LOL! Stinky warriors.
We Warriors have been complaining about being smelly since launch! Now instead of just ignoring us like usual you openly mock us?

This is the one new change that they announced that I have reservations about. At this point I doubt Anet will change anything. They’ve already made their big announcement. Chances are things are being finalized I doubt they would make any huge changes this late(but we can hope).
Its great that they are allowing people to use town clothes in combat but its just sad to see it comes at the expense of customization. I really wish they could have just kept the old system and allowed players to toggle between which set they wanted to wear instead of implementing this new system.
It seems that people are for the idea of playing old content but not having a new server for it. My reasoning for wanting a new server is that some of the living story content is open world and requires a large number of people. Having a server dedicated to the old content would hopefully draw enough people to be able to finish the content. I’m not too keen on scaled down versions of things as it seems a lot less epic.
What I was envisioning was a few years down the line most servers would be on the most recent season of the living story while there would be one or two servers reliving each of the previous seasons.
Mainly like others I would just like a chance to play some of the content that I missed and replay some stuff that I enjoyed.
Something I would like to see down the line is a new World(server) that relives the old content. So basically have a world that starts from launch all over again. The class balance and bug fixes would remain in an updated form but living story stuff would be re-released.
This way players that joined late or missed some content will have a chance to play it and players that enjoyed the content the 1st time could replay it again.
What happened to the free hats? We got hats for Halloween and Wintersday last year how come we didn’t get anything this year?
Its always been this way. Its probably more noticeable now due to the LFG tool. Don’t just join the 1st group available for the dungeon you want to do be picky.
There are certain things people type in the LFG tool that indicate that its probably going to be a bad group: Anything about Experienced players only or speed clears. Asking for or excluding certain classes is definitely at the top of that list. Asking players to ping gear. Rolling swamp for fractals.
The problem with a lot of these players is that they don’t really want to play the game. They only care about the rewards. Most of them don’t even have an understanding of the mechanics of the dungeons they farm, all they really know is the safe places to stand and how to skip certain parts of the dungeon.
From my understanding Wildstar is a MMO that focuses are large raids so it has a very different target audience compared to GW2.
Just wondering if today is the last day to do the achievements or if I have more time.
Thnx
Anyone know of any medium shoes that don’t have the toes sticking out or that have them covered. So far the only two that I’ve found are the T3 feet and the new aetherblade ones.
Are there any others or are those my only two choices?
gw2lfg.com
blah blah blah words
They’ve had free trial weekends in the past and will probably have more in the future. So i doubt that they will make free trials a permanent thing at least not in the near future.
I tried watching one of these videos. All they really talk about is Spvp which makes no sense to be because that’s the least popular game type when it comes to GW2. I guess its Anets way of catering to the 1% while neglecting the rest.
Are they still trying to promote GW2 as a esports game when its clearly failed in that department?
SOTG should be more aptly titled State of Spvp.
Last time they reset peoples traits. So basically everyone effected gets a freebie
Last night in Kaineng, my friends (ele and engi) and I were messing around in Greenbriar when, for 30 minutes straight, a Thief was harassing every caravan going to it. Third harass attempt I caught him in the distance and told my friends about it. So we waited.
This pretty much was the encounter from there:
- Prepped “behind me” (queue) in chat.
- Place Tripwire behind Yak.
- Thief trips it less than a second later.
- Said queue when trap disappeared.
- Friends run through me and start using improvised AoE.
- Thief appears and starts attacking us.
- At 30% hp, the Thief pops shadow refuge (which we all saw the refuge).
- All three coordinate a debilitating attack on the Refuge: Ele uses Frozen Ground. Engi uses Glue Shot. I used Caltrops.
- Thief ran out too early at 20% HP and appeared seconds later with Cripple.
- I spam Dancing Dagger to keep his butt crippled while my friends kill him.
It was glorious and the best part was he stuck with the zerg afterwards.
tl;dr ==> l2p
You needed 3 people to take out a thief and your telling others to L2P?
Again… Lol! Straw man. Lol! Didn’t need 3 people. We were all just kitten ed with him.
obviously you did need 3 people otherwise you would have given a different example.

Why would they add support for raid groups when there aren’t even raids. Squads on the other hand could use some work.
1up 1down is still a lot better than what we have now with T1s fighting T4s and such or what we had before where the matchups were always the same.
I don’t think there is such a thing as hard content in MMOs. Anytime your fighting AI all it comes down to is knowing the mechanics. Once that happens its cake.
These Matchmaking problems would all be solved if they would just implement1 up 1 down. Winner goes up Loser goes down and the middle stays in the same bracket. This way there are new matchups every week and
My only beef with thieves is that they have the best mobility and stealth. If their mobility was toned down a bit that would be better.
Hey everyone,
I am looking to make a character that is more WvW focused. I’d appreciate some advice as to what kind of class to role. I had just leveled a Warrior to 40+ and then started to hear things about them not being so great in WvW.
Here is what I am looking for in a WvW character;
I’d like to be a class with a decent roaming capability, and good for small group battles. 1v2, 2v1, ect.
I’d like to be a class that can make the fights last longer. I don’t want to depend on ‘burst him down before he bursts you down’. I’d like to be able to out last my opponent vs, out burst him.
I just tried an engineer and really didn’t have fun doing it. I’m thinking about trying out a ranger for the first time..
What your looking for is probably something along the lines of a D/D ele or a bunker guardian, maybe even a thief.
Warrior’s in my experience don’t excel in prolonged fights. Especially vs condition builds. Both condition removal and healing are sort of lacking. They do however do very well in small group encounters and OK in zergs.
Roaming on a War is pretty decent they have great mobility I can’t catch thieves but then again i don’t think many classes can. In 1v1 fights I can usually kill the other player but if not I can get away fairly easily. Where I find myself struggling is in 1v2 or more situations as opposed to on my guard or ele where i love fighting these fights.
I don’t have much experience in Spvp but in WvW it really depends what your planning on doing. Are you going to roam around or follow the zerg. I find condition removal to be really beneficial. Shake it off and/or the condition removal signet. Lots of people like endure pain for the few secs of invulnerability but I find the CD to be a bit long.
Try looking at the warrior forum.
If my dog did that I would have a broken keyboard.
Isn’t this the reason why the 2 Dragon ball achievements don’t count towards the meta-achievement for the wings
More and more I am experiencing this habit that the community has to despise people who claim to be skilled for this game.
Try it: go to LA, and say that you are a good player.
(Note: I am not saying I do it. This sentence is for rhetorical purposes)People will instantly tell you that you lack humility, that you are an elitist, that you are despicable etc; for no reason.
The reason they are saying those things is cuz its true. That’s what happens when you go around telling people how awesome you are.
People do not want to see or be aware of the fact that some players can be more skilled than them (no boasting, just statement of skill). The community seem to believe that they would be better off without such players.
It appears as if the community would like to stay bad and play only with bad people. It is also the same on the forums.
From my experience is quite the opposite. I’ve been asked about my build/playstyle a bunch of times after dungeons or in WvW. But I don’t run around LA telling people how great I am and that they should copy me.
As a comparison: when you play football as an amateur you play it for fun and you dream of being as skilled as the players of international level. In GW2 the ’amateurs" have no such dreams, worse: they do not want to face the fact that being better is possible.
With all due respect, why the discrimination?
Most of the best athletes don’t tell people how great they are. Its the other way around other people tell the great athletes how good they are. And not all amateur players have aspirations of becoming a professional. A lot of these players in sports and GW2 alike play because they enjoy the game.
If they told people the odds a lot less people would buy them and they would make less money.
This may be. But my loyalty and view of a company will compel me to spend in other areas.
The way we are treated as paying customers go much further than most realize. Even if in the short term it costs them some coin…in the long term, if you’ve done right by me, I’ll be spending money. Lots of it.
I kind of wanted to quote Bruce Wayne here, but saw no clever opportunity: “You don’t understand. One fundraiser with my pals, you’ll never need another cent.”
Are you implying that your rich enough to make up for the losses they will inevitably have if they disclose this info? And are willing to throw enough money at them to offset the losses if they change?
If they told people the odds a lot less people would buy them and they would make less money.
The Winter’s day PVP minigame was leaps and bounds better than Dragon ball. I don’t know what they were thinking when they made this, its a huge step in the wrong direction.
Just Fractals if they don’t have adequate AR. Otherwise I don’t care. But if someone turns out to be terribad, I’ll try to avoid them in the future.
First thing I would do is gear up. Run some dungeons/fractals or farm.
Check out the achievements just to see whats out there to do such as jumping puzzles or world bosses.
Leveling an alt but not rushing through the game like I did my first time. Actually talking to NPCs, reading random stuff like tombstones/books, basically just taking in the world of Tyria.
WvW is something I find to be really enjoyable. Roaming around looking for people to fight, taking supply camps and what not. I find small fights to be a lot more enjoyable than running around with a big zerg.
There’s also mini-games like keg brawl or the new crab grabbing game they recently added.
Spvp is something I never really got into but that’s always an option.
Also don’t be afraid to take a break from the game.
People should play in order to enjoy the game NOT to maximize efficiency.(GW2 isn’t a job after all)
Oh the it’s not a job I don’t care about efficiency excuse. Efficiency isn’t exclusive to fun, and it’s built into gameplay whether you like it or not. Please don’t upgrade your gears to exotics or even rares, or take no trait points if you want to preach that idea.
I never said people shouldn’t play efficiently what I said was they shouldn’t try to maximize efficiency. There comes a point where trying to be more efficient detracts from enjoyment.
First off in GW2 skill(knowing what to do when and being able to execute) is a lot more important than gear. You can have the best gear in the game but if you cant dodge properly all those extra stats aren’t going to save you.
Secondly just being able to see a persons gear wont give you a good picture of what they are capable of without knowing their build. Most “elitist” are like sheep they don’t actually find out for themselves whats good or bad but base their opinions on what they have heard or read. They tend to think that only certain builds are good while other non-conventional builds suck despite not having tried them.
People should play in order to enjoy the game NOT to maximize efficiency.(GW2 isn’t a job after all)
Also there is such low variety in terms of gear. Pretty much only a few type of gear types, just lots of different skins. Having a way to link your stats instead of an /inspect would make a lot more sense. Sort of like how someone can link their gear and others can click on it and get a popup.
Based on my own experience many of these “elitist” are the ones that are running around doing dungeons in full Berserker gear needing to be babysat because they constantly go down due to the fact they having fully grasped how to dodge. Perhaps thats why they they are so insistent that people have good gear due to the fact they need to be carried through the dungeon.
I remember them saying that they would be “evaluating supporting DX 11 post-launch”. It’s been over half a year since the game launched.
So any news on the subject?
Similar to Pavlov’s dog, I need a reason to keep coming back… I just can’t find it in the current loot/reward system.
I think your mistaking Pavlov’s dog with Skinner’s birds. But if your playing a game to get loot instead of enjoyment then your better off not playing the game at all.
I don’t display a title. I think they’re lame, especially since there are so few titles that you see a bunch of people using the same ones.
I like Arenanet’s quick patches. Coming from Nexon games myself, Nexon would always put out a notice for a 1-5 hour maintenence and close down their game. Then after 5 hours, the game still wouldn’t start. 10 minutes after the maintenence was supposed to end, Nexon would put up a new announcement saying the maintenence has been extended for 1 hour. Then an hour later, they would extend it for another hour, and another, and another, and another. The longest time they’ve ever stringed us along like that was 48 hours. They had posted some 30 announcements saying “1 more hour.” It was terrible. I’ll take Anet any day over Nexon.
You do realize that Nexon is the largest shareholder of NCsoft right? They even forced Anet to hire Ex-Nexon employees.
Anyone else stuck at 99% with 1 file left?
I tried restarting the launcher but the last file still wont download.
Edit: It finally finished after leaving the launcher open for an extended period of time(over half an hour.) Not sure what the issue was but I’m positive it wasn’t on my end.

Dailies are just lazy/poor game design. Instead of creating worthwhile content for people to do everyday they came up with these menial tasks for people to do.
Essentially yes. The stones are one time use consumable. But you get so many of them just by playing the game (map completions, chests, personal story rewards).
until you get to 80 then they pretty much force you to buy fine transmute stones.
you can rediscover ones you’ve found before the monthly. or you can just use alts.
I hate both these skills. Sweet Revenge is just bad it never works when I need it to. And vengeance is only good if you can finish what you need to do before you go down again which happens very rarely.
I hate it as well. I don’t see how little yellow bubbles equates to rage.
Personally I have ignored Ascended. Not because I don’t agree with it, but because it isn’t in any way required to play any aspect of the game competently. A well geared toon is no sub for a skilled toon after all
LOL WHAT? I’m guessing you’ve never done fractals at a high level. Cuz I’d love to see how you would use skill to dodge the Jade Maw’s agony.
mail me all your stuff if your gonna quit. k thnx.
Its due, to the fact that there is no History of transactions in game like like there is on the AH of other games. Due to the lack of information manipulation becomes so much easier.
This is an interesting point. I haven’t played much WoW, and when I did, it was always a free trial (that ultimately bored me), so I never saw how the interface worked. The exchange on STO had no history that I ever found, but I never really got into trading on STO. But if only for my own curiosity, I’d love to see something like that in GW2. Admittedly, it does raise the personal skill requirements if the game doesn’t have that (you have to track prices yourself), and I’m never allowed to a system that allows the exceptional to shine (so long as it doesn’t allow them to hurt others in doing so… unless, of course, the game is about that) but I’m lazy. I’d rather they did it for me. :p
There are websites that help with this kind of thing. Gw2spidy.com guildwarstrade.com and others like tpcalc.com is really helpful as well. if your on them enough you can actually see the price manipulation happening in real time.
is it that wow/rift etc have auction houses per server and this game has a global one the fact that manipulation is more prevalent?
Its due, to the fact that there is no History of transactions in game like like there is on the AH of other games. Due to the lack of information manipulation becomes so much easier.
No. Just…no. Manipulating the market to make money is completely legitimate and has nothing to do with cartel like behavior. Everyone has the opportunity to do this, if you don’t take advantage of it, that is your own problem. Don’t hate the player, hate the game.
The people salvaging those snowflakes were “just playing the game” as well. Based on the fact that those people got banned for “damaging the economy” Market manipulators should be banned as well.
WvW is considered PvE in this game.
