…and would make winning at the end of the week mean something.
They’d need to balance populations properly for that to be viable. Plus, people would overstack particular servers/links for easy wins and rewards.
As the Wiki says, it’s been removed from the game. If you’re after a Mistforged Hero’s Weapon they can be bought from the Skirmish Supervisor in any WvW (or EotM) spawn for a combination of Skirmish Claim Tickets and Memories of Battle, provided you have the relevant Hero’s Weapon skin unlocked. Hero’s Weapons are obtained via reward track.
Find a zerg, close your eyes and pretend you’re doing a Dragon’s Stand meta.
Ghost thief pre-nerf, or the D/D condi-evade thief which seems to be popular nowadays?
Just curious. For me I actually sort of preferred ghost thief.
You ran across a Warrior, Revenant or Druid. Probably one of the first two. With these, an icon will appear below their health bar when they have the respective skills active. With druid it’s like a transparent line/shield thing they cast with staff.
They don’t play WvW. If they do play WvW then they’re bad at their own game and are balancing with that in mind. Either that or they think catering to braindead EZ mode morons makes the most business sense and, sadly, it probably does.
Your attitude of not caring about builds and just blaming the game is probably why this “happens way too often.”
Have a look on YouTube for some shatter mesmer videos to see what they do/how to counter it. While you’re at it, have a look for some guardian/DH videos to see how to fight such classes.
And/or have a look on metabattle (insert “boo, Metabattle sucks” comments here) for a DH roaming build. If PvE is your cup of tea then I’ll assume you’re mostly zerker, which is what a lot of Dragonhunter roamers run anyway.
You could also stop by the relevant class subforums to ask for tips there.
Even with that, you’ll still get rekt sometimes, even after you think you’ve improved – and you will improve. It happens to us all. It’s frustrating when it does happen, but that’s life. Learn from it, respawn, move on.
Alternatively, if you sincerely “don’t care about builds” and just want your dailies, then continue doing what you’re doing. But you can’t really complain if you keep getting destroyed.
“PvP only” applies to sPvP, not WvW. They did make a WvW-specific change to Epidemic, but that’s the only one, as far as I know.
It would be nice to know one way or the other about the blast finisher change on Skull Grinder though.
The dolly pretty much sprints back to the camp if you don’t own SM, so its a lot faster than it continuing its slow walk on to SM.
Ez wins for 500 gems. Easy moneymaker.
If you expect to be commanding an organised zerg and fighting other zergs, the best way to start off is definitely AH Guardian.
Not only because it’s a good tanky melee class with good sustain, but the majority of your melee players will also be on Guardian. If you are too, you know what their cooldowns are, how often they can use stability etc, and you know from your own cooldowns when you can push, when you need to back off, regroup and so on.
As you become more experienced, or have more experienced people around you, you could probably get away with commanding on other classes, but there’s a reason 90% of commanders lead on Guardian.
I don’t play it myself anymore, but I imagine its something to do when “normal” WvW is quiet, or your matchup is dead. Or its there as an alternative for people who want a more chill environment where they can run around giving zero kittens with (presumably) less salt.
Either way, people seem to still play it and enjoy it so I don’t see the need to remove it.
How to make the desert border more unbearble? Perma-contested waypoints.
Man I hope this is fixed soon.
Assuming you’re running Valor, Honor, Virtues on normal guard, swap Honor for Dragonhunter 3-3-1. Keep the same gear, utilities etc.
You’ll lose a bit of sustain and/or have some longer cooldowns, depending on what you run in Honor, but your virtues will be more fun.
As I recall, the change to keep tagging – where you can now contest a keep by hitting the guards – happened because Hardened Gates made gates immune to PvD.
Now that’s no longer the case, would it be possible to change it back so you have to hit the gate to contest?
Other than that, a new wvw event where seige disablers work every night of the week except reset night would be interesting.
Couldn’t they make it so that for the duration of the disabled effect, the siege would also be afflicted with various conditions, such as 10-20 stacks of bleed or burning? I really think we need more conditions flying around.
Only if you’re allowed to Epi off siege again
Thanks for the response, McKenna.

Wiki page hasn’t updated yet, apparently posting them in the forums is too much effort – anyone know what they are?
TY in advance.
It’s also really embarrassing when you miss the portal.
You also have a dodge key, 2 immunities to direct damage, access to resistance, decent toughness and HP even when full zerk, and plenty of regen.
And, as others have pointed out, shield also gives you a lowish-cooldown stun and a reflect as well as block, not to mention free might for every attack you do block (spoiler: some attacks are still blockable).
If you’re struggling, you’re getting countered or outplayed.
Can you add your gear and stats to the build? You need to select “WvW mode” on the top right of the build editor to do so.
Failing that, is your gear power-based or condition damage-based? Wells are best suited to a power build, whereas your weapons and the Curses line are more befitting condi gear.
My alt is rank 20ish, I’ve had two spoons drop. As others have said, they do seem to drop more readily from Camp Supervisors and Tower Lords.
Try joining with an open tag if there is one, more chance of getting into towers.
I assume commanders are prepared for things like that.
Good ones are. Bad ones make threads like these.
This.
The people. The relative lack of map/teamchat garbage compared to other servers.
Necro is useful, fun, fairly easy once you get the hang of positioning, and you can still push with melee sometimes using Reaper Shroud. It’s also the second-best class for tagging stuff after Guardian.
My main issue is it defaults red which is the bottom server of the match up, additionally red gets top of ebg which I also consider not fair. To be dished out an upside down map ebg and easy cap west towers and also have easy cap huge zone DBL is rough….wish it was rotated so lowest server wouldn’t suffer so much per match up. All opinion though.
This. Once you get stuck with the Red BL for a couple of weeks it becomes an almost inescapable cycle.
I wonder how many people would’ve voted how they did in the big poll if they expected to get the desert map 7 weeks out of 8…
They change on the last Friday of every even-numbered month, so in this case yes, the 30th.
Hey, any chance of implementing an option to enable and disable the war score floaters?
It isn’t so much of an issue when flipping a tower, but when you’re in a fight they pop up all over the place, and considering we already know PPK is a thing it’s not exactly imparting crucial information.
Thanks.
If you can speak Spanish, try Baruch Bay. They have tons of people online from around 10pm UK time (3-5pm NA depending on where you are) until I have no idea when.
The downside is most enemies will be asleep so you’ll largely be fighting doors and a few roamers.
Generally if someone isn’t interested in fighting open-field I’ll leave them to it. If they’re on a ruin or something inconsequential I’ll leave them to it, or maybe poke them to see if they want to fight. Regardless of rank.
If I’m on home BL and they’re in a camp, then they’re fair game. If they attack first, they’re fair game. Regardless of rank. Sometimes, for whatever reason, I might let them get up; but I don’t feel guilty about stomping someone in such circumstances, low rank or otherwise.
WvW is essentialy Server v Server (v Server) so as others have said, if you want to play together in WvW one of you is going to have to pay a fee in gems to transfer. Depending on the server it could cost anything from 500 to 1800 gems, sadly.
Have a look in the login screen which server each of you is on, and some people in this subforum might be able to offer advice as to which of you is better off moving.
Give it a try separately first though, if you absolutely despise it it’ll save you a transfer fee
Two guardians and a revenant per party, then necros and eles should get priority for the other 2 spots. If there’s spaces, mesmers and warriors. Medium classes are good at single target focus, so put them in parties together.
It depends what you have though. What people have said is the ideal, but if you’re organising a pug squad you’re likely to end up with more rangers than you have guardians and revs combined… :P
For necro, if you plan on running with the zerg try zerker and see how you do. Generally Marauder > Berserker these days but provided you position yourself well you should be ok. If you feel a bit too glassy try swapping in a bit of Valkyrie until you feel comfortable. You’re there to do damage though, so you want to be specced as offensively as you can be while surviving.
Whether you go base Necro or Reaper is up to you, though Reaper Shroud does offer access to stability and some mobility, so that’s better for getting out of tight spots.
I’ve only ever played backline ele, and even then not much (so I stand to be corrected), but the same principle applies. You want to be as offensive as you feel comfortable with, so zerker with as much soldier as you feel you need mixed in is the way to go.
Not a bad idea. If it were implemented as a passive upgrade it’d replace Presence of the Keep (or those god-awful Autoturrets) rather than Emergency Waypoint.
As meaningless as PPT is, the score at the end of this week will demonstrate how ill-thought out this linking was.
half gandara are all condition kitten.
All servers are half condition kitten.
Sure. While you’re at it, make Teleport-to-Friend useable in WvW, so you don’t even need to be a mesmer to port your squad into a keep.
If you mean the achievements “Friend of the Frogs”, “Honorary Ogre”, “Honorary Rata Novan” and “SCAR Supporter”, each outpost has an event chain that begins immediately after the Chak Gerent meta event finishes.
The list of the events required for the Friend of the Frogs achievement at Teku Nuhoch can be found here: https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Outpost:_Teku_Nuhoch and links for the other three outposts can be found at the bottom of the page.
If, however, you mean the “Nuhoch/Ogre/Rata Novus/SCAR Lane Defender” achievements, then you need to kill the Gerent itself three times for each lane to get the respective achievement.
Hope this helps.
A developer on reddit, when asked about the possibility of refunding laurels for WvW infusions: “No plans for that. Those infusions are still functional, even if they’re not meta, and refunding laurels is tricky because those can convert to gold.”
So… screw us, I guess.
Come on people…its one infusion per character you have…
In full ascended gear its 1 out of 14.Put them in storage until you need them for a new set of ascended trinkets/armor/weapons. Ya know, along side all your other not-so-precious ascended trinkets you have filling a tab, but at least these will stack.
Now past the crying, is it just the utility infusions that can go on them that we currently have? Or is there new things I might find interesting?
Thinking the most obvious current utility is magic find or karma for wvw.
Let’s say someone has one of each class, and an ascended amulet per character. That’s 45 laurels worth of infusions now rendered worthless. It takes 28 days of logins to obtain that amount of laurels, assuming one takes the plentiful laurels on day 28.
It’s not unreasonable for people to be upset that those laurels have basically gone down the toilet.
As others have said, surely it wouldn’t be asking too much to allow us to sell those infusions back to the vendors at sale price? Mailing you your now-useless infusion isn’t much of a refund…
Soooo… I had WvW infusions in all my amulets (10+, CBA logging all my charas to check, and getting bombarded with now-useless infusions in the mail). Is that at least 50 laurels and 1250 badges down the pan, with my only compensation some “refunded” (lol) stuff to either destroy or let idle in my bank?
Is there nobody whose job it is to think about this stuff? Or d’you just not care?
BB aren’t so bad. Sure, the nightcapping is frustrating, but that’s more than made up for in amusement at how awful they are.
In any case, they’re EU players, so Anet couldn’t really justify shifting them all to NA (bear in mind it’d affect their PvE/PvP players also).
Desolation is the strongest server in EU right now, you should have little trouble finding activity regardless of the time you play. Bear in mind if you play during EU prime you’ll likely encounter a fair number of blobs, but there should also be plenty of roaming action too.
As for a guild, try asking in mapchat in a WvW map, or joining the community guild and server forum and getting to know people and guilds there.
There’s a couple of guides on YouTube aswell, including tricks for getting the jump right.
Might as well lead the raid in Moa tonic.
No thanks. Using this logic, if your EWP is on cooldown it’s impossible to get into a structure to defend it. Tactivator trolling is bad enough as it is.
After the crafting stations were closed cybilsong went on and on about how there were only queues on eb. Welp, theres a queue on home bl…now what.
I’m still not entirely sure what point you’re making. GBL has had a queue nearly every reset for weeks, and often on other nights too.
As someone who can hardly play EB due to lag issues, I wholeheartedly support this incentive to drive every WvW player onto the borders.
Within the chest above your minimap, you should get 2 random weapon/armour pieces and a brown chest. Within that is a tome of knowledge, and your proofs. As others have said, it’ll be a rank thing.
