I know, this is not a new topic, and has been asked for many times, but i need to address it again:
As i am constantly switching weapons, also from 1-handed to 2-handed, i am
getting mad at my inventory becoming a mess. It can become very confusing,
if you have not much time for the weapon-switch (upcoming fight).
The problem is when switching from 1-handed to 2-handed, that your
mainhand-weapon will take the place of your 2-handed weapon in inventory and
the offhand-weapon will take the first free slot in it. Preferably at the
very end, where your loot is.
Right now, i am using the hero panel for weapon switching, but this window
is so huge, it covers a big amount of the monitor and you can´t resize it. I
would prefer to have it always open.
To become weapon-switching less annoying i would like to suggest …:
- Make a 20-slot bag in that every item has its one and only place. If you
equip a weapon out of this bag the place stays free, until you de-epuip it.
or at least:
- Make the hero-panel resizable (or add a smaller version like the trait-/
build-panel in pvp) and let the “weapon”-filter show main-hand AND off-hand
at the same time. Otherwise you have to make another annoying click on the offhand-weapon to switch the “weapon”-filter.
or at very least:
- Make a “20 Slot Fractal Exotic AND ASCENDED Equipment Box”, so you can equip one of it at the bottom of your inventory. Then you can leave some space free in it and your offhand-weapon will be sorted in the same Box as your other weapons. So you just have to deal with exotic/ ascended loot in this box, but that would be a very rare situation. ;-)
Well, that bridge is waaaay too powerful for the dungeon’s level, as discussed in this thread.
We’re hoping they nerf it soon.
Yeah, i know. It is totally overpowerd and i beg for a nerv. The worst thing is, that it doesn´t have a handrail.

I joined CoF P1 way after midnight. They had already started and were doing the acolythe-event.
I was drunk as hell and didn´t even manage to cross the brigde! I died 2 times there.
Then they kicked me. I still don´t know why?! ;-)

- time-gated crafting
- time-gated materials for crafting (dragonite ore)
- forced to do parts of the game you did not want to do (e. g. world bosses,
temple events)
- nothing out of fractals is needed for crafting armor/ weapons for fractals
(logic?)
- pushing crafting to 500 (ahhh what a pain in the kitten!!!)
- now you suffocate in dragonite-ore (silverwastes …)
- dropped weapon-boxes/ armor-boxes in fractals are 99% useless, cause not
berserker
- chosen (and maybe bought) armor-skins on exotic set became redundant
- scripted agony

- Cut-scenes not skippable (not even if you play it again)

- they don´t need to tell us details, but a rough roadmap where the game is going
- many of us are in standby-mode (because of the good sides of the game and the (unused) potential), so just one official and honest comment, if there will be new dungeons/ fractals in 2015 and we would have a basis for making our decision. Let this wating loop end, pls.

An open question for anyone who’s been playing the game long term:
Looking at the future of the game, what excites you the most?
I see now future for this game. It will be lost in triviality, if the devs stick to the thought, that LS is all that players want.
It´s just a matter of time, when someone releases a good alternative to this game. (I am already searching for it.)
What upcoming features and content interest you?
There are no upcoming features and only LS content to be released.

But a rotation just manages cooldowns of those powerful abilities. So that you can use them as often as possible and don´t switch to e. g. Rifle or Grenade Kit and have to realize, that your those abilities are on cooldown.
Xyonon: Good hint with grenade or bomb filler. And Blunderbuss can just be left out, when fighting more than 3 targets.
Maybe it´s just me, but i feel a lot more confident, if i can use a pattern that assures not wasting too much damage.
And maybe i am just too new to engineer (reached lvl 80 yesterday) and realize in a few weeks, that you are totally right. :-)

I think it is important to have a good rotation, that one should aim for, but could not find anything for the engineer. So what about this:

i might be wrong, but looking at your numbers, D/F-DPS is not too bad regarding burst damage.
It has more DPS than staff and S/F-range and is only 4-6 % weaker than S/F-melee.
Only S/D-range and S/D-melee does way more DPS than all of the other sets.
But:
- Lightning Strike is only single-target
- Fire Grab has a very high cooldown and might not be ready for the next burst
- If you are able to cast Burning Speed into a wall, your AOE-DPS of D/F will rise significantly on a low cooldown (i use it often as a mini-FGS-#4)
- if your conjured-weapon is on cd or someone stole it (won´t happen in organized groups) you won´t do much damage after the initial burst of S/x
Maybe i am just trying to find arguments for D/F being a good weapon-set even out of fractals. I am quite good in fading out reality. ;-)
I really like the playstyle of this weapon-set, cause it feels, like this is the way an ele is meant to be played. Being able to use the needed skills out of every attunement and immediatly switch back to deal sustained damage.
Another question, if you don´t mind:
In your damage numbers at the top (D/F 6-6-2-0-0: 11580 DPS), was D/F-DPS calculated only with AA or also with Lightning Hammer? Because it should be equal to the other sets after the initial burst/ blast in the 6-6-2-0-0-builds when using Lightning Hammer. Right?

There are some things, that could be improved regarding visibility.
In many open world fights, like during the temple events, you are not able to see even the enemy.
It is covered with thousands of effects and you can not even tell, if you are behind or in front of the enemy.
So it is impossible to recognize any tells of big hits, that you could easily evade with better visibility.
It is also contrary to some game mechanics. Cause some classes deal more damage when attacking from behind or the side.
One should be able to switch off the effects of others, maybe except combo-fields. I don´t need to see the boss glow like a supernova, if there is this little burning-icon on his bar.
Another point is, that i am often searching for my mouse pointer, so that i might whirl in the wrong direction or miss my own combo-fields with ground-targeted skills.
It would really help to be able to make it full-bright and change its colour.
In Captain Mai Trin Boss Fractal during cannon phase, you can get damaged, although you are standing clearly outside of the red circles.
There seems to be something wrong with the damage indicator and the area of effect itsself.
This can also happen, if no other red circle is behind you. So it can´t be a problem of being hit by the trajectory of a farther projectile.
Another problem is, that these attacks deal way to much damage. In a level 19 fractal as ele you get oneshot by them.
This cannot be intended, as it leaves absolutly no room for any mistake.
In combination with the bug mentioned above, it gets really annoying, cause you might die, although you didn´t even make a mistake.
Ok, comet works with going to the end of the flame wall, looking up and one step back or forward, then cast it.
Well, are you still able to aim the comet on top of yourself?

No I didn’t. Your point was that stacking is the most effective way to kill off a mob with melee, which is true. I’m just arguing that that makes for incredibly stale, boring gameplay and I’d rather see something that requires actual coordination and teamwork.

I’m amazed at how many people here actually enjoy the stacking mechanic. I feel like a lot of the community here doesn’t really care about playing the game, they just want to burn through content to get rewards as quickly and easily as possible.
And I dunno, if you are at that point…you may want to play another game. If the game is no longer fun to you, and all you want to do is burn through content to get rewards, there just doesn’t seem to be any reason to play to me.
Why don´t you even consider, that exactly this is fun for some people? (doing dungeons as fast as possible)

Hi all,
i want to decide for myself, if the cost-benefit ratio of ascended armor is it worth to craft it.
I think, that Anet has implemented ascended armor really poorly. These are some of the things that are holding me back to get it:
- they look ugly
- i already have a nice looking armor-skin-mix and don´t want to change it
- i don´t want to pay for making it look like it is now
- i don´t enjoy temple events or world-bosses
- i want to sell exotic-drops or throw them in the mystic toilet and not salvage them for globs of dark matter
- i don´t wanna be a forest warden and take care of the woods in low-level-areas
- i don´t wanna be a dwarf and work all day in mines in low-level-areas
- i enjoy FotM less since the update, so i think i won´t need the slots for agony-resistance
- i don´t like crafting A after crafting B, C, D and E as an requirement for crafting F and G that is only half of A and i have to … once per day …
- i want to play how i want
BUT, i couldn´t live with being too much “not optimal”. I usually don´t play with perfect groups (did i ever?), but i have the claim to be as “optimal” as possible.
So i took the calculations of effective power as help for a descision (see screenshots) and want to know, if i did it right and if it made the right conclusions.
What i´ve got it this:
- full exotic zerker is less than 2% weaker than full ascended zerker
- if i take only two ascendend pieces, it is less than 0,5% weaker than full ascended and less than 0,6% weaker than the most optimal armor-setup
What i realized:
- to optimize EP you have to get to 100%-crit-chance as near as possible (but don´t pass it)
- if a ranger with spotter joins your group you may have to switch precision-stacks to bloodlust-stacks or precision-food to power-food.
So, i possibly could live with exotic armor being less than 2% weaker, but i think i will craft two ascended pieces.
I am optimistic that i may survive doing the temple-events for those two pieces, as i have done it before for some ascended weapons.
I know, that for most people of the dungeon-community nothing of the above said is new in any way. Only for my own sanity if have to ask you:
- Are my calculatinons correct?
- Are my conclusions correct?

Well, thx for clarification for aiming the comet correctly. Although i have to complement your description.
If i move to the end of the fire field my camera already needs to be angled completely down, or it will miss.
If i move to the end of the fire field and angle down the camera only now, i have to do a step forward and backwards, or it will miss.
Considering the above, i am able to land the comet in the fire field 100%.
I also searched for a way to do the same with dragon-tooth, while looking down. But this will work only 90%.
It will only work 100% with the described way in the guide. Looking upwards, move a bit and activate.
I don´t think, that you will lose a blast finisher with the lightning hammer, when stacking might with weapon swap, because you will do it only pre-fight and switch back to S/F immediatly.
And i think it is much easier this way, because you only have to aim the dragon-tooth correctly and don´t have to bother about comet. But i think that is a matter of preference.

i have had an lvl-80-ele for quite some time, but started playing her seriously about two weeks ago.
So i really appreciate guides like yours.
I don´t know if it is common knowledge, because i did not find the information in your guide:
I realized that you can easily stack 21 might pre-fight with your rotation for S/F and then switch to S/D for another earth 4&5.
I tried this, because with S/D i am not able to aim the water 5 correctly and i ended up with only 15 stacks might.
If you clear them or not doesn´t shorten the way you have to run, when someone dies. The broken check point appeared after the last patch. So still a bug.

The lfg tool doesn´t function like it should do. Please re-read the quote of the wiki.
If finding a group nearly does take longer, than the encounter itsself, something is wrong.
Why should I be punished for wanting a group that fits me? If someone isn´t as nice as me and is ranting at me, I have the right to leave and shouldn´t be punished for that.

The camera zoom seems to be broken. You can´t zoom out enough anymore, so that you can see the skull above your head.
This conflicts with the planned mechanic of this fractal.

In the gate-room dead bodies are not more able to keep the buttons pressed. This will keep many pugs out of fractals as they don´t know or cannot handle the right tactics.
Furthermore, not all classes have the same amount of block-/ invulnerability-skills. You reject these classes from fractals, although you stated every class should be able to do any content.

At Rabsovich, dredge are able to shoot through the car, while players aren´t.

You can no longer respawn at the check points, and are forced to respawn back at the starting area. This rather annoying if one person dies on the trash run to the end boss, since they then have to run all the way from the start again. Just a huge waste of time for no reason.

The lfg tool prevented me yesterday from joining groups after being part of two groups.
I used the lfg tool and joined a group for AC Path3. After completing, i left the group and about 3 minutes later i joined another group for AC Path1.
The group filled up with professions and player-levels i didn´t want to run with. So i left the group and wanted to join another one.
But that was blocked already blocked by the lfg tool. After waiting 5 minutes, i was able to join a group again.
Same thing a few hours later. We completed some FotM 20+ with a pug found with lfg tool.
We wanted to do some 10+ after that and joined another group via lfg tool. As the group didn´t fit our demands we left, and guess what? We could not join a different group, because of 5 Minutes block.

So why am i blocked for being part of 2 groups in total and leaving only one group, cause the requirements did not fit?

I recommend re-posting this is the bugs subforum – the fractal weapon box issue was answered in a number or hours when posted there.
I’m use to the dungeon subforum being ignored but typically the on-going LS subforum has dev feedback, at least in regards to perceived bugs. I’m not sure what’s going on, but they are really letting the wound fester by not giving a reply.
I think this is a good idea, or at least worth trying.
For every single issue or bug we could create a seperate thread, and bump them, if they are not answered.
So we observe their rules and they should not be too glad about the bug-subforum flowing over.
Something like this:

Uninfused Rings continue to drop through level 49. An infused ring at 49 is
bad enough, an uninfused ring is a slap in the face. This is obviously

The new recipes are account bound. I have both recipes now, each new recipe
that drops is useless for me, these should be sellable. It wouldn’t hurt the
market for the Runes/Sigils since they are very limited by Shards which are

Krait still get stuck in the ceiling and you have to hope you can get far
enough away from them to reset them or else your progress could be lost.
Granted this is the first part of the first fractal, but it is still
technically a game-breaking bug and ought to be fixed out of principle.
- Bug: FotM, Cliffside Fractal, arm seals do not properly reset
The arms seals do not properly reset to 2 chanters on each side in case of a
wipe. This is mildly annoying in the 30’s for a good group. This is pretty
tough in the 40’s and will only get more difficult for unorganized groups as
progress into the 50’s and beyond begins to happen. This was supposed to
have been fixed months ago but that promised change appears to have not
happened and been forgotten.
We had the same. The farther seal reseted correctly.
They should update the appearance of the gate. So noone can say, you haven´t been warned.

Although i´ve learned, that leaving and joining another party even in the second or third fractal can save you some time.
Also, i am not good enough to finish encounters solo.
@OP: Very well written! Like you, i also learned a lot of the so called “elitists”. I use the builds and gears described in nikes and brazils and whoevers builds. Otherwise i might be just another pug.
But its very hard to convince people of something that might work better. I dont even get it done in my guild. Guardians gear up with clerics and Eles try to be healer, sticking in water attunement.
What i really do like about the dungeon forums and its inhabitents is the irony and sarcasm used here. It saved many of my days.
