I chose Armorsmith, Weaponsmith and Artificer since I bought a crafting discipline lisence. However the extra liscense was not needed, since as DKShang said, you can have an other toon for that.

Are we talking about PVE in general (map completion, events ect.) or dungeons, fractals, raids?

I might not be able to help out n WvW builds, since Iam more PVE orientated.

So is the Decree condition supposed to have multiple icons like one for each boon?

Other than that I like the idea.

I play T4 Fractals almost everyday with my Guard, equiped with full Soldier’s (Hipster build alert) using GS Mace/Shield. Every now and then I switch GS to Hammer, the 4 mini bosses in uncatagorized for example (rabbit, bandit saboteur, charr-like and Ettin). Using Hammer – Mace/Shield with AH and Feel My Wrath gives me alot of defense to eat hit after hit. Therefore being the center of attention while the other teammates can have free hits without the fear getting downed in one blow.

Dont get me wrong, Iam not saying zerk Guards is not viable on T4 Fractals, the above is just my personal playstyle which suits my role as a Guardian just fine.

On Dungeons however, I use my zerk Guard and make more use of active defense: aegis, blindness, reflects ect.

I was thinking the same thing, maybe they should make an extra merchant tab in the lobby that would buy yet another Journal from you for a few gold. Just a suggestion..

I don’t think you get a new name assigned to you should you have an (by accident) offensive character name. I do however believe that you are not allowed to play with that character till the name is changed into a more appropiated one.

This is only speculation, let’s wait till someone can confirm this

Maybe you would like to use some Trailblazer’s stats? The power around 1600 isn’t that high, since you are using precision you might want to crit for higher damage.

I had the same problem for this collection, luckly after killing enough random trash mobs I found one. Took me around 5 minutes. All I can say is; keep trying.

You can do some fractals, you might be able to get a nice amount of cash by choosing the fastest fractals to play. A warning though: some people may find this very boring.

The fractals I run on a daily basis.

lv 1-20 (Adept): lv 2 – lv 10 – The daily recommended for adept fractals

lv 21-50 (Veteran): lv 32 – lv 40 – The daily recommended for veteran fractals

lv 51 – 100 (Champion): lv 56 – 67 – 77

You need to build up till you have enough agony resistance ofcourse.

After these 9 fractal levels, buy some fractal encryption keys till you can open all your fractal encryptions (or save them for later)

Otherwise, stick to SW.

Doesn’t matter which dungeon I run, I always cringe when I see a guard join. Not sure why but they are worse then bear bows now.

I rarely use staff in dungeons, TA I would use but immediatly swap it back before actual combat, or I use it to stack might (rarely have to) should I have no warrior or ele to pull it off..

The real reason I have a staff in my inventory is to mindlessly spam skill 1 during farms.

Anyone else hoped the Thief specialization would be a rifle/sniper thing?

I’m sorry to hear that they put you out of the group like that, it should not be like this. This problem you descibed is familiar to me as well. I play meta builds as well, but I use the builds as a sort of “guidelines” (if that’s the proper word for it).

For example: lets say a dungeon meta build for Warrior usualy has signet of Rage as it’s elite-skill. I for one, chose battle standard in case pugs went down (and I tell you, it happend to often that pugs went down).

At first my fellow war innitiated to kick me from the party, because I chose to rezz him instead of buffing my dmg-output.

Pugs are pugs and you never when know what you can expect. Your party should not have pointed fingers at you, instead they should have made some alterations to their build (adapting). I mean: why would you not make some adjustments if you get downed to often..

I got “The Chosen” once from Lupi after more than 4k hours of gameplay, Lupi has been my favorite boss ever since.

Sold The Chosen and got myself The Hunter instead.

I join the “all welcomed” group.
From the start our guard complains about not having a thief for skips.
They all somehow make it to belka.
Party – 2 bearbow rangers with signet of stone and hunt, 1 full heal guard, warrior with banner of tactics and me.
We kill belka and someone relogs thief for the skip. I ran first but they all died so i finished the skip anyway.
I waited 20min for them to make the skip and ended up asking if i should solo.
Guard flames me that i’m not helping the team.
Guard uses WoR on 50% hp abom without any inquests nearby.
We make it to lupi and end up with 4 grubs because our guard cant dodge, but we killed him on the first try without OS.
I run to unlock WP, they all somehow die on the run from WP to alphard.
Alphard went kinda smooth and so did the last skip except one guy died.
We decided to kill Brie without him and after we killed her I left asap because the terminal was on 5%.
guard whispering me saying it’s my fault they all got teleported away.
guard telling me i’m immature for running first and not waiting for them.
Guard tells me to enjoy my speedruns and blocks me.

Tl;dr: Dont trust all welcome pugs and staff guards.

It looked like you had a lot of fun, especially with mister guard the grub-catcher.

it has nothing to do with toughness in any way. the fight is all about positioning.

Will remember about the toughness, still she likes my guard everytime I have to fight her. Which is fine with me, since I use PVT gear so I can play a sort of tank and the rest of the party provides the damage.

This just works for my guildies and me..

About the soldier gear, did a lv 50 run and was Mai’s target during the entire time, except when someone thought to run away and heal but found out he/she was soon being chased due mai’s teleport.

Is it possible she chooses the persoon with the highest toughness/vit (my guard for example) as her main target, but whenever someone else tries to create some distance she changes her target?

When someone needed to be rezzed, I create as much distance between Mai and myself, hoping to force her to chase me, while other party-members could rezz easily.

See, I grew up a simple farmer in Queensdale. When the Centaurs started their raids on my home lands, I lost everything in the ashes.. friends, family, property..

I did not understand what it was, and regrettably, my curiosity got the better of me. I asked what should have never been asked and a female human stepped forward.
She looked so frail and small, wearing scantly armor showing so much of her skin. I blushed. The scarf around her neck was striped in pretty colours and looked so comfortable and warm. On her back, a round circuit radiating blue magic.. on her head, bunny ears. And holstered at her waist, always ready to strike, something that looked like a welding torch and a hair dryer from which flowers would sometimes errupt. Her mouth and lips were very much covered in spittle, as if she’d been drooling.. and she asked: “lol u wanna farm cof p1 zerk onLy XD”
It was then I knew I had to run..
Thankfully, Logan Thackeray found me, gave me a purpose.. and now I serve as a loyal Soldier Guard with my steady arms holding sword and board. I could not be happier.
Anyways, the moral of the story is..
Keep far away from these “metazerk” people.. I.. I don’t know what’s wrong with them, but it seems like some sort of satanic disease.

HAHA, if it wasn’t for the “zerk” an AP requirement that might have been one of mine. I always put silly stuff there to see if people do it (to know they can read). Lately I’ve been asking for people to bring cookies (no one has yet brought me cookies, but one person brought cake)

A while back when doing Hodor of the Waves I had put in the LFG to type I’m HODOR on join.

Maybe it was you, when I joined that party at SE1 it was if I recall, typed “HODOR!!!!” as requested, thereafter I asked if I past the test. I did pass the test and we had a smooth run.

When I play Mesmer during dungeons I would mostly be doing the:

- Reflects;
- Condition cleanses;
- providing stability;
- (aditional) stealthing, if needed;
- providing quickness during boss-fights;

Somethings I use portal for the somewhat diffucult skips.

This is just my playstyle as a mesmer, hope it helps.

I recently started to use an Engi for SPVP and I was thinking of using a condi-build instead of the meta Celestial-rifle build (I used that build as well, but I wasn’t really font of it).

I got inspired by some condi P/P build and decided to use that build and made some alterations.

How about some brambles that block your way back in the water when you get in range of the Mossman? Something like what Alphard in Arah P2 has.

I do understand that people might not like the idea of killing Mossman like a sitting duck underwater, but honestly…auto-attacking him and getting some coffee in the meantime is okay with me.

I just the following to level my Warrior’s easily, do note that this is based on personal experience and not an acknowledged leveling build. Anyway, have fun with it:

- Buy new gear every 10 levels with mainly: power and precision stats;
- Run a full signet build with the trait: Deep Strikes I (Arms);
- Spend at least 3 pt’s in Discipline for: Warrior’s Sprint III for permanent speedboost and Fast Hands for easy weapon swap: Depending on if you like to use your burst skills, I would reccomend to spend at least 3 pt’s in Defense for Adrenal Health and not using your F1 skill for some nice extra health regen every few sec.
- Weapons mainly used: Greatsword / Sword-Axe. Greatsword has some nice movement skills as well as a free auto-evade on skill 3. Sword as some nice leap skill that can be used as a movement skill. I would reccommend Longbow, should you need some range weapon. LB burst skill + skill 3 can be used to get some might.
- Runes: Again, something that gives power + precision. Should you reach 50% crit Chance, get some runes in some points elsewhere (vitality or toughness). If you have a crit chance and activate Signet of Rage you will have 70% crit chance which is more than enough.
- Sigils: I would recommend a major sigil of energy in each weaponset, or at least 1 of those in 1 set.
- Food: I dont know what food I used during my leveling, I thought it was something that gives some extra power, but it might as well been some food with extra health regen.

When you hit lv 80 and if you need some help with your end build I would gladly help out.

If you are using the Meta Builds, do try to tweak the build to your liking. I for one, use the meta builds as some sort of “guideline” to get some ideas about an efficient build.

Well the problem with stability, is that we got stacks. So we dont have a “solid” stability anymore. You could compare it with defiance stacks I guess.

I see this topic was posted a week ago, but if you want I would still like to help out.
I dont know much about pvp builds, let alone Guardian burning builds in PvP. However for general pve content and dungeons I might be able to help out.

First of all, Iám sorry to disappoint you but I would not recommend a burning build on a Guard for PVE.
To have a condi build, or hybrid build (if you are referring to a Power-condition build) you would have to use more conditions than burning alone.
You would have to use other condition appliers with the use of your weapons (sigil of geomancy, earth and the like), another thing I would strongly advise against it. However if you really insist on using a hybrid-build (Power + condition dmg?) you might want to get some gear with sinister stats, but that would still be a glass-canon build.

If you don’t feel like using a (full) zerker build, I would advise a Soldier’s setup with the traits that are currently used in the meta PVE builds.

If you really insist on use a Guardian PVE condition build I would gladly help out to try and generate one using a build editor.

Its also BETTER if you aoe while ccing the orbs away from him. Like a ranger putting down barrage in order to get procs before using PBS on the orb to knock it away from the husk.

The second, because bubbles actually pop by themselves anyway when they get too close to the husk. And if the offshoots get destroyed, they only put a weak regen buff on the husk. The key to defeating the husk effectively is destroying the bubbles before they get close to the husk.

Interesting, never thought if it that way. People are always shouting to not use AoE otherwise we destroy the bubbles, but if they pop by themselves people might as well consider using option 2 more often.
