Yes sadly it really is a bug that has been going on for years now and that not many players even know about trying to spread as much awareness as I can, and suggest everyone else do the same

So many of the pets are grossly underpowered. Thats why I mainly stick with the HoT pets. So many things about Ranger that needs love. This is your chance Arnet to take the Soulbeast and do something fantatastic for us. It has great potential. There are some really good suggestions on this forum I hope they read and take heed of.

Yes it really is a shame and this bug makes the majority of pets even weaker, along with many of our skill and trait options.

Currently 39 out of our 50 Ranger pets are bugged.
Quickness will only increase the attack speed of regular attacks from devourer, spider, smokescale, bristleback or wyvern pets. On any other pet, quickness does not increase regular attack speed.
Several pets being introduced in Path Of Fire are also unaffected by quickness such as the Sand Lion and Cheetah.

This severally reduces the abilities of the grand majority of our pets, a rangers primary mechanic, and furthermore it reduces the effectiveness of a lot of our skills and traits that specially grant quickness to our pets, that being:
Quickening Zephyr
Zephyr’s Speed
“We Heal As One”
Fortifying Bond
+Strider’s Defense
+Instinctive Reaction
+Instinctive Engage
+Live Fast

Sadly alot of players are unaware of this, its hard to notice unless your really paying attention, but its actually a big loss to a rangers damage output when your playing with a pet that isn’t affected by quickness. Against mobile targets most pets cant even hit the enemy unless its affected by quickness do to their slow reaction speed.

This bug needs to be addressed now and it been here for far too long.

Clearly this isn’t just an issue for Beastmasters but all Rangers in general, as a pet consists of up to 30% of a rangers damage (depending on the pet) and a rangers strongest CC skills.

Pets are still bugged, quickness doesn’t affect 41 out of our 52 pets. Including some of the new ones being released in afew weeks.
We need this fixed asap!

Pretty sure tiger gets an attack increase though I doubt it’s a full 50% IAS.

No, sadly. I wish it did, but using Tiger for raids is a big reason I wish it worked.
Its been tested thoroughly by myself as well as other players, the bug is even listed in wiki itself.
The only pets affected by quickness are the few I already mentioned.

As rangers we have several abilities and traits that give our pets quickness.

Quickening Zephyr
Zephyr’s Speed
“We Heal As One”
Fortifying Bond
+Strider’s Defense
+Instinctive Reaction
+Instinctive Engage
+Live Fast

But for those who don’t know, currently quickness will only increase the attack speed of regular attacks from devourer, spider, smokescale, bristleback or wyvern pets. On any other pet, quickness does not increase regular attack speed.

That’s 41 out of 52 of our pets that gain nothing from quickness!
I’ve only tested two of the new pets, the Sand Lion and Cheetah, and they aren’t affected either.

This further reduces the chances of people picking up pets that are already considered under powered compare to top tier pets.
In PvP our targets are obviously alot more mobile than PvE so getting hits in fast is VERY important. But the majority of our pets attack too slow and therefore don’t manage to hit anything for the most part, and quickness would help this quite abit.

Zephyr’s Speed is a great idea of a trait! Switch out your pet and give it quickness, allowing it to use those essential abilities like dazes and knockdowns right when you need them…except it fails to work when your pet doesn’t benefit from a powerful boon that your specialized in pumping out.

Its a MAJOR PROBLEM to anyone specializing in Beast Mastery, because it really hinders what we can pull off with our pet and with our Ranger as a whole. Putting traits into this line lowers our Rangers damage/survivability compare to other trait lines. And when you do throw your traits in here, you need that increased reaction time and damage, when your giving up so much. Those Taunts/Blinds with F2 are sometimes essential to get off. And when you have a Grandmaster trait that gives your pet such a powerful boon and it doesn’t even affect it, its extremely frustrating for one, underwhelming, and unhelpful.

I have been pushing this for ages, now please fix this Anet. Give our pets some love for once.

Fail to see how anyone is excited about this, you lose 30% of your damage with pet gone, reden many of your utilities/traits near useless, just so you can gain skills your pet can already use and +400 stats….lol no thanks ill pass.

I experienced it as well. If you re-target first slightly faster than if you don’t, but quickness does not affect its attack whatsoever and the responsiveness literally causes toon deaths. Could not get a wolf fear off for what felt like an eternity…3 hits from thief b4 it went off after pet swap re-target and downed.

Quickness has been bugged since the start of the game, and never affected the majority of pet attack speed anyways, it only affects devourer, spider, smokescale, bristleback or wyvern pets.

Not excited at all.
It sports a very poor mechanic that brings nothing to the table that we can’t already do.
And attempts to cater to players that don’t even enjoy playing Ranger.

Whiners for petless ranger need to understand that Ranger is pet class, and if they don’t enjoy it they need to reroll to any of the other 8 professions. Stop trying to take away the only profession us pet lovers can play.

I’m sure its been suggested before but I figure I’d throw it out there anyways.
I sorta liked our old “Guard”, in the fact that it allowed us to place our pets in a spot.

I feel like we should really have this in our pet toolbar, where we send our pet to the location we targeted, but the pet will not attack (Unlike the old skill). He’ll just stand there motionless until you command him to attack from where you placed him.
I find it would help make some pretty interesting plays in PvP and save alot of pet lives in PvE.

Not only that, but it renders many of our skills such as “Guard” and countless talents utterly useless…

No, it doesn’t render those skills useless (pet dying however do – which reminds me, this might be an excelent way to save your pet aswell, then pop it out a few seconds later), you just pop out of the beast form. And it doesn’t take it away. It literally adds to the mechanic.

Not that it surprises me how people to refuse to understand that.

Ok then, since I clearly cant understand. Explain how the pet is going to grant might to my group when he’s gone. How is my pet going to hit faster and harder with “Sic ’Em!” while he’s no where to be found? “Search and Rescue!” with an invisible pet? Maul ain’t gonna do much when my pets inside of me.

All professions have mechanics.
Necromancer has shroud, Elementalist has attunements…etc
Ranger has pets. Like it or not that’s their mechanic.

Elite specilizations are supposed to improve on these mechanics, from what I understand.
Necromancer got an advanced shroud, Elementalists were now able to overload their attunements.
Rangers got Druid. A specialization that did nothing with our mechanic. It didn’t empower pets, it didn’t help pets, it didn’t interact with our pets what-so-ever.
While I love support, it was a huge disappointment how your pet played literally no role in your new found power.

And now? We get Soulbeast! Oh what a cool sounding name, it surely has some major influence on our pets?
Nope.

While we still don’t know much about the capabilities of this new specializations its clear its a disappointment already.

Love the game Anet, but this whole Season 3 (and I’m really sorry because I really wanted it to be good) has been a mess. Then this episode came out today…and I’m just utterly disappointed. What was that garbage????

Don’t get me wrong I love these new achievements, being an achievement hunter and all, and sending us to past maps to boost activity there! Great new Legendary weapons, and cant wait to get my trinket! Haven’t had a chance at the fractal yet but I hear its amazing!

BUT THAT “STORY”!

I’m just dumbfounded.
And that was the big GRANDE FINALE???
I’m more lost then I ever was. As several people already stated, we’ve just hopped from one random encounter to the next with no resolutions!


Why in the world did we have to go through that cringe worthy “Oath”? They couldn’t trust us to go after Lazarus (which posed absolutely no threat to us right now with the White Mantle out of the picture…so why are we even here???) even though we were going after him a few episodes ago…until he turned out to be Balthazar (Don’t get me started on that “twist”…)
You turned Livia, an amazing Guild Wars character into some super annoyingly unfunny, common npc look alike. Shes darn powerful and holds(held?) the scepture of Orr, yet in the instance she drops like a fly every five seconds.
And that ending???? I don’t even know what to say right now, aside from the fact that I really don’t have much hope for the expansion

Once again I’m sorry Anet, but please put more time into your writing, or change something here, I’m really giving up on Guild Wars after all these years, sad to say. =/

Why is this?
It pretty much negates the whole Grand Masters trait “Zephyr’s Speed”, expecially considering its in the Beastmaster specialization.
And makes some pets, expecially Bristleback and Smokescale (which already outclass other pets in damage), even more of a powerhouse.
The Beastmaster Grandmaster traits are pretty Sub-par and strange (Honed Axes….)in general.
I hope to see a change to these issues.

The buff Water Spirits provides to your party members – “Water Spirit(6s): 75% chance to heal yourself on hit.” does not scale with your characters Healing Power, nor the player your healing’s Healing Power. Its a flat heal and a very poor one at that.
It’s the only spirit buff that does not scale in some way with any stat, and its extremely terrible to begin with. Definitely needs a fix.

So exactly why are they even kittentier then before?

“Guard”, literally became “Protect Me” (wow….great job on that change….) except it blocks less damage for you, and if you have a significant amount of allies around, your pet will explode in a split second.
At least before it was a nice low cooldown so we could perma-swiftness+regen our allies, and also gain alittle protection with “Heal As One”, and a very nice party condition removal in conjunction with Rune Of The Trooper" (while it still worked…)

“Protect Me” – a 4 second protection, and one of the most unreliable cc in the game. Taunt the next enemy who attacks you, to AFTERWARDS (it will not block that attack or anything) attack your pet. So you basically have no control over the single person your taunting, and you better pray to god the next person who attacks you is in range or it does nothing.
The old “Protect Me” was garbage, expecially compare to Signet Of Stone, but now its absolutely worthless.

“Search And Rescue” – the only shout that actually got a change for the better….finally. Was about time they took away that ridiculous recharge. It did get an overly nice buff tho, and I won’t be surprised to see it nerfed to nothing again.

Come on Anet, honestly….rangers have the worst utilities in the game and all you do is screw it up more and more, first spirits, now shouts…cant wait to see your “buff” to Survival skills…

The runes sixth effect : Shouts remove a condition from each affected ally.
Doesn’t remove conditions from your allies when using any ranger shouts.

Anet does it yet again, releases yet another pile of garbage specialization that can only be described as stupidly random. Honestly, whoever is designing all these needs to be fired.
How on earth does anything this specialization can do connect to our current ranger? It does ABSOLUTELY nothing for our pet…OUR MAIN PROFESSION MECHANIC, we turn into some freaking stupid shadow transformation, we’re given a bunch of utility skills that pretty much do nothing but turn us into some terribad elementalist, we’re given staff a weapon that does nothing but heal which has always been absolutely worthless in the game and nothing is going to change that. And on top of it, what the hell are with these HORRIBLE animations….uhg honestly, could you made a more horrible specilization? Guess we’ll see in the next expansion…

I was disappointed with pretty much every specialization you’ve release, yet I only really play ranger, and after today…yet another disappointment.
Been a major fan since Guild Wars 1, but ever since these expansion reveals, you’ve done nothing but disappoint.

I’ve completely lost faith in you guy.
