I agree with the comments above, but I want to talk about the fun aspect of the revenant. I know this is subjective, but to me the only weapon that is fun is the staff (unfortunately it is underpowered). The mace and axe kill things faster than the other weapons but the skill animations are boring.
The biggest problem I see with the revenant is the inability to weapon swap during combat. If it is true that legends and weapons are tied together, then it would be foolish to switch one without the other. If I can only weapon swap or switch legends then I would rather have the ability to swap weapons. At least that gives me a choice between ranged and melee combat. If I am currently running a hammer and Jalis build why would I ever want to switch to the demon legend? My hammer skills have a range of 1200 but my utility and elite skills will only have a range from 600-240 (which makes more sense if you are using a mace and axe).

If the Shiro weapon and legend combination does considerably more damage then none of these other weapons and legends will be used. So far the revenant is very underwhelming in pve.
So…this club is dedicated to the removal of all JUMPING from GW2?….
….a game that was designed around the concept of jumping to traverse the world in general?
I don’t disagree that an option to LOCK the camera (or some other potential solution) from the ping-pong zoom in/out motion it can present in close quarters (that even makes me woozy at times), but to suggest that JUMPING should be removed from the game is simply narrow minded and some bizarre form of political correctness taken to extremes.
But I guess this should not surprise me on these forums…..
No one at anytime in this thread suggested that jumping puzzles should be removed and in fact, many went out of their way to point out that they didn’t want them removed.
We simply don’t want them to be necessary for map completion.

I will add to this sentiment the hope that elaborate jumping will not be a significant (mandatory) part of progression on the new maps in HoT. They can put a hundred jumping puzzles in HoT for all I care as long as they are optional and not a roadblock to progressing the story. I hope they don’t gate content I am expected to pay for behind stupid gimmicks like they did with the timed jumping skills for Drytop.

I think they should bring out their new version of the trait system before HoT. If they do that people can get their characters ready for the expansion. I refuse to farm for or purchase traits under the current system since they are going to change it.
My biggest fear for HoT is that the maps will require extensive jumping. I hate jumping puzzles. If the new maps cannot be explored by people who hate jumping then they are eliminating a portion of their player base from the game. I am an older player with arthritis, but I am financially secure. I am probably in the top 10% of players when it comes to spending real money on this game. I don’t think my demographic is one they should try to exclude.
how do you feel about dry top?
I did not like the zephirite skills. Timed skills can be difficult when your fingers aren’t as nimble as they were 50 years ago. I only completed the first story on one of my characters. I ran other characters in with the minimum requirement for jumping.

As long as it doesn’t mean HoT is one big JP (which it sounds more and more like it is….)…
This is my biggest fear for HoT. I hate jumping puzzles and the new maps have the potential to be nothing but one jp after another. I probably will not buy this expansion if the new maps only cater to people who like jumping.

I would love to see an expansion. The current game has been stagnant for two years with respect to professions, skills, and weapons. I would give ANET $100 just to be able to play a ritualist in GW2.
Maybe we should be happy everything they have described so far is completely trivial. After the April 15th destruction of the trait system I am not sure ANET is capable of making a change for the better. Nothing they have presented for “new” characters comes close to making me want to create a new character. I love making alts and I tried several since the trait change. When they got to 80 they didn’t have any traits except for ones obtained by accident. I bought the ones I wanted and those characters will never try alternate builds until if ever the trait system changes.

I just bought an everlasting logging axe. My gems were taken but I have not received the axe.
Thanks, that worked
I bought a grandmaster skill manual the other day and it does not work. I have tried multiple ways to get it to work but it will not reset my trait points.
I hate the new daily. Forcing people into groups for the combo finisher that doesn’t even work most of the time is bad enough. On top of that the underwater kills are complete bs, underwater combat is the most screwed up aspect of this game. Finally forcing us to craft is just another way to make us throw money away (even using the mists to get to Lion’s Arch I still have to spend over 3 silver to get back to where I was). I sure hope tomorrow is better.
I am primarily a solo player. I absolutely hate this combo bs added to the dailes. Does ANET even know the meaning of the word fun.
I have a problem with my mouse. Periodically my mouse stops working. For several seconds I can’t do anything then a beeping sound occurs and the mouse starts working again. This happens frequently and occurs both on my laptop and desktop.
I wish there was a solo option for the dungeons. I think it is ridiculous that I can solo my entire personal story until the end. At the end I am forced to group for a dungeon that won’t even end up being my personal story any more. Why couldn’t the story mode for that dungeon just be the individual player teaming up with destiny’s edge?
This game is not the same game that existed prior to the update. The previous game adhered to a manifesto that I bought into completely. I played GW1 for five years and loved it because there was no vertical progression after level 20. Everything I did in that game was for the fun of it (elite skill captures, farming for green items, running dungeons etc.). Prior to this update of GW2 I had the same sense of freedom in this game (four level 80 characters with full exotics) that I still enjoyed playing. Now I fell like I have been lied to and cannot trust anything ANET says again. This does not contribute to play your way and have fun!
Does ANET believe in their own manifesto anymore? If so why did they introduce a vertical treadmill?
The real problem with his “apology” is that he did not even address the main concern people have – tedious vertical progression. They completely destroyed their own manifesto and ANET refuses to admit it!
If these people are different then they either need to adhere to the manifesto or remove it from the website. In the current state of the game the manifesto is nothing but a lie that is falsely attracting new players.
I am tired of people saying if ascended gear only impacted PVE it would be ok. I hate PVP and will never do it. I bought this game because I was promised horizontal progression in PVE once I got my exotic armor. I played GW1 for five years and loved it because I was never in a vertical treadmill. I bought GW2 because I expected (and was promised in the manifesto) that I would be able to play GW2 for years (including expansions) without a treadmill. Now after only 3 months the game I bought no longer exists. The company I thought I could trust no longer exists.
I just got killed in one shot by a worm! I am a level 80 thief with full exotics. Even the drakes take over half my health in one hit.
ANET really screwed up by not having this in place before they introduced the ascended gear fiasco. I was definitely going to pay to change the appearance of one of my characters. Now I will never give these liars another dime.
I have to say, while I’m not thrilled that another tier has been added, I’m not going to join the minority in jumping to wild conclusions based on an update done 3 months after release.
If they add a new tier to the armour level on a regular basis, then I’ll join people in being annoyed. If, however, we are three years down the line and only two tiers have been added to the game, then I’ll be pleased. This is how it was in Guild Wars 1 (sort of, they massively improved the armour system with one the expansions).
Quite frankly, if you think there was never going to be any sort of item progression added in content patches for the entire lifespan of the game, you’re being a bit naive.
I think, more than anything, the timing of the new tier has caused more problems than the tier itself. If they’d have added this after a year, I’m sure the reaction to it would have been much less of a.. panic / hissy fit.
Also frankly, we should be pleased that they’re adding this for everyone in a free update. This is normally the sort of stuff that gets added to expansions.. paid expansions.
No we should not be happy this was added to a free update. This BS has totally eliminated the GW2 model of horizontal progression. If they decided to add this crap to an expansion that costs money I would just never buy it. Instead they are ruining the game I already paid for.
As of today all 3 of these quotes are nothing but lies fed to us by a company I thought I could trust.
It’s a gear step. A treadmill implies it’s continuous. No where have they stated they will be adding anything beyond Ascended gear. In fact they explicitly said they were not intending to keep adding better tiers of gear.
To repeat what others have been saying, please quote where did ANet says no more new tiers?
Until then, we can only stay pessimistic since the balls are in their court, not ours.
“We will not be adding a new tier of gear every 3 months that we expect everyone to chase after and then get the next set and so on.”
He is simply acknowledging that the games been out 3 months and they’ve added a new set to give people something extra to work towards.
He is also explicitly saying that they won’t continue to add sets.
You can read into the sentence at discover any hidden meanings you like, but taken at face value, it simply says they don’t intend to continue adding more tiers.
Maybe I’m just optimistic, who knows, time will tell, and your more than welcome to keep my posts in reserve and say “I told you so” if in 4 months they add another tier.
Until that point I won’t be reading between the lines to uncover apparent hidden truths behind a message.
I don’t care about reading between the lines either. The real problem is once you have been lied to why would you assume they are telling the truth now?
You people really have some trust issues. They have officially said that they will not be creating further tiers of armor past this set. I’m sure they’re aware that they can be quoted on such matters. You aren’t wasting anything.
They also said there would not be a vertical gear grind in this game. We took what they said at face value because in seven years worth of GW1 there never was a vertical gear grind. So now that they have shown us that the Manifesto was just a big lie we are supposed to believe them when they say this is the last tier? Fool me once shame on you, fool me twice shame on me.
So you know yet-to-be-implemented update is bad? Can I borrow your time machine?
You don’t need the time machine to know that you have been lied to. Many of us bought this game because we were suckered into the bill of goods presented in their manifesto. I played GW1 for five years and enjoyed all of it because there was no gear treadmill. Given that experience I accepted all the hype about not being a WOW clone. Now just three months after buying 3 copies of the game (for me and my two sons) they are adding gear progression to end game. How can anyone think that the Manifesto is anything other than a big lie now. ANET has lost my trust and it will be very difficult to get it back. To the fanboys who cannot see a lie when it is staring them in the face I have two famous quotes for you “Thank you sir may I have another” and “There is a sucker born every minute.”
I went back to GW1 yesterday and reminded myself why I liked that game so much. Gear had nothing to do with endgame other than cosmetic appearance. GW1 is truly a horizontal end game. What kept me playing for five years was the fun of capturing new elite skills, designing new builds, trying different secondary professions, and setting up heroes skills (in effect letting you play 6 professions simultaneously). Unfortunately ANET scraped everything that made horizontal progression fun in GW1. There are no elite skills to capture, no new builds to try out. They basically eliminated any thought required to play the game. So now the lazy way out is to jump on the gear treadmill. I have four level 80 characters with full exotics. Before ANET decided to scrap their own manifesto I was confident I could go back to any one of them and play without a handicap. And yes I am thinking of quitting this game because of the gear treadmill and their broken promises. The ironic thing is the game I will probably switch to is GW1.
I hate the addition of gear progression to this game. I am one of the many GW1 players who thought ANET was different. The biggest problem I see with GW2 endgame compared to GW1 is there is no thought required to do most things in GW2. I have well over 100 skill points on my necromancer main. I run Plinx multiple times a day, but I really don’t know why (what else is there to do besides collect mats to sell on the trade broker). I have no interest in the legendary weapon carrot chase. In GW1 you could spend a huge amount of time capturing elite skills and then designing builds around them. Elites in GW2 are largely pathetic and require no in game activity to acquire (beyond having the number of skill points needed). I also really miss the heroes. Acquiring them, building them up and using them in different ways for different things added a significant strategic thinking component to that game that is completely absent in GW2. I think of heroes like a baseball manager does using his/her players in making a lineup to go against a particular team or pitcher. Grouping with other players does not fill that void in any way. Instead of adding gear progression to solve their end game problem they should have added something that allows players to think.
I would love an underwater city. It would certainly make getting all the vistas easier.

Same thing just happened to my group
The same thing happened to me. This is annoying since you can’t run out of the area to exit I have to waste money map traveling.
I was on my level 80 necromancer (with full exotic armor) yesterday in Orr. I participated from the beginning in fighting two champions. I brought out minions and used staff area effects constantly. I got gold rewards but no drop from either boss. These fights took at least 10 to 15 minutes each. I would have made way more money just soloing undead elsewhere. If this is typical, then there is no incentive what so ever to participate in boss fights.

The lack of a response from ANET on this is very disappointing. I used to think they were a good company, but now I am beginning to think they are nothing but arrogant egotists who cannot admit when they made a mistake.
The biggest problem is that the hammer is so boring to use. I tried it for about an hour and just gave up because I play games for fun not boredom. Will play other professions or other games until this gets sorted out.
I am stuck at protecting the front gate. There are no enemies to fight yet the story line will not progress. I have wandered all over looking for something to fight. There is nothing there and the story is stuck.
I am very disappointed in this nerf to the Greatsword. I tried going back to the hammer today and was that a boring play style. So ANET has now given me the choice to have fun playing (even that is less fun now than before) or playing effectively. I may just stop playing guardian until ANET gets its ….insert word of choice here….. act together.
The skill point in the grall cave in Lornar’s Pass is not there. It is the last thing I need for map completion of this area. It is south of Nentor valley
