I do have that Lavasoft file on my computer, working on removing it, apparently it’s not as easy as just hitting delete. The thing runs with pretty much everything that’s running on my machine, including windows explorer.
The problem started Monday when I tried to log in. There was a little patch to download, but my internet connection died during the process and was out for 20 minutes or so. When I got a stable connection again, I tried to update again, but to no avail, the client would just crash few seconds after starting to download the update. So I uninstalled the client, and tried to reinstall. It was going fine up until about 180,000 files remaining, then it crashed. And it crashes whenever I try to restart. I uninstalled and tried to reinstall again, same problem, crash when it reaches 180,000 files remaining.
At that point, the game is playable, and I can actually get in game and even download every map from in game. I tried putting the exe file in a dedicated folder and remove the setup part from the name, but that didn’t help. Am I gonna have to download each map “manually” in-game? A solution?
So what your saying is that because they are reluctant they pay 50 and early adopters pay 100 or close to that. I think that mostly the issue. One might say will you enjoyed the game for so long but I am sure that people would paid 50 3 months ago are not getting refunds. If they do that would be interesting.
Yeah, I could feel the pain of a guy who bought the base game like 2 months ago (I think you’re eligible for a refund under a month.) Now, as I’m clocking over 4000 hours on the core game, I can’t find a reason to complain myself as an early adopter.
Well, why do they get it for free?
The rest of us had to pay for the base game, and now they’re giving it away for free. It’s a rip-off and a half, this is.
I don’t know, I kinda like the idea of having more new players, it’s good for the game.
It’s basically what it comes down to. They offer the base game for free to new players who would be reluctant to pay $50 for the expansion and 50 more for the base game. But the way it’s worded in the prepurchase screen makes it sound like vets have to buy the core game again and that it’s included in the price of the expansion.
I’m not sure what you guys are complaining about. Norn ranger, the puppetmaster’s first, I had the chance of discovering Tyria through his eyes, filled with marvel and excitement. Together, we brought down Zhaitan (though, was it really us?) But it wasn’t all fun and games, mind you. Fighting the Lag Monster in Lion’s Arch, utterly incapacitated and constantly wondering if I was still alive or just not aware of my timely end yet, being called useless in the Mists,… However, I was lucky enough that puppetmaster found interest in that show off of a warrior and borderline emo necromancer. Nowadays, I spend my days in early retirement, hanging out in all the hip places, drinking mead after mead in the finest taverns of Divinity’s Reach, boasting about my past successes and generally enjoying life while the youngsters are out saving the world. Occasionally I am pulled out of my daily revellings because “hey, my puppetmaster friend who just started playing needs some jewelry for her new 80.” Which I’ll admit isn’t much of a job, but the crafting stations are never far from the finest watering holes.
I say, let the young ones do all the heavy lifting. It keeps them off my lawn, which is a plus. I’m only wondering about one thing. There’s talks of giving us staves. While retired, I’d like to say I don’t need a walking stick yet.
A happily retired ranger.

With the plane crash story lol I mean ok it was a tragedy and we know that a lot of people died and some players relatives was there . I’m really sorry you have all my sympathy . But seriously why does it matter if gw2 did an April’s fool about planes and stuff I mean I work in an aircraft I travel a lot and I’m really loving this plane thing please don’t ruin it for the rest of us . We all had relatives die in different ways does that mean playing necro is offensive because he’s raising the dead ?
This logic is just invalid I’m sorry .
There’s no logic to trolling. Trolling aims at a different goal than making sense.
Ok so we’re swamped on the first page of this forum by outraged people who think this ‘joke’ is totally inappropriate. Recent events aside, I know that it takes a fair while for an idea like this to come to fruition, and as insensitive as it may be, there’s one of two things I can think of that can be done: 1) grin and bear the wrath of all the offended, or 2) shelve the idea for next year and just do nothing for this year, and announce why it was shelved, citing that recent events would cause a lot of people anger/grief/<insert emotion>…
Now, can we get it straight from the dev’s… what was the purpose of this year’s April Fool’s day joke? It’s themed like something from the early 20th century with flickering images, sepia toning, dulled sound, etc. I’d like to find out what the motivation behind the idea for this year’s April Fool’s was.
My first thought was the anniversary of the beginning of WWI. When it actually began is irrelevant but this year will mark the century of the ANZAC’s, for instance.
Anyway some clarification on the theme would be great, thanks.
Handful of people kittening in the forums doesn’t make a lot of discontent.
With close to a hundred rants about this april fool airplane mode and 98% of them negative, I think you should reconsider this prank. Do a hotfix and either remove it or allow players to turn it off. If you don’t you’ll probably see a marked decrease in your customer base tomorrow.
You fail at statistics, as many people who like it, if not more.
As a fan of drones, which are the future of warfare as everybody knows, I’m offended that ranger pets, necro minions and the such aren’t included in the joke.
Even more than Anet’s pretty amusing April’s fools, I wait for the unbelievably kittened ways people are gonna find to complain about it. This year doesn’t disappoint.
Seems like another troll that got rekt by a competent necro with full LF in 1v1. Everyone knows necros are easy targets in teamfights and most of the time, a liability to your team. Although when left alone to free-cast, they are a huge problem but isnt that true with any ranged prof?
This.
Well stop playing 40 matches a day. Do some hotjoin, if you really can’t do without playing all day and night. Or… bite the bullet and take the hate.
Well you have to live with it for now. Matchmaking in solo queue is just random. I’ve had streaks of 10 wins, often followed by streaks of 10 losses, most of the time it just evens itself out. It’s like coin tossing, though, the more you play, the more you approach a 50% average. Kinda sucks, I guess. Also there’s not that many premades out there right now, anyway.
Problem with going for a win/loss ratio is also that mathematically, it’s not really possible to keep it up in solo queue. Say you’re a really good player. That means you have 1/5 chances of being a strong team. If the 4 other guys are horrible, no matter how good you are, you’ll lose. So that’s you here, depending on how lucky you get, gearing towards an average between 50 and 70%, leaning more and more towards 50% cause the more you’ll play, the more the odds are gonna even themselves. It’s like a coin toss. Toss it ten times, you might get 8 heads, 2 tails, toss it 100 times, you’re more likely to get around 50 heads, 50 tails. Of course, premades can raise that potential, but then again, if they’re gonna benefit from grouping, maybe there should just be a premades arena and a solo arena cause those guys get an unfair advantage from grouping. So all in all, if you solo queue, 59% isn’t bad at all. Statistically, unless you were born with a shamrock in your kitten, you can’t do much better. More points for beating a high ranked group, that’d be the beginning of something.
(edited by Lydell.8713)
Stupid to hate on you. You have a lot of time on your hands, hopefully just this weekend and are able to do 182 matches in 3 days? Good for you, since that’s the best way to get high up on the ladder. You’re not half bad, too, if you sucked, it would be more frustrating. Think about getting some sleep, though. For your own health.
Very annoyed, yeah. I levelled up an alt to 80 using tomes that I had collected through pvp a couple months ago… Didn’t even know all that much about the changes made to traits. And here I find myself with a level 80 that has no traits available unless I whip out a ton of gold or go on an excruciating egg hunt across the entire map.
As a result, my mesmer just sits there on the character selection screen, watching me with pleading eyes while I pick others to play instead.
That’s cruel, Anet. Think of the alts.
I own a G602, not a 600, and love it. It doesn’t have all the buttons, but I use my SteelSeries Merc keyboard for that anyway.
What I wanted to chime in with is this: everything I’ve ever heard about Razer mice is that they break. They don’t hold up. They’re poorly built. This comes from both anecdotal evidence (people I know) as well as reviews.
On the other hand, Logitech mice seem to last forever. I usually go 5+ years between upgrades, and even then only because of fancy new technology, not because the mouse broke.
I’d second that, I have a G600 and it far outlived the Naga I had before it. Plus the buttons on the side are easier to find without looking because of the way they’re angled.
On the other hand, my Naga wasn’t the 2014 version, which I don’t know much about, so can’t judge it.
Hope it’s not to announce an expansion. Who needs to pay for a couple weeks worth of content? Also hoping there’ll be some fresh stuff for wvw. One can dream…

“Weasel out fix” : make a set of zerker armor and trinkets, keep that in your inventory and link it to your pick up team when they gear check. Keep on rolling with your own stuff. They’ll never know the difference and one day you might even find a use for the zerker stuff.

Being forced into the position of killing an entire village was just… distasteful. Even though it was a ‘memory’ and we were supposedly acting as another person, having to physically participate in that fight left everyone on my team feeling very sick.
Maybe that’s what you were going for, I dunno, but it marred the storytelling for us. It is one thing for a player to make choices that are less than ‘heroic’, it is another for a game to force a player to act like that.
(Tack on that the PC and Jory’s reactions completely missed the maipulation that was happening, and just described it as Caithe being in some ‘dark places’, and it really felt, well, yucky.)
I found it rather well done. You got to keep in mind that Caithe doesn’t know Faolin is on the way to turn evil like we do, there, so not suspecting that she likely pushed the centaurs to attack them. When that happens, you, as Caithe, are talking to that centaur in his tent/hut thing.
Just a suggestion for the devs, when a 4v5 occurs in solo tournament, have the match reset automatically, find a 5th guy from queues to fill up the unlucky team and restart when it’s back to a 5v5.
Pretty sure that’s been suggested already, though. It feels so obvious and unbalanced matches are usually unfun for both teams.
Edit: AND IT HAPPENS SO OFTEN! sorry for shouting

I’ve experienced it in MM just now. Guesting solves the issue. Also had the same problem a few days ago on another character in Lion’s Arch. Same freeze on loading followed by client lost connexion to server, same workaround, guesting. I’m on Blackgate.
It isn’t any normal lag. It is a DDoS Attack (Distributed Denial of Service Attack; google it if you don’t know what it means, but basically means that an outside source is mass-spamming the game’s database with traffic, causing lag and server shut-down). That outside source appears to be this guy: https://twitter.com/itzchF.
This attack has not been confirmed by ANet, but it has been confirmed by Carbine, who makes WildStar. WildStar is also being affected. All of NCSoft’s games are being affected. Carbine has said that they are looking into it (on their twitter page), and that it is in fact a DDoS attack.
Blizzard is said to be getting the attack as well, with WoW experiencing similar issues.
It’s been confirmed on Twitter now :
Guild Wars 2 @GuildWars2 · 12 min
Sorry all, we want you back in #GW2 and we’re working on that! It’s an outside attack on the servers, so hang in there with us. ~RB2
Not in 20 minutes you’re not going to solo it.
How do you know that? Open world events scale dependent on the number of people, and remember that in zergs it will be full of gs mesmers, bearbow rangers and zero dps cleric heal guardians. Now put one optimised berserker player, or even 5 (so the event doesn’t scale up) and I’m pretty sure if it’s like the arah giants they’ll blaze through it like its nothing.
For some reason, this one doesn’t seem to scale. First time I’ve seen it, I was with 5-6 people. We pounded on him for a good five minutes and only manage to get like 1% of its health before the storm ended. Second encounter, surrounded by 20+ people, he did go down. So, no, no way you’re gonna solo that one as it is right now.
In the first Entangled instance, my character tells the NPCs that he thinks this is the work of Mordremoth.
Where did I get this information? Is this a result of my having played through the Crucible of Eternity, somehow gleaning the name of the Elder Dragon through Subject Alpha’s use of the Teeth of Mordremoth skill? I know the dwarven texts mentioned approximately six dragons, but has my character discovered some ancient text that revealed this particular dragon’s name?
“Where did Uni go? Oh, no, Venger took him!”
“Global warming again? Thanks, Obama.”
“Village destroyed by evil, sentient vines? Must be Mordremoth up to his old tricks again.”TL;DR: I don’t understand how my character knows Mordremoth’s name, given that I only know it because I’ve seen it tossed about on these forums and on Reddit.
The others know about Mordremoth too, they don’t react like “Mordrewho?”, they gasp. Meaning that the dragon is common knowledge in Tyria. Especially to someone like your character, whose job is basically to stop dragons. Know your enemies.
So pretty much a female character who pretty much had has no story development is killed for as a plot device in this LS. She is involved in only one mission, and then is sent to her death off screen in the next mission. Pretty much this character was created to die for the A-team to feel emotion, but for me I feel nothing because she has as much development as the thousands of npcs I kill everyday. This is unlike the mentor you get in your PS who you actually develop a relationship with, and then dies in a heroic way. Personally I do find this type of story extremely lazy and somewhat offensive.
I don’t think it’s meant to make you feel for Belinda’s death as much as for Marjory’s loss.
This is something I have been wondering since last night.
Yes I read the part that the machine has been improved nor did your character start speaking crazy like or start killing his/ her teammates. While the new Divinty Edge don’t view your character to be crazy but that doesn’t mean the people in the meeting will view our characters to be sane once it has been explained he/ she had entered into Omadd machine.
The point of this topic is will the wellbeing of our characters will be address in episode 3 of season 2 or maybe they will add some insanity like moments in the next installment? Example like our character mistaken npc for enemy similar to the spore? Worse to come would be seeing illusion or vision of Scarlet!
It would be an interesting plot development if the meeting with the leaders went horribly wrong due to our character mental state and had become a fugitive!
I seriously doubt they’d go for a road like that, but I sure would love it if they (throroughly) explored the consequences of sharing Scarlet’s vision for your character. There’s their chance to take the story in uncharted MMORPG storytelling territory. But yeah, maybe I’m expecting a bit too much complex writing.
Oh man, tears, tears of laughter.
Forget you. I’m da bawss.
I like being called boss as well. For too long we’ve been (insert rank) or “friend” or even just not mentioned in GW1 that much since we aren’t the focus.
Now with this group, I’m in charge, so I don’t mind this feeling.Talk to to Jennaaawwwww (like a boss)

Micromanage zergs (like a boss)

it really gets on my nerves.
i don’t mind our little NPC friends. i quite like them. i just can’t stand being referred to as “boss”, or “leader”, or any cheesy attempt to put me on a higher level. hell, even if i for some reason am their leader, don’t have it rubbed on my face all the time. i can understand kiel saying it. i don’t understand my supposed friends calling me “the boss” as if i was some mobster.
my proposed alternative: this goes in hand with my other complaint (that the dialogue-heavy parts don’t really have any animations and you can picture the VAs inside their booths talking because the characters are just not moving, the fort salma scene was one such moment), but animate the NPCs more to represent who they’re talking to.
use the “turn left/right” animations to turn the character to the player (or as close to the player as you can if he’s one of those kids that keeps running around during story) or hell, just snap them (would look lame though), but make them face who they’re talking to. this would allow writers to use more second person, which in turn means using less titles.
point is, i don’t like being called boss, and i don’t like that the characters outside cutscenes are glorified dolls (you know, like when you play doll, or the boy equivalent of playing doll, you don’t really move the characters, you just use different voices).
Had a pretty good work relationship with my boss (who retired this year, too much info for this post.) To make it short, we talked to each other on a friendly basis and I would call him “boss” all the time, to gently annoy him. Think it’s the same idea here.
… who was inside her golem the whole time.
nope you are just assuming that. your character was unconscious for sometimes, besides, “HER”.
Yeah, I don’t know. I really liked the story in this “episode”, that bit was the only part that (very slightly) bothered me. Mostly cause I went through the same logic as this thread. First I thought he was talking about my character (who’s a norn with so much hair, if it happened, she probably looked like the bride of Frankenstein), then I wondered if they weren’t talking about Taimi. But Taimi doesn’t seem to really react about it. If it was aimed at her, it would have been made more obvious by making her respond to it (“No it didn’t!” or “Oh, you big stupid norn.” Instead, you’re left wondering who they were scoffing about.
But yeah, minor writing flaw, the whole was still rather entertaining.
… who was inside her golem the whole time.

Need a map like huttball in swtor. That is all.
I’d say problem isn’t that it’s too long, it just takes too long to reset. So, today I’m doing solo arena, my connection dies before the end of the match. When I log back in, here it is, no pvp for 21 hours. What?
I’ve been pvping lots recently, since, say, last week. Like 10 solo queues per night. I couldn’t even recount how many times I’ve crashed during that week, but it mustn’t have been more than two or three times. It’s nothing out of the ordinary. And it wasn’t three crashes the same day either. It’s a rare occurence, and I’m penalized for it like I’ve been ragequitting or afking? No, that’s not the way to do it. I’m all for penalizing quitters and afkers, but at least reset the count every 24 hours or so.
They changed to spider queen in AC you say? Well now I’m thoroughly confused. When I said (and I’m sure many others) that stacking against the queen was an exploit-for the very same reason; bosses simply do not use their abilities, I got infarcted for wrongfully accusing players of inappropriate behaviour in the game. Now after many many months it’s fixed out of the blue which means it was an exploit? Obviously, because if it was ‘working as intended’ then there would be no reason to fix it…to do the same bloody thing some of us were saying it should do and players were exploiting the fact that it didn’t in the first place.
Then wtf did I get infarcted for?
You got infracted for accusing people of using an exploit, duh. Doesn’t matter whether what you were accusing them of was wrong or right. Same thing as someone accusing a specific player of hacking in the wvw forums or whatever. You may report them, but no public slandering in the forums, that’s how Anet rolls (which is a good thing, internet people would be so fast at grabbing the torches and pitchfork at whichever occasion.)
Not quitting, just playing a different PvE MMO and looking forward to spending less by using a subscription.
Staying with GW2 for WvW until they break that beyond repair.
You say you want to spend less and your signature says you have 52 alts. Irony? Altoholic in denial?
Non! Quelle idée absurde…
My server is way too awesome, winners of season 1, true underdog heroes of season 2,… We get around.
(edited by Lydell.8713)
I suspect the 3-worlds thing is one of the main reason if not the main. Mind, there’s other problems, but where, as Anet stated early on, it would have been a good way to solve the issue of one of the servers being way too strong compared to the others, it just solve an imbalance by replacing it with another imbalance if the opposing teams 2v1.
I actually experienced the issue in spvp recently, I was in a team of 4 facing a team of 3. My team was winning easily, until halfway through the match, matchmaking kicks in. I’m transfered to the other team and the 4v3 becomes 3v4. My new teams caps two nodes, then three,… you know the story. Note that like in the case of a 1v1v1, the total amount of players here is uneven.
While that did something about the issue of the early 4v3, what it really did was to flip it upside down, in the end, there’s still a frustrated team that lost unfairly. They’re maybe even more kittened off, since they had the golden carrot of the win in sight and it was removed as unfairly as it was given to them in the first place.
So as long as Anet considers that the only response to stacking is the possibility for servers to turn it into a 2v1, it’s not gonna work.
I love the music as is. Going beyond the usual clichés of in-game music heavily underlining what’s happening on screen to the point of being obnoxious. The subtle touches style we get here is nice and refreshing. Maybe not catering to some (young) folks who feel nothing if it’s not loud, but you can’t cater to everybody.
There’s a solution for you guys, though. Music volume to zero > push play on your favourite music player. Black Sabbath, I find, works wonders in Orr.

It requires adaptation.

So, what do you think? Am I right or no?
Well, since you ask, no, I don’t think you’re right. No to raids, no to mounts, and yes to continuing to build an mmo that’s not like all the others out there.
Imo this is best outfit ever…by far….
No! Stop! I won’t let this pass. Don’t listen to him. That is NOT the best outfit ever, by far. Lies, propaganda, manipulation of the worst type. It’s not the best outfit ever. It is, in fact, the SECOND best outfit ever!
The game would become much CLEANER and BETTER. No need to thank ME.
You gotta quit WITH the random capitalized WORDS in your text. I understand you THINK it makes people focus more ON what you’re saying. However, being a little bit tired and unfocused right now, my retention of the actual content of it resembles this : "UNDERWATER COMBAT SUCKS… NOT… ANIMATION… DETERMINED… THANK ME. "
Excalibur, Durandal, Hrunting, The Holy Hand Grenade of Antioch,… Legendary weapon is a concept that holds its ground in fiction. You rarely ever see a “named” armor, though.
TL:DR
Some people think housing is a bad idea.
