I agree with this. I would also like to add, that having an option to lock my skills (so I don’t have the little arrow in the top of the skill to change the utility skill) would be a great option too. There have been many times that I have accidentally clicked the arrow and changed the skill instead of activating the skill.
Are these just re-skinned quaggan models too?
I think this will pretty much play out as you describe as well.
Maybe would have been a better aesthetic choice to put rocks or plant growth in the way instead of metal grating though.
Ah OK great. Hadn’t seen anything about it. Thanks for pointing out they had commented on it.
So at the bottom of Whorl Lagoon is man-made (or norn-made, etc) grating, with hot water flowing throw it. Is there potential lore behind this? Or was it more of a , we don’t want player characters swimming in here?
Thoughts?
Was this on Tuesday this week? Wintersday just started and is likely pulling more people to use Divinity’s Reach as a hub city right now.
Thanks Max. Good to know.
Fair enough. I just have bloodstone on the brain due to the heavy emphasis on it so far in season 3. It was the first thing I thought of.
Anyone see any dialogue or explanation for the bloodstone rocks jutting out of the walls in the grawl cave in the new area? Particularly near the Jora statue. Anyone find an in game explanation for this?
Otherwise, any theories?
One final confusion for me on this topic. Beyond the story, why do I need cold resistance (AKA thaw elixir) aside from the daily achievement? Why do I need to go up to the cold area? Are there events up there? I didn’t see any. Just wondering what the point is.
I have a related question. I went to make the elixir for the second time. Got all the suet, egg shells, and berries. Remembered I needed the ice shards, twigs, and feathers to trade the grawl for the firestone. Went to go get firestone, but couldn’t find any way to construct their shrine. I noticed the heart vendor had firestones for karma.
Are firestones only available for karma at this point? Or am I missing something?
If it is only available via karma, then why have permanent nodes for ice shards and twigs for a single use during the story? Seems silly. That’s why I’m hoping I’m missing something.
Yeah, agreed. Just information that it exists in the story unlock sounds good to me.
Ah, so it didn’t autoselect it and start leveling it up when it became a thing? I feel like it could have been leveled up by now just doing what I’ve already done. Slightly annoying that the update didn’t point it out to you that it was added to an existing mastery line.
I only played a bit yesterday, focusing on the story, so I’m sure I could figure this out eventually. But, how do you start the new Koda’s flame mastery?
The first skill “Sprint” still says “unlock Koda’s flame mastery”. I know the other 4 skills are purchasable with unbound magic. My question is how do you start it?
I assume I missed something.
Good points. Thanks both of you.
A few related questions and points here. Likely unpopular on one count and maybe supported on my other related suggestion.
1. When in Bloodstone Fen, and Jades come up, everyone yells to come do Jades. Which is fine. Map co-operation is great. What miffs me, is yelling at people not to do the Hab pre, or even Hab himself until after Jades. I get it, he spawns every 30 min and you want Jades AND Hab. But there are people on the map who only want the dailies, and Hab is part of that. If a small group wants to do the Hab pre, and Hab, then this should not be as frowned upon as it is right now. Thoughts?
2. On a related note. Why is the daily always Hablion? Couldn’t they make it rotating between Jades, Bloodstone Elemental, and Hablion? A small but welcome change in my opinion.
I checked back later and Jett gave it to me. Gator must be right, and he only offers it at a certain point in the quest string. Thanks for the input guys.
I just ran into an “interesting” issue doing the HOPE IV collection. One section of this collection requires you to activate the M-PEC device previous to defeating certain foes.
My M-PEC turned into a “burned out M-PEC”. I looked on the wiki and it said if it burns out, Jett in Auric Basin can give you a new one. I went and talked to him and he doesn’t give me the option to get a new one.
I still need 2 items that require the M-PEC’s use, so I’m kinda stuck. Is this a bug or am I missing something?
Thanks for the help in advance.
Wow, I never considered that they were actually gold and it was just the red sky masking the true color. I’ll have to head back up top to take a closer look as you said Konig.
Since we only really know the location of 3 of the bloodstones (Maguuma, in the Ettin cave somewhere near sparkfly fen as seen in GW1, and Abbadon’s Mouth), do you think the other direction could be one of the other 2 stones?
Edwin, good point, I hadn’t thought of that.
Any theories as to the 2 red swirling vortexes of energy (slightly resembling ley energy) flowing into the Destruction’s Maw Volcano in Ember Bay are? They seem to be coming from the East and the West of the Islands.
And where are they flowing to? Primordus?
I think a certain level of chilling out may be required until we end this story arch. Getting stressed out about things that seem wrong or seem like they could be biased or could be retcons, etc etc before the story is over is exhausting and not worth it.
Thank you Musashi. I feel better knowing that at least one other was put off by this. A tad surprised that I only have 1 neigh sayer, 1 in agreeance and everyone else ignored the thread. Oh well.
Read my last paragraph again, and respond accordingly. Patch notes don’t equal story recap. That’s what the release page is for.
“After memorializing Eir, the commander returned to Rata Novus to discover that Taimi had been hard at work digging into dragon research and performing an “interesting” experiment on a chak organ. The commander then left to meet Canach in the northern Maguuma jungle and hunt down the human minister Caudecus, who had escaped from the queen’s protective custody. Upon arriving on the scene, they were greeted with a violent explosion of one of the Bloodstones—which curiously reversed itself before taking them with it. While the commander worked to track down the culprit, Minister Caudecus revealed himself as the leader of the nefarious White Mantle, but his plans for the organization were thrown into disarray when a mursaat called Lazarus reappeared and accused him of being a heretic. The two rivals escaped, leaving only a cloud of speculation that it may have been Lazarus who soaked up the Bloodstone’s power. And the tumult on Tyria burns even hotter with the discovery that Primordus, the fire dragon, is stirring once again. Will we be consumed by the flames?”
I mean, putting that in the Rising flames release page is OK, but a bit too detailed imo. But putting it in the patch notes? What if someone has been away and hasn’t played bloodstone fen at all yet, and just went to read patch notes on balance, fractals, or pvp, and they see this?
Anyone else agree?
Well darn, would have been cool. Thanks for the info guys.
Does the new bubble glider still show the bubble when using a tonic?
For example, when using a quaggan tonic, the normal glider is invisible when gliding. I am hoping I can be a quaggan and be in a bubble and glide. Can anyone confirm this?
Don’t forget the 64 bit client which is still in “beta”, which is the only solution they have for RAM crashes, and isn’t usable with people using 32-bit processors………..
My 2 cents is having an easier version, with the sole purpose of doing it to experience the story and lore, and providing 0 rewards, would be fine and a good idea.
To be fair, the information on who drops this spoon is a bit spotty and contradictory on the internet.
What I do know:
1. It drops in WvW
2. This may or may not include Edge of the Mists
3. This may be only select mobs in Edge of the Mists
4. Normal WvW is rather dead (other than Eternal Battlegrounds) right now
SO, if I CAN get it from EotM, then I would prefer to, I just don’t want it to be a waste of my time.
Can anyone confirm any drops of this spoon RECENTLY from EotM? Or am I better off staying in EB?
Not everyone bought HOT. Adding it to the dailies would disadvantage some of the player base.
By your logic, adding gliding in core Tyria should never be done because it would “disadvantage” some of the player base, so obviously they would never do that…..oh wait.
Also, this “disadvantaged player base” sure is going to feel glum when Living story 3 comes around and is locked to them as an expansion only series of events.
Basically, I agree completely with the OP, adding this would be great and does no harm to anyone else.
I’m not asking that they do anything. It’s their company. I was just asking if anyone else had the same feelings I did.
So to summarize, that’s 2 no’s
At the risk of sounding like a grumper Mcgrumperstein:
Does anyone else get on the GW home page, see a new update for the day’s date, get momentarily excited, but then just find out its either a Guild Chat, Pro League, or Gem Store post, and immediately become disappointed?
Also, sorry for double forum post, the website was wigging out when I hit submit
My girlfriend discovered the orca version of the endless quaggan tonics yesterday, and was absolutely tickled pink (she’s a huge Orca fan).
The gliding was especially amusing for me (the quaggan flails its arms wildly and no glider is shown at all).
One thing that was mildly disappointing was using the tonic while swimming. While the back fin kicking motions looks natural and fluent, the inability to jump out of the water (like an orca or dolphin would) kind of kills some of the fun that might be had while swimming.
Now I know it is unlikely Anet will spend resources to add this in the future, but still thought it was worth posting as a comment and suggestion.
Experiencing the same problem here. Likely an issue on Anet’s end
Clearly he had some “Golden Globe” revive orbs in his satchel to help with the multiple bear downing, as seen from his appearances on TV last night :-)
What elite spec is that? He can use rifle!!!
That’s not a real Rifle. It’s an environmental weapon from Township of Claypool. He was doing the “Hold, Hold, Hold, Fire!” Heart event.
I laughed pretty hard at this one.
Also, what legend do you think he channels?
The legend of Oscar… loool
Is that a Power or a Condi build lol?

Additional info: I am running 64-bit Windows 10, normal 32-bit GW2 client, and have 16 GB RAM installed
And upon reviewing them, yes, all of them were OOM crashes. Followup question:
I was under the impression that these crashes happened when you approach 4 GB (or in actuality between 3-4 GB) of RAM usage on the 32-bit client.
In my crash logs, I have the following values listed:
OOM: Heap, bytes=2097200
OOM: Heap, bytes=40759364
OOM: Heap, bytes=5739892
OOM: Heap, bytes=8389088
Why so different from each other? And why are 2 of them so much greater than 4 GB?
OK thanks Healix
I’ve been experiencing crashes while in the HoT maps (running the 32-bit client) and have read all of the posts I could find on it, and know all about the 64-bit client beta, etc.
My question is simply this: how do I know that the crashes I am seeing are indeed OOM crashes, and not attributed to a different reason?
The crashes I see, are usually during meta events and the game crashes (closes) and I’m back at my desktop with a dialogue box from GW2 telling me the game crashed and to submit information about what I was doing at the time of the crash. Does this box have an option to show you why it crashed (details)? Or is there some other way to see why?
Thanks to anyone that can shed some light onto this :-)
Ah ok. My estimation for how far that map showed northward was a bit off then. I think I agree with you Konig on the Exalted outposts. That one dot to the NW that you mentioned is a bit of a mystery still :-) . Thanks for the insight.
Yes, that first picture is the one I’m referring to. I hadn’t thought about the chantry globe either, interesting.
I’ve poked around a bit on the forums and the internet in general and can’t find much discussion on this.
The map on the stone wall, in the room where you use saurian bones as conductors to start the machine back up, that shows leyline energy concentrations. Firstly, anyone have a nice zoomed in screenshot of that to share? Secondly, we know that one point is Tarir, and one point is Mordy, and one point is Rata Novus, but what about the others? Has anyone taken the time to do an analysis on their physical location on the main map and what they may be (bloodstone for one of them??)?
Any insight into this would be great, as I am very curious about it.
