Okay, so — as usual — I got my answer through third party websites and not via ArenaNet:

http://dulfy.net/2017/08/01/gw2-spearmashal-weapon-skins-and-sunspear-outfit/

Thanks for the link. But why is the skirt to big for a female human?
Compare the third picture of human female with the human male skirt.
Why is the female one so bloated????

I hope there’ll be preview codes soon.

Yep, I got the same artifacts on the panties of that armor in Verdant Brink at the first waypoint of the map. Only zooming as close to the character possible makes it go away. But you can’t play with that zoom.

No artifacts at the Pact Encampment waypoint in Verdant Brink.

In Auric Basin I can use the first two zooms without getting the artifact at the first waypoint of the map. No artifacts at the Southwatch WP.

In Tangled Depths Ogre Camp no artifacts whatsoever.
But at the first waypoint I got the artifacts outside the first two zoom tiers.

No artifacts in Dragon Stand and Bloodstone Fen.

So there seems to be some environment or ambient shader screwing over the depth detection at higher zoom tiers in some places in Tangled Depths and Verdant Brink for that armor.

There is absolutely NOTHING well designed in this fight. Whoever designed that boss fight should NEVER work on boss fights again in my opinion. It was that bad.

Dying, respawning and right after reentering the room being at under 1000 health or just flat out dying again is pure attrition. I died several times in a row without being able to do anything because there was too much going on and I couldn’t see what is going on all around me.

I absolutely hated it. This is the third time they hid the exploration of a new map behind a mandatory mission all your characters have to do.

They did it with Drytop, with the expansion we payed money for and now again with this.

This particular mission is also kitten. The player character is a pathetic pushover that never makes a decision of his/her own. How about “No, I don’t want to test this kittenty arena. I have to fight a kittenING Dragon!”

Stuff like that ruins the notion that Primordus is a threat.

Another thing that ruins that is the fact that apparently the player character is so kittened that he/she thinks having ONE person doing the research on this dangerous dragon is totally enough.

The mission itself wasn’t fun either. The destroyer waves were too long and the “funny” easter egg was just annoying.

This mission spread a two minute dialogue into a 12 minute waste of time. And you have to repeat it on EVERY single of your characters you want in the new area.

Missions like that destroy the ridiculously small amount of immersion this game has to offer.

They also had the stupid as bread player character in the Guild Wars 1 Nightfalls expansion probably before that even. So no change in that area for nearly a decade now.

Staff #1 skills are horrible.

The previous reply already addresed your missleading claim that this wasn’t marketed as end-game content, I wonder what kind of response you’ll come up with to claim that they never gave you a hint.

Nope. Doesn’t matter. The website where the player clicks on the “Purchase Now” button must contain that information and it doesn’t. Everywhere else is irrelevant.

All ANet had to do is add a “For experienced players only that look for a challenge” anywhere visible on that page with the “Purchase Now” button and everything would be great. But then a LOT of players would not have bought it. That is why that information is hidden from the buyer on some other website.

Bbl I’m off to buy legacy of the void and then complain about them never marketed it as a protoss-focused expansion, no wai!

Notice how “challeging group content” is a separate item to “explore new open-world jungle maps”. They are talking about the raids there not about the difficulty of the rest of the game. It’s misleading.

Elite Snipers die in -5 attacks? And the “big tell” is only shown to ONE player. Everyone else who stands on that line gets oneshot by the elite without any warning.

Btw noone claimed the expansion is only for those who like challenging stuff,…

Several people in this very thread have said exactly that.

…The only reason I’m asking for one is because you keep claiming a lot of people have a problem with this, if you’re unable to provide one we can assume it’s just you who have a problem with this.

If any game designer would have the same attitude as you do they would go down pretty fast. The big majority who don’t like something don’t complain they just leave silently. They have bought this expansion but the next one they won’t and then ANet could get into really big trouble.

And people like you don’t get that.

…..

And all of the threads end in the same way as this one. A vast majority of people disagree.

….

Do you really think that 10 people out of a player base of a few hundred thousands is a majority? Even if we only look at those frequenting this forum the people in this thread disagreeing with the OP would be a minority.

…. Anet has said that this new xpac was suppose to be harder then the core stuff.

It’s irrelevant what ANet said somewhere on the net. What matters is what they say on the webpage where they sell the product. And it doesn’t say anything about it being harder on there.

[Suggestion] Overload

in Elementalist

Posted by: Kashrlyyk.5364

Kashrlyyk.5364

Right now you have to stay in an attunement for 5 seconds to get the overload version of that attunement. My suggestion would be to change that to this: After 5 seconds you get access to all the overloads of the other attunements. So when you switch you switch to the overloaded version of that attunement.

The overloaded attunement would have additional affects for the next x seconds or x skills used depending on what attunement you switch from.

Example: When you switch from earth to any other overloaded attunement the next 10 seconds all skills of that attunement either increase your toughness or grant protection.

Fire could give fury. Water could add small heals to allies close to where the skill hits, Air could give a fixed amount of stamina back with each cast and arcane would increase the direct damage.

I think that would be much more interesting than what we currently have but also a nightmare to balance.

Yeah, but D/D is pretty cool, so making more of that is a good thing. You highlighted jealousy over the Berserker announcement, but really how is Berserker not just “more of what Warrior already does?”

D/D is the reason why ele will always get lackluster new things. How do you make sure that the squishiest class has a melee build? 1) By turning them into a melee class with a spell or 2) by giving them overpowered abilities.

As long as D/D is OP everything else that is added will be weak. So no D/D is not cool, it’s a crutch for the balance team to reduce their workload.

Giving the squishiest class a melee build is always a horrible idea.

What did you expect them to ask in that popup? “Do you want more challenging content? YES/NO”?

….

That or pointing the players to where the survey is happening, where the feedback can be given. It’s not enough to have the launcher have a tiny little banner about it because thanks to “Autoplay” this banner might not be seen by lots of players.

….

By putting the CDI about it on the forum, they give everybody the possibility to give their opinion about it.. so yes they asked everybody.. Not everybody answered.

….

They asked a reasonable sampling of active players (all of whom span the spectrum from low playtime or low skill to high play time or high skill players). It allowed for better and more detailed feedback on the issue rather than just a yes/no poll of the entire playerbase.

It’s very well known that most players do NOT visit the forums of the games they play. And the ones who do visit are more likely to NOT be casual players. So from the start the feedback was suffering from a massive selection bias. So no they did not ask a “reasonable sampling”.

That is why they should have made an ingame popup to actually give every player a chance to give feedback.

They asked players what they want more than once. They got feedback and now the respond.

1700 replies? How many are from the same person? And compared to the population of GW2 what percentage of the ENTIRE player base answered? So NO they did not ask the players, the asked probably the smallest subset of the playerbase and now claim they know what ALL of them want.

Again they have NEVER asked ALL the players!!! Because for that they would have to add a popup ingame to inform the players that they want their opinion and they NEVER did that.

Ten Ton Hammer: Guild Wars 2 isn’t known for being a challenging game and rival products such as WildStar that pushed a hardcore agenda struggled to retain players. Why have you decided to now implement more challenging content with Heart Of Thorns?

Colin: […] So why more challenging content now? Simply put – it’s what our players have been asking for – and we agree with them that it will make Guild Wars 2 a deeper and more compelling game experience. We don’t have issues retaining players, and we think providing more content they are excited about will only be better for us in the long run.

/Thread

Why do you believe that lie (the bolded part)? ANet has NEVER asked any of their players ingame what they want!!

In that interview Colin just asserts that the players want more challenging content because HE/ANet wants it. It’s PR bullkitten.

“Dear From Software, how dare you make everything available on NG+2 in Dark Souls 2! Don’t you know I need a special unique weapon for beating NG+7 to validate my pathetic life because I am a special snowflake?”

Harder content always does ONE thing in most PC games and nothing else: It limits the player! That’s it. It removes options the player can use to beat it. In the Dark Souls series shields go from a defensive tool to something that gets you killed. And sometimes entire classes become useless in higher difficulties. That is why I don’t like high difficulty. It is too restrictive.

A ranged melee class? Umm, it’d be better to say that Ele is a mid-ranged bruiser and it can beat Warriors because Warriors are: a tad weak right now; outside of Rampage, they’re not doing terribly great. Also, you assume the Warrior is melee only, but Longbow is one of their most popular weapon choices :L

Elementalists are a ranged magic class with a freakish melee component that is way too strong.
No, I don’t but 5 out of 7 main hand weapons a warrior has are melee weapons, so warriors ARE a melee class!

….
That also assumes that just because a class that is focused on one thing that it means it can’t be beat by another class doing the same thing…..

I NEVER said that. You need to read my posts. I said:

So a ranged class should always beat the most melee focused class in the game in melee combat and you call that balanced????

The highlighted word is important. Read SkiTz.4590 comment. An Ele beating a warrior is the “normal” event and loosing is the “freak” event. And that is the opposite of what should be normal. An Ele beating a warrior in melee should be the exception not the rule.

For a while, the whole idea that the other games would move on without me if I didn’t play was motivating, but then it just began to seem like a pointless and endless treadmill just to try not to get left behind.

…I don’t see ascended CRAFT especially grindy – most of materials needed for it drops EVERYWHERE – the only issue of it it limit of one ecto refine of each type per day – but that have nothing to do with grind – you have materials you are just required to wait and can do other stuff meanwhile….

The ascended light armor set requires 36 bolts of damask which means you have to collect 10800(!!) silk scraps. Of course you can buy the damask. At 12g each you need to grind around 430 gold. All of that is pure grind!

The “Light of Dwayna” requires 4500 scraps of silk. I got down to only a few silvers three times in order to get that item. I went down to only a few silvers three times in order to get the silk. Just that ONE item required for the crafting cost that much. The grind was so kitten and boring I nearly quit playing the game entirely! ANet nearly lost a customer because of their kittenty decision with the amount of silk required.

It’s fire staff, so we’re pretty set in that regard too. At maximum effectiveness, literally all you do is spam 2 off cooldown and autoattack, and maybe a meteor shower situationally, and possibly use utilities.
So that’s maybe five or six total separate buttons pressed in order to achieve maximum power at any point in a dungeon.

I think you misunderstood me. I was interested in knowing how many key presses an ele player has to do to deal the highest damage and then see that compared to how many key presses the other classes have to do to reach their highest damage. That includes the key presses required to reach “maximum effectiveness”. I was not interested in how many “separate buttons” are needed.

Basically a table with “Number of keys pressed” on one column and “Damage done with that number of keys pressed” in the second columen for all classes. As far as I know NOONE has ever done that on this forum.

Talking about balance without having necessary informations and data is just useless.

Most importantly, this should be done in a way that does not increase PvE abilities, because everyone knows Ele damage is highest by now.

I don’t think that is important. At least it is much less important than the question how many buttons does an ele have to press compared to the other professions to get how much more damage than they do?

If an ele has to press twice as many buttons but only gets 10% more total damage out of it then we have a problem.

So how is the situation in that regard for the ele?

Saddest thing any ANet employer has ever written so far was Regina Buenaobra:

Tournament Ruling – 06 February 2009

In the most recent GvG tournament, Rebel Rising [rawr] and Survival Rate [zero] tied against each other by coming to an agreement and choosing not to fight while the timer counted down. Forcing a draw at that stage of the tournament guaranteed both teams a place in the Top 16. Based on documentation and reviews of the event, we observed both guilds willfully and knowingly conspiring to intentionally draw the match in this way. It was very clear that both guilds broke tournament rules, which state that participants may not engage in any form of ladder manipulation or unsportsmanlike conduct. Both guilds agreed to tie the match, and they did so knowing that they were breaking the rules.

As a result, both guilds will have their cape trims removed. Rebel Rising [rawr] will have their permanent gold cape trim removed for a period of one month. Survival Rate [zero] will not receive their silver cape trim for placing in the Top 16. The guilds’ rankings will remain the same.

We feel that removing status (cape trims) rather than resetting their rankings sends a stronger signal to the guilds involved, while still being lenient in this first offense. Future offenses of this type may be treated in a stricter manner, including temporary or permanent bans for any players involved.

http://guildwars.incgamers.com/forums/showthread.php?486098-Fixing-Matches-in-mAT&p=5482223&viewfull=1#post5482223

ANets reaction to a similar first offense sometime earlier with two different guilds was:

“We were officially removed from one full season of play because Vanquisher asked Black Rose Gaming to resign (which they didn’t). …..”

Oh, and yes they got punish because someone ASKED to cheat not because they ACTUALLY cheated.

New Hairstyles Movement?

You know I wanted to make a thread about the new ponytail for human females and talk about the fact that the distance between the hair and the skin of the cheeks is way too big. You can see the ear through the gap but the hair not being animated ruins the new hairstyles completely.

Boom-Boom Baines, poor design?

….

Actually this mechanic is counter intuitive. Wheter you call it zerging or what not. There was never MMO where more players ment much longer fights. So yeah, how would someone know that wandering in the area will screw fight up?

I surely didnt see big neon sign saying “many players unwanted, please stick to small groups, the smaller the better, and if youre not in a small group GTFO because you will scale boss to heavens”

^This.

It baffles me to see players not only defending this most kittened game design ever but actually insulting other players. THE ONLY THING SCALING SHOULD DO IS PREVENT BOSSES FROM DYING TOO FAST!

This is the only game where cooperation is punished. And players are so kittening stupid they defend it.

Thanks for fixing "Dedicated Sprinter" but

I am just curious:

Why does this fix require the download of dozen of files?

Game Updates: Guild World Events, Megaservers, WvW

I am not sure if that has been mentioned but the overpopulation of areas thanks to the megaserver causes another problem namely that enemies die so fast that you can’t hit them with arrows or other projectiles.

Now this problem existed before the megaserver but now even small events are often overrun with players.

[ Suggestion ] Get rid of attunement swapping

in Elementalist

This suggestion would require an entire rebuilding of the elementalist class and therefore is as likely to happen as hell freezing over.

But hey, whatever.

So instead of the “kittenty attunement swapping mechanic”™ the elementalist would be the only class where skills are NOT tied to weapons. They’d have two weapon slots and the weapons would just give boni to the skills depending on the weapon.

This would mean the elementalist chooses the 10 skills for both weapon slots from all the current weapon skills which need to be rebalanced to get rid of all the ridiculously long recharges that were forced on the player because of the “kittenty attunement swapping mechanic”™.

Conjures need to be entirely changed though or removed.

This suggestion was sparked by this thread
