one of the top most annoying things with this game is how hard it is to get them to respond to and deal with the stupid things. like the camera move button targeting crap.
this needs fixing
Can we seriously get an option to disable right-click targeting? That is insanely frustrating in PvP particular.
I believe that already exists in options.
I might be wrong, too lazy to check it out.
Nope. Still hasn’t been added. There’s a huge thread in suggestions even since release and Arenanet hasn’t done anything.

kitten Arenanet. seriously?! Can you not address this thread? 6 pages over 200 replies, let’s get a response on the major interface issues!

Please, Arenanet, comment on this thread.

Anyone tried Forge?
Forge is great but doesn’t feel like an MMO what so ever. It’s strictly PvP with unlockables as you progress. The pvp and combat is great, I really enjoy it. But it’s not an MMO.
The point was how the combat feels. After all GW2’s pvp is nothing like an MMO either. And as Anet has shown GW2’s pvp is not an MMO.
How the hell do you know? The OP never specified any of that so I was letting him know my thoughts.

There’s a shader in the graphic settings that removes a lot of the highlights and glows into duller looks. I prefer dull shades over hard high lighting so I changed this long ago and it solved my issue with this.
Not sure why people are complaining, but I guess no matter what they do people will find something.
Anet wanted to try a lot of new things, and paid tickets + tournaments were one of these things. Yeah, they probably had them in for too long, but they made the right move by getting rid of them. Be happy for that.
They still need to work on telling us what they’re doing, and get some feedback, but this is a step in the right direction.
It’s forums, no matter what update happens (even if a good update) someone will always whine lol.
Either way, I’m glad they do implement things like this but if Anet sees it’s not working out they will actually remove the update. That’s development.
This is EXCELLENT!! Match this with Evan’s Death Breakdown fix earlier today and it is just a phenomenal day!
The only thing that would make it better is if they announced 2v2 arena. But that’s a bit optimistic…
Isn’t that tomorrow?!

Thief, Mesmer and Ele can all break these stomps with their downed 2 skill.
Stealth finish can be countered by damaging the area.
All the invulnerable stomps are otherwise useful and on long-ish cooldown.
Ranger quickness swap is really the most OP one. Almost all rangers get this 5 point minor trait, that gives DPS boost when needed AND quick stomp on a short cooldown. As if switching pets was hard. Although if they don’t have stability, you can still use your 2 skill if you are quick about it.
No other class has such a good trait as a 5 point minor.
ya that Ranger talent seems flawed. It’s not a slot skill or cooldown (really) so it’s a little odd being there. I’d be fine with it if maybe it was tweaked to effect their skill usage but not interactions (so revives, finishes etc).
That talent point seemed a little broke when I’m on my ranger. They could even make it a trait higher into beast mastery to balance it. Demand a stronger trait line into beast, but 5 points is a little low.
Okay, both are fixed. They won’t be in tomorrow’s patch though. Fixing the vengeance and vapor form also fixed another issue that would be happening. The damage log would clear as soon as you resurrected. If you were to rally, then die a few seconds later, you would still only have logs from those few seconds. The log will still clear once you reach 100% health.
Dude you are the greatest! Thank you so much! This is something I’ve been dying for a fix, can’t believe how quick you updated it!
Evan Lesh – Give this man a raise!
When I started playing the game, I went with an elementalist, and eventually I realized the default key bindings were most defenitely not going to cut it. So I started thinking and playing around with the keys and ended up with this:
ESDF = Forward/back/strafing
R= Healing skill
A= Utility #1
W= Utility #2
Q= Utility #3
ZXCV= Fire, Water, Wind and Earth attunements respectively
I moved all the weapon skills one number to the right, since I basically moved my WASD to the right as well. So my weapon skill #1 is assigned to 2, weap skill #2 is assigned to 3, and so on.
Shift= Elite
Double tap to dodge
Autorun= 1
G = pick up/interact
Look behind = Middle mouse button
About face = Uhhh either F1 or ` (right to the left of the 1 key), not sureI wanna get a gaming mouse with at least 3 programmable buttons so I can take dodge out of double tap and put it in one of those, along with the elite skill and look behind.
And everything else remains the same
This set up feels very natural actually, I like that shift lines up better than with WASD and you open up Q & A which weren’t extra keys I had before. Very nice placements, I think I’m definitely going to give this a shot (except replacing your S & F strafing with W & R). I still can’t get use to strafes being below move forward.
Tweeted to Guild Wars again, I’m getting very involved in this fix now
I don’t do any form of ‘social networking’ online.
Anyhoo, let’s hope the response to ‘a tweet’ is not ‘a twaat’!
(had to double up the ‘a’ there due to that kitten kitten thing)
haha fair enough. I’m going to try to rally up some communication through their Facebook page & twitter. Maybe enough player response right at them will get this option brought in.
Maybe as more games add this on, GW2 will follow suit.
Hopefully so. I’m not color blind but seems slightly discriminatory without adding an option for this.
Definitely , even just for the different game variants but I always preferred it over the tournament system now.

Evan, any update on Ele’s having death breakdown after using mist form? That still removes everything that happened prior to using the mist form downed ability.
That’s lame. I can look at that too.
Awesome! Thank you for the comment!
What do you guys use for a mouse? Noticed a lot of these bindings have upwards of 5+ extra buttons. My mouse currently has 2 side extras. I’m trying to find a good brand other than Razer. Lot of problems with their devices whenever myself or friend’s have tried them.
I have a huge collection of gaming mice and I found this and this to be the best.
They allow you to use all utilities, elite, heal and movement all very smoothly while your keyboard will take care of weapon/profession skills.The only downside is the brandization on the mouse, which you can turn off in the mouse software.
Hm, I’ve seen these around. Just the WoW logo’s all over kind of put me off of them haha. One of my friends has a steel series mouse and is seems pretty solid.
I’d recommend you give Razer another try. I’ve been using the Naga for a year and a half or so without problems. It gives you the standard mouse keys plus 12 buttons which can be activated by your thumb. There is one button, ‘10’, for which I would alone buy this mouse. ‘10’ is where I naturally place my thumb and I use it for dodge. For a mouse mover using the mouse wheel for dodge requires you to move a movement finger off its button. Having it on the thumb feels natural and requires no change in finger position. I’m big on minimizing hand/finger movement and that’s why I use the Dvorak layout for general keyboarding. I try to use the same philosophy in game layouts. I’m not a purist and realize you can play effectively with a variety of layouts. Reckful, arguably one of the best players in gaming, uses ‘z’ and ‘x’ as strafe left and right which he picked up from an earlier game he played. Those are horrible keys for strafe but it didn’t prevent him from mastering a class and playing it at the highest level in a game.
I may try them again. Two of my friends had their razer break within a year too so I’m pretty skeptical of buying from them again :/. ‘z’ and ‘x’ is an extremely weird area for strafe lol, I’ve never heard of that.
Do you have any thoughts or tried Cyborg mouses? I’ve seen them around and they look like they could be excellent or cheaply made and break pretty easily.
Evan, any update on Ele’s having death breakdown after using mist form? That still removes everything that happened prior to using the mist form downed ability.
inb4 OP also claims that setting up a blinding aoe on top of a downed player is also broken.
I have no idea what your going for here. inb4?
i agree. stability stompers can still take a lot of dmg and quick stompers can be interrupted.
you can’t do anything if you can’t see someone stomping, or can’t hit the person stomping.
Exactly, at least stability/quickness has a counter. I don’t like the finishers that you or team mates have nothing they can do to stop you.
As an experienced player myself I think the issue with downed states in teamfights is the rally mechanic. Whenever a player from each team goes into downed state in a teamfight, the winning team is always that which manages to stomp/kill the downed enemy faster than the other, so that it becomes an unfair 4v5 due to the rally mechanic.
I think the rally mechanic doesn’t make sense, cause it makes the meta totally depend on how overpowered the downed state of a particular class is or how strong of an ability you are using to stomp a guy in downed state. As it is, a teamfight turns from a 5v5 to a 4v5 due to the rally mechanic. If rallying was removed, it would turn a team fight from a 5v5 to a 4v4(+1 downed player) once a player from a team is is stomped, rather than turning into a 4v5. This would give each team more strategies to adopt and accustom to.
Forexample, the team with a stomped player can decide to focus the enemy downed player (which doesn’t rally) and make the game even more balanced and fair. On the other hand, the team with a downed player will have to focus on rezzing the downed person because he wouldn’t have rallied after they manage a stomp. This would reduce the QQ about burst in teamfights and will also change the strategy on which targets to focus first in a team fight due to OP downed states or abilities.
I agree with this. It is fairly uneven. I like the rally idea and the system works…mostly. But I really don’t support rallying when you have say a 5vs5 fight, one team has 3 downed players the other has one and just because you can finish off the other team’s single player, your entire 3 get to rally?
Not exactly fair. I would be happy if one finish would rally one team mate (first one down) rather than the entire group downed.

I think to get some more attention to this fix, we should be tweeting to Guild Wars consistently to get some kind of response. Usually being that vocal tends to get the wheels in motion.
I’ve already tweeted about it once.

And to clarify a little more. I’m not actually complaining that any skill/combo is “overpowered” or needs “nerfing” so preferably, let’s get away from that discussion.
My issue is I feel these skills & combos for guaranteed or fast finishes make PvP much less competitive than it could be. I think it removes a lot of team work ( i.e. reviving team mates, timing knockbacks to save team mates etc).
OP makes it sound as if these moves were easily available to everyone.
They usually have ridiculous cooldowns. Capitalize on that and stop whining.
How about you learn to fully read posts. If you read what we had said about the Ranger, having an almost unlimited amount of quickness stomps is pretty ridiculous. One is a talent, not even a cooldown. Get your facts straight.
Hmm that is very different Raine. I’ve never seen a layout quite like that. Especially having no backpedal or turn around. Very unique! I might test around with that.
Aaron, I don’t think we should have to pay just to duel though is the point.
@razor I specifically said even team fights. So your 1 vs 2 comment, really doesn’t apply to anything I said. Try reading again maybe?
@Dejay ya thief/mesmer would break it but is anyone naive enough to mist stomp first time until they do their first stealth? lol. I’m not so it doesn’t really apply to me.
@Khisanth I’ve tried using shift so many times but just do not have the motor skills to make my hand work with that key haha.
I never noticed how serious of an issue this is until I read this thread. I always wondered why occasionally I’d de-target but have never clicked anything. It’s definitely frequent and very frustrating. Love to see this fixed.
This is funny seeing this thread actually because just today I got a email from Dark Vale Games (They created Forge) with patch notes mentioning color blind gaming modes. Pretty impressive since the game released in December and they are a fairly small team.
Surprised this still hasn’t been updated into GW2 yet.
I use the mouse to move, keeping my fingers rested on the 1-4 keys. I also bind two utility skills to side buttons on my mouse, the last utility to “R” (one key away for easy access), and dodge to the scroll wheel (incredibly useful since I don’t have to shift my hands to dodge a sudden attack).
That’s actually a very interesting set up. Right now I have dodge set to R since it’s very easy to reach from movement keys but I never thought of having it at the scroll wheel.
I don’t think that true necessarily Geopro. I have a few utilities and skills to revive my team mates fairly quickly but quickness stomps makes any skills like that just not worth taking. I almost never get the chance to actually use them. Especially when one team quickness stomps and instantly rallies their whole team when they realistically should not of won the fight.
Dejay, Rangers are ridiculous with quickness stomps because of the 5 talent for sure. My job was to just switch pets and quick stomp people on my tournament team. That was my entire purpose, stack quickness based procs/utilities and swap pets for easy cheap finishes.
And the Ele Mist form finish is pretty ridiculous too in my opinion. I’ve switched over to an ele mainly because it’s a challenging class to play and I think its way to unfair. I’m immune to damage, any knockbacks etc and can still finish someone in the form. There’s literally no counter to it.
This has nothing to do with bugs or exploits, I just have no clue what else to call it.
After playing Spvp and tournaments in particular, I can’t help but think that PvP would be much more competitive if we didn’t have these cheap ways of finishing off players of the other team. I’ve done it many times to players and vice versa. Anytime there’s a even battle with the enemy team, once a player goes down they immediately get finished in a unstoppable manner. The fight is then lost because they have a man advantage and you basically have to retreat to a new point.
Quickness Finishes is a main one. I’ve played a ranger for a good chunk of my PvP time and it is ridiculous. It’s not skillful or tactical. It’s literally not giving the other team a chance to react to the finish.
Invulnerable Finishes are another fight breaking stomps. Such as the Elementalist Mist Form stomps (I do this too, again not skillful, just a gimmicky way of finishing the player), Engineer invulnerable finish etc. Any class that can make them self immune to anything to guarantee a finish ruins a lot of the team based competitive edge.
Another extremely irritating finishes are the from Stealth finishes. Almost as bad as the invulnerable stomps but occasionally like maybe 10% of the time you can stop the finisher.
I can’t think of any others off the top of my head but those are the main 3 combos I’m use to. It’s hard to take PvP competitively when it’s almost pointless to try to revive your teammates. In tournaments especially probably 90% of my downed team mates will be finished with cheap combos. We do the same to the enemy team as well. But it’s not tactical, and it’s not team work.
I’ve read on the forums lately that apparently double Elementalists are a real nuisance, one reason being 2x Mist finishes. The only acceptable skill I consider actually skillful is Stability when finishing. But mist form, quickness etc are all fight breaking combos.

Hey everyone.
Myself and a group of friends created this guild back in pre-launch and are really trying to get new players now.
If you looking for a very casual, mature themed guild that is what we are. We play for the enjoyment of the game, be it spending two hours working on a jumping puzzle (which we did the other night) or competitive PvP Team matches, we enjoy all aspects.
We’re hoping for new players of any level (as many of us are still in leveling process) especially for the upcoming Guild Missions. Looking forward to Guild based Dungeons, PvE exploring, Spvp & Tournaments, even Guild group World vs World.
Have a small vent server as well. If you want more information or join, message or mail in-game to my Account name or character name <Zorthax Dhorn>.
Thanks!

I thought I’d share my movement key binding set up (and if you have unique types, please share). I’m constantly experimenting with what key bindings let me function the best in PvP & PvE.
My friend told me this a while back and have fallen in love ever since. I am very surprised I never have thought of it before though. I’ve been playing MMO’s for years now and it never crossed my mind so I’m sharing it in case you’ve never thought of it either.
I’ve always used WASD, as you due, but my friend pointed out. Why even use the A & D? You almost never sit stationary spinning the camera, most of my movements come from strafing and camera control. Since his suggestion I’ve been running standard Front/Back & Strafing keys but turn movements (A & D) are completely removed freeing up 2 perfectly placed bindings for Class actions.
Playing an Elementalist regularly, I cannot express how much faster I am having 2 of my common used Attunement set to the A & D keys. It allows for on the fly changes and I don’t even have to move away from my movement keys. Even with other classes, the other fast demanding skills are a great idea to place in those slots.
If you’re a click type user this probably won’t change anything but I am a heavy key binder. I rarely use my mouse to click other than camera & targeting.
I’ve also had great tips for:
- Heal Skill – Clicking in the scroll wheel on your mouse (counts as a separate button)
and even a Utility skill just placed on the standard Left Alt is a great position for quick actions with your thumb.
Anyway, just thought I’d share in case this helps anyone as much as myself!
It sounds like they had big plans for November-January, but the reality is that those months had very little to offer for PvP, with Temple and the new Paid system being the only really notable changes (invisible matchmaking to a lesser extent). They’ve said numerous times that making new maps is relatively easy, meaning that Silent Storm/Spirit Watch can’t have sucked up that much of their development time. So where did all of their plans go? What exactly interfered with their schedule when visible changes have been so rare?
Custom Arenas were taking longer than our original estimation, so we temporarily postponed the feature to get the Ratings & Matchmaking system in. While I won’t say how close the Custom Arena feature is to release. I will say that we are back to working on it, as well as Spectator Mode – as hinted at by Colin’s “Guild Wars 2 in the Months Ahead” January announcement.
Thank you Tyler for the update!
Pretty stoked about the spectator mode being mentioned too.
Back when there were people playing GW2 pvp we had threads just like that. You don’t see them anymore because there are just not that many people playing anymore.
I do remember threads like that, but I’ve never once seen a thread here on guild wars hit the 100 page mark.
I’d like to chime in here. I do agree to some extent on the transparency. There are some areas in the game I’d like to see Arenanet discuss and talk about more but they are doing a much! better job than many other developers.
However, I do follow some games where the developers are much more on top of community involvement than this, but those games are not MMO’s either. They focus on one thing, PvP as an example, so it would be easier to maintain a game looking at one aspect of gameplay and one aspect only. Here we have a game that involves an enormous world, World vs World to maintain, Dungeons, PvP etc. It’s essentially everything into one, much harder to manage.
But if you really want to see what transparency and poor community involvement is, just go look at the HaloWaypoint forums (Halo 4 & matchmaking section). There are 3 mega threads: one with 230 pages of replies with one pathetic response, another with 71 pages -same response and one with over 100 pages and not a single response at all.
I’ve never even seen a page reach that amount here, but imagine if it did and Anet still didn’t response, there would be outrage. And that is the entire halo forums at this point.
And please, do not edit my mention of halo forums, it’s on topic and I’m only proving that Arenanet is much better than most developers now a days.
I’d like to see this brought in too, +1
I’m honestly not sure what to call this but some MMO’s I’ve played give you an option of a small player Bio using the chat log. This is just a UI suggestion and is a pretty minor fix but it is very useful. Please, if this does exist already let me know because I cannot figure out how to do it.
Basically if someone types something into the chat log or whisper you. You’d be able to hold Ctrl, Alt, Shift etc one key and Right-Click the name in the chat log. This would cause the player’s name to repeat, give you their current level & class and the name of the Guild they are in (if any).
Example:
“Marcuskilgannon” Ranger, level 80 <GuildExample>
That is how it would enter your chat log (in a unique color) and you’d be able to get a short description about the other person. I’ve used this feature a lot when trying to get people for dungeons/groups etc and you can make sure the person wanting to join you is suited for your needs. I also like using it when I’m offered guild invites and I can quickly see what their guild name is without having to ask.
I believe this was in Guild Wars 1 if I’m not mistaken as well.
This is one thing they said they will never put into the game. Causes too many problems.
Scams
Gold Sellers
etc
etc
Why do so many people keep using gold sellers as the reason for it not to be added. I don’t know if you noticed, but I have never seen gold spammers as badly in a MMO as in guild wars. It’s on the forums, in-game mail, in chat logs, in whispers. Absolutely everything is flooded with gold sellers.
That would be nice! +1
I also want to see my spvp gear on character screen!
I like that idea as well!
Visible ranked rating are a pretty healthy addition to PvP. Halo did this and thrived in halo 2 & 3. Since they removed visible ranking in Reach and now Halo 4, the competitive edge and overall population of the game has been dropping steadily (already under 70,000 population daily)
