Actually got to do what I wanted to do and that was rush in there without the mount and test out my rangers new spec. Actually enjoyed the spec this time, just picked random character and had at it. I did get disconnected several times during this though, but no problems with the processor heat. But I seemed to not die…I took on way more than I should have at a time and thought..this is it I’m a goner, nope I got back up. It was just one continuous fight with everything I could get my hands on, and showed me a lot about the elite spec that I did like.

GW2 never needed any of the mechanics, either, that were mentioned above: ley-lines, mushrooms, wallows, lava catapults, oakheart essences, and what not.

IMO, gliding and riding a mount of your choice would have sufficed.

Now the game is cramped with too many travel mechanics, and now they came up with a dozen mounts with different functionalities, which you will all need to be able to play through 100% of PoF’s content, which is no better (and no different!) than the insanity of HoT and LWS3.

You see, mounts per se are not the problem…

This! So much! Mounts are nothing new in many games, WoW did not originate mounts, or flying mounts for that matter either, they have been around since way back, nothing new with the addition of mounts themselves. But these are not really mounts, they are substitutes for previously used mechanics such as jumping mushrooms, Zepherite skills…skirting over water, over sand. Its not the mount that is the problem, its what it is being used as. No problem if you like the previous expansions ways of getting around and are willing to commit to slogging out mastery points again for each and every skill, like HoT’s masteries, only these are called mount masteries. And you won’t be able to experience all the areas without them, same as HoT.

I did love the mount, it felt realistic in the way that it moved around. It didn’t feel like an appendage to my character, it felt like as if I was riding around on an actual animal. I really did like the way the mount “felt”. The tail flail took a lot to figure out, maybe its just my high ping, high latency satellite internet connection though. Don’t care for Unidentified loot boxes at all for reasons others have covered extensively in other threads.

I don’t like mini games or adventures, I avoided them for HoT and I feel they might have a large part to play in masteries in PoF which is something that would bother me a lot. I do feel that the Zepherite skills from previous expansions that made Dry Top literally a place I would not go, are now being “reskinned” and classified under Mount skills. Say what you want, but they are very alike it seems. The more I played the demo, the more I realized that is the case.

I wanted to think with the PoF, it would be more like the GW2 I knew when the game started. I realize that my opinion is not the opinion of everyone, just everyone I know that watched me play this demo this weekend.

Many things used in PoF that were used in HoT that made me not want to play. Masteries locked behind mini games, needed for Zepherite type skills such as leaping, jumping, scooting across quick sand, shooting over water. Just a reskin called “mount” now. GW2 wasn’t always a platformer, but it is now. Its not for me. I’m glad you had the demo though, it helped with making the final decision about the expansion for me. I know others will like it, me not buying it is but a drop in the bucket and won’t make a blip on the radar screen if I don’t. Good luck with the expansion and I hope it goes well for you. Its been a great run for me, GW1 from 2005-GW2 2017. I had a great time, I really did, but a lady always knows when its time for her to leave. Thanks for the memories!

Right there with ya..I have a capped 50GB per month data plan, that’s the highest plan I can get. There’s 140 families out in this area that only have satellite for their internet, cable companies said sure we can come out there, but it will cost 400, 000, to take our cable five miles to where you are at, come up that, we will be there. So that is not an option, WiFi is available about 15 miles away, however, its not unlimited either. We have an additional 50GB (bonus they dare call it) between the hours of 2am and 8am per month. See if your internet provider is the same, and try to get the updates at night if so. That’s what I do, I get up around 3am and downloaded the data for the beta weekend. If you are not THAT interested in the expansion, don’t waste your data on the updates. If you are, download it, then buy the physical copy of the expansion, but be warned it too will need large downloads. Sucks when you have no option for unlimited data and I think people who do forget about those who don’t in rural areas such as mine.

Reading that there is no area like Verdant Brink makes me want to try out the demo. The very name Verdant Brink makes me cringe. I disliked HoT areas, since the day it started. If I never see another vertical area with no indication of what level the object I’m looking for is, that would make me very happy to continue playing. No more “mushroom pants”, no more updrafts, no more areas that I have to spend hours getting mastery points amassed just to get to the area I need to be in to continue the story based on vertical maps and grrr jumping mushrooms or some other gimmicky way of getting around is great. Its been several years of enjoyment for those who like that kind of thing but not for those who don’t. Mounts…well I’ll have to see more reviews to figure out whether or not they are just a substitute for jumping mushrooms, updrafts and the like before I buy this expansion at all. I’m not pre ordering this time like I did with HoT…I’ll wait and see. I’ve been with GW since GW1 beta. I barely played in HoT, I did not like it at all. This time, no preorder and it may be the end of my time playing GW2 at all if its anything like HoT. If you liked it, great but for me, I’m hopeful it won’t be a repeat of HoT.

“The events that have to fail to get other events to spawn is bad, bad, bad. Saidra’s Haven hidden event is impossible to do except on a nearly empty map. We just had the defend spawn and despite folk asking to let it fail so the Execute the Executioner event could pop some defended and basically said, “Hidden events are for nerds.” and proceeded the get the defend. It is a terrible conflict because folk are also there defending to get the heart open and get dailies so the achieve is nearly impossible unless you can get an empty map to do it in which I have yet to see.”

I was having a good time exploring the map, doing the hearts until apparently I accidentally stepped into someone’s “hidden event” party that I didn’t know anything about, got attacked by the ones they didn’t want anyone to kill so it will fail, even though they were killing me and I fought back, and was promptly called all kinds of names in caps about something I knew nothing about. Depending on events to fail for others to spawn didn’t work out well and still doesn’t in Orr so using the model again just is bad design. Needless to say, I just logged out and not going back again as who needs random name calling and caps, I might accidentally run into again that I don’t even know about just by doing what heart quest is there.

The “elixir” only lasts for a short time. “Cooking?” it in a large steam bath after collecting all sorts of stuff that clogs up my bags each and every time I want to go out there makes no sense at all. Sell it from a vendor. It doesn’t contribute to anything but annoyance in any way to have to do this over and over again. The artwork is great in this zone. Unfortunately, everything else in it isn’t. I won’t finish it. I love the story line and that is why I played but its not worth it, isn’t fun, and is a bunch of unnecessary frustration.

Yes!! Thank you for that. No diminishing rewards is awesome. As far as harder lab. bosses, well, it was really no challenge to have them go down that fast, so the challenge is back…so that’s a good thing.

It’s just normal.” Not always…and I’m fine with what I chose, its an expressed opinion, a personal slant on the story that I chose to incorporate into my game play. Yes, I thought about the priory but it seemed too “convenient” that they had someone in there that knew “all about this” and that I didn’t see before, that looked different for others on this forum AFTER they had made their choice(call me cynical and you would be right). And I am one for trying the opposite of what most would do. Given those things, I went with Consortium. I’m sure it will be interesting either way.

This isn’t hard..its just irritatingly dumb. The location where he just sits is meant to be an irritating climb…day after day, hour after hour…I wish I could just hit him with that apple and knock him down the cliff face to those Jade armors he seems to be the only one who can sit where they are and not get hit anyway. You like it? More power to you. I hate it. So I’ll miss another mastery point…keep em….if it means this type of thing you can have them. I’d rather NOT ever get that mastery point if it means doing this.

I’m just glad I know this now, I despise jumping puzzles. I don’t care if they are in the game as others like them and to each your own, but if Mursaat tokens are there, I’m going to quit collecting the others ones now and not waste my time because I’ll never see them all. If a mastery is up there, its going to have to stay up there as without porting and having “checkpoints” to achieve, it will be like the winter’s day one and all the other jumping puzzles in the game to me..never done. That kind of aggravation is not something I want to go through for anything. At least now I know to stop trying to find Mursaat tokens all over the new area as for me, it will be a waste of time to even go looking for them if the rest are on top of this “thing”.

Please fix it, that is the reason I use transmutation, too much “cow bell” on the glow of it. Love the glowing eyes but don’t like that it glows through the back of my head.

Discounted Black Lion chest keys, or like they used to be, dropping from bandits even for a limited time special event, instead of broken lockpicks that now drop from them in their stead.

Saw it in the water in Orr yesterday. Just standing there looking at me. I’ve seen it many times now in different areas. The “scream”..I was mining bloodstone crystals and landed on the very edge of an island to get one, a large Norn did the same. We stood there for a second after mining the node and both screamed at the same time. Tiny Asura scream, large Norn scream…and then laughed at each other and flew off. So it is pretty odd, entertaining, disconcerting but most of all, fun. edit to mention the other part…I asked him…“did you scream?” he said yes, he said “did you scream?” I said yes…another person that just landed said “ice cream” after seeing our conversation, and then flew off.

You miss my point entirely. My work exists because people have no control over themselves and my work also exists because I am one step ahead, and as I stated, no one can be everywhere at once. I can plainly see believe me, that people do not do what is right, but majority do keep their hands off what doesn’t belong to them, and if they don’t, that is where they screwed up, as usual. To blame the person this happened to is not what should be mentioned. People will make mistakes. All companies strive to avoid any malicious nasties before they happen, that is a given. Do they succeed at all times? No they do not. Perfection is not in it, it never will be. But as I stated, they will be caught, lessons learned, holes closed, that IS a given. But your expectations of perfection in preventing every attack is not feasible in any environment in today’s world. “if its not yours don’t touch it” is a principle that means if you do you will get caught. Its not my “principle” but a fact. But I will not come back to argue about this at all, its not worth it. Its under control, I’ve had my say defending Gaile, and I’m done here.

This happens in all industries everywhere. Years ago, when the internet and all this was new and this began to happen, it irritated me so much that I took it upon myself to enter the server security field and dedicate my career to beating those at their own game. I’ve seen every “excuse” in the book, I’ve seen just about every way of doing this..nothing changes the fact that wrong is wrong….socially inept vigilantism is the most cringe worthy excuse I’ve seen for those examples. Odd, you could have just applied a simple principle everyone learned in Kindergarten…“if its not yours don’t touch it”

Bottom line is, this is something that will continue to happen in small percentages, this is a constant vigilance that needs to be maintain and is, accessing accounts for any reason is wrong, damaging, and the consequences should be severe for each and every person that not only did the account compromise but those who participated in knowing it was being done and doing nothing about it. They are the future ones who have obviously made their viewpoint on account compromise known as acceptable so are a danger as well.

Last thing….and most important. People are people, not computers, they are not perfect, that is exactly why procedures and protections are put into place in the first place. Mistakes will be made…its the nature of the business, the people business that make it so unpredictable. Every angle, every step, one step ahead at all times is an unacceptable expectation, its not possible. 20 years experience says its not physically possible. Do not blame the victim, blame the “kitten” who took it upon themselves to do this.

Not to worry though, they will be found, the hole they crawled in on will be not only closed but vigilantly watched from this point forward. Each time, the holes close tighter and tighter. People like me, and others, laugh in your face when we close your spider holes, another pest eliminated, crying and denouncing us and our procedures all the way. “If its not yours, don’t touch it.”

“Don’t cross the streams” that was great. I just got the new skill…whooo look at me flying fast like ley lines but without them(spam F5)…whooo…???? I died? what? how? who shot me down? Wait what..?? Achievement? “Don’t cross the Streams” I laughed so hard. I love the hidden ones so much.

Thanks Gaile. She made a “tree lady” she called her, a sylvari, the only thing she did with her at the time was dance her around the fountain in Lion’s Arch and tried to do the same in the apt…it was so much fun she said, I said "its not all about dancing Mom…she said “oh yes it is”. I should have kept the character but I wasn’t able to do it, she named it after herself. I’ll dance my sylvari around the fountain sometimes even though its now a different city, imagining those times and yes its all about dancing.

I thought this was a wonderful addition. While not a gamer, two weeks before the initial start of GW2, my mother, knowing I loved GW1, bought the game for me and gave it to me, out of the blue, not for a specific reason. I played early release, showed her, tried to show her how to play. She laughed and tried to play, I laughed and tried to show her how, she was 63. A few short weeks later, I was playing when I got the knock on the door in the early evening..“your mother has been involved in an accident with a drunk driver…she did not survive.” by two policemen and a clergy. I lived with my mother, we shared an apartment. One of the only things that got me through those dark, ugly days was to be able to log onto the game she had gotten for me, GW2, and disappear into another world for a time…and remember who gave me the world to disappear into in order to deal with a devastating blow that no one knew would ever be. One day, I hope to find a guild that I can be in that I can place one of these memorials for her. Though not a gamer, she knew her daughter was…and so gave me this world to play in, turn my jagged grief into a brief smile at one of the darkest times of my life, and now yet as time passed its getting less jagged. I am still enjoying the world she gave me to escape to today. One day, I would like to place one of these memorials for her. It was an awesome touch to add these memorials as options.

For the most part they do, but today? No, I’m not doing Dragon Stand anymore…I did it several times but I’m not going to try to wait around for a timed map to succeed in order to do a daily. I hate that place and its timers, fails, and the whole thing. No events until the main event is in full swing…too bad for you if it isn’t. Jumping puzzles, nope not for me..but for the most part there are other options, today’s just no..no nasty stand…and no jumping puzzles. So…another day I guess. Its been pretty often though lately that there are no other options besides two non jumping puzzles out of the four, so the third one, to get the daily completer, well no options, can only do two instead of three. So no…I don’t like the change at all. But who am I? No one…a girl is no one…

“Some rare things are so hard to get, that it requires a lot of time and effort to obtain (i.e. Ex Machina title). To get this, you need to grind for a lot of lower level rewards, and a healthy dose of RNG for the rare Reclaimed Metal Plates. Some players at end game who have done next to everything available had something long term to work for. With the latest update, Reclaimed Metal Plates are now a guaranteed drop from map metas, and other required mats like ley crystals and airship parts seemed to have increase 10 fold. Something that I expected me to take months to obtain, now can be completed in a few days of farming. "

It did take me months to obtain those Reclaimed metal plates, months to get enough pods from DS to get the plated, machined weapons created, each time having to run DS and hoping the whole time I could find a few more pods on the way to maybe complete the meta and get to the vendors at the end with enough to get one…then repeat the whole process for the next one. Now…pods are everywhere, metal plates dropping with meta, and the rest.

I am just saying that it trivialized all I have done now, and well, I’ll just get what I need fast, get to the goal and stand there and wonder hmm ok that’s done, now what. I used my level 80 boost even though I have eight now, so I have the goal of getting enough HP for elite specialization, but I noticed very few out there now in the HoT areas know how to run the meta’s, even AB for the last week is failing bad each time someone is asking what to do and how to do it. Simple reason really: Raining rewards meant people are done with that quickly, no need for experienced players to stay in those zones anymore. Why? They already got what they need, even quicker now, so they are not there.

I understand “new people” but its really shortened and cheapened the challenge now.

Saying it doesn’t happen, never did I say that, saying that for each and every person that plays there is a perspective that is different than yours, an experience different than yours, is true. There is a problem that needs to be addressed and has been stated by many people. However, I do not believe it will be addressed any time soon. To dismiss an experience as a lie does not contribute to helping the real issue that is there.

For a bit of clarification before I begin this, I have played since the beginning of this expansion, since the beginning of GW2 Beta.

For the last couple weeks, there has been no one running these timed events….timed events run on timers, that DOES NOT mean that when it is time people are there to do the events. For the fourth night in a row "East is done! We have 3 minutes to run over and get South, North, and West and we should be good, is anyone over there that can tell status? (bar had not moved on any of the others, one bit, and no one answered) in map chat I see “can someone help me do this hero point? Answer (not from me this came from someone else) Yah no one needs that anymore, go find a group or something loser.” NO one is around. 30 minutes go by, still seeing no one but a few that are running around dying all over the place to various mordrem, tendrils, nasty raptors that drop nothing and kill in seconds for some people if they are in the pack size they are in the West part of Auric Basin.

Moving on, to TD. No one I can see, someone saying “I’m tagged, the Garent is up and running around we need more tags, more people, hurry!” Ok…umm I see in map chat “I need help with this hero point, anyone??” The answer (not from me) Get off the map if your not doing the event, its almost too late and we want people here that are doing the event right now." I say…“How many are in each group right now since Garent is up and kickin already?” Answer, "We have four in my group and no other tags yet for the event you can help start taxi..everyone else get out and let us get players who want to play in here. " I say, “is the map full?” Answer No we need to get it full of real players for the event, get out if you don’t want to help."

Moving on, to DS, hmmm have an hour and some change to go find some pods, good deal, no one here, I’ll go pod farming then. In map chat " Hey!!! is this map active? Why am I here? I was in a group that was doing the final fight? I DC’d and can’t find my group? Someone else “yah me too, is this the same map?? what happened?” Someone else, “I’m tagging up for reset, join me here and we can do the event” Answer Are you kidding us right now?? Two hours into it already and we are out? With nothing? What do you mean reset? Someone answered (not me) Yah umm not wasting two hours on a fight like that, I’m just here for the pods." Ok so I say I’ll help maybe we can get some pods and give that guy a chance to taxi people in to maybe get a large enough group to do DS at reset." Answer "haha yah no, I don’t need your help and I don’t want to do that fail event I’ve never seen it succeed and I’ve wasted so much time trying, go ahead and try if you want you insert nasty names here Ok sorry, I was just asking. In the meantime in map chat “taxi, is anyone helping to taxi? Join my squad for reset, are you tagging, is anyone there?” Nope, just the me and the other pod picker, the two seething from the DC from their almost done Mordy fight, and the one guy tagged up trying to taxi.

Lots around, great time, able to get much done, timers are going, events are going, no one there to do them. Hero points are there, always there, so are the one or two dead people or almost dead beside them trying to do them without anyone else there. Time you say? I have all the time I need to try in the Morning, afternoon, early evening, late evening, daily if I want to. I’m seeing the same thing over and over during all those times for the last week and half two weeks. I’ve played for longer than 10 minutes LOL…I’ve waited longer than 30 minutes at a hero point (asking in map chat "anyone help?) nothing…or rude comments of yah we did that one long ago, catch up!! What’s your problem? insert whatever other condescending comment here and all that has seemed to come to the forums too. Instead of addressing the problem, just you know try to smear the messenger, that will get it changing in the right direction for sure.

This….so much! It takes a long time to scrounge up those Crystalline ores to buy inscriptions, or weapons for machined weapon making from those vendor’s at the end of DS, going through this makes it even MORE fun.

Knowing I’m not done with all my characters insignia’s (druid’s insignia, reaper’s insignia, mesmer’s insignia ect) to get the elite spec ascended weapons, then each one to make a machined weapon as part of that, I only have three so far.

I have run DS many times or as many times as blackjack odds get me back in the map after reset with my group, don’t DC, all that jazz to MAYBE get to the end, and well, never seem to have enough crystallized ore to get what I need and to have to go through this every stinkin time, the blackjack odds of actually getting in to give it a run makes it bad on top of getting what noxious pods for crystalline ore I need for the vendor, well it’s not a pleasant experience all around. (I changed one word in the quote cause no wife…just fish lol)

I do intend to do them, if I can, past the collection items. I am going to try some with all your advice here, some searching, researching, and well with some luck and courage to go in in the first place..lol…I’m getting a lot of information now with videos and the like now that I know what I am searching for…just typing in “fractals” wasn’t getting me anywhere at first as there is so much to it. And I want to be a help not a hindrance to the others I am with so I’m going to make sure I have a good idea, or as best as possible one, before I head into one.

Thank you for your answers, it helps a lot. Specifically, Sacrificial Savior – Save Grawls, defeat the Grawl Shaman in the Volcanic fractal and Homeland Re-claimer – Help the Charr reclaim their homeland in the Urban Battleground fractal.

So here I was, never even running one once, being told I couldn’t run any yet. I’ll have to see then if those are the higher number fractals. Just knowing that the 1-20 fractals are something that I CAN do, without making myself a “carry” which I won’t do, if I try hard enough is a good start then.

Agony infusions…hmm I looked some up on the TP, expensive, BUT it says on some crafting mat for Artificer, I’ll bet I might be able to make those then, I wonder if there is more but just knowing to look for “agony infusion” on web sites and the Wiki is a big start in the right direction!

Ok, for the first time I am after a legendary. Yes, I’ve played since the beginning but never really did any fractals or was interested in them. Now, however, just for the pre for the legendary I want, Sunrise pre, it states two fractals are needed for that. So…here are my questions and I hope those who know will answer or at least give an opinion so I know where to even start. And thank you in advance for reading.

I was told “you must have all ascended to do fractals”, I don’t..I have one weapon (focus) I made that is ascended, I have both rings, an amulet, that are ascended, and that is all right now. I have both with the infusions that you can buy at the laurel vendor. So, does that mean I can’t run fractals? I’ve been trying to make more, but I have one level 500 artificer, and one level 500 tailor, so not sure if I can get good enough gear by making it myself or???

The character that I play the most is a Reaper, she has the partial ascended gear on right now. I also play a Druid, she however, has no ascended as of yet, I’m working on that but its taking me some time for mats and the like to make her at least an ascended weapon and saving laurels to buy some rings and such. I’m getting there slowly

I was told “you get ascended gear from fractals, but you can’t run fractals until you have ascended gear” do I just keep trying to make some or is this a catch 22 that is difficult? This was all I was told by my guild, other than someone saying “or you could get someone to carry your worthless self (not the words used but for forum purpose these are the ones I’ll use)”

I am pretty down about this, as I don’t want to be “carried” I want to pull my weight and do what I should do, I just need a direction and some advice to start trying to get to where I need to be to do this. All my characters are in all exotic gear/part ascended so I try hard but I’m not even sure if I am trying in the right direction…I hope that makes sense to someone lol…

Anyone who has pointers, web links, or advise, if you would, please give them. I would greatly appreciate it, just if you could, please be kind about harsh criticism, I’ve gotten a lot of that lately with no real answers as to why so its getting pretty frustrating asking. Please don’t make anymore Mushroom pants. It makes me think Mordremoth took actual people and made them into mushrooms, and all they have left is their pants. Maybe that is why that make that horrible sound.

Meh…up until recently work was over 80hrs a week, travel to 13 countries, 24/7 on call so in between that, I played some when I could.

So, the squad is full, five minutes until reset for DS, JOINED A SQUAD, so did other people…boom reset happens, that’s fine, this is great we are all going to get to do this because we got in a commander’s group beforehand and still are…yah! ummm no…click “join commander’s name here in Dragon Stand” Been in a squad from the beginning, all of us…the answer “sorry the map is full” the whole entire squad can’t get on the same map. No that is not anyone’s solution as it doesn’t always work. The solution is not a 50/50 chance of actually getting in. “poor man” solution did not work for this, so what does it need a “destitute man” solution now?

We were just talking about that yesterday, how nice that would be (burrowing chickens marked on the map for later viewing) just one example of that. Would love to see something like that with map marking. All my favorite waterfall places, underwater places and more. Just agreeing with your suggestion as I’ve often wanted it too over the years in this game. Thanks for suggesting this.

Right before I go into a Meta, I change graphic settings to best performance, lower the texture on character texture. I’ve not had much problems since I’ve been doing that. Your mileage may vary, so many things that could be causing these its hard to say, even after the 64 bit some are having issues, different video cards, different processors, different set ups…but this gave me some relief from the crashes. I also ran a dump file on the process that caused the crash and did a little tweaking on my video card. Might try that, its much less aggravating.

Yay for gliding in Tyria! I can’t wait. No more saying “where’s my glider I need my glider” I can use it anywhere. I’m excited for this. Can’t wait to glide across the skylines

Been with this game since the beginning. I love the beautiful zones, the music, did I say the music??? I like that there is always something to do, crafting, chasing after some legendary, yes it takes time but I get lost in just playing the stories and side quests and sometimes get surprised by “oh that’s part of my legendary collection that i just got”.

I love the characters, the graphics, the cities, the monsters, the odd funny things that happen, exploring all the crooks and nannies, ummm crooks and fannies, hookin and grannies, umm all obscure out of the way places on the map.

The parts that I like in the game far outweigh any I don’t, because there are always choices to pick from. Three years later, actually since 2004 if you count GW1 days, I still love the game. I don’t think I’m ever going to get everything done that I want to do there is so much to choose from, that is what makes it fun for me, and has all this time.

That’s a reason. Farmed for two hours yesterday no crystal to open the door, the event must be complete before the merchant offers the Oola’s Data Crystal.

In GW1, which was my first experience with GW in 2004, characters could not jump, as in not even a jump standing in place unless you used the dance emote then some of them jumped. People asked for characters that could jump. I’m one of them, but not in this fashion, those games with jumping PUZZLES were never something I enjoyed, a jump once in awhile yes but overboard no. In GW2 the jumping aspect is something I despise greatly. I just plan and simple won’t do jumping puzzles because I hate them. I like all the other aspects of it (yes I have HoT and still find other ways around the kitten jumping puzzles) a little here and there, yes, but that no. It hasn’t always been ingratiated so much into the GW games. I adjust my play to avoid them, I don’t want anything, nothing, that bad that I would do them. (I don’t need to be “reminded” of what I am “missing” btw, I already know, and its not worth it to me to do them, it might be worth it to YOU but not to me. I’ve been with GW2 since beta, there is plenty to do that I actually like doing and I’ll forgo jumping puzzles. Again, for YOU wanting the things behind puzzles is important, for me its not. The dislike of them far outweighs the rewards for ME. I was even thinking of fractals, as I do have ascended armor and felt ready after all this time to try them, but I read this, and nope I’ll stay out of them. Better for you and for me.

I run the 64 bit client, I’ve worked as a System Admin for 17 years, I know the drill. However, there is not going to ever be a solution to every person’s dc issue, including mine. So many individual issues can come up that including a solution to all of them is just not possible. However, my request is to at the very least, change the mapping system to allow for players who do dc to rejoin their squad in the DS instance, even though the “map” as its called is full (not a map, its a partition on the server dedicated to that instance) . There are ways of doing that part.

I’ve done plenty of research..if you dc, in a group, you should be able to join that group again afterward, and all the other instances where people (not just me) dc, in other meta events, just clicked on someone in the group and reentered where we were, join in whatever instance, not this one. Research is needed on the map system and the event system for DS.

I run the 64 bit client, however, the DS issue doesn’t happen to just those who get dc’d, a couple of people join our squad, and every time, there are a few who go into the portal for DS for the event, in our squad, and end up on an empty map and can’t rejoin the squad no matter if they click on a member and request enter their instance, they ported in, empty map, they can’t join us after that. Its not just a matter of dc.

Just happened to me too, last two minutes, would have been successful, and dc…yes I have the 64 bit…but that doesn’t mean I shouldn’t come back when in a party to the same map as them after spending an hour and half on the same map with my party! They were there, on the right map, I was not. I tried to get back in with the squad and no go over 20 times, then I gave up, got back in on another map, the area closes I die, wait to res up and can’t get to my squad again after everyone gets thrown out…so stand there on an empty map…this is beyond bad. Not even sure I ever want to try again, so frustrating !!!

Thanks from me too. I had never done the tangle depths meta before, so I found my way there and groups were forming. I joined a commanders squad as they requested. I was unsure. So I asked them, “just follow or should I go and read up on it and come back later, I’ve never done it, and don’t want it to fail for others.” They said “no, stay..I’ll be telling the steps and what to do all the way, just listen and you can do this!” So..all the way through, every step they were saying what to do, what to watch for, even a few whispers “blue circle means dead, remember that” things like that. I’ll always be grateful for the commander that led that squad I joined that night. I’m always grateful for help but most times afraid to ask but that night, yah, every step of the way I knew what I was supposed to be doing because of them. Thanks commanders!

Don’t like Jumping puzzles, at all, which is of no consequence because I don’t want the “shoulder” piece so I’ve been giving out my drinks I get to people for free since this started. 10,000 is a lot of drinks. I won’t use them, its a holiday, and I like giving them out! So I guess I would not be listing them for any price. I get more out of giving them away than the gold they might bring, but that’s just me.

April, 2005, GW1, I started with the GW games, and this thing around work and around gaming people circles was WoW is better! No GW1 is better! constant rivalry. Even “dance off” videos posted WoW vs GW .

I started WoW just to see what the hype was about at the end of 2005 while still playing GW. I got all the expansions for each, every time they came out. One foot on both sides of the rivalry for years.

No I didn’t stop playing either of them, moving on to GW2 in beta and staying with it this whole time, and playing WoW as well this whole time. Until now. I really got fed up with WoW and the way the game changed so much and 179.88 sub fees for a year of gaming, no I don’t buy six months at a time, which still would have been 144.00 a year in sub fees plus expansion costs. Yes GW had expansion cost but it comes no where near what it costs for WoW per year.

So…I switched to WoW tokens, for gold you could get game time. Started at 20,000 gold, now is up to 50,000 gold to get a month. Yes, I work, yes I can “afford” game time but that is not the point. The point is, value for your money. Which varies GREATLY from person to person and each person has their own value decision to make.

But what really made me stop WoW completely is I didn’t like the quests, they got gimmicky and the fact that there is no shared targets and cross realm zones now in WoW, you could wait in a bottle neck at a quest area that was now “on rails” meaning you have to complete that one to move on to the next, watching piles of the same body of a boss and groups waiting to kill the next body and only one would get it each time, really turned me away. Rare monsters used to be difficult and rare, now rares are everywhere and spawn within minutes, once you kill them, that’s it, they are not rare anymore. The real “Rares” are camped by lots of people, no shared target, so your first or you lose. Fights break out in chat regularly due to this. Its been three years since cross realm in Wow and I’m done with it.

Yes every game has it perks, every game has its “better this way” mechanics and quests, but I don’t want WoW’s ways, the rivalry it seems will continue….years in the making.

You make your decision. I made mine. Doesn’t mean one is better than the other, but WoW isn’t all sunshine and roses in the questing areas. At least GW2 has shareable targets, you can group or not group, (btw WoW, you cannot group with cross realm zoned people you see, you can by LFG realm but not trade, join guilds, server rivalry will cause many griefers and arguments about grouping for a quest, click on a cross realm zone person to ask to group and get “this person does not exist”, two person mounts still plummet your guest to the ground to death when crossing into cross realm zones and you get 50% experience not full XP in a group)

GW2 has its issues, but for me, I’ll never go back to WoW again. I am done with it.

Had a great time with the Halloween Festival! I always do. I look forward to it every year, three years now. Thank you for doing this festival. I got lots o loot, had fun with all of it. Now time to store my corn, make my recipes, bank all my ingredients and save them up for next year like I always do. Ready to start out the next one next year with stashed supplies Oh, I liked it so much I went ahead and bought HoT. I was on the fence about it, but I was having so much fun I just wanted to go on to the next level. One adventure led to another. Twas a Happy Halloween!!

MMORPG = Massive Multiplayer Online Role Playing Game, no where does it state it is a MMGORPG – Massive Multiplayer Group Online Role Playing Game. If there are others playing the same game as you (Massive Multiplayer Online Role Playing game) it does not mean you have to group with them in order to play. Again, its not MMGORPG. If you want semantics there it is. If you want choice, this game was touted as giving that choice in the beginning. If it has changed, it wasn’t conveyed. If you want to group that is fine. If you don’t, that is fine. Stop with the old worn out MMORPG statement, its irrelevant and you keep using that word, I do not think it means what you think it means. INCONCEIVABLE.

No one can say what is wrong or right for another person. That being said, if you don’t like something you should have the opportunity to say it. Yes, from the beginning, it was stated on the official blogs this:

Apparently, you cannot do that anymore in the new expansion. Its not a matter of wrong or right, its a matter of how you want to play and what was said of the game before you decided to purchase it as to whether or not you would be interested in it.

I can see that even though I have been playing since the beta of GW1 because of the solo content available, that is it no longer the game for me long term. I will play the core game, but I will not purchase HoT because its not enjoyable to me. Doesn’t make it wrong if its enjoyable to YOU though. All I’m saying is that its a different game than what it was. Your opinion may differ but that doesn’t make either of us wrong or right for having an opinion.

(MMORPG, massive multiplayer online role playing game, is not MMFGORPG, massive multiplayer forced group online role playing game. Just because there are lots people playing the same game doesn’t mean they all have to play together if they don’t want to)

I’m still playing with just the core game only. I actually just started a new character and have lots to do at the moment within the core game only. So yes I am still going to be playing without HoT, and I was here during the Beta and first day of GW2, also a GW1 player. I still find it to be fun even with just the core game

No where is it stated that its a RGMMORPG (required group massive multiplayer online role playing game) just because someone doesn’t like to group doesn’t mean they don’t want to play this game. Just because someone doesn’t want to play with the simultaneously playing other players doesn’t mean they don’t like the game itself. GW2 has a lot of solo content, and people in the beginning, starting with the Beta stated that was something unique and great with the game.

I see a lot of solo content that is played by massive amount of simultaneous players that are in fact playing solo. Just because large amounts of people can access a game at the same time doesn’t mean they all have to play together. However, if you like grouping you can, if you don’t you don’t have to and this game was once the answer to both. It was even advertised that way, “play your way”. I’ll keep playing, my way, solo. And if there comes a time when I can’t or feel I have no content to do, I’ll stop playing. Simple as that. But the MMORPG argument against solo players has been worn out.
