Does /stuck and not moving works ?

Yes, you can also relog but it’s still pretty detrimental. With /stuck you also have to stay out of combat and completely still for 30 seconds.

Suggestion: Dervish

The GW1 dervish won’t ever come to GW2 as it is too Human God focused. The mechanics, to an extent have been worked into current GW2 classes, can’t think of which, but unless they changed the lore behind the dervish (would kitten a lot of people off most likely) the class won’t make it into game.

I don’t think that’s necessarily the case. Traditions can be adopted by other cultures and evolve as time goes on. I think they’ve said that divine magic is based on belief in general rather than a specific god or set of gods. Although, a Norn channeling an Avatar of Owl does sound pretty funny. As a lore enthusiast, I think they could handle it well enough without changing the lore behind the dervish, it’s been 250 years and Elona’s changed a lot since then.

As for the mechanics, I don’t see that they’ve really been worked well into other classes, that’s part of the reason I made the post.

Suggestion: Dervish

Not sure if this is the right place to post this…

I’d like to see dervish make a return and it doesn’t seem all that likely, but I thought a neat way to see it make a comeback in GW2 would be as an elementalist elite spec. Since we aren’t likely to see scythes added as a new weapon type, it could modify staffs. Either it would replace the staff skills with the elite spec equipped or operate as a weapon swap to melee skills since ele doesn’t have a weapon swap anyway. With the “scythe” equipped, the staff would have a blade of the currently attuned element similar to the necro staff 1 animation except with fire/electricity/ice/rock. Or if modifying the staff doesn’t really work, it could simply replace your weapons on weapon swap with a fully elemental scythe kind of like reaper shroud.

Avatars are big part of the dervish but humans already have the racial skills and it doesn’t really fit with the other races so avatars could be worked into the class mechanic using elements instead of gods, like an avatar of fire/air/earth/water. You could charge up an element to unleash the avatar to gain bonuses or modify skills. It could be coupled with the scythe mode.

For utility skills dervishes key skills were enchantments. A new type of skills that were a mix of glyphs and signets would be neat. They could provide passive bonuses until you tore them down to provide an effect based on your element/avatar/if you were in scythe mode.

What does everyone else think about the potential for getting a dervish elite spec? Other ideas? Suggestions?

This problem started about a week or two ago. Going from the launcher to the game takes well over a minute when I start up GW2. The launcher comes up immediately but once I hit “Play” the launcher goes away and nothing comes up for a very long time where it used to take only seconds. Anyone know what might be causing this / what diagnostics to run / what to look for?

I’m interested in all aspects of the game and am on the Yak’s Bend server for WvW, so if the guild is there it would be a plus.

It’s entirely up to ArenaNet if they are saved or not. Not everything is simply reset; they have control over it.

They don’t make decisions in a vacuum though, they want to make decisions that players will appreciate.

Considering they didn’t simply make these achievements worth 0 points, they probably will stick. It’s just another reason to participate. However, since they do reward mastery points, that part will definitely be reset, so they may simply reset it all.

Personally, I’d rather see it saved simply for the I was there under the account’s history, like all the other lost achievements. Don’t care if it’s even worth anything.

Just because their not 0 doesn’t mean they’ll stick, we don’t even know if they have a system in place to carry them over between the beta and normal accounts. I’ve never put much stock in the “I was there” stuff, as long as you experience the content.

Why not? All new players are heavily punished by the loss of all the temporary achievements. They’re never coming back.

Huh? Who says their never coming back, a lot of the holiday achievements come back and we may get another shot at the LW season 1 achievements when they release that content again.

Personally, I hope that all historical achievements are available again, no matter how many points their worth. I’m kind of a completion and love the idea that I will eventually be able to get all of the achievements (probably 3 years after GW3 is released :P). The only achievements that aren’t coming back for sure are the retired ones, which should not count toward the total if they decide to leave them in at all.

I am able to get them but don’t like the idea of permanently missable achievements (I’m hoping the living world season 1 stuff will come back when they release that). These beta achievements may just be for testing the HoT achievement system though, since beta characters are on a “cloned” account anyway.

Three legendaries?

in Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns

Kyban.4031

That has nothing to do with releasing an incomplete set being equal or not. The inequality here is the majority of weapons being left behind while a select few get new legendary options, regardless of how they are obtained. If anything, the new system for obtaining precursors being available to those select few exaggerates the inequality even further.

Yeah, the heavy reliance on RNG for precursors sucks. And this is coming from someone that got 4 out 5 from the forge. The new system brings a non-RNG (hopefully, as we don’t know if the collection will have RNG drops or not) way to obtain them, which is great. But it’s not great that so many will have to wait a lot longer for it.

I believe the old ones will be getting the precursor collection treatment as well.

I keep seeing people posting how this game is a trailblazer and I have to point out some facts for them because this isn’t anything new we’re seeing here.

Recently it was revealed the newest addition to the masteries line-up to be the dragon hunter. Now what I found most troubling about it wasn’t what it was called it was that once again we’re seeing a trend that already exists in mmo game development regarding a type of combat. Crowd Control. CC has been nerfed since Nov 2012 in this game and it’s directly affected many of the classes that relied on CC for years now, yet instead of fixing one of the most major problems with combat in the game they turned it into a “feature” of the expansion.

Several games out there including the elephant in the room have used this method to sell their expansions, this is nothing new. It’s really a bad development move too if they decide not to make any other changes to the combat prior to the expansion releasing because combat is extremely important in an mmo and to take something that shouldn’t have been nerfed in PVE and put it in as a new “feature” when there is plenty of room to fix what’s already been broken is not a very honest thing to do.

As always I’ll be watching closely.

Ummm, they said they’re making changes to CC and introducing a lot of other features prior to the expansion…apparently you’re not watching closely enough. If it’s not in the Heart of the Maguuma or Elite Specializations it’s most likely not tied to the expansion. Not sure about the core masteries though…

My thoughts on a tradition would be that it predates the elder dragons, there are other dragons though outside of Cantha they are usually called drakes. I thought it would also fit well with bone dragons because the divine beats undead theme. Perhaps some Shining Blade stayed in the jungle or something, we don’t have access to the Henge of Denravi yet do we? That seems like something that we’ll probably come across in the expansion.

Edit: We do have access to the Henge but there might be other Shining Blade camps out there…

I don’t think we know enough to completely judge the name yet, though personally I don’t have a problem with it. It might describe the class better than we think, it clearly has hunter aspects with the bow/traps/etc but with an elite called Dragon Maw it sounds like it might have dragon inspired aspects. We also don’t know anything about the lore, though there have been Bone Dragons in the Maguuma Jungle so perhaps there is a tradition of dragon hunting there that refers to a different type of dragon than everyone is assuming.

Maybe they can teach the necromancer or elementalist. The only race that I can think of that deals with anything related to time would be the Seers, since seeing is kind of time related. Still not sure why they’re called Seers though, they didn’t do much seeing, the Flameseeker prophet was Glint…

Necromancers will be learning from Marjory. Seers, despite their names, are not soothsayers – or at least, have never been seen doing such.

Had this on another thread, but I’m wondering if there’s an element of Glint in the Dragonhunter’s theme. But, to call it something like Dragon Knight would be skewed, since it could indicating following dragons.

I think Anet knew what they were doing when they called it a Dragonhunter and people will get used to it. I doubt they’d make it Glint themed though, that would intrude on Revenant territory.

The french version calls it the “Draconier”, which is kinda related to dragons, but it doesn’t actually have the word “dragon” in it. I like it much better
Also, why call it a Dragonhunter anyways? Chronomancer utilizes time as a mechanic, guardians specialize in defending and necromancers summon the dead. Does this mean that Dragonhunters will forever hunt dragons? It doesn’t explain their mechanics at all.
Hunter I can agree with, the dragon, no.

The dragonhunter’s actives are more offensive and no longer spread the boons and such around so support builds that depend on them won’t work with the specialization.

its definitely not the stone from the fire islands because there are no recorded expeditions there since the events of prophecies, proably a few fishermen or canthan refugees getting shipwrecked and dying soon after but no major forays into the lands due to their extremely inhospitable nature. Which is why its such a big deal that Rytlock has Sohothin, no one knows how he could possibly have gotten it since by all rights it should be encased in volcanic rock along with Rurik’s corpse

Check out my earlier post, most people seem to think it’s a flat stone standing on its side but it’s not. I’d like to hear what the devs said about it if anyone can find the interview they mentioned it in, I think we’re looking the wrong places for it.

As for Sohothin, it’s a powerful Orrian artifact similar to the Scepter of Orr, perhaps it magiced itself out of there like the scepter did…

I think the biggest problem with many of the names suggested are that they are too defensive. The plot right now is about going to get Mordremoth where he lives and the spec is supposed to give guardians a more offensive option. Can we think of anything more aggressively named while honoring the rangery feel of the spec? I don’t think Dragonhunter is too bad but maybe Dragonslayer, Dragonbane, or Dragoon? Executioner, Scourge, or Wrath sound cool but might be a little too dark for a guardian. Banisher?

Trying to think of a case of why not to use one so far.

(I checked to see if there was a thread on this, surprisingly I can’t find one!)

I think so, the key is in the title. They’re supposed to be specializations, they won’t fit every build and they do replace things. For example, the active effects for guardians are replaced on the dragonhunter so you can’t support your team in the same way by spreading those virtues. I’m not sure if mesmers lose anything but perhaps they will be getting a generic F5 that will be replaced by the chronomancer and just because they gain something doesn’t mean that something will be more meaningful for all builds than not taking the specialization.

I think the name is okay but it doesn’t quite sound as epic as it could be. Most people also seem to forget that there are a lot more dragons in Tyria than the elder dragons, even in the Maguuma Jungle there are bone dragons in GW and we aren’t sure what they were when they were alive. Typically dragons outside of Cantha are referred to as drakes though.

As for it’s name perhaps Dragoon or Dragonslayer would have been cooler but I can see why they would go with Dragonhunter since it has a longbow. It does kind of remind me of the old english myths or something like Saint George and fits the guardian theme that way. Lorewise I’m glad they didn’t go with Paragon without a justification.

We can’t rule out that it was brought from somewhere else or was found as is but the design appears to be of recent Krytan orgin, sorry folks.

The inventory definitely seems a bit clunky at times and more options never hurt anyone (discounting the headaches they give the devs, sorry!)

The salvage kit should go back to salvage mode after rare/exo prompt and maybe the kit itself could have a right click option “Suppress rares warning” so that specific chain of salvages would not prompt you.

I’d also like to have a “Use Stack” under the right click options so we don’t have to click up to 250 times on things like luck, even when it’s been promoted/condensed it’s still a ton of clicking. Bags could have an “Open Stack” that would open bags until your inventory was full (Or maybe one slot less than full).

I also like the idea of being able to “Favorite” items that you want to keep.
