Ok i know I am super late. But are some of you really complaining about
“Logic and realism of a magically appearing axe?”

This entire game is full of magic, monsters, and impossibilities.

BUT the re-appearing axe is where you draw the line?

Overall ANet seems to care less and less about communicating or listening to it’s users which is always a bad/foreboding sign in MMOs of any kind.

Especially scary seeing how young this game is and already a lack of communication to an entire community of players (Mac Players)

I’ve combing the posts trying to see what kind of grievances Mac players have. This item number one that I’m looking into. I haven’t posted on this yet because I didn’t have anything relevant to communicate.

I’m poking hard though, and as I have any information or update to give you guys I will share.

LOL true! sorry, i was having a horrible night, and the lag to go with it, i know everyone deserves a day off, and i didn’t realize it was the weekend haha. Thanks for taking time to hit us up with info, do you know if they ever really even plan on making a client, cause really you have to agree the way we get handled, makes it look like they regret even doing a mac beta

whats the point of a mini period? it has to be re-summoned every time you change areas, and it doesn’t even pick up loot for you, the simplest most common “mini pet task”.

Thats why i may see ONE mini per month, with a sudden breif spike in activity during holiday events.

And you charge us real money in the gemstore for these things? why so i can fill up my collectible tabs? booooooo

also just to be cool, pet skins would be awesome, and add more pets! add some crazy stuff, this whole game is based on magical stuff, give us some awesome pets, like on a game called “Rappelz” Now that game has some beast pet options

I am simply wondering if anybody knows if the Mac Mini is capable of running the game?

First and foremost, I apologize if this has already been covered, but my Searchkittenis weak. If it has, a link to the pre-existing post will satisfy my searchings.

I am not very hardware savvy when it comes to comparing numbers and terms, so have no real clue if the built in graphics ‘card’ of the Mac Mini can support GW2. My MacBook Pro died and I am searching for a replacement that is capable of running the game and the Mini meets my budget requirements.

i am running on a mid 2011 model, i5, and it runs pretty nice. the only FEW RARE issues are mainly from the cider port, not really the mac mini specs.

keep in mind, the mac minis have gotten better over the years except with graphics cards. my graphics card is better than the newer minis so do a lil research, you may be able to get an older mini and save a few bucks. and run more smoothly

I ONLY bought this game because they released the Mac beta, Mac is all i have and all i will ever want.

Did they really release a beta without ever intending on releasing a real client, or to even update us on their plans? it seems that way.

That’s Shady, especially while they release a news blog on our American Site saying how excited they are about releasing the game in China….. NEWS FLASH we don’t care, we don’t live in China.

How about you worry about the people who already bought the game, not about the people who will buy it in the future.

and yep i can see where them adding the info to the site, is helpful in a way. But i think to a gamer, i shouldn’t have to go onto the website, or search a wiki to find out info that i feel should be provided in-game. But i still agree with what you said non-the-less! haha thanks for the input.

How about VOICE CHAT? , for parties, & guilds. and maybe commanders on wvwvw

oh yes a toggle on/off is ok, i was just pointing out that not all the commanders in pve are doing this to show off (but i am well aware that others do it all the time for no reason, i guess they have something small to hide in plain sight? ^^)

a commander outside wvwvw has its uses, you may not understand it because you probably don’t do guild missions, but it’s a very useful feature, easy to spot by everyone since we can only see party members in map and since guild missions require more than 5 people

Correct, i can understand that, that’s why a toggle on/off commander marker would be great. for those of us who have no intention on guild missions at the moment. with three and four on a small minimap, they get very annoying, being they are just as big as the story line icons.

If by green quest marker you mean the Story Line marker, yes that would be nice to hide, along with everything in the upper right corner. And it would be nice to be able to hide commander tags, as they seem to like to cover up everything at times.

Yep true about commander markers, especially outside of wvw like really? who cares about a commander outside of wvw lol. and thanks for the headsup about setting markers on the map, maybe they could make it easier for noobs to know its even an option. (right click . set marker)

I have a few very great improvement ideas that would help all of us out a lot.

Map:
1. (search bar) let us search for an area, or name on the map

2. more detailed key.

3. Option to hide / unhide green quest (story line) icon from minimap.

Friends / Party:
1. Give us an option to teleport to waypoint when Leader of party teleports.
if some people don’t want that option box popping every time a leader teleports. add a setting option to (enable/disable Request Teleport to waypoint)

2. enable/disable option to hide my main quest and see a party members main quest LET ME EXPLAIN _When a friend is starting out a new character, you want to help them. But it is hard when you cannot see what their objective is. YES when you enter an instance with them, you can see their quest line, and details of the objective. just would like that to be further improved while outside an instance. _

3. Make Party icon bigger and stick out more on the big map to find a party member more easily when in total different areas.

Even Better Achievement UI
The New UI is great i really like it a lot, but a few more options in my opinion would make it even sweeter.

1. To be able to Categorize All By:
Rewards
Level of Completeness
Closest to MY current location
Possible AP
& Time Limit,
for the ones that are timed, such as dragon bash. ( i missed the fireworks display and cool helmet because, i didn’t know the firework achievement would only last about a week. Would have been nice to know that.

2. Auto removal for completed Achievements from watch list.
(took this idea from a different poster)

3. Thats really it haha the new UI is great.

Feel free to post your ideas, thoughts, and concerns.
P.s. For the ones that will most likely say, theres already a topic on this look it up. Number One: I searched this forum for multiple of my keywords and found nothing, Number Two: I would rather make my own topic anyways.
Number Three: Why don’t you just make a topic about people making too many topics, label it. “I’m a complainer”.

also would be nice to, have diff tabs to separate the achievements, like if i want to see all the ones that give a reward or title. or the ones with most AP to lowest, and also Nearest – farthest from the area i am in.

i dont know how to find the hidden one. theres only one app support folder there. any settings i need to adjust to see it?

Click “Go” in the menu bar and then hold down the option key. “Library” should appear in that drop down menu while you’re holding Option. Click Library
Then go to the Application SUpport folder inside the Library that has opened up
Inside there is a ‘Guild Wars 2’ folder. Delete it, restart your computer and then open GW2. It should perform a small download and then start up. Let us know how that goes.

(Kylla, I think in your instructions it might be better to place my instructions about holding Option to get to the library, or perhaps the “Go to folder” command might be simpler. People don’t seem to bother reading through the link you post and I think people are hesitant about using the Terminal >.>)

Because that is the wrong Library. Please try and follow my instructions very carefully.
Open Finder.
Click ‘Go’ in the menu bar and then click ‘Go To Folder’ from the drop down menu.
This will open a little dialogue box. Copy and paste this into it: “~/library/” without the quotation marks.
Press ‘Go’ and it will take you to your User Library. Now click ‘Application Support’ from the list that shows up inside the Library.
Inside there is a folder called ‘Guild Wars 2’, delete that entire folder.
Restart your computer.
Start Guild Wars 2.

ok thanks i’ll try it, at first you didnt say to type ~/library/ you just said to press option, and go lol, maybe you thought you put it? either way i found the file, and now restarting mac. i’ll let ya know!

Louiziana, make sure you are navigating to the correct folder, there are 2 application support folders on Mac, but one is hidden. This hidden folder is the one you want!

Please re-read step 4 that I have posted above and try it.

i dont know how to find the hidden one cause i dont even have a library folder after {username} , therefore i cant see an app support folder. when i click my HD i have users, and library folder there. so i click library from there and i see an app support folder, but theres no GW2 inside it.

also i just did more trouble shooting and the game runs fine, when i switch mt my wifes user on this mac. its something wrong with my particular user on this mac, any way to fix or repair it?

i also repaired the macOS cider file you suggested, didn’t work, so i deleted gw2 and completely reinstalled it, and i STILL get a white window with only my username. with lol i was just playing yesterday!

for me.. was a full black screen, i navigated to where i knew the X was and x’d out, restarted my mac, now it comes up, load, logs in, and show a completely white window. i see the mouse changing when i scroll over where the character would be, and other buttons, so the game is there. just cant see it. i dont have the Gw2 file in my application support tab, and not .dat file either. really close to delete and reinstall whole client. any suggestions? it worked fine yesterday.

Thats not nesessary, I play on a 2010 mac mini dual core i5 with intel hd 3000. And i can play with minimal lag on med-low settings (mostly low). Good graphics are not as important to me so this is fine. But with the new mac being newer graphics and a quad core i7. It should be completely fine on med-high settings. Im thinking of upgrading to the new mac mini. Save alotta dough and still use my big screen tv. Haha
