at disruption, shutdown, and interruption that was well suited to the better defensive options of GW1, but that would be too overpowered (especially in teams) in GW2.
I missed the GW1 Mesmer early on but after settling into the GW2 Mesmer I find that I can do many of the same things as the GW1 Mesmer while enjoying a more active playstyle. Honestly, I’m not sure I’d want anything carried over.
Except gambling as a psychological disorder is compulsory.
It’s not “compulsory” but rather a compulsion indicative of poor self-control or emotional management, at least in certain contexts.
Substances or activities that are addictive also tend to be fun. You’re sliding down a pretty slippery slope towards advocating the removal of many enjoyable features of our environments.
For the most part, gambling, alcohol, cigarettes, and even video games are enjoyed safely by the vast majority. Abolishing them because of a minority who are susceptible to addiction would not address the underlying problem of poor self-control, which likely means they would find other avenues for their addictive behaviors anyway.
