AFL – Away From Life. // I admit to being a bad person.
Character specific key binds…yesterday if possible. Thank you.
(edited by Kain Nosgoth.4218)
You’d lose your Sclerite Karka Shell appearance, though, obviously. And I’m not sure if Ascending / upgrading the SKS makes it soulbound.
According to wiki (which has been wrong on occasion, but rarely) if you have your Sclerite Karka Shell and upgrade it in the forge to ascended it just gets a + to stats and nothing else…and it REMAINS ACCOUN BOUND even after equiping it.
Using that account bound Ascended Karka Shell with the Shattered Wings will PROBABLY result in wings that are account bound and have 1 defensive infusion slot, 55 healing powers 36 toughness and 36 condition damage…best deal around…(which I’m probably going to try doing as soon I get 20g to upgrade my shell).
This obviously leads to loosing the Karka Shell skin.
WARNING: Whatever you do, do not use the wings on the Karka Shell AND upgrade it AFTER because if it still works you end up with the Ascended Karka Shell skin again and loose the wings skin forever.
This works with the Toy Backpack Skin (read above) but my problem and new question is: Can I use a fine transmutation stone with my NOW SOULBOUND Shattered Wings and that Toy Backpack Skin (or Karka Shell) and still get the same account bound result?
Edit for adding:
YES IT DOES. If you have any account bound back item (and only account bound without it also being soulbound on equip) and you use a transmutation stone with any other skin but keep the stats (the part with the account bound stat) the whole resulting thing stays account bound.
(edited by Kain Nosgoth.4218)
Any way to make the Shattered Dragon Wings account bound? Like they should have been made…like the Lost Shores karka shell back item?
Transmuting it with the Sclerite Karka Shell might just result in account bound wings that you can move around. Did anyone try that? Stones say it will end up soulbound but there are other exceptions.
Yes I know you can move them around using transmutation but wasting 1 exotic and 1g and 80 gems and 1 back cover (3g) every time just doesn’t cut it.
EDIT:
If you want account bound wings use them on any account bound item or if you already used them you can still use a Fine Transmutation Stone with account bound items like the level 2 Toy Bag, Sclerite Karka Shell, Sclerite Karka Shell (ascended), Fervid Censer etc. (account bound items that soulbind on equip DON’T WORK). Make sure to choose the stats of the account bound item. You obviously loose the skin of the original account bound item forever.

I just see more justification of WHY Dusk is 600-670g (yes we get it it’s close to the average of making it in the forge, maybe, yes it’s 45% of the total legendary cost, yes there was inflation).
What I don’t see is proof that it should stay this way AND why some people can get it in a matter of minutes (and more importantly ALREADY GOT IT in ways other ppl can no longer get it at this point) while others have to grind CoF for 162h. And to make it worse, in some cases, we passed on those easy ways based on comments made by ANet.
(edited by Kain Nosgoth.4218)
My “Pumpkin Carver” achievement has zero progression since January patch.
I still have the title. I’m not the only one with this problem.
No I didn’t read any posts in this thread so I don’t know if there was anything about this above.
“These are the current prices, don’t like it? don’t buy it!”
NO, get it through your head we were deceived on how much it will take to finish one when we decided to go for it. Personally I feel someone came and burned my 70% completed tower of cards and now you come and tell me that “it’s ok you still have the ashes and the other 30% that didn’t catch fire so work harder, recycle them and make new paper, print a new set of cards and start again but this time you need to do it double the size but it’s ok because it can be done, it’s ok because I can do it” – thing is that’s not the deciding factor (or it shouldn’t be).
Vol is in Cursed Shore right now. Vol is always in Cursed Shore. I don’t think he did any content for fun in weeks. Yes he has 1300h played and 3 legendaries (and at least one he got the precursor for 20% of current price) and he did work for all 3 since he is grinding C.S. like there is no tomorrow. Doesn’t mean the system is fine or this is how precursors should be obtained or that there should be a huge discrepancy between ppl who got it by pure luck or karka drop (that wasn’t the same type of luck) or in the aftermath on the prices or that we should wait a few more months (like he said he is despite having the money for more).
(edited by Kain Nosgoth.4218)
They might not be overpriced but they are increasing in “time invested” requirement (and that already varies wildly based on luck) and that just shouldn’t happen.
This doesn’t include people investing long term in rare items on TP which is fine and should lower the time investment considerably but shouldn’t be a baseline when deciding on how long the average one should be.
Did not test it myself but I would guess something between one and three days. Which would kick everyone who got his precursor by hard farming in the gut and devalue the precursor by a lot. There would be even bots for this.
What about my gut? Or the gut of the guy that used up 750g and got nothing? And to what? Protect the VERY FEW* that CHOSE WILLINGLY to farm 600g for Dusk when they knew they Anet is working on SH and said they knew we feel precursors are becoming an unreachable goal?
Go to any random number generator online and ASSUME Dusk/Dawn are nr 1 and 2 out of 24 (exotics that can drop from MF) and that Anet didn’t lower the chances. Now generate numbers for a 2h and make an average. Sure it happens in 2-3 attempts sometimes, and maybe the average is 45 (which would explain why Dusk is 650g in TP atm) but how is it ok that some ppl get it in 2 and others have to go up to 80 (for 10g/try).
Someone is getting kicked in the guy anyway (if we choose to ignore how the ppl that farmed 600g will have had their Twilight for months when we get SH finished), how about we make sure it’s the few (or fewER anyway) guys that chose to do something willingly and knowingly instead of everyone else who started with the gifts thinking Anet meant it when they said they are “looking at it”, “working on it” or that didn’t think it will rise to 600g etc.
Besides finishing personal story and leveling to 80 and geting 100% world (added up) takes under 80h. So add this on top of 50 more hours (<-opinion, anything over 100h is a slap to the face for everyone that was saving up gold for Dusk before it jumped to 650g) of work for the other parts of SH it’s enough for 1/4 legendary.
(edited by Kain Nosgoth.4218)
It’s different people.
That’s still not the point. (Well, ok, for this thread it is, unless those different ppl are the same over a longer time period and are currently flipping/buying out Sparks on a regular basis for whatever reason.)
Since this topic is about how they are fair I’ll stick to that.
Prices for exotics that go in the forge to make precursors have gone up while ways of making gold have not so yes perhaps it does take an average of 500g to make a Dusk. This does not make it fair even if the price MIGHT be right.
Seeing how there are a large number of ppl that got it for free OR in the 1st try OR Dawn and Colossus in 2 consecutive days from chests in TA and CoF or for 50g back then from Orr nonDR farming OR karka event that we were promised we won’t get more of AND more importantly because (ignoring all that) it already is 2-3 times harder than it was before (and they already miss-lead people twice now to think it’s a good idea to start with the gifts and in the meanwhile precursors became even worse).
About that SH. Anything other than a maximum 100h of /played without any time limit (if you play 10h /day you can get it done in max 10 days) is a slap in the face to everyone that didn’t get lucky or bugged godskull or opened 3 chests in Karka thing.
If they’re going to make legendaries easier to get (they’ve mentioned they’ll soon be account bound instead of soul bound) I see no reason they can’t do the same for dyes.
And yea, I feel a grind is warranted in this game for skin swaps… not gear. that’s why I don’t mind the requirements for legendaries too much and would sooner consider selling one before actually getting one.
Legendaries are excessive, but the precursor isn’t the problem. It’s everything else on top of it.
I didn’t notice any “soon” when they said legendaries will be account bound (but that would be good). Yes account bound dyes would also be great (even if it doesn’t compare). Legendaries will soon no longer be just skins but prema top tier weapons (and account bound at some point even if not “soon”).
The precursor is the problem. You got the karma that is a semi-time limit cuz of daily (unless you grind for it for hours every day looking for events), you got the gold sink (that if you want you can grind for faster), you can see progress towards it etc. Precursors are a gamble with variable amount of time that are too easy for some and impossible for others (while prices keep rising) with no visible progress AND IT’S on top of the other stuff that is also a grind or huge time sink if you don’t buy things.
It may be ridiculous to you, but there are people out there willing to pay more than you. There is no reason why a seller should sell to you when someone is paying 200g more.
It may be ridiculous to you but something that everyone should have access to and not at an increasingly difficult rate (when they might have been already half done/decided to do it believing it will take a certain effort) SHOULD NOT be “controlled” (decide the price of) to this extent by the top wealth players (nvm the manipulation and gold sellers, I just mean that 5% wealthy ones out of which 4% are probably playing the TP).
(edited by Kain Nosgoth.4218)
No, actually just because 9 Dusk got sold in 24h doesn’t prove anything. We already knew some ppl can afford it and are willing to pay that much. We still don’t know if the ppl that did buy them used them, if they were different people, if they are not gold sellers that are buying them at 600g because they make more $ from mailing dusks to “gold” buyers than actual gold which they have hundreds of thousands. We don’t know if those people could afford them because they all played the TP or spent 8h a day grinding CoF for 2 weeks with a very specific class.
+ It wasn’t even about that, it was about how some people can (and did) get them instantly and for free while other need to put in a increased (and still increasing) amount of work for the same result or risk loosing everything or wait a few more months just because.
The precursor market is still screwed.
This is my “plan”
1. level each profession, unlocking all skills
2. fit each toon with exotic
3. fit each toon with 20 slot boxes
4. fill up fines/craftables bank
5. do achievements
6. go for legendary weapon
7. twiddle thumbs
^ That.
1. 2 classes left to go
2. 4 left
3. CBA, I have a 1 man guild with 2 bank tabs.
4. already did, sold them for other stuff
5. 4300 pts atm (don’t care about salvaging my way to 10k, in fact i think repeatable, daily included should give zero pts or a different type actually).
6. Kitten their refusal to fix precursors before SH (it can be done and easy) – need only Dusk atm. Also not stopping at 1 weapon, going for about 13 to 16 out of the 20.
7. No thumb twiddling, ever, got to also get 100% on all 8 alts (4 left), also new content until I’m done.
It’s a different kind of hardcore that doesn’t involve depending on 9 other ppl (raids) and getting world 1st on some random HC raid boss, it’s fine.
Oh trust me I understand that. I have already planned out my next 150 days of daily laurels. I shall have the wolf cub and second place kitty. As much as I loath PvP in all its forms, I have even considered forcing myself into the WvWvW and try to complete my first ever monthly. That extra 10 (I think is the number you get for the monthly) laurels would speed up the process a little.
You get no laurels for WvW monthly. OR DO YOU? Colin 100% told ME (direct reply with quote) they you get no laurels for PvP stuff (he might have said daily but it was implied that it was about all pvp activity).
The usual response of someone unable to comprehend a simple sentence that states: I don’t want to play the market, never did, nor will, nor do I want to see others do it!
Please do us all a favor and plague some other forum with your brainless comments.
1) They can play the market all the want, but when they buy out all 9 listed items and increase the price by 30% its a different thing.
2) A guy playing the market (buy 10 halloween skins and sell in3 months for 4000% profit) can and should afford a legendary at the current prices INSTANTLY and you can even say he “earned” it.
3) Leaving current prices as they are and thinking they are ok based on the fact that the guy at 2) can do it makes you a kitten because prices should not be set by the exceptions.
4) Seeing how some people can get or got theirs for free and others have to grind (or play “casually” 6h+ a day for 5 months) the system isn’t working as it should (it might be working as intended since they clearly don’t want to fix it sooner and how they will probably add some fixed minimum time required to complete SH no matter how many h/day you will want to invest in it).
This post isn’t directly targeted at anyone, the quote is there to point out an opinion on market playing.
(edited by Kain Nosgoth.4218)
Yes Colin said exactly that ^. On a semi-separate note a lot of dev posts vanished completely from forums (that one included unless I failed at finding it again).
God I hope it doesn’t end. I still do world dragons and large chest events when I can with the hope I eventually get a precursor for the sole purpose of selling it. considering the 3% stat increase a legendary has over a standard exotic I fail to see the point in even bother with it. But so long as people are out there willing to spend 300-500g on the item I hope I get one as 500g in dyes and I may just get the color I’ve been looking for in triplicate so all my alts can have it (please, for all that is holy, make dyes account wide!)
It will soon be more than 3%, most ppl that started it a while back didn’t start it for the stats anyway. You just said you want everyone to suffer and keep having to work more for something others got for free (sometimes in triplicate – karka thing) so you can have 0.1% chance to get 500g AND THEN YOU ASK THEM TO MAKE DYES EASIER TO GET (cost less for more use out of them). NO more comment.
I was right it took 1h for some guy to come draw extensive parallels to RL supply and demand ignoring how this is a game, a game where they also they admitted there is market manipulation on top a system that was/is broken for the supply (which is also way more limited than other things in RL) AND it’s one of the same 5 guys that post everywhere about this.
1) Twilight
2) Need only Dusk for 7+ weeks now
3) At 1445h played (with a 3 week of no log in period) currently at 137g (not all of it is liquid cash) with only 100g lost in MF until now.
I have no guild, I didn’t get 1 g free from anyone, I’ve had under 10 exotics drop EVER (in 1445h) and I’ve been depressed ever since they promised not to do any similar events to the Karka thing…moved to anger when they said SH is in 3 months+ and I’m guessing it’s gonna take 1 more month+ to finish). Some of the money involved comes for extremely boring item flipping (which I would love to stop doing so I don’t mess with ppls orders on TP and because it’s boring).
P.S the precursor comes to those who least expect it – Idlix Delacroix
P.S. the precursor should ALSO freaking come for ppl that are working for it and with a 100% chance or a top gold limit of 350g (see the mystic forge token idea here https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/game/gw2/Is-this-a-fair-fix-for-precursors/first#post1369862 but with it being calculated to not cost over 350g for 90% of the people doing it).
(edited by Kain Nosgoth.4218)
Part of my adventuring for 5 more months just for 1 item out of ~18 (the smaller gifts that make the 3 gifts) while others got it for free/with bugs/handed-out etc/with extreme luck/because they bet against the system working properly and bought it early?
Why do I we have to feel bad for 5 more months (or do the boring grind, which I am not) and then probably start from scratch with SH just because they refuse to fix this somehow until then? I’m already waiting for 2 months with the 3 gifts to finish Twilight and start playing my lvl 80 warrior with zero world completion (like I planed because grinding/getting 250g-300g for Dusk was reasonable) – and this with 6h+ /day played.
I’m giving it 4 h max until one of those same 5 guys that keep telling us it’s fine and we should shut up posts in here.
It’s not that you can’t reach it. It’s that: it takes ages of doing things you don’t like or millenia of things you like while some people get in in 1 try OR in 1 random mob in fractals OR for 20% of the price (karka) OR exploit AND that it’s becoming harder over time while we keep getting more bad news about how “there won’t be more events like Karka for a while” (so no more chances while some ppl got 2 in the same chest and went to overflows and got 1 more and then got a bag in mail 1 week later) and the scavenger hunt is 3 months off at least (with who knows how much work from scratch that takes who knows how long and that you probably can’t speed up with the gold you have until then). AND ALL THIS when we could have an easy fix until then (and even after they finish the SH).
Long term goals should have the same “effort” requirement for everyone all the time, the time and the “long” varying BY A LOT if the person is investing in TP over long periods of time or playing 8h/day (and the occasional, “oh look 0.5% drop from a monster I just saved myself X amount of time”). No, we are not currently in that situation, we might be after SH (but that can be messed up if they somehow make it un-finishable faster than X days).
This is coming from a guy with an average of 9.6h/day since launch (without taking out the AFK time, but that isn’t over 10%).
(edited by Kain Nosgoth.4218)
These guys have a problem with Ferrari’s in RL.
Ferrari example doesn’t fit at all in GW2 at all since sports cars have never been nor will they ever be available for some people for a 35th of a price because they got lucky and bought theirs rly fast when they fist came out OR stole them (godskull thing) and got away with it OR they dropped 75% in price at one point cuz the manufacturers got bored of making profit OR they just found the keys on the sidewalk AND Ferrari’s aren’t 1.5M $ now when they 1st came out at 250k $.
“Hence if you make an assumption that those 3 The Chosen listed on the TP are the only The Chosen available, that is just that. An assumption that may not be true.”
It is for Dusk. 610g 650g same crap.
This post use to be MUUUUUCH worse before I noticed Ursan has over 4k achievement pts and is in a dungeon at 6 am which rendered most of the old post almost certainly wrong. My bad.
(edited by Kain Nosgoth.4218)
I say I want a DUSK handed over to me for “nothing” because after 1450h AND farming for all the other stuff already in a not so pleasant way AND all this talk of “adjusting rewards system” while we actually got a piece of crap RNG box for 5 laurels AND all the DR that is affecting us more than the bots is starting to eclipse all the fun I had in 1000h out of those 1450 (and not because it’s hard or boring or requires waiting for a few more months, but because it keeps getting harder while the majority that already has theirs got it at a fraction of the effort and the SH in 4 months isn’t good enough).
I actually couldn’t care less if they removed all exotic and rare drops from EVERYWHERE as long as there were other ways to work your way towards what you want out of any/every item currently in the game with equal opportunity (from the different activities available) and no jumping thresholds set by the market for any item. Base all loot on XP (except dungeon armor which is fine) or even played time OR make every single thing you do in game give you RED souls and have EVERY item in game in 1 vendor at a fixed price (yes I’m ripping off Devil May Cry systems for a MMO).
and don’t tell me legendary isn’t for everyone or I shouldn’t have gone for it or I should quit if I don’t like it, it’s not what it was when I started, it has/is still going in the opposite direction of what we were promised months ago and it was never any good to begin with
(edited by Kain Nosgoth.4218)
Yea because having a few more ppl willing to farm 650g , 1,2 M karma etc because they got their precursor in 2 weeks of doing SH is going to to FEEL SOOOOO BAD I’m going squirm in my grave (where I’m going to end up from all the hate that something like this can happen, the majority of the ppl with Bifrost, Twilight, Sunrise, Bolt got their precursors from karka event, for 25% of current price due to karka event, from bugs, add some extra free karma and money from non-DR orr for some of those as well, some from meta-TP-game-usually-at-the-expense-of-others…yea good for them it’s not them I’m hating, it’s the “1% every time you spend 8g in MF or work 5 time as hard or wait 4 more months” thing that the same 4-6 support on forums in all threads).
Screw the SH, add something like the clock tower (but longer and more of it and also with parts involving fights) that 5-7% of ppl can complete (but with any class). For unlimited account bound precursors.
Yes I complain that what most of us consider an end game goal (which we started working towards thinking it reasonable, thought reinforced by multiple “we are watching the situation” type of comments) becomes progressively (up to 35 times in some cases) harder and longer to obtain and is becoming less and less fun. Like grinding 1k gold wasn’t bad enough, now we need to grind 1500g because TP players who like that sort of thing are willing to pay 700g for Dusk. Ferraris are not going up in price up to 1,5 Million $, and again, this is not RL so GTHO with your Ferrai examples. And YES I would deny them their profit, what happened to “in this game we don’t want players making money for nothing”, I guess this doesn’t apply to gambling which Anet seems to love since that is their definition of “a new reward system” (laurles) besides the 1% increase in power you get from an ascended ring that you need to wait a month for. But what I would do is irrelevant, keeping the MF way for getting a precursors would still be ~300g for 4 rares for the lucky ppl even after prices will drop.
You also seem to forget Anet agrees, mostly, since we are getting SH (well depending on what that is and how long it takes).
(edited by Kain Nosgoth.4218)
Precursors are not a problem. Legendary is supposed to take some time to get. Unless you a genius with the TP, like me it should take some time.
Not to mention on my off day I made over 30 gold just from running fractals, so 10 gold a day aint’ kitten.
600/10=60 days
60 days = 2 months not that big a deal to get a precursor. I mean kitten, what do you want ANET to just give it to you? What fun is that? The whole point is to reach the goal and have fun.
Go away, srlsy. Farming fractals isn’t for everyone. Other ppl got their precursors in 25h or for free (karka) or ultra luck out from a wolf in wvw or in forge etc. and now we should work for 500h doing something we don’t like to grind for 600g? Like the other 3 gifts are free and making precursors 300g (or a fixed amount of dungeon tokens, until the SH is also added) would make it a walk in the park.
Keep in mind this is coming form a guy with 1415h played (since launch minus 3 weeks with no log in).
“So would you guys be happy if they introduced a way to get a precursor via, say, a solo combat challenge that is so hard only 5% of people attempting it have even a chance of ever winning it?”
If they added that right now (read as 2 weeks) and not remove the other ways or cancel SH I would instantly stop any and all QQ.
(edited by Kain Nosgoth.4218)
A priority over…
Bug fixes?
Class balances?
New content?No thank you.
YES a priority over exactly that.
-not everyone is into pvp (and some of us play mesmers because they are fun not to complain about 40% of their skills being bugged in PvE)
-the new content is worked on by different teams and or is already in the QA part
-fixing precursors even before SH is added is a simple as adding a few MF and crafting recipes and a few world drops
-not everyone gives a kitten about story either. Any new content short of an expansion will be finished very quickly while the growing disappointment that you can’t finish your shiny and/or have to work for it 35 times longer that most of the people that already have theirs (or 4+ in some cases) persists for some of the dedicated players
Did I mention how it was a easy fix without waiting for the SH. Or how the Flame and Frost ark seems to be planed out over MONTHS so they are clearly in no hurry to drown us in content.
Actually atm you run the risk of profession specific gear boxes for laurels containing 0.3% precursors and in 2 days hundreds of thousands will buy some of those boxes.
If in a few days it’s proven there are no precursors in that or orrian jewlery boxes then it’s a free of risk thing until Feb path (unless they choose to ninja patch in more precursors drop spots like they promised but not in a major patch, just like that in 8 days form now).
No, NOOOOO.
If you insist in adding gambles to all all portions of the game (which you should stop doing) (see Orrian Jewlery boxes) at least don’t give us “all we can do is speculate” and add THE EXACT 0.0x% for every item and a list of what it can contain (specially if it has a chance of fixing the precursor fiasco).
I also wonder if/what will be added later to laurels so everyone that gambles with fail-boxes can feel bad about.
Lol, it’s so funny trying to hear the folks that got their precursor on the first 100g of pitching or for 20g around launch try to defend precursor prices. It’s really really funny.
Earning 1g a dungeon run multiple times per day for months, you expect prices to remain at 20g? How out of touch can you be?
20g at launch = 100% world = 50h
20g at launch = 20h or less of non DR Orr farm
20g at launch = 4 friends and 5h
Karka luck-out=45 mins of 1 event
Godskull exploit = under 50g (and you can get multiple ones)
Luck-out in forge = 1st to 20th try with rare= 35g
750g today (at your 1g /dungeon – that you might not like doing) = 750 hours
How out of touch can you be thinking this is how the system should work (in case that’s what you mean, not very sure)?
No no, PERSECUTORS ja? It’s persecuting everyone playing the “wrong” way (aka the way where you don’t make max g/hour).
100 laruels? Kitten that! ANY hard enforced time limit on legendaries is utter crap. It would mean 100 days while others have millions of karma stacked from pre nerfs and/or thousands of gold from godskull and/or TP playing (and also the ppl that are in the same situation but without the exploits/pre-nerfs).
We don’t need to punish those ppl with making them wait 100 days for the legendary they want and can already afford and we most definitely don’t need to punish everyone else that already has the other gifts ready OR that wants to buy ascended gear with laurels.
There is no sarcasm in this post, read this one literally, srsly.
(edited by Kain Nosgoth.4218)
I meant you bought one of the precursors for 145g (one that is now over 480g). And you had money for it at the time (karka event which we won’t be getting anymore) because TP or because you didn’t start with getting the gifts (like some of us did thinking they will do something about precursor when they said it was getting too high the 1st time). The reason why you had the money doesn’t matter anyway (since 140g was obtainable even without playing TP), it matters even if we do have that kind of money we were promised we won’t get any more occasions like that one for 150-200g precursors free of risk of loosing everything for nothing (see 750g in rares, or 250g in exotics with unknown % and the increase that I still think only worked for 4 weapon type MF recipes).
Judging from your general attitude towards Orr farming I’m going to also guess you had a over 1,5M karma from before nerf and I wonder how many alts you have (2?).
Skill is out of the question for legendaries atm so since it’s a dedication thing how come ppl with 1000h have 2 and 3/4 legendaries from TP/fractal grind and ppl with 1500h and 8 alts and dungeons and dragons and 100% world on 5 of those 8 alts have 10x less stuff. I don’t even want Godskull ppl to get their stuff rolledback (not even the guys with 5000g from getting 10 Dusk), I want to have a way to work for 2-4 weeks doing dungeons and events and know I will 100% afford or get a precursor and I would love to not wait until May to finish the working part.
Oh yea, I’d like to get the legendary I want not the one I can afford in the currently kittened market. So that “getting Flameseeker prophecies” doesn’t apply to everyone. (After Dusk it’s on to Frostfang and Bifrost and Sunrise and maybe then FS.P. for me).
“The player is the most important thing in the game.” Unless god forbid he wants shiny items for doing the activities he likes in the game instead of meta-trading-economics or 1 in 10000 luck, otherwise everything is ok because a few are willing to do that.
(edited by Kain Nosgoth.4218)
Just don’t buy it at that price. If nobody is willing to purchase, it won’t go up. What’s wrong with you people? Have some patience.
Yes cuz after grinding and flipping my fingers off instead of playing the game for over 700g for the 3 gifts I need to patiently wait 6+ more months since the day the announced they know it’s a problem.
Don’t know if I was ever clear about this. I know they are fixing it, and assuming they don’t screw it up completely by making the SH take months and/or be based on more RNG and/or make it completable faster than X amount of time no matter how many 10h/day sessions you want to put in (by requiring daily quest or something of the sort) it’s going to be great. My problem has always been the lack of ANY temporary action (except the failed karka thing and promise we will not be seeing anything of the sorts for a long time while they work out the issues).
Besides there will always be people like Vol who will buy it at the price (even if until now he did no such thing for his legendary, at least one, probably both). And there will also always be TP barons and investors who enjoy that kind of thing (which is fine) that just don’t care and will also buy it any any price to skip the SH and save 1-3weeks.
I hate Vol more and more…just saying…. (go ahead, take a look at his life time posts).
I wonder if I can manage to get my 1st infraction for this statement hmmm. Also since this invites ppl to look at mine as well I’ll save you the troble: everything is QQ in wall of text format about precursors, not having character specific keybinds and me admitting to feeling forced into item flipping which I did/do and hated/hate.
Forgot to mention that 990g Dusk will never sell but it will rise the price even more so they can unload those last manipulated Dusks they still have stacked up. Also just because a select few can and are willing to do something it doesn’t mean the situation is ok. Just because some ppl solve their problems with a drive-by it doesn’t mean the deserved punishment for doing something that someone didn’t like is getting shot. Or just because some ppl are willing to pay everything they own in this world for a vaccine that can save their lives it doesn’t mean it shouldn’t be made accessible to more ppl (if not everyone). Oh great now I’m doing it (god kitten RL examples always sound bad about games).

No, I have a very clear definition of fair in this case, but that one is subjective so I stick to stating was isn’t fair.
People having to farm gold at a 4g/h (doing activities you might not like because other than Orr or dungeons run very quickly and efficiently – to read as “skip everything you can”) up to 600g for 1/4th of a legendary when the majority of the people that have it got the WHOLE thing by one or more of the following:
- TP speculation (which is fine in itself but it should not be a requirement to obtain legendaries)
- TP manipulation that hurts everyone else (this one isn’t fine in any form)
- TP item flipping with dozens of orders and constantly checking and re-posting the orders and items (this is inconveniencing other people but it can’t be defined as bad like manipulation is – the point is it still should not be a condition for obtaining the gold you need since it’s a meta-game that a lot of people hate, don’t have time for etc)
- having better pcs and logging in for a 1 time event with a ridiculously high drop rate that WILL NOT BE REPEATED (or similar ones that will not happen for a long long time)
- grinding karma in Orr before patches instead of doing content (people having 3 million karma only from a few days of that)
- bugging recipes for free precursors in forge
While everyone that isn’t in those categories has to grind/farm or simply play the game but dozens of more times the nr. of hours for the same result.
For my personal definition of fair (which is somewhat irrelevant , but you sort of asked for it) that only applies to the current way of making legendaries (not for the fixed quest that requires a certain maximum amount of time to complete that you finish faster if you only do that 6h/day working to complete it when it will be added*):
- NO precursor should cost over 300g while still obtainable through mystic forge as it is now
- OR adding a fixed recipe that requires dungeon tokens (or other souldbound items not to affect the economy even more). Fixed recipe that would take approximately the same amount of time (played time, that also takes into consideration the DR on dungeon tokens/day) required to get 300g by doing the most profitable dungeon (or farming spot). And one of these should happen soon , really reallllly soon not in April or later (when the SH will probably be added).
—————————————————————————
If they add SH and it has a hard imposed time limit that would also be unfair (and generally bad) unless the precursor prices drop to a reasonable threshold at the same time, which they probably will (why should everyone that didn’t get lucky or took part in bugged/unintended content get theirs in a matter of weeks and everyone else would have to wait a randomly, decided by Anet, amount of time doing the SH before getting theirs). The best example of what we should not see in the SH is “you must repeat this SH specific daily achievement 150+ times before getting the precursor from the SH” or “you must get a number of X items that are a 3% drop from Y type of event”. It would also mean everyone with an alt has to wait 4 months for a 2nd precursor or be in the same situation as now (where the precursor is over 650g with no other choice to get it except gambling).
A reasonable time limit (again this whole paragraph is subjective) would be 1 month for SH completion (if we only consider the system from then on, atm April or later + 1 month for all of us with 3 gifts sitting in bank is already unfair/too much considering everything that happened until now and how this game isn’t supposed to be grindy).
P.S. That dude with a Ferrai didn’t get it for 1000 dollars by hacking the Matrix or buying it early and no one can get one for that price now or at any point in the past (except if someone won the lottery and bought one but those are one a million cases and it doesn’t apply to GW2). Also GW2=/= RL.
(edited by Kain Nosgoth.4218)
Thinking back everything they did made it worse.
Admitting precursors start looking like unreachable goals => ppl assume they will do something soon=> start with gifts (=>prices go up, this also becomes a problem with ascended thing later on when they are added).
Karka thing => some ppl happy and a lot more thinking it’s unfair (also slight increase in ppl defending they current way of getting precursors so they can feel like unique snowflakes for the longest possible period of time).
Admitting one time events in that format due to timings and low end pcs ISPs etc and that we will not get another one like that for the foreseeable future = more hope crushing for everyone that was hoping for more precursors (which would have been normal and fair).
Increasing MF chances for precursor drops (my guess is they did it for random 4 weapon types and not for 4 of the same type without telling us that)=> again ppl think something will change (but market manipulation ftw, they knew about it, they have the numbers) – for some reason saw a decrease in supply (not counting orders, which were still to high anyway).
Announcing legendaries will be upgraded to ascended = BiS = increase in price when they knew it was already horrible (the whole t6 market and getting a precursor).
Talking about SH => again ppl thinking it will happen soon (sooner than 5 months anyway). => starting with gifts (which will soon be cheaper to make).
Telling us in some 1h long video that there will be new places that drop precursors => again everyone thinks it will go down in price (at least not up).
Reducing price of everything else (that has not stabilized yet but it’s happening and it’s good except for this particular problem) without doing something on the precursor side => even without manipulation prices were/are going to rise.
The only thing they didn’t do yet is to announce legendaries can have their stats changed for a 25g fee as many times as you want and will become account bound (both things would be great, but I mean announce this before fixing precursors).
(edited by Kain Nosgoth.4218)
No, it’s not perfectly normal. The other mats didn’t go down by 320g. This is market manipulation at it’s best because now they know there will be no precursor changes until February.
Assuming you would be right (and even if not) it’s also not fair and probably the worse handled thing yet in GW2. How can they make changes that will obviously destroy everyone that started with their gifts instead of their precursor. Not forgetting the karka handout and godskull exploit with zero repercussions and low lvl rares working.
And all this after they had admitted that 350g was becoming “an unreachable goal” long before.
Time to stop acting like scared kids who did a booboo (karka thing) and don’t want to do another one to upset mommy and try a different temp fix that won’t keep Dusk at 660-990 until April + when the SH is ready (when everyone that has only 400g will start from scratch doing it, which might take 2+ more months).
(edited by Kain Nosgoth.4218)
There is no missinformation. Some of us don’t have temples all the time to farm Charged Lodestones 3h /day (or the intention to do such a boring crap). And some of us who did anyway (to be read “me” – for onyx lodestones) from 7 × 3h sessions got: 1, 1, 2, 0, 0, 0, 0 lodestones =>6g over 21h over 2 weeks (so it wasn’t DR) + 2-4 more gold from the trash.
Here we go, rant number 15. Addressed to all the people that fall in the category of “I see no problem with grinding 5-6 g/2 fractal runs all they way up to 600g for a precursor and 600g more g for the other 3 gifts + all the 10g for 2 crafting profs + 50g for all the exotics (assuming you don’t like dungeon models or simply hate dungeons) on each character. And most of it is optional vanity skins and if you really want them you should work for them hard and you will feel better when you get them and if it was easy you would run out of things to do”. Heh 6 line category name.
I would like to have something more to show for (for myself not to show of) after 1366h played in 4 months (I took a 3 week break) other than an unfinished Dusk that I flipped my fingers of for (which I hated, and I’m still doing and it is worse than archeology in WoW), inconveniencing ppl placing orders in TP (otherwise I wouldn’t be near the point where I only need Dusk).
No, I don’t want to work as hard (to be read as “LONG”) as we have to atm for ONE legendary/Mjolnir/and the like, sue me . And NOOOOOOOOOooooo, I will not run out of things to do should they make precursors and ascended gear and lodestones (for other cool looking exotics) easier (to be read as “faster” and “attainable through even more ways than atm”) to get. There are 20 legendaries (and more planed), 8 professions, dozens of cool weapons, predicted expansions with new classes/races, and new content almost every month for the next few years.
If you are the kind that plays 1 character every day 1h and 2h on weekends and like to work hard and long for something good looking that’s all find and dandy since you can do fractals until you can afford the 1900g legendary from the TP (in 1 year, well it will drop in price but you get the idea). It stops being ok as soon as everyone else that doesn’t want to play that way has no other options because you also want your long worked for items to be as exclusive as possible (acting like if I were to get a legendary on each alt I could/would eightuple log in and flaunt them and it would make them less special).
Yes, I want more worthwhile stuff faster instead of doing things I don’t like repeatedly only for 1 thing bound to only one character after 6 months.
Yes besides the flipping I did enjoy those 1300h but we are talking about some tangible “reward” “goal” here.
Yes, this post is just an opinion and NO I didn’t make it sound so cutting having anyone in this thread in mind even if there are some similarities in phrasing.
Yes, I admit to having a Dusk/legendary obsession >points at all his posts being mostly about that<.
Yes, I still want character specific keybinds…yesterday!
Great OP btw (well exotics are not that hard to get depending on how many characters you want them on).
Keep in mind that they are adding laurels and planning on some type of rewards for earned achievements and scavenger hunt (which hopefully will not have a hard time limitation – i.e. you need to do a specific daily x nr of times to infuse the precursor before it’s ready or farming some soulbound stuff with epic DR after 1h). Why should rushers not be welcome in here, it doesn’t affect you if each person’s progress towards legendary (for example) is individual (if they added a set nr of tasks you can complete as fast as humanly possible should you choose to do so instead of over a few months)?
Yes another wall of text with no TL:DR -sry.
(edited by Kain Nosgoth.4218)
“Note how you start off slamming those who invested in halloween skins only to end your next post proclaiming this will be you in a few months.”
There was no slamming. What I meant was that long term investments should not be the only viable way of having enough currency to obtain something in a reasonable amount of time. (I also admitted to item flipping somewhere, and that does harm people. Making it less rewarding would mean less incentive to do it. When I won’t need to grind for gold I want to move to investing because that doesn’t inconvenience others that place orders.)
If you look at the posts in the forums there are more people that want precursors to be either easier to get or harder(or the same) but in a reliable way. There are more of those than people that want them hard and exclusive and preferably still rising in price from the current 600g or ppl opposed to SH (at least in the voiced part).
250g was somewhat arbitrary based on the prices at time they said the prices were becoming unreasonable due to low supply. I should have used a “could” in stead of “would” and “lower, more reasonable price” instead of “250g”.
I never asked anyone to play how I want. The market manipulation is a bad thing and it needs to go. People that want to grind/farm for the gold are free to do so. Flipping and investing are also fine (I do one and hope to move to the other) even if one of them is inconveniencing ppl).
Everything I wanted wasn’t forcing anyone to anything. Instead of only more RNG they could have also added 1 more way to get precursors. How does that force you to play differently?
Never claimed they are not opinions, they are event pointed out to be that in 1 post. There are only 2-3 facts in here.
There are just a few ppl that repeatedly post everywhere how they want precursors to remain the way they are or be made harder. 4 was the number I have found until now (yes, you are not one of them).
The market manipulation I’m talking about in this context is: ppl with over 2500g buying every Dusk and reposting them for 100g more (it’s a form of item flipping but with the added “anything lower/way lower than me I buyout so the prices stay high or rise and it works because the supply is limited”).
I admit I could have phrased some things differently. I’m not a fan of breaking down posts or defending opinions line by line (I still do it sometimes as you can see here) so I’m going away now (and waiting to see the results of 28th Jan since, like I said, I COULD BE WRONG about it’s effects).
(edited by Kain Nosgoth.4218)
Market manipulation should be exterminated. Flipping items and stacking on things that will rise in value is perfectly fine and yes it can be fun. Anet could influence whatever the hell they want (but shouldn’t and won’t). What they should do is add different ways of obtaining things to kill market manipulation (and they are but it will take months and in the meanwhile they choose to ignore it or just marginally increase supply which won’t do anything).
That’s how the game is but it doesn’t mean it’s how it should be or how it was intended to be (exactly why they are making changes).
The only complaint about precursors is it takes to long atm (so long that with current trends you can’t even get it unless you play in a certain way that isn’t fun for the majority since it keeps rising) and waiting the promised fix will take even longer than just grinding the unreasonable amount (when a more reasonable fix was just as easy to add).
Good news everyone! In 6 months from now I’ll be exactly in the right game and I’ll also turn into a large sum investor (keeping items that can only rise in price, which isn’t market manipulation) and that will also be very fun. This was always what I was planning on.
While people are willing to pay for precursors, the price will still or increase.
The problem here is that a lot of ppl think that the only way to get gold is grinding and grinding, there are a lot of ways to get gold and you just need to use your brain and think
The problem here is ppl play the game to play the game not make investments into halloween skins and bank them for 4 months to quadruple their money to afford 1 vanity item. (Or worse, market manipulate or a more tedious version to flip items and in the process reduce the chances of normal players of actually getting their orders filled…ever).
Stop trying to prove/convince ppl paying 600g (or more) for a precursor is ok just because some ppl can pay and are willing to do it . (and 600 is already an artificial price since we have devs admitting to market manipulation).
I think there are about 4 ppl that keep posting everywhere how this is perfectly ok and they don’t mind. The minority of the voiced minority of the large number of players that cba to forum and complain about this.
Also, just when I thought this can’t be any worse I find out NCsoft had this problem before in other games and added the limited supply items to a vendor for a fixed price to stop the market manipulation. The fact that we will probably have to wait for the last item for a legendary for 4 more months when they could have gone with the middle ground (a fixed recipe from soulbound things that takes between 2 to 8 weeks depending on what type of player you are) is just bad.
Side note: Yes, I know Anet mostly does their own thing, and yes besides the lack of tangible rewards from many of the activities (for now) and this important “end game” goal being broken this is a great game (you don’t see me complaining about anything else).
(edited by Kain Nosgoth.4218)
Haha?! Didn’t they publicly admit that precursors were to high in price back when it was 350g for Dusk, exactly why they the did the (wrong)“free precursors from Karka event” move? I’m not making stuff up (when I am I point it out).
If they made a recipe based on earning soulbound materials, chances are that it would involve just as much time grinding for that stuff as you would grinding for gold.
Except it would be calculated to take the same time as grinding 250g not 640.
And even casuals can be asked to do 1 dungeon /day for 2 months.
And if everyone that isn’t ultra casual can get it like this so the prices drop for everyone else.
And if they are so casual they will wait for Scavenger Hunt anyway or not even try it.
Besides, more ways to get things are always good (unless they ruin the economy somehow). AND IT’S STILL EASY TO IMPLEMENT.
(edited by Kain Nosgoth.4218)
Fixed recipe doesn’t mean mystic coins and orichalcum. It can mean dungeon gifts (1-8 mixed into 1 new gift), bloodstone shard(s) (or multiple scrolls) it can even contain 1x random drop item shared between precursors (with a higher than 0.000000002% drop rate) or multiple of these random drop precursor shards dropping from puzzles or dragons. All this requires is still adding 1 thing to some drop tables and a few MF recipes.
2-4% is way too high. That’s way higher than the exotic drop rate as it stands.
also, Mesmer portals for JP. That won’t happen.
4% at the end of the JP in Malchor’s leap (it takes 1h and you need to gather 12 items etc) is not that high IF the precursors (or tokens for them) are account bound and you need to be lvl 80 to have a chance at the drop.
Also they should be adjusting that exotic drop rate anyway (and probably will).
Or crafting recipes (for each precursor) that are also account bound and create account bound precursors – recipe you need to find 3-5% drop from something mesmers or not – and THEN you need 1 Naegling and 1 bloodstone shard and 1 Eldricth scroll and 250 Elonian Wine or something to craft Dusk with WEAPONSMITHING and it comes out soulbound.
Specific dungeon gifts, 4 of them (different mix for each legendary) + 1 lookalike weapon + some skill pts + some gold (buying crafting recipe for the dungeon gift mixing from Miyani)+having to find your precursor recipe with 2-5% drop.
All this takes as far as coding goes is adding 20 more drops to JPs loot tables and 20 crafting recipes (or 40 if using dungeon gifts as well). You can’t sell stuff so no point in repeatedly farming JPs with mesmers to sell more precursors, you need to find your recipe and get 65g+300 skill pts (or dungeon gifts or something else that won’t affect the economy and will be worth less than 250g total).
It was very vague but “we will be adding places where you have a really small chance at getting precursors” is just bad if it is what it sounds like. You have what, 1% at getting a random precursor from a dragon with 3 of them available every 4h and with a zillion ppl now farming them and lagging (not to mention culling) and never getting nothing yourself. Sure it will lower prices but by how much, how fast…if they pull of a perfect % for drops to lower prices of everything at around 250g (and keep it there) it will be like observing asteroid collisions (1 or 2 of them that we know about in 65 million years). Even it works it will take ages to stabilize and by then they might tie in precursors with achievements somehow (in March of Feb maybe) or SH will be out…..oh yea they addressed this issue perfectly here (sarcasm).
There are a few ways that could prove me wrong so going to calmly wait 5 more days (when the release notes will mention nothing about this cuz it’s probably all happening in February….daaaaamnnnnnn itttttt).
Holy wall of text, need to take another long forum break.
(edited by Kain Nosgoth.4218)
Facts:
-Precursors will NOT be available for Laurels (Colin clearly said that in a post).
-There will not be a fixed recipe any time soon (unless someone from Anet lied somewhere or intentionally didn’t mention this even when asked directly).
-There will be a small chance to get it in certain places in the world soon (might be 28th might be in February) until Scavenger hunt that is in April or later. Those places can be Dragons, certain events, certain bosses (maybe even inside Arah), JPs (we don’t know yet and I’m not sure they will even mention where they add them in the 28th release notes, if it’s happening then).
Opinions:
It’s not dropping in price, not by much, I find this TO SUCK VERY MUCH. They admit there’s a problem, they know fixing it right will take them 5+ more months (they knew it’s bad since before Karka), they refuse to add any temporary fix and just plan to add a few more places where you can “get it, but it’s a small chance” (paraphrasing MMOFTW video from 18th) when they know this won’t fix anything at all and just force a few more ppl into trying to grind those spots for Mystic Forge-like chances (at least it wont cost gold).
I’m waiting to be proven wrong … maybe if the drop rate is something like 2-4% from each dragon and each really hard JP (I’m looking at Griffonrook run and the one in Malchor’s leap + a few others) and each Temple in Orr and each Meta event (all done at lvl 80). Then we are talking drop rates similar to Warglaives from WoW except it won’t have 1 attempt/week .
(edited by Kain Nosgoth.4218)
I’m wondering if some of you guys hear yourselves. Best example atm is “just add it for 200-400 crowns and be done with it”. Really? You want to do daily and monthly for 5 months until you can only buy ONE item (precursor) and not be able to get anything else for the same currency? Yes we get 40 crowns/month and no, achievements we already have will almost 100% not give crowns but a different type of reward and we might not see that until Feb or March.
At this point precursors should be like candy for some of us. I.E.: you have 150g and 100% world and over 3000 achiv pts and story completed and the other 3 gifts in account bank you get a token in mail instantly that you use with the 150 g to buy your desired precursor from Myani (and make any precursor obtained like this soulbound).
1) CHARACTER SPECIFIC KEY BINDS (When? And why not already?)
2) Ways of obtaining PRECURSORS before Scavenger hunt – where are we on that? (and not ways that take 3 months of doing daily achivs, just in time to not need it anymore – cuz of S. Hunt).
3) Any plans on splitting achievement points? (I.E. Gold = capped at 5000, from one time achievements, this nr. will go up as you add more holiday events etc, SILVER – from repeatable achivs and infinite ones, and maybe Bronze for WvW/sPvP achivs).
4) Any chance for the rewards based on already earned achiv pts to be live in the February update (or before)? AND what’s the time frame for Feb update (25th and on or …?
5) ACCOUNT BOUND LEGENDARY weapons?!
(edited by Kain Nosgoth.4218)
Yes we still get jugs and the other stuff.
Forgot to ask if we get crowns from PvP daily and monthly (meaning 80/month not 40). I hope not, I don’t want to be forced into doing pvp just to get my ascended and precursor at 2x speed.
“Safe to skip” warning -huge off-topic below.
--——————————————————————————
That also reminds me that infinite tier achievements and daily’s shouldn’t even give the same type of achievement pts.
When you have done every single “special” (enough to have an achievement) thing in the game (multiple times) and you have ~5000 pts and the guy next to you only has 1 character and didn’t do 70% of the content even once and is rocking 6000 pts from daily pvp achievement (that you don’t do) and because he didn’t take a 3 week vacation and he also salvaged every item instead of vendoring them because he doesn’t need any money you know something is “wrong” with the system. Not because he has more than you but because the number means nothing if you can get it by doing nothing special…a few hundred times.
Sure having a 2nd type of achievement pts to keep track of and feel a really vague statistical sort of personal progression from everything you do repeatedly (daily, monthly, nr of events, salvage grind) for yourself is/would be great IF IT WERE SEPARATE and not taking away from the other achieved things.
Current version: “Yay I feel good because I have xxxx pts and it shows I have done lots of special things…oh wait…it could also mean I didn’t do anything important a few hundred times”.
Whatever, it’s just a number (or 2 if they would separate them) anyway.
(edited by Kain Nosgoth.4218)
For paid server transfers: they should only be paid from low to high population for a while (also add some guild transfer option with a gold cost and/or a way longer transfer cd for everyone involved if you choose to move the whole guild).
Also – I WANT CHARACTER SPECIFIC KEY BINDS implemented (I haven’t see any info or questions about this anywhere, not that I looked very hard, but, if there is any can someone tell me where).
