I just bought the expansion and want to change from US to EU server. I am a total EB Rat .. So I was looking at http://mos.millenium.org/eu/matchups/histories
Based on that, Desolation, Piken Square and Far Shiverpeaks seem to be doing good .. I am almost clicking on Desolation, but came here to ask exactly what you asked ! So thanks ! .. I too shall wait for some EU player to respond and then choose ! After all its 1800 hard earnt Gems !

Guide me please.. I am not very smart =)

From where or how do you find all these rule sets?

Ascended items have a attribute called “unique”, which means you can only equip one of that item (type), example
Zerker ring: one is offensive, and one is defensive infusion slot, you can equip one of each, not two of both:
offensive and defensive = ok
offensive and offensive = not gonna work
defensive and defensive not gonna work

The attribute defensive and offensive is determined by what type of infusion slot they can use.

For your zerker set, where you can mess it up is with the rings and accessories,

for your zerker set you can choose one of the following amulets

  • Mark of the Tethyos Houses – offensive
  • Call of the Wild – defensive
  • Distinguished Circle of Logic – utility

for the zeker rings you have to get one of each

  • Ring of Red Death – offensive
  • Crystalline Band – defensive

for the accessories you also have to get one of each type

  • Althea’s Ashes – offensive
  • Magister’s Field Journal – defensive

And the backpack

  • Quiver of Swift Flight – offensive
    or
  • Book of Secrets – defensive

what I would have taken for the zerker set is:

  • Ring of Red Death
  • Crystalline Band
  • Mark of the Tethyos Houses
  • Althea’s Ashes
  • Magister’s Field Journal
  • Quiver of Swift Flight

For the condi set, there are no 100% Dire set, the closest is dire with rabid stats. (applies for ascended)

Do note that you have to craft the backpack with some crafting materials

Do it yourself,but mind you that you cannot wear two ofthe same ring (eg You cannot equip two ring of doric unless only one of them infused)but there are others there with same stats.
And yes,ascended items can be swapped betwin toons.

Hello,

i am a casual player, but I have to accept that I am not very smart when it comes to mmorpgs .. too many items, too many rules which most find very easy .. for me are very very difficult, and crafting is way beyond me, but thats not the problem..

The little help I need here is regarding collecting a few SETS of 6 ascended trinkets .. 1 backpack, 2 ear rings, 2 rings and 1 amulet.. which will be usable amongst all the toons i have.

I have following resources
404 laurels
500 wvw tickets

I have following toons

Thief
Guardian
Mesmer
Necro

I dont think I will be making more toons yet ..

So my Questions or the help that I need is that with above resources, could someone with all knowledge and understanding of this game ..[99% of you i think xD ] kindly spend 2~3 mins and give me a list of ascended trinkets I should collect?

I would like a full set of

a) zerker’s trinket set
b) condition damage trinket set but i want it full dire CONDI vit tough, not the one which has some precision on it..

i dont think i will afford any more, but if something is left, which other set should i collect which will be useful for some other builds?

heh and just to confirm, trinkets are swappable between toons .. right?

I was going to do it myself but someone said dont do it before asking because some trinkets are unique and stuff and you will mess up stuff as usual and waste laurels and tickets ! so i am here =)

Ok, i got the chest, but now as wiki says following:-

WvW Tournament Claim Tickets are rewards to the players that completed the WvW Spring Tournament 2014 meta-achievement release. They can be used in exchange for weapon skins at the Battle Historian.

Now, on EB, I went to Battle Historian .. thats not a shop but just npc giving info about the tournament and rankings etc

So I went to weapon specialist ??? .. i could not find npc by that name .. battle master only offers gift of battle and I dont want to click next to see if he opens a menu .. because if he doesnt, i will lose 500 badges for no good reason and i will get a gift of battle which is utterly useless for me.

so where is the npc where i can spend my 500 wvw reward tickets?

Not every event or ‘challenge’ is available every minute of the game. Not every activity is available every minute of the game. You can’t earn laurels every minute, you can’t craft every item, you can’t run every dungeon all the time.

I don’t see a difference, really, except you do have a choice with Traits to acquire them at any time, should you decide you would rather pay the cost.

Also, I don’t remember any of the pillars of Guild Wars 2 saying anything about never having to wait to play every single piece of content. Perhaps, I missed that part. Do you have a link, please?

Its about giving a choice .. for example of personal storyline.. it is always available and can be done mostly solo even if no one is around at your own time at your own pace .. and it completes at lvl 80 .. traits could have unlocked there .. just a random example.. also, there is no reason why only one task should unlock one trait and that task to be time bound .. say completing personal story line will unlock some X trait, so will some temple and so will some chest at the end of some jumping puzzle .. so player has a choice not bound by TIME.. and remember that trait is a specific reward that needs to be done only ONCE .. once you get it, its forever on that toon.. not like crafting bricks which is intended to slow down the rate at which all toons will become full ascended .. this is totally a different purpose and hence cant be compared to say you have hit lvl 80, you are saving gold for final gear set and you want that last trait .. right now you have nice 2 hrs of gaming time … but no you cant get it just because you missed that time window by 10 mins

and are you talking about getting new traits? I haven’t done any of those yet, and I have yet to see an event where you can pay gold + SP to complete the event. I would love to be able to do that to open Temple of Balth.

Decapitalized some of it.. rest capitalization is more of emphasis and seeming more or less reasonable is subjective.

yes, if new trait is a reward for completing a challenge, then the post does apply to new traits .. you require either gold which you can pay to trainer anytime OR you can complete certain task .. which should be available at all times like the trainer is.

In any event where,

- options are either a challenge [ complete X task ] OR Pay X amount of Gold + SP

Here there is a slight anomaly because Gold + SP can be paid ‘any time’ making it a forced cost, while challenge is NOT available ‘any time’ .. both should be available ‘any time’ else the cost becomes a Forced payment for skilled players who have the ‘capacity’ to complete the challenge to get the reward but are hindered by TIME ..[ randomly, this can be compared to concept of trade post .. pay more if you want it ‘now’ ]

THIS goes VERY MUCH against the PRINCIPLES of GW2 that players wont have to WAIT for TIME to do ANYTHING in the game .. whole EDGE of MIST was created so that players dont have to wait for a CHALLENGE

Right now waiting for a challenge to start for a trait unlock or penalizing player with gold sink for just missing a time slot .. is .. not correct and should be corrected.

Shadow Arts: Resilience of Shadows – Stealth you apply reduces 50% incoming attack damage (does not work against condition damages)..

this is NEVER better than Shadow’s Rejuvenation .. it heals direct AND condition damage !

Trickery: Bewildering Ambush – Stealing applies 5 stacks of confusion for 5 seconds.

This should ALSO have CD on steal like Sleight of Hand .. else its very weak as grandmaster.

Resilience of Shadows isn’t supposed to be “better” than Shadow’s Rejuvenation. It has a completely different use, mostly team support (think downed cleave reduction – more so than what a guardian can give out via protection). Bewildering Ambush probably isn’t of much use if you’re in WvW and have Perplexity available to you. In PvP however (where we don’t get to have Perplexity runes, and for good reason), it’s a really strong trait, at least in theory.

Resilience of shadows offers nothing Different.. either you heal yourself when you are in stealth thats around 350 a tick with rejuv OR you take half of direct damage with resi.. and full condition damage.. The thing is, it OVERLAPS the usability of rejuvenation .. for example, you spoke of cleave attack, as thief I have many better options to handle such situation than to sacrifice a full trait to get half direct and full condi damage… now if it was some trait which enhanced something else, it would have made some sense.

About perplexity, you dont have those right now.. twitch.tv said after 15th April, runes and stuff will be common all over, so there will be all runes in spvp too i think.. I am surely waiting for that to troll in spvp ! ^^

Can thief no more be used to contest enemy keeps ?

I tried following but the enemy keep just would not get contested ..

.. I went to enemy keep, used shadow refuge for loads of stealth, went to the door, dropped caltrops on the door [ that doesnt take stealth off] , then hit backstab on the door to come out of stealth .. obviously, all the guards near the door attacked me, so shadow stepped away for reveal debuff to go off .. used dagger pistol stealth for safety .. .. by this time, 30 secs pass and the caltrop skill is refreshed .. so generally ran around dodging a few players who were there, again went to the door, hit it, dropped caltrops… ran away .. I tried this MANY times, .. BUT .. on mini map, the keep just would not show swords as contested .. checked for 30 secs delay before the swords appear etc etc .. what am I doing wrong?

or , for a thief, what all he can hit to contest keep? [not talking about siege weapons] and how much dmg is needed to be done to say door, guards etc?

Any damage will contest the keep. 1 attack is fine.

I think the time was 30 seconds before the white swords show up (WP is contested immediately) , but I could be wrong on that one.

Are you sure hitting the wall contests a keep, I dont think it does, and I am not speaking about using some siege to hit walls from afar .. I am a thief and I want to keep the enemy keep contested for as long as possible… generally I run using cloak and dagger on enemy structures because I move 50% faster in stealth , but I have not seen say SM with open WP getting contested because I was running hitting cloak and dagger on external wall ..so I am 99% sure that using cloak and dagger on keep wall doesnt contest it either.. could u be please way more specific? thanks..

I have few specific questions regarding this..

What contests enemy keep?

Hitting the door? .. how many times? how much damage?

Hitting the guards which are at the door? .. how many guards? how much damage?

Hit the patrols around the keep? ..

And after I do something of the above that works to contest enemy keep, after how much time does it get contested? .. its surely not instant ..

Common ! I totally understand change of glory system, but total loss of glory boosters which are still remaining is kind of unfair .. please do think of some way to give some benefit back to players .. especially for those who have purchased glory boosters using gems etc .. no doubt its pre declared that glory will be nuked, but glory booster should not just be deleted .. may be convert them to something lower timing other boosters .. may be 15 min wxp booster or 15 min karma booster etc .. or something easier u can think of .. but plz dont nuke my remaining 200 glory boosters to vapor ! i really cant do 200 hrs of Spvp when so much PvE and WvW content is out ! .. be fair ! [ to me that is ^^ ! after all i am a thief ! =P ]

As I am approaching the 2,000 hrs mark, I agree completely…

Never had a precursor drop.

Never had a ascended drop.

Had perhaps 10 exotics drop in all that time.

Most valuble drop a dye worth 40 gold.

2nd most valuble drop a exotic worth 3-4 gold.

RNG sucks big time in Guild Wars 2. GW2 is just plain unrewarding.

If you care about rewards why bother with GW2? Your just wasting your time…

Btw I never AFK. So the nearly 2,000 hrs is real active play time…

Never had a precursor drop.
Never had a ascended drop.
Had perhaps 10 exotics drop in all that time. ..

What about Glory and booster.. Help me plz

1. Nope.
2. Did you miss the glory to gold conversion NPC that we had during the Wintersday living story? Buying Wintersday presents to sell them on the trading post used to give a good amount of gold per glory. Otherwise, you can spend the glory crafting dyes to make an okay amount of gold if you’re not interested in leveling other toons. Have you purchased all the cultural armors for PvP? In your situation, I would personally recommend you hold on to your glory as there might be a chance that another NPC like the Wintersday one is added before they finally get rid of glory.
3. You should use your glory boosters now (they stack up to 8 times, I think). There shall be an announcement before they decide to get rid of glory and glory boosters, and you should have enough time and opportunities to spend the accumulated glory before the finally get rid of it.
4. Nope.

Hello,

On twitch.tv interview a couple of weeks back, pvp team said that they are going to nuke glory and glory boosters.. then kodan npc was added with [gold+glory] items.. especially the level up scrolls 1.5k glory and 20silver and 20 slot bags for 6G and 6k glory..
I have a few Qs regarding this..

1) Is there any other npc to spend glory at to get items that can be taken to www and pve .. [ not talking about standard spvp item glory vendors]
2) I am not an avid pve player, but dont want to waste the 3 mil accumulated glory .. whats the best recommended way to spend glory? [ I will be just playing my current 4 all full exo lvl 80 toons, so i really dont need lvl up scrolls]
3) Importantly, what about glory boosters? Will they be totally destroyed? .. I have 200 of those >.<
4) Is this change happening with upcoming 4th feb patch ? If yes, then I just have a couple of days to act =( .. please guide me ! thanks =)

Hey !

The color of boons is White on Yellow background.. The number of stacks indicator number is also in white .. This is visual problem .. eg

Might boon with one or eleven stacks is difficult to see ..

Such is also a problem with many of the small symbols ..like ready mantra etc stack indicator number color..

Please think about more contrast color or increasing the size of stack indicator number font.

mesmer entry and exit portals should be of diff colors .. easier to see in zerg which is 1st and which is 2nd one .. especially when turning corners .. [ just color change, no functionality change]

food and utility buff expiration indication… eg like a crit bubble popping up ..or something more visual .. or audio like .. hmm.. i am hungry again .. etc.

Hi , i had seen it in some other game .. minipets run around and collect the loot .. makes them somewhat useful rather than just extra pixels running round .. can gw2 pets pickup gold and loot based on white blue green yellow etc? customizable?

that would be kinda cool ..

Also, Now I have a different worry .. after edge of myst comes out, its going to solve the www que problem BUT its going to create new problems .. the www happens in wave pattern .. on weekends there are ques and rest of the days most BLs get unmanned etc.. adding one more infinite instance map will ONLY solve some problem for weekends when EB is on que .. even then not all BLs are on que etc

So whatever the new mechanics edge of mist has, should be applied somehow to current maps rather than putting in a whole new map, but at this stage thats too late.. everything has been done..

So, its should be more INSTANCE based to take a castle etc .. like taking the tower of nightmares, the attackers have to clear floor by floor to take whole castle , or the castle lord should be on 3rd floor or such .. rather than just go in the circle and stand to cap ..

below is JUST a raw idea.. Owner of SM use supply to POWERUP some orb or such which keeps protecting the SM magically .. like may be blizzard or poison cloud etc .. permanently ON .. and it needs supply to feed .. so some of the SM owners will have to feed it supply every say 10 mins or such to keep it alive ! .. while the attackers have to first break the magic shield .. may be some mini NPC boss .. so that the castle becomes ‘attackable’ .. then inside it needs to be cleared from floor to floor !

right now its still zerg run zerg win thing.

ascended armor crafting …. too much for wwwers.. drops should scale with wxp levels like in fractals, they scale with fractal levels.. else its VERY difficult to get full set ascended at the price and crafting that is needed .. crafting should not be forced onto us. tx

Hello,

I am wvw player only, I dont do crafting and fractals …

The way ascended weapons are crafted are account bound and is difficult for wvw player to get as compared to pve players.

Will ascended armor be as expensive as a weapon? because after all 6 pieces need to be forged for every set.

Similarly, is there a cheaper way for getting infusions for wvw players who dont do fractals ..

May be use the edge of the mist map as FRACTAL MAP for wvw players and give us rewards according to our WXP level .. just like fractal has levels…

Is it MANDATORY that ascended gear be account bound? Because I just pick up and sell stuff to get lots of gold by running zergs etc and it will be easier for me to buy ascended armor pack and trinket set off auction house.

..Are missing.. for www /pve and dire amulet and newer runes are missing in spvp. …

Symbol of the Deceiver, Jade Wind Orb, The Master’s Special Serum are there but they are Dire Rabid prefix n suffixes .. I am trying to find trinkets with dire dire attribs.

IMP: None of the changes suggested below change the balance and are ONLY visual in nature; as I feel some of the indications mentioned below are required but are a) not present b) are less readable c) less informative or usable than necessary.

Battle Log:

—Kindly give better sorting out options such as different color when damage being received while ‘downed’ ,
—Clicking on attackers name should show only attacks by THAT attacker and filter rest of attackers rather than a list of every attack received etc ..
—Clicking on a certain skill name should filter off all the damage received by that skill etc .. in Spvp, game gives visual breakdown of dmg received.. this will just be a text port to game-log. Etc ..
I would go one step ahead and request a command to export it to .doc or .txt file , but I know thats asking for way too much, but as you can see how important it will be and useful to evaluate the battle.. now I would support my point by saying that as “FIXED WEPS” are already available for testing in Spvp, such features like better battle log will ENHANCE the ‘testing’ ability given by the game. Of course, these are just suggestions more than exact requests ..

Icon Visuals and Indications:

No doubt anet is concentrating on cleaning up the old text description of many skills and traits and is a very beautiful thing, but one thing that has been overlooked is better VISUAL indication of some important things which many players miss out in heat of battle or running in a zerg etc. .. a few are listed below

— When Food or Utility expires, it should pop up showing such, it can be anything graphical like say u see a shield breaking when aegis gets hit, or someone loads vulnerability .. similarly, that icon of apple and spanner should pop up and break in half ! .. something like that

— Some skills like thief’s 2nd skill of shadow trap , mesmer’s 2nd portal skill.. should make the icon reddish or blink or such when thief moves out of range or it should fade out or start blinking etc when say toon reaches the last 1000 units of range etc… think over it..

Mesmer portal ‘COLOR’ should be different for 1st and 2nd port, no change in functionality.. too many times in a zerg or otherwise it can become difficult to figure out which portal is which when 2 mesmers are porting many people or the exit port is not in LOS.

As you can see none of the requested changes are balance related, but are surely related to increasing visual gaming experience ..

Hey,

Never liked crafting, but because inventory is filling up with pink raw mats and not yet having heart of right click—-> destroy, decided to do some crafting..

Thought Artificer is cheapest as per gw2craft site, read a bit on wiki, and saw that essence of luck doesnt really combine to give more benefit .. A crafter reaching 500 should be able to make items better by combining them .. so 4 basics should make one that gives 50, not 5, similarly, its a good idea to give BONUS benefit to CRAFT.
Eg. Artificer 500 who makes potions should get 15 or 30 mins MORE time when he uses it because he is master of that art .. same goes for huntsman 500 gets MORE time on sharpening stones etc etc .. fair ? .. else why should I be a crafter? I would buy stuff from AH anyways , but now the game is sort of forcing me to craft by account binding ascended mats .. why cant I sell those on AH .. AH is a part of the game itself ..

Destroy Shadow Trap Problem

With recent patch changes, the skill [Destroy shadow trap] from [Shadow Pursuit] trap which is a STUN-BREAKER.. has been made channeling or has 1.5 secs cooldown. This is defeating the ‘stun break’ function .. as most CC are of 1 sec, it makes this stun break useless as it takes more than the stun time to break out of it. In tests I could not break out of the stun using this skill before all the damage was unloaded by enemy tester.

I totally understand that for balance issues, you dont want thieves to teleport out of battle to far off distance, but can you fix it in someway without taking away the stun break ability of it or shift the stun break ability to some other skill ?

This is less of balance and more of a thief mindset .. as a thief I am not supposed to start 1 v 1 .. rather, I wait for opportunity .. when 2 are dueling, thats when you GO IN, do massive damage, GET THE KILL OR GET THE HECK OUT .. .. he helps if he wishes to help .. only if there is a booty to be found .. a thief usually runs SOLO .. a thief should NEVER blow a skill to save someone other than himself … a thief .. should lurk in the shadows .. at all times .. even in the cities .. a thief must be subtle .. a thief must make his presence known by his deeds .. which needs a good stun break !

P.S. In other words, gimmi back mah freaking stun break ! xD

OK ! I know ! I know ! But ! still ! hear this one out ! =P

Now !

A small Five TRAIT slot bar ! Above the minimap .. far right side ! .. which shows me .. my TRAITS ! which .. I can change on the fly when I am out of combat ! Just like I can change the skills by that small arrow above the utility skill slots .. [ of course only trait lines which have been selected .. exactly like utility skills which have been unlocked ]

So in simpler words, access to trait setup on the fly easily like utility skills !

Right now it takes too many screen space to change a trait on the fly while running..

Gold sink reset option to WvW skills may be a good idea.. there is no real need for those points to be permanent.. rather like resetting trait points, it could be a good gold sink, because when one is on offensive team, he can pay NPC to allocate www skill points to go after guards and other hostile npcs etc, but if one is on defensive duties, one could pay npc to trait them up better for siege equipments for defense.

GW2 has broken new grounds in MMORPG, I think here is one quick concept which has not yet been very famous but may be very interesting, and VERY EASY to do..

Currently all the character AUDIO comments are SELF related .. like when a toon gets swiftness boon, he says something like "accelerating " in case of an asura.

Suggestion: – A few Audio comments by a toon when he passes near an event or another player in combat or such .. not every time, just a few times to make the self audio dialogues more ‘community involving’…

Example: -

[ Ok, this is just an example with no creativity .. more of a concept ]

Asura male passing near :-

- any Event ring .. when he is near by it he can say something like – " ah! whats the imbalance ahead..should I balance this …imbalance" .. or something in that tune..

- any other toon fighting a mob … he says something like…. " stand fast soldier .. you will not stand alone ! " .. of course, it would be kinda funny if toon says such but runs away not helping ! but heheh .. u got the idea !

so such self audio quotes based on what is happening AROUND the toon .. like currently all self audio quotes are based on what happens TO the toon .. [ And I am not at all saying remove one to put in the other !! ..just additions!! ]

Hey.. many skill icons which have long cool down or remaining charges should show the count down timer or remaining charges more clearly on the bottom skill tab itself along with the small icon that appear for some skills. eg… mesmer mantra charges could be MORE visible if they are also shown on the main skill tab after charging up the mantra .. similarly for thief, shadow trap after putting it down, should show the 2 min countdown timer before it expires. Mesmer entry and exit portals should have different colors [ no change in functionality.] … some indicators in the game are kind of too small to read or their colors are too much same with background icon colors.. eg charge up mantra on cleansing .. the small white 2 on the charge indicator icon is very very tiny to read.

Anyone knows if arenanet has changed its game progression policy from new skills and traits and no gear tier grind, as was said during game release; to standard MMORPG progression of gear tier? somewhat a time tested strategy by most games? especially with ascended weapons to be included, of course it is safe to assume that ascended armor would be the next upgrade .. crafting has been buffed to 500 .. will the level cap be raised to 100 in the future or such? any such mention anywhere in any interview or such?

M1) no need, you can use portals both ways. It’s not actually entrance/ exit. Instead it needs a timer and a range indicator after you laid the entrance.

M2) That’s why subtitles always have a fill color and a border color. ANet prefers to keep it easy … We’re just mesmers … we deserve it.

I think you missed all points totally. Please re read .. No change in ‘functionality’ is suggested. Its just all ‘visual indication’ which is currently ‘not present’ for certain skills listed above or is ‘hard to read’ on certain graphical icons such as mantras.

[All GUI, nothing of balance.]

Mesmer:

1) Portal should function the same but entry and exit portals should be of different colors.. if you think it affects balance, let enemy see them both as pink.

2) Mantra charges indicator numbers on the small icons which indicate remaining charges should be of better color combination to appear more clear.. right now they are mostly white on white.

Thief:

1) The range indicator red dash under steal icon gets mixed with red color that generally outlines the lower action panel when player enters combat .. and can be confusing as its red on red .. plz give some other better range indicator color or just paint the whole border red when out of range or something such…

2) New cooldown of 120 secs on shadow trap should be seen somewhere.. preferably as a countdown on util itself after one puts down the trap..

Hey !! I am running mesmer trait Mender’s purity in inspiration IV with Saffron-scented poultry soup as food… removes condition on heal .. Now other than buffs like regeneration, strictly speaking, say no buff is on, you have 2 conditions on you and the food is not on 10 seconds cool down.. and you heal.. will it remove one or both the conditions? ..

Update: Tested it.. it works.. you can see actually first condition getting removed and may be after a say 1/10th of a second later, the 2nd condition gets removed.
I believe that it will remove two conditions. However, lemongrass poultry soup is a better choice in very nearly every situation, because the -40% condition duration is far better than 1 condition removal every 10 seconds.

Hey Mate ! Thanks so much for quick reply .. I totally agree with -40% condition duration.. no argument there, just testing some other stuff, for that, I just cant confirm this on my own as in pvp one cant use foods.. so was trying to see if 2 conditions get removed with mender’s purity trait and saffron poultry soup.. any idea which mobs can load 2 conditions which last for say upto 3 secs or such to test? thanks.

well, it wouldn’t be such an issue if the configuration was kept seperately to the local.dat, but since it is :< i’ve resolved to having to set the graphics and sound sliders back up after each major update.

any time i’ve left the local.dat after a major update i’ve loaded in either had one of the following

*black screen
*hung sound
*game soft freezes opening a config menu

Agreed. I think there is some rights issue when local.dat is being queried which are not yet being addressed.. I think trading post is still has a bunch of bugs eating at it. I found some logs where there were errors regarding local.dat access.

But yea, I think anet wont fix it till that big feb end patch they have planned or such.. Also, mostly I have done everything in this game and now losing interest in this game at a very fast rate.. lets see how stuff is when the feb patch gets released. thanks a loads for your help info and time.

you actually lose very little settings by deleting local.dat

and you should delete local.dat any time theres a major update anyway >.> it prevents alot of issues.

Ok, I had never manually deleted local.dat before any update, but I will keep that in mind. Also, I keep a copy of gw2.dat file after every [successful] update just so that if something goes wrong, you wont have to download the whole game again.

About losing anything by deleting local.dat file, I understand that little or more is lost, thats more of individual opinion. It does bug me, and thats improper troubleshooting.

try deleting your local.dat and gw2 temp files.
Could also try VPN services like WTFast or Battleping 20min trial to see if it helps.

I still have following issues with above troubleshoot:-

Deleting local.dat file takes out things which disturb other settings too. I understand its a troubleshoot but its half a troubleshoot as I lose all the setup options. Also, as breaking down of trade post has “irritation” quotient, so does deleting local.dat file and re arranging options every time I log in has the same “irritation” quotient.

VPN services are extra cost which I dont want to bear. [ Neither should I have to] Also, 20 mins disconnect will not work for me on www as our server has waiting time.

Can some arena net technical guy come here and explain it to me what exact problem is? I am willing to mail you all the logs and screenshots.

This is a arenanet software issue.. kindly let me know what the exact problem is.. As per the previous post, all the ports are free, UDP/ TCP-IP nothing is blocked. All the rights are given to the program. Still, without use of external software like vpn, or changing local.dat everytime, cannot be the solution to this bug. [ This game is intended as “no grief gaming”. Trade post has been a grief issue as the bug just refuses to die.]

Hello,
Many times, when I log into the game and open trade post, it fails to show the amount of GEMS I have. When this happens, trade post loses most of its functionality. I cannot sell items from my inventory to trade post.. nothing appears on that screen, I cannot see anything on the Order History tab, the trade post items have an icon but they fail to link..no description appears on mouse over..
Now, after googling around, I tried following troubleshooting :-
1) Updated root certificates of Windows 7 to latest .. did this many times.
2) I dont have firewall and antivirus .. and I keep default microsoft firewall OFF, so no problem there. No ports blocked or such or no program is interfering with GW2.exe accessing web.
3) I run the shortcut with ADMIN rights.
4) Installed and re-installed the game several times.
Even after doing all of the above, trade post does not work MANY times.
This can ONLY be fixed by completely exiting the game client and relaunching it and hope it works.
As you can see, this can become pretty irritating on WWW especially if there is a Que because I have to exit the client if I have to use trade post. Now I am not a pve player. WWW is the only thing I play. So kindly let me know what I can do, or which log files, screenshots etc I can mail you or post here .. so that I find some solution and make sure that the trade post does not glitch out. It would seriously be very helpful.
