You’re right, I’m losing interest because of the lack of future PVP prospects. A carrot would be greatly appreciated. I’m sure I’m not the only one losing interest.

Just to confirm that this bug is still happening, it just happened to me today. New wave is not triggered after two quaggans were killed.

It’s okay to have casuals test these things, but there HAVE to also be competitive/semi-hardcore people among the playtesters. A healthy mix would work best.

Hello. This is just to confirm that this issue is still a thing, it happened to me just now. And yes, one of my allies died and got revived, it may be related to that.

I’m just getting tired of all these posts telling people to “stop pushing for e-sports, it’s not going to happen”, when the only people that are openly stating this are obviously joking.

And the people that may have this in mind are really conscious of the fact that there is a lot of tweaking, building, structuring to be accomplished before this will even be a thing, and hence are careful not to state their ambitions out too loud. So yeah, there’s not really a lot to complain about IMO.

I’ve had the same feeling, and I’ve been thinking for a while why this could be. It’s still better than an MMO with no story in my opinion, by the way, but I’ve come to think there’s only one main factor that kills my immersion and subsequent lack of motivation to continue PS:

Too many branches! What’s the story you want to tell? Of course, in a way it seems to “matter” what I choose to do, but (presumably) because there’s so many branches the way this is then being portrayed in my home area or elsewhere in the world is just really lacking. I feel that a focus on what kind of story/experience they want to deliver, and less on “choices” with only limited results, would make it better. It would also allow more resources to make the story more epic (cutscenes, writing, gameplay, voice overs). Also, sometimes the writing’s just too quirky. I’m fine with humor and light moments, but not if it’s by characters and/or events that don’t seem to matter much, suddenly disappear or don’t seem to remember me etc.

Still love this game though! But story delivery can definitely be improved. There’s so much cool lore to draw from!

Also keep an eye out for Dante’s meta build list on reddit. I think they’re working on updating it after last week’s patch.

Is this new or have I just never noticed this before? I think it’s pretty neat that we can practice on these NPCs now (they’re in the eastern part btw).

You should just make a general filter and save it. I think there’s loads of CAs with similar settings.

That is great that you love 5v5 and that you dislike 8v8, but so what?

Having 8v8 can never do anything to hurt 5v5. Removing 8v8 will never add anything to 5v5.

I’m saying I liked both but for different reasons. And for the zerging (8v8) we have TDM now.

Just saw it, forgive me the notes were a little long. Overall I’m very happy with the patch but don’t quite understand this change. I thought it was always nice to be able to see how experienced your opponents/team mates were after a match. Now, why build up rank if basically nobody will ever be able to see your rank?

For SPVP, back in November you’ve shown us a number of objective based new game maps that you were working on. Are any of these close to being implemented? Do you consider releasing some of these temporarily so that you can see how the meta develops around these modes, before making the final decision to support them or not?

Hard to call at this moment! Right now, I’d like to see Arena, not too much of a fan of frequent respawning mechanics, but this may change as we finally get our hands on the new map soon!

I think the biggest thing holding me back is keeping track of my illusions and knowing when to shatter. I have really hard time effectively using the diversion and distortion shatters.

I’m a better engineer than mesmer, but I keep coming back to mesmer because it’s more fun to play.

That is definitely hard, and I agree about mesmer being fun! Since you’re one of the most active devs on this forum, would you consider coming on for one of the future Ready Up’s? I think we’ve seen most devs that hang out here except for you!

I main Mesmer, and I think Evan has a Mesmer alt. Branden plays Ele, and Allie use to play Ele before she went over to the dark side and started playing Necro. I don’t know what Roy and Tyler B run.

I’ve seen Roy play engineer in solo queue. He didn’t have his tag on which is probably why nobody recognized him and he didn’t get targeted :p.

I play on both EU and NA, but I agree one of the nice things about NA is running into Devs once every while!!

4) Playing PvE/WvW

I actually never bothered before, and it’s quite fun! Jumping puzzles are fun and some of the maps, views and artwork are simply amazing. Just don’t expect a big dynamic challenge and it becomes instantly more enjoyable. In terms of challenge, I feel PvE is usually too static and predictable and WvW too dependent on numbers. But yeah they have their charms and I’m just gonna enjoy this and not wait too desperately for PvP stuff to come.

Thanks for this, a good thing is it’s not simply an individual raging, but a collective response with a few concise points. Hopefully it will be picked up upon!

Oh yeah, well if you make them all into dyes (which you really should now that you have all this) it will take you an hour at least more.

Game’s not ready for this, but perhaps in Summer 2015 (not a joke). Build templates are necessary, or just having three premade builds per profession (giving 24 possible builds to start with). What happened to the community fighting game? That was a good idea although even that currently lacks a lot of the infrastructure to support it (mostly build templates and balance).

Well, at least you’ll have around 350-400 unidentified dyes. That should contain some good ones. I got 2 celestials out of around 100 unidentified dyes, that alone was 50 gold.

But yeah, definitely not worth all the unhealthy clicking. Probably took you around 3-4 hours of solid consistent manual labor? No pee break?

Finally, salvation!! I guess the patch has been approved and is ready to go!

+1 for smite’s system. Simple keyboard combinations (V,V,A for example) will let a voice shout out crucial information for the team (“incoming Home”, “buff coming soon”), which is always better than having to type and read it in chat.

Heya guys, does anyone know if we get to keep the possibility of earning experience in PvP after the upcoming glory removal patch? Without glory it doesn’t seem possible to get tomes of knowledge, will exp be rewarded at the end of the matches instead?

We’ll get Tomes after each rank level. At a certain point even up to 5 per rank obtained if I’m not mistaken.

I think we should inv her in team arenas now that rank points are so high and carry her to 20s. 20s should be a goal.

Yes, we have tried it internally. I was not part of that prototyping, sorry I left that out.

The hint was the Ready Up schedule, which should tell you a lot if you pay close attention to it.

With the weekly RU schedule going on from next week til April 4th, which they mentioned will include a lot of talk about what’s going to be happening come feature build, it’s not a hard thing to conclude that the feature build will likely launch April 8th (Tuesday). I’d say there’s a small chance it’s going to be April 15th, but with Allie’s comment in the other topic this seems pretty much confirmed for me. Yay!

What is the purpose of Ready ups?

Good question. I’ll take this one! Before I was hired at ArenaNet I ran show called “Guild Wars 2 Guru’s State of the Game”. Aside from the forums, it was one of the main bridges we had with the developers behind PvP and balance. Unfortunately for the show, last summer I was hired on at ArenaNet and had to shut it down.

I know we can’t always talk about extensively about what’s in development, but ideally we’d like for Ready Up to fill that gap, even if we’re just goofing around on stream a bit, playing some casual games. Ready Up happens twice as often as State of the Game did, and we won’t always have things to preview. That said, when we are finally ready to show something off, Ready Up is going to be the place you’re going to check it out.

The topics for each show are posted prior to each episode – allowing you to choose if the show is worth your time or not. They’re not mandatory. Even if we’re not talking about balance or features, etc, I’d still love to have everyone come hang out for an hour every two weeks. If you’re not interested in watching scrims, or whatever else we happen to be doing, then we’ll see you at the patch previews.

Edit: If you have suggestions for segments or topics for the show, outside of “tell us all the things” feel free to post them. I don’t spend as much time working on the show as I did when I was on the PvP team, but I’m all about improving where we can, and I know Allie feels the same way.

I have two accounts and the one on EU crashes constantly, it also has unplayable lag. I am playing from NA but trying to play with my EU friends. My NA account works fine.

OMG, I just had the worst experience. Queue times was taking a bit long then got distracted on the interwebs. Turned out I got in a Team Queue against Grouch, Kensuda and a few others. And it was my fault our team never stood a chance, I only joined a few minutes in. Makes me feel so guilty. :( So yeah, the #1 option would be REALLY nice. I think Smite has something like that.

I completely agree that these 5 relatively small (although possibly technically difficult to implement) improvements would vastly increase the experience for GW2 pvp. For me, #1, #4, and #5 are the most crucial.

Hi there! A few things to do:

2. Increase map awareness and rotations, this cannot be mentioned enough.
3. Wait for the rating to stabilize. Note that I think I noticed your rating only resets every hour. So, if you play like four games, they may all still be at a rating too high for you, thus having all these crazy match ups. Things should stabilize after a number of games. But yeah, this is definitely something that should be changed. Either starting rating should be lower or there should be some rank 1-10 newbie arena for newbies only.
