I guess, I just thought it’d be in everyone’s interest to add a new dungeon or some new kind of harder content, maybe 10 man dungeons or something, I’ve had a few friends quit already cause there’s not enough content, I mean I’m still sticking around doing my farming and fractals and I love gw2 for the gameplay and everything, I just feel like I’m doing the same thing over and over, but yeah you do have a valid point there crazy.
Not when you undergo 3 surgeries in 5 months. Regardless, I would like them to add more content that takes more than 5 minutes to complete, and doesn’t require a grind of stuff that’s been there for 6+ months
I have played GW2 for 5 months now, and I found it really fun, having leveled almost all classes to 80, and tried all classes in SPVP, played for 1,2k+ hours, however lately I’ve been getting really bored with the game. Please guys, introduce something new, not just new gear and make me grind fotm or cof more. Add new dungeons, new armor looks, something to work towards with new content. Just my 2 cents.
Sadly 0 I really like DD
Well, against level 80 players, with toughness I crit about 5-6k with BS unbuffed. The crits you see in videos are against upleveled players, and here’s an example of one
Would be a really nice buff, that or the reverted damage on backstab, regardless I still love thief.
I guess that the Developer Steal is better than the thief steal…
Thanks for all your help guys, and thank you Grimm for taking me into TS3 to help me out, I have an idea where to go from here, and thanks for your build for wvw
Thanks man, that guy is insanely good, I still want DD though, but would you suggest adding cavalier to the zerk or valk? And I’m still not sure where to add them, on which of the pieces
Hm, that seems like a pretty good choice for a tanky build, what do you think of going full zerker? Mainly a glass cannon spec with the survivability coming from evades and stealth, could you use the editor to make an example of a spec that could do that? Btw appreciate all the advice you’ve given me so far thanks alot
Thank you for the suggestion, what would you suggest to trade off for valk or soldier gear, jewels or maybe a chest piece/legs or daggers?
Thanks, I’d prefer zerker with maybe some knights to add a little bit of toughness for wvw, the traditional one seems really full glass cannon and looks like it can do an insane amount of damage.
What do you think of this one: http://gw2skills.net/editor/?fYEQNAoYVlUmCO3eS9E95Ex2jdqTeqzgmts/wVB

I’ve recently picked up thief, and I’m looking to do some PvE and WvW as a roamer, I’m looking for a D/D backstab glass cannon build, I’m used to dodging, played a melee mesmer full zerk, so that isn’t an issue and it’s a nice challenge of course, but I’m looking for some advice from you experienced thieves for some builds.
Best regards
If me and my guild were to switch servers, would we lose all the upgrades/buffs/gbank etc or just the influence? If anyone knows the details, please help
best regards
Thing is, I’ve seen lots of people quit his game because of the fact that there is no PvE progression, and rewards not being as good as they should be, in fact read the comments:http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6vQZyILWlO4
I don’t know this person, but he quit gw2 for good and is never returning to it because of the reward system and no progression, mind you he has gotten to max level fractals.
dungeons should take more than 6 minutes – how anyone could possibly think cof1 is intended is insane :p
It’s the mentality that is permeating the player base of this game:
Instant gratification.
Anything that isn’t “instant” is “a grind” and “against the manifesto.”

I’ve raided for 12+ hours in wow because of 1 boss. I don’t mind grinding, farming but thats where DR comes in. You aren’t allowed to farm according to anet.
Done fotm32 on a guardian, gs / scepter+focus, but using mainly the gs. Had no big issues with going melee most of the time – just don’t waste your dodges and blocks, and when you go berserker on stats, bring defensive utilities and traits. Use proper food and potions of X slaying, too – the potions help tremendously.
And i can’t agree about high fotm not yielding decent drops – had many exotics from fotm26+, not to mention the cool fractal skins. Many rares, cores and lodestones, too.Still, it’s really down to the fact that if you’re playing an MMO for rewards, you should rather play one of the Zynga games. MMOs are unique because of their social take, and GW2 is simply great fun to play and explore, without being reward-oriented all the time. The graphics are stunning, the gameplay is awesome, mechanics mostly are really decent and enjoyable, and the social aspect certainly has great potential.
It’s not about the virtual pink circles or virtual gold unless you make it so, and if you do – yeah, i guess you will get bored and frustrated fast.
The problem is most people want something to work towards, and this game doesn’t really have it, people will start leaving and the game will die. I don’t think it’s in anyone’s intrest.
My ranger is 38 but thanks. Everyone knows there’s nothing past 30 but daily unlocks. Why bother doing more? this thread was more about fixing COF exploits and runs taking twice as long then it was with doing fractals 30+ for nothing new.
And by harder, you mean killing trash? Or the slight changes to AC that took about half a day for the masses to figure out?
The difficulty is relative. CoF being beaten in 7-15mins regardless of group make-u kitten tupid and done with exploits. those exploits being fixed will make it a 15-30min instance at no real increase in overall difficulty, just time.
l2p.
Aren’t you seeing the irony in your post here? I’ve said that I want dungeons to be alot harder, but the reward to be equivilent to the difficulty. Please read the thread before you post things that aren’t related to the topic at all. Yes. Fix the bugs. Yes. Make it harder. No. Don’t make the reward kitten as it has become with CoE and TA.
This whole argument is kind of irrelevent. While not ideal, everyone should have enough karma by the time they get 80 to get a reasonable amount of PVT/Condition gear as well as be coming close to getting their amulet through laurels or the guild system. The dungeon pieces are there to supplement this and the gains aren’t that significant. Fractals is no different. By the time you’re level 10-15 you’ve got the points for the agony resist.
The other issue I have with these posts is these supposed new people we’re talking about aren’t new at all, but rather alts. So they never get a chance to level in higher level zones, don’t loot higher level loot, and don’t have the mats for higher level gear at 80 because they’re left buying all the mats off the AH and it’s quite expensive.
Overall I think it’s being blown out of proportion though. It’s quite easy to get gear. It may not be the most ideal gear, but it’s easy to get and tide you over until you can swap out pieces for berserkers or whathaveyou. People will continue to run CoF after the nerfs because CoE is too hard for a lot of people to dodge properly. I wouldn’t worry about it.
I’m assuming you are level 1-10 fractals from your point of view of them. AR is pretty irrelevant, you can get it easily, however the MOBS 1 hit you. The main point is that it’s not worth going higher fractals because the reward is awful.
(edited by Leths.6751)
By the way, melee isn’t so bad. I play full zerker thief in up to fractals 16 and I rarely die or get downed. It’s just a matter of learning the dungeon and dodging at the right moments.
So you have no idea what you are talking about, you just wanted to defend anet “just because”.
No, I have an idea. But I haven’t gone past fractals 16 yet to see. I know for certain that Agony hits melee and ranged for the same damage since it ticks a percent of your health. Now, is it easier for range to just avoid agony straight out vs melees? Maybe, but playing as thief for so long, I’m quite used to dodging because hits usually take me out regardless. I have a dual ranged/melee build anyways so I switch to whatever I see fit. I completely understand how it can be difficult for melees at close range in fractals for others though.
Personally, I think it’s okay for a nerf because there’s an issue with an easy dungeon for farming. People flock to it and farm and farm and farm. Anet has a few choices they can do to make less people do that. They have to nerf loot there so that people go to other dungeons and that rewards you with things that equals your time and effort, or they revamp CoF P1 to make it take as much effort as any other dungeon paths. Revamp is a much nicer solution than nerfing loot if you ask me
.
Clearly, if something is easy, people are going to choose that path for farming aren’t they? It trivializes all other dungeons in a way because people run only that dungeon… Wasn’t the point of dungeons were to have fun and gear up, not to farm repeatedly for money?
It’s not like it will be terrible though. If you guys seen AC after the revamp and bug fixes, it’s a lot more interesting to play through. That’s like new content technically and I ran that place to see how the bosses changed. So if they do revamp CoF, I have no problem with it.
Also, to address the topic, I think the current state of the game is usually improving. We don’t lose content, but we gain content and new things to do with each patch. And the direction? I don’t think it is bad. It’s a response to some rather large issues the game had at the beginning.
Edit: http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Agony
300% agony damage sounds a bit too high according to wiki.
As stated before, Agony is not that big of an issue, it is avoidable most of the time, the mobs however will 1 shot you, I’ve told you this before, but you don’t seem to listen. I’ve also said that making dungeons harder isn’t an issue, but upping the reward with making them harder should be there too, but it isn’t. Quite like going higher than 20+ in fractals, no point. The reward doesn’t get better at all… Get your facts straight instead of beating a dead horse.
(edited by Leths.6751)
Kenshinakh, level 16 fractals is easily done by 3 full berserker players. I’m talking about 30+ when mobs are 2 levels higher than you, agony isn’t such an issue at 30, but at 40+ even with 35 AR you INSTANTLY die at the jade maw, there’s no avoiding it. Does 300% of your health as damage. The CoF p1 is the only dungeon that is even remotely profitable, I don’t mind making dungeons harder, in fact I’d love that, but the reward should be according to the difficulty. Another thing, doing level 30+ fractals is dumb because the reward is same as 10+ in the loot, the only difference is the fractal weapon skins or infused rings. The whole system is just wrong.
Guild Wars 2 started as a great MMO, kept you playing in a really nice manner, however lately in the patches, I have experienced some unpleasant things. At first doing dungeons was very profitable, and challenging, after the dungeons got nerfed, the loot went right after it. First TA, then CoE, and now you want to nerf CoF p1 farming. I understand the logic behind it and all, but doing level 30+ fractals is NOT worth it. The drops do not improve AT ALL. There is no point in going melee, because you will just get 1 shot regardless of your gear. So what we’re facing right now is level 30+ fractals are being done by full ranged groups, full berserker stats, healing is of no use and melees are being pretty much 1 shot. A guildie of mine runs Authristic healing for a guardian and he’s having insane trouble staying alive at 30+, practically impossible. The problem we’re going to face with the CoF p1 farming nerf, is a really massive gap between the people who just start the game, and the ones who have done all the farming and got their gear. I believe this game is at the point where the next 2 big patches will decide how many people will stay, and how many will leave. I really hope that the game has great success, but at this rate I really don’t see it happening. I really hope you guys do something to make this game drive you to play, because that’s the whole point of MMOs. Right now it feels like a single player game, once you finish your story, you are done.
+1 to this topic. Agreed on everything 100%
I really do not see what people are getting all up in arms about. When was the last time you heard anybody complaining about piercing skills in sPvP? You don’t because it is hard as kitten to aim piercing attacks to hit more than 1 target.
As a PvE player, I love the aoe change. The shatter damage is kind of a bad change imo, they should remove some of the utility it can give, rather than lower damage, because the damage isn’t that high in PvE, it’s maybe 3k per shatter with crit, FULL zerker gear. On a 15 second cooldown, it’s nowhere near a warrior damage. That’s why I’m kind of worried that this will completely kill shatter in PvE.
What do you mean destroy shatter winter? What would be the point of that?
Shatter spec. It seems that most believe it’s our most viable spec in sPVP. I think this is fine, as long as they buff other areas to compensate, diversity is welcoming to me as I like to experiment with builds rather than playing the same one 99% of the time.
Yes, for sPvP, but wouldn’t they only be changing the sPvP shatter, because they already seperated some skills in PvP from PvE effects, it should have no effect in PvE then.
I guess we’ll just have to wait and see. I really enjoy shatter, but I really don’t see how they’re gonna nerf it damage-wise because the damage isn’t THAT high. It’s balanced, secure source of damage, same with phantasms, I see the boon removal on shatter nerf, or something along those lines, but I really don’t see the point, because in PvE it’s balanced with other classes, and in WvW, let’s be realistic, how many people in big battles get to shatter… Those clones get aoed down like they’re rabbits.
The only difference for mesmers between pve and pvp is the damage from confusion… And that is just the condition… No mesmer changes have ever been split between pvp and pve… So this shatter nerf that is designed for sPvP is going to affect all mesmers across all aspects of play.
Still doesn’t mean they won’t do it, atleast I hope they will. We’ll just have to wait and see I guess

Thanks for that Panda, it’s definitely piercing. Love the change.
Interference – I will cry myself to sleep the day it happens.
Piercing – I will not sleep that day.
I actually had a very similar build idea for my mesmer originally, however my team has 2 guardians, and with the 2 walls of reflection, I don’t really need the focus reflection, hence why I went staff for the fields, extra chaos armor there. It seems like a really nice build, although I’ve found that stacking too much reflection can be a waste if you have 1 or 2 guardians. Thanks for the input, I will defintely try it out.
I really like the ideas you guys are giving here, lets keep this alive, maybe they apply some of them, would be really nice
Smilko – what runes/sigils do you use? Could you link your build?
I’ve done up to 38, I usually play safe, however in some close up encounters I do use the sword for distorsion/shatter, decoy, etc. It works up until then, but 40+ is a whole different story.
Hey guys, I’m looking to get into level 40+ fractals, basically I’m a berserker shatter built mesmer, focusing on GS/Staff usage, but all weapons are viable with this. I’m curious of what you guys think about a build I’ve come up with and what you think should be tweaked. The main weak points of this build are the close and personal encounters with mobs, for example the giant fractals at the chest seal. Would mean alot to me if you could help me out and give me your opinions on this.

The Illusion master trait can be switched up for some other traits, such as phantasm cdr, or 9% damage for illusions depending on the situation, but this is the basis.

Yeah they need to polish some of the effects, add some to the ministrel and some of the other low effect legendaries. Maybe add the twilight/sunrise/incinerator to certain abilities, sorry if I forgot any.
That sounds like a great idea Luimes! I really hope A-net kind of improves the legendaries, including adding footsteps etc to Eternity.
I think it’d be cool if the mesmers 4 greatsword skill, the berserker would get sunrise or twilight upon using it with the greatsword. It would make sense since the guardian gets to throw twilights/sunrises on the spin and the pull. Just a little detail that would make it much more awesome.
We had to reset her about 2-3 times in order for it not to be bugged, it’s just a matter of reseting all the time until its not bugged.
So me and my guildies are currently doing Arah path 4, stuck at the Dwayna fight. We get the boss to 50%, it dissapears, we get it back out at like 55%, really fast, we get her to 50% again in like 5 seconds and she disseapears again, rinse and repeat. She keeps dissapearing at 50%, any advice?
I see your point Sashi, but not everyone has time to sit there for 2 hours to do a daily event, 1 out of many. The point I’m trying to make is if you picked your server, you should stay on it for events and such, guesting is a great feature to play with friends, but guests overtaking a server is definitely not fun.
Recently there has been a wave of incorrect world events such as dragons, fire elemental, megadestroyer etc..
There has been a wave of people guesting on high population servers, Desolation in my case, putting the actual Desolation players in overflows, making them miss events etc. But that’s alright, get there 45 minutes before the spawn window and you should be able to make it.
Now the timers have been frequently messed with on the guildwarstemple by some guilds on Desolation to avoid it, but it is causing the events to be pretty much useless and a waste of time.
My suggestion to fix this is to implement in game timers on dragons, make them spawn in overflows at the same time OR just make guesting literally useless for events or give the actual server members priority in maps to get out of overflow.
The past 2 days I had no chance to do a single dragon because of these problems, and I am not the only one. There is plenty of people complaining about this already and this needs to be fixed as soon as possible.
A small guild I’m in is building up aswell by buying influence. Arenanet is making it very hard for us little communities.
I’ve missed 6 events today due to Overflow and I’ve experienced rediculous server lag during events. Please fix the guesting feature. Signed.
Just a suggestion to make server transfers from high/very high populated servers to low/medium free, that way the servers can get balanced out.
Also we’re trying to get in high level fractals and get started on WvW
The new AC is pretty much impossible to do with level 35 people, it is needed to have high leveled people in the group. I could ramble on why, but I just wanted to point out to other people, unless you have an ele and a proper tank that are level 80, don’t bother with AC.
Well, we killed the last boss in the jellyfish fractal, our team member pressed Travel back to Dessa’s lab instead of retry from checkpoint and we never got the popup to continue to the 4th one
We killed the boss in the 3rd fractal and our group member instead of retry from checkpoint pressed return to dessa’s lab and now we’re stuck. Any tips?
