Winstreak reward should be scrapped from the system.
It doesn’t reward skill at all, it just rewards the “luck of the draw”. It’s the most idiotic thing in this season.
16 wins in a row and counting is a bit beyond luck I think. Elsewise I ought to buy a lottery ticket.
What’s not very smart about the matchmaking is that it will form a team around similar MMR’s and yet, match you against any MMR in the pip range. It’s not “Hey, this person is really good, let’s put him on team A.” Then, “this person is second best let’s balance it and put him on team B”. It’s let’s take all the good and put them here and the bad there and make them fight each other for lulz.
Well that explains a lot. That basicly forces me to tank mmr to get “normal” matches or keep playing and hope Ruby or Diamond gets more challanging.

I am now 2 wins from Sapphire and still havn’t lost a match yet. I can’t bother playing beyond the 3 daily matches untill I can start the part IV achievements

Yeah I get that thats your go to opinion about this. But its not winning, its winning BY A LANDSLIDE, ALL THE TIME.

One thing to keep in mind is that a lot of people don’t play seriously anymore. They also run a lot of weird builds. That may or may not effect your match making.

I have yet to run any build that isn’t too far off the meta, but I know plenty of people who are running them, specially in groups. In fact, I came across 2 full premades of 5 that were mostly trying out new builds, including, for both of them, 2 fresh air eles (which were, as expected, totally UP and blew in 2 seconds without accomplishing much).
Im sure this will skew the data, perhaps we should give it more time for the meta to settle a bit?

There used to be a recipe for the pvp legendary backpack: The Ascension. But for some reason it’s no longer at the wiki, reddit, or google in general.
What happend to it? Is there going to be a remake for it since people cheesed their way to legend or something?
Vote to kick yes, but the player who joins should be unable to lose pips.
I tried every Textile and BBCode formatting option for tables that I knew and that I could find. Nothing worked. If someone can tell me how to insert a table, I would gladly edit it.
You can’t and I think you did the best posible job you could with the limited tools at your disposal.

Yeah 1 dc and 1 guy who tried to relog from necro to mesmer and he never showed up again. Same principle.
Ive been walking around with this exact issue in my mind for a while. Perfect write up, though the cc table is a bit messy to read.
There is already a DR system inplace in this game. (at least when it comes to fear, I havn’t realy noticed it on any other cc, wich should say enough.) It’s clearly not working well enough, and the hard cc chains are on passives and aoe that are ruining the game. Same goes for heavy condition builds with lots of verry strong aoe.

Was at 2 pips till diamond, got some afkers in a row and now back at tier 5. Im giving up.
Ran into a team once that had 2 mesmers syncing their split so our entire team got lifted into 4 gravity wells while the rest of their team applied stupid aoe condition and stripped from stability by necro aoe boonstrip + rev boon strip.
With this ballance, 2 mesmer 1 necro 1 rev on mid = gg everytime.
Just report him + screenshot ingame.
Anet does NOTHING with reports, at all. You can see if people are online in your blocklist, they never disapear ofline.
“Ill go afk so you lose a pip, Im already diamond so I dont care” – Rifle warrior in my team as soon as he died on mid in 5 seconds of the match.
Can you please make it so diamond and ruby players never get matched in the same team? They have no hope of getting to legend so they just kitten around and give kittent all if they lose.
That first qoute is one of many times I lost to random crap like that and it gets me stuck in the last 1-2 tiers of ruby forever.
This has been adressed in last weeks balance patch anouncemend. It will be fixed via making the highest division count for all party members e.g. diamond and amber counts as double diamond starting tomorow I think.

I have played against you so many times, there is a reason youre stuck in ruby mate. I get that you want to gain a bigger streaming audience (you anounce you stream before every match starts) but stpo agressivly forcing yourself on people with false statements.
Great to finally hear something from you guys! Sounds promissing. Im verry excited for the win streaks, as it works great in Hearthstone. I would also suggest there is a sort of pre-season where you can get an MMR and/or division rating that already places you more or less in the division you belong to prevent the “volatile” opening of the season. Or let’s say at a maximum of saphire. So low in amber, medium in emerald and high end players in saphire when the season starts. (But you would still have to earn that spot via the pre-season).
Solo players each have a Glicko rating and a ladder position. Both are updated at the end of a match based on the results and values of the other team. .
This explains so much. I always wondered why a team would absolutly crush us, then let us come back a lot and then beat us. Because it gets updated based on results you simply let it be a close win, so your MMR doesn’t skyrocket and you can keep beating lower MMR players easy mode. Is this true?
I must be in the minority here. I don’t see what is wrong with this particular match up.
They are assuming that the red team is intentionally attempting to game the system by inviting an amber ranked player to group with 4 high ranked players. The issue being that there are 2 legendary ranked players in that group, which (theoretically speaking) shouldn’t end up matched against an all ruby opponent team.
Well, you have two full pre-mades against each other. Two legendary players, who are already in legendary so they are not gaining much from being grouped with the lower tiered player.
Prestiging legendary ranks to cheat the leaderboards.
If they fixed this those people would not spend time playing this game, at that means lesser players playing the game.
People contintue to play a game while they can abuse certain flaws.

I’m posting here to have your thoughts on a few things.
I’m a thief main in PvP and I play only Thief in ranked.
I created my build on my own and I’m in emerald 4th stage ( I started rankeds yesterday , so I’m doing good), but I’m having a few problems that are disgusting me from PvP.
First one is the fact that Thief is rejected from PvP. It’s not rare for me to get flamed or seeing a “… thief -.-” before the game even begins.Let’s face it, we have the exact same builds, every single game, no matter what, it’s EXTREMELY rare that someone plays something else than a copy pasted metabattle build. Not only the builds are completely broken but they don’t reflect AT ALL the player’s level of skill ( DH, tanky ele ), but people insult you when you’re not playing a metabattle build. The worst is that I get insulted a lot by ennemies for being a " kittenn condi thief ", while they play DH or bunker Mesmer, the community is extremely toxic.
Also, I see everybody crying about " the meta " but 99% of players actually play it, so I don’t get the fact you’re mad at something and you still play it, players choose to make the game boring and then cry about the fact they’re bored.
Do you guys play Thief in PvP sometimes ? Do you think choices of builds should be removed from the game as everyone always plays the exact same thing, going from the same trait to the same runes and sigils ? Why are some traits really bad and some are really good, in the same tree ? Is ArenaNet forcing us to play one kind of thing, like in League Of Legends ? Do you think it is possible to get to a high rank by playing Thief ? Is it even worth to report someone who’s insulting you ?

I really enjoy crafting builds. But here is the thing, the current system to make builds is so stupidly simplyfied that there are only realy 3 themes you can make a build, and those are support, condi or power. Now you can create many builds around these themes but in the end there is going to be one build “best at” the theme it was made for. That build then becomes the standart for that role.
Now compile all of the “best at” builds and the best of those become meta builds and are copy pasted all over build share sites like metabattle.
I have made a reaper build that kinda beats most of the bunker meta builds right now, but “focus the necro” makes the class to anoying to play so I dont bother with it. I also play thief (class achievements) and let me tell you, the shear amount of hate you get is so bad I dont even dare to play a warrior….
Oh and no, reporting has no effect at all. I add every single person I report to the block list (you can see if they are online or not there) and no one ever got a ban, at all. Thats reports for afking, heavy verbal abuse, lfg system abuse. I once had a guy harras me so horribly I had to go offline for a while cus I was done dealing with those sort of people. Now if a person straight up curses at you for a while, then treathens you, your life, then tells you to kill yourself several times. And they don’t get banned for verbal abuse? Clearly nobody is doing anything with reports and it’s probly just a placebo mechanism put in the game to keep peoples minds quiet.

If you win a couple of games your MMR starts to spike, but not high enough to be grouped with higher MMR players, insted, the game wants you to carry low MMR players in your division because they need to be carried to advance. This usualy results in a loss because 1 player can’t carry a whole team. For some reason you get punished by this loss with a low MMR spike, grouping you with low MMR players the next couple of matches causing more losses, thus lowering your MMR. This loop continues untill you lost all your pips and then some, and then the game thinks your the one that needs to get carried so you get high MMR player to carry you, you start winning a couple of matches again, and then see beginning of this post. I’ve gone trough this cycle a couple of times now and I don’t care about winning anymore, just having fun with weird builds Ive made up to see if they work.
Ive lost 2 pips because of this several times. Nothing you can do about the, the devs dont read this, just the forum mods to make sure you dont cross their line. Move on.

DC aren’t supposed to affect your pip gain/loss, are they ?
It has been stated that they are, and it makes sense that they do.
It shouln’t affect it, otherwise it would be too easy to abuse.
DC’s don’t happen that often, when it does you just have to suck it up.
There’s not a single competitive game that has a system against dc, and it’s because there can’t be one that wouldn’t be abused easily.
except for the 4-5 times I lost 2 pips because one of our guys never connected, even had a 2 pip loss with 4 solo queuers (and a full time dc) vs a 5 man premade and the score diffrence wasnt even that big.

So I just came across a system abuse team (1 amber with 2 diamonds and a ruby) vs my team (3 solo queue ruby and 2 duo ruby) and because one of the duo queuers * ON MY TEAM* didn’t connect, at all, during the match… we ofcourse lost, and I lost 2 pips…

People argument against mounts because we have waypoints. Mounts should be rewarded AFTER 100% map completion so that A: people do the map completion and B: if you make an alt you don’t have to go trough the painstakingly slow progress of walking around the entire world again.
You’r telling us that everyone was using pure bunker builds, making the first that conquered a point holding it for all the match without a chance to be re-conquered?
In that case, yes, the meta is a bunker meta.Or that you find a team where everyone chose to go afk why the enemy team was so strong that yours was unable to win at all against them?
Bunker meta, if it were the latter I would have not posted about it cus kitten happens, or I would have said MY team insted of EVERYONE.
So I just had a match were everyone decided to afk at the points and wait for the game to be over because nobody was able to kill eachother… Not in ESL, in ruby/saphire solo queue….

I played for a while at druid in different builds, also in metabattle ones, that have minimum difference.

You want the direct opposite of what this game was ment to be, and the reason most players play it.
If the PvP reward track is the most profitable method, its kinda hilarious.
Nothing against the pvp reward track, but it isn’t even a Wintersday activity.It’s really not.
Winning a hotjoin, or losing an unranked/ranked match gives you 500 points (assuming the game lasted at least 7 minutes, you get less points if the game ends sooner than that), so it takes 1.5 hours to get through two tiers that way; if you look at the 2015 reward track that’s 31 gifts for the first 1.5 hours, another 32 gifts for the next 1.5 hours, 53 after that, and 160 when you finally reach the end of the track for a grand total of 276 gifts.
That’s a minimum of 6 hours for 276 gifts, 4 if you pop a PvP reward booster.
You can cut the time by a third if you manage to win every unranked/ranked match, but that’s still 1.3~2 hours for 276 gifts; you’re obviously not going to win every match though, so it’ll be more like 2~3 hours.
Conversely someone who’s good at the JP can complete 12~16 jumps in half an hour, so by the first hour they’d already be sitting on 240~320 gifts (plus another 3~6 personalized gifts for completing the JP 15 times), in the second hour they’ve already left the best PvP player behind with 489~652 gifts.
The sole exception to this is if the PvP player spent 2~3 months saving the potions they get from PvP dailies, in which case they’ll be able to instantly complete the Wintersday Reward Track 45 times to get all the gifts they need for 10k drinks. That information is useless to you unless you have a time machine, of course.
I saved all the pvp potions for about half a year to prepare for HoT. I had ~400 potions and it got me 5 reward tracks (the 4 HoT ones and 1 halloween completion)
Oh, kitten , that’s right. 80 potions per track, 45 tracks, 3,600 potions, 6 potions a day, so saving for 20 months, not 2~3.

Asuming you dont forget to get the last 2 after the daily stops showing up on your screen after the first 4.

This is a kittening troll posts… thieves are useless as kitten unless youve spend 1-2000 hours mastering it.
So why are you running D/D? Assuming you aren’t camping stealth, D/P still has shadow shot and head shot which are both much better than dancing dagger and CnD. If you spam heartseeker as a gapcloser….
Also, this carries no weight vs players who know what they’re doing. IF you manage to instagib them, they’ll be more than prepared for your next assault. Then, judging from your ridiculous burst, they’ll know you’re squishy AF and would immediately have you begin a very intimate relationship with your spawn.
That being said, I sincerely doubt warriors are in any position to call ANYONE out on their class choice. At least thief can properly rotate :P.
Because CnD does more damage then heatshot into heartseeker for a backstab. D/P is great but simply lacks the damage potential you need to make a dent in the bullkitten builds everyone is running now cus they want legend so bad they just go with whats “meta”
You need to play this build as a point decapper and 1 upper. In teamfights just hang out at long distance, find somebody at half health and just drop them instantly, then gtfo cus for example 1 dh trap hit does 99,5% damage. (for real i got hit by one once and it set me at 14 health)
Thieves right now are at a point even warriors are complaining they have on in their team.
