Learn a couple of crafts and get them up to 100 or so. Cooking and Jewelry are good ones for levelling because they are relatively cheap – you can buy a lot of basic cooking ingredients with karma and jewelry doesn’t need the expensive mats like blood, scales, etc. to use. Max out both and it’s worth +20 levels, but even just going to 50 or 100 in each should get you to level 10 or so.
Or you can do what I usually do with alts, explore your “home” city to 100%, the open world to about 40%, then go to another starter zone and do the same, by the time you’re ready to go back you should be level 15 or so.
Do both at the same time (gather mats in the open world, use what you need to craft, sell what you don’t to buy what you still need) and you can tackle the level 11 instance at level 20 or so and have a much easier time.
I sure as hell hope by the time your world completion is at 40%, you’re higher than level 15.
Also, can you put Soul/account bound items into the banks? :U
I was wanting to create my own guild for the sole purpose of the guild bank, and I’d like to know the exact steps to do so, and whatever else I need to know.
Thanks.
Ah. Makes sense. I ended up just rallying up a huge group, and we took it
I went and got some, and I have NO clue why you said to get them. They are terrible. It doesn’t lose agro, and it leaves if you move or try to commune. They are absolutely 0 help.
Anyone have an open map, or an idea that works?
Where are they at?
Sorry if this is the wrong section, but does anyone have Balt open? Tarnished Coast has it closed, and I only need the Skill Point at the statue to complete the map :x
Thanks, guys!
I’ve never had an issue with my camera. I really have no clue what you’re talking about o.o
Lol. Stats.
I can buy all the weapons I want with the same stats, dude. I’m going after the skin.
Nobody would go through the trouble of farming that for some stats.
Sorry, I meant powerful :x
And I really may just give up on it entirely, if it will take that god awful long to farm them. It hardly seems worth it.
Why did they put such a terrible farming rate in the game? Seems unfair, I guess.
Hey guys, was just seeing if anyone has any tips on farming Potent Bloods. I need 250 for my Lidless eye, and I’ve got like.. 15 so far after farming Karkas. I’d like some help
Was farming Karkas with a friend, and she was getting almost no bloods compared to me, even though she had 123% Mf and I only had 50%.
We changed, and started killing the Skelks she was rolling in powerful and potent blood.
So, how bad does it get, and, with enough magic find, could you counter it?
Those feels, bro. I know them too well.
My first Charr was a Necromancer, whom I got to level 30 and quit.
Then I made a Charr Guardian, thinking the heavy armor would look better. I deleted him at 50.
Aaand finally, I made a Charr Elementalist. Got him to 70. Deleted him..
I should learn my lesson, but I don’t. I dislike how armor fits on Charr. I dislike how they all look so much the same, and all the male faces, much like asura, are all horrible except one. I would like a more customized Charr.
I think it was. If it wasn’t I still like it that way. I like how it throws you into two minds, should I attempt to miss this and risk getting multipe damage or a down or should I just take the hit straight on.
Risk getting mutli- damage? Don’t run into it, and you won’t get hit. There is no “risk” involved. Jump over it, or dodge into it, and you’re fine.
And there doesn’t seem to be a Rabid weapon that is exotic..
Rabid is the hardest to get, if I recall correctly, isn’t it?

Hey guys. I just needed some quick help picking out which armor I needed.
I run Scepter/Dagger, my utilities are Epidemic, Blood is Power, and Signet of Locust. I deal with lots of condition damage.
So, which type of armor is best for me?
I’ve done around 17 runs so far, and I’ve got nothing. Nor has anyone I’ve run with.
I’m very curious to know what causes agro to a particular character.
When killing the centaur boss in Harathi, he almost constantly targets me. I’m circling around him, on a ranger, so I’m far away, and he turns as I turn. He constantly shoots fire at only me, and causes AoE circles where I run. It’s fantastic for the other players, they don’t have to worry about damage, but it’s extremely annoying for me.
What causes this?
I generally fight him everyday, and it seems that when I fight him, I’ll end up only looting a few things out of his chest, I’ll come back the next day, and before the boss is even spawned, his chest is invisible, but I can still loot from it. On two occasions the old chest completely overrides the new chest, and I just get offered the items I turned down previously, instead of being offered brand new items.
Currently, I run a D/D thief, but I need a break from it. I decided to go to Necro because I had one when I first started GW2, but ended up abandoning it due to some issues I had with it, I feel like I didn’t give it a fair advantage, so I’m back for more!
Now, my request is for you guys to help me pick weapons and maybe a build.
I’m used to the thief and mesmers constant movement and insane mobility, and from what I’ve seen, Necro doesn’t have too much mobility. You sort of just let your minions tank your damage for you, and hit from afar. I tried D/D, but wasn’t too impressed.
So, what build and weaponset is good for some leveling? Mind listing the pros and cons of them? Any tips you guys can give would be awesome, thanks!
Sorry, I’m running D/D and my current build is 17/0/0/0/15 with 6 and 4 being my major traits.
I’m just curious.
I’m level 42 currently, and I seem to get my kitten handed to me more often than I’d like by anything with more than 2 mobs.
I really enjoy my D/D thief, and I just recently hit 40, so I feel like it is time I really start building and getting everything going.
I’d like some help for a build.
I was planning on going Conditions, but was told it isn’t as good as it used to be and that a lot of people run Crit builds now. So, I’d like some opinions on that, and some builds, if you wouldn’t mind.
Thanks for the help!
Lets say that is correct, then, technically speaking, I should have been able to shoot from anywhere on the area from the first picture, and landed where I did. It is all flat, it is all unobstructed. But, it was almost exactly where I was standing.
And there was no “clear” path to that ledge. To get there you must finish an event that blows up a wall and creates a walk way, but we had not done the event. There was a wall creating a block between me and the point I shot to.
I don’t think it is that simple. If you stand anywhere else than almost exactly where I am, it teleports you to the wall, but you’re at the base of the wall. Even going by your logic, the ground would be the “closest” platform, and I should have been put there.
My friend and I were attempting to do the Loreclaw’s Expansion jump puzzle for the monthly, but a person had just killed the Captain, and the wall had re-sealed. We waited about 10 minutes for the chest to respawn so we could spawn him once more, but to no avail. I started looking around and found an interesting bug/glitch/something I don’t understand yet. If you look at the pictures, the first one shows where I was standing, the 2nd is where I shot, and the 3rd one is where I ended up.
Technically speaking, it shouldn’t have worked. There is no “direct path” between where I was, and where I went. Yet, there I was.
This being said, my friend and I began experimenting with iArrow, trying to figure out how it worked exactly.
My findings and hypothesis thus far is;
1. It is not “target bound”. Meaning, if something is blocking your arrow from hitting where the target is located, you will hit where the arrow hits, not your target. (Example: Standing on the stairs in the Raven Lodge located in HoelBrak, I can clearly see my target located on the floor below me, but there is a slight ledge infront of me. From where I was standing, my arrow hit the ledge, not there floor, where the target was, and I was teleported to the ledge. But, if I took a step backwards and allowed my arrow room to sail over the ledge, I teleported to the floor.)
2. My hypothesis for where it allows you to teleport, and where it does not allow you to teleport is that there is a maximum distance that your character would “normally run” to get to the teleport location, than cannot be passed.
(We tested this on the stairs, once more, and found that at a particular point we could not teleport to the floor, but a single step to the right, which put us at a distance that was “less of a run” but was the same elevation, we were able to teleport down to the floor without an issue. We did attempt this in different areas, and they all seemed to be around the same distance. The only exception we could find is firing directly infront of yourself on a level terrain. It seems that distance is extremely short, but shooting down or up, the distance was all the same.
What are other people’s hypotheses on how it works exactly? Could we possibly get a Dev to tell us the exact algorithm?

I wanted to use my Super Backpack skin on my thief, but he is a low level currently. I wanted to know if when he hits 80, and I get a better back piece, if I can just transmute the skin and keep the 80 stats.
I think a good idea, would be to have the look of kits change depending on the look of the weapon you have equipped.
Well, the fact I’m leveling my thief currently, so he is still low level, I do not have stability. I’m not talking about people who want to kill it, as I said, I understand they need weapons and an attack, I’m talking only about their insane range for people just walking by, with no intention of attacking it.
I don’t see how typing like that is arrogant. I actually get extremely annoyed, and most of the time, drop anyone’s credibility, if they start typing like they are four years old. It’s not hard to type correctly, and I fail to see why typing correctly is arrogant.
In all honesty, I wish that Guild Wars 2 wouldn’t “Auto-Capitalize” names when you make a character. That would save me the trouble of trying to communicate with people who can’t talk correctly.
The kitten audio recorders that are everywhere in the Norn and Charr areas.
They have FAR too much of a range. I understand that they should have an attack, but if I’m not even near it, just passing by, I shouldn’t be attacked. Then, I keep on walking, and still get hit even when I’m about 2x even MY attack limit. That’s just kind of silly.
They’re also placed, sometimes, in extremely inconvenient spots. Narrow passages, for one. I’ll get knocked into a wall, or tree, and not be able to move. I’ll just tank the hits, that hit, and kill, quicker than the effing mobs in the area.
Tone these back, please.
The floating head guy’s laugh is Bowser’s exact laugh.
Does anyone know of any daggers with particle effects that are visible, besides the legendary? I love my D/D thief, but I can hardly even see my daggers. I’d like them to be a bit more noticeable.
“Stealing” money from other players is stupid. It is either:
1.You steal from their literal gold, and they lose some as you gain. Which is stupid and unfair.
or
2. You just “steal” gold from them, where they do not lose any, but you gain some.
That would be even more stupid. All someone would have to do is have a friend make a character in a different server, go to WvW, and stand there and steal from that character constantly. That would generate money without any effort.
What if we’re just too gangster to wear it at a normal level, so we do that silly “straps fully down so the backpack is dragging against my kitten as I walk because I like the feeling of being spanked due to childhood issues that I refuse to tell anyone” thing that all the kids in school these days do..
I think Feedback should form a bubble around the selected character and follow them. It is always annoying when I cast feedback and they’re out of it before it is even done casting :x
I’d like to see an “Off Topic” forum on here.
Most forums will have one, I’m not sure why Anet doesn’t.
It won’t be a big change, but I think it’d be a nice addition.
You, sir, are a very good troll.
1. I dont see many Asuran Thieves. Why is this? Im only level 4, id like to change my race now, if I am missing something. Is it just people don’t like their looks?
2. What is a good weapon set and build that is good at leveling?
3. Anyone have any good videos for PvE I can watch and learn a little about?
I’m considering rolling a thief because my Mesmer has begun to bore me.
I’ve got a few questions first, before I put effort into this.
1. Are Thieves good at PvE? I tend to stick with PvE a lot.
2.At what level does a thief really start to take shape? Mesmer was around 80.. that was painful.
3. I’ve been told, and seen, that thieves really don’t need to swap weapons often if you go for D/D. Is this true?
4. What is a good build for PvE D/D?
5. Any other opinions/comments/wisdom/cupcake pictures?
6.(An After thought). Is Sword/Dagger viable? I enjoy Shadow Step.
Thanks guys.
Along with other words that describe my current GW2 mode, unmotivated seems to be a large one.
~I feel like there isn’t end game here.
I understand that we get Legendarys, WvW, and Ascended gear.. but that isn’t End Game for a casual player.
At 9 PM, I get off work. I come home, spend time with my girlfriend until she falls asleep, I silently slink off to the computer room and log on to Guild Wars and usually play around 3-4 hours before it is time for me to slink back to bed and slip, hopefully, unnoticed into bed and sleep again before I wake for class and work the next day.
3 hours a day is not a lot. I am a casual gamer at its finest. I hit level 80 on my Ranger, and played with it a little. I got bored and made a few other classes, only getting them to around 50 or 60. I ended up making a Mesmer and getting him to 80. This took me a long time. Now that I’m 80, again, I , once more, face my delima. I have nothing to work towards.
~Getting a legendary takes time, money, effort, dedication. Things I’m unable to do because of my title as a “casual” gamer. I refuse to log on and spend my 3 hours online running from tree to tree like some sort of cat. I want to log on and enjoy what I have accomplished.
~WvW is cool, but for someone who isn’t a PvP fan, nor someone who wants to get on RaidCall or TeamSpeak to coordinate with players, it isn’t a huge option. This sucks, because it seems this game completely revolves around WvW. When you talk about builds, 97% of the time people talk about, and refer to, WvW. When I first picked Mesmer and talked about builds, I had to stop people and tell them this is PvE ONLY so many times it wasn’t funny.
~Ascended gear, in my book, equates to obtaining a Legendary. It takes time, effort and dedication.
I’m really not sure what I’m looking for here. I guess some advice on what I can do, if anything, to relight the fire for this game. It is a beautiful game, the lore and graphics are stunning. I love my Sylvari, but, there isn’t much for me to do.. What do you guys do when you hit this slump? Do you force yourself into something? Do you go elsewhere and play something else? I need some tips, I guess.
They’re boring.
I can’t help it, but most of them are absolutely boring.
Even the legendary is outshined by other, non legendary, weaons.
I don’t understand why we can’t have neat looking staffs.
This makes me want to pick another build for my Mesmer and stick with that one, even though I enjoy the Staff gameplay :x
Am I the only one with this feeling? Or do other people just, in general, dislike the staffs?
Not if more people use it because it is cheaper than the normal cost.
I don’t generally walk around PvE with a team. I tend to solo, Unless I’m running a dungeon. In that case, I’ve got my dungeon build. I’m just looking for something for Solo PvE roaming that can put out some nice damage without the need to swap every other attack.
@osicat, I’m not saying it’s rude because he disagrees. I’m fine with people disagreeing. The tone he used made it sound like he thought i was an idiot. That, in itself, is rude. That’s what I was pointing out. I’m also aware that all builds can be BETTER with swapping. I never said they couldn’t. I’m just looking for one that doesn’t rely on it.
See, that’s one of the reasons I kind of dislike asking questions that go against the norm. I get rude “in your face” answers.
There are viable builds that do not require swaping. My Condition Staff is one of them. I’ve done perfectly fine getting to where I am and not needing to swap. It does what I need it to. There is no way that there is not a single build, other than my current one, that doesn’t use both weapons.
This is also written from a PvE point of view. I’ve got my PvP stuff down perfectly fine. I would like to find something else for PvE, because, honestly, the Bifrost isn’t tickling me the way a Legendary should, and I have no urge to get it. I’d like to have something that doesn’t use staff, so I can get a nice looking Legendary.
I was in a party with some friends earlier today, helping a friend complete Orr, and I ran into something that I’d seen before, but never really thought about.
One of the guys in the party almost completely refused to use Waypoints. He wanted to run everywhere. I know some people want to so they can see the beauty and what not, but he just doesn’t feel like paying that much for travel.
My idea is to make a ticket that allows for unlimited Waypoint travel for one week, at the cost of 1G.
This is still a decent price to pay, but if you add up all the waypoints you use over the course of a week, it adds up to more than a gold, I’m sure. This would allow people to travel cheaper, and also get more people who don’t want to pay a huge amount to buy one and make for a bigger Gold Sink.
So, currently, I do staff and run a condition build. That’s pretty fun, and it gets the job done, I was just curious if there were any other really good builds I could look into that mainly only use a main weapon. (Meaning I don’t use the weapon swap button.)
Thanks for the help.
(Before you ask, I just dislike swapping. I could get used to it, I guess, just, right now, I’m not a huge fan of it. I’d rather stick to one weapon.)
I suppose you could do that too. I was thinking pistol for the phantom and stun. That’s nice for shattering.
