First attempt was at about 9PM last night. After about 30 tries and getting to the top once, not knowing about the lightning, I finished it at around 11:30.

I have had some crazy stacking of swiftness due to the “Auto drink Exilir B @ 75%” trait. Let’s say a fight ends with me auto-drinking and then I drink a manual Elixir B, I am left with well over a minute of swiftness.
I have recently given up the addictive drug that we all call “Speedy Kits”.
I just drank an Elixir U, so I’m out of luck.
I wanted to run a full Rifle only build, but I felt it just needed something more. I currently run 30/20/0/20/0 and it is working out great. I have my ’nades for long range pulls, clustered enemies, poison, blind, etc. (Rifle skill #4 + #2 and then Grenade Barrage is a deadly combo.) I run with Elixir H, and U with Cleansing Formula 409. So, I have 6 sources of condition removal. (I love popping Elixir B + U and then unloading rifle shots like a mad-man.)
I used my Logitech gaming software and setup a macro: “Press 1…wait…..Press 1….wait” and set it to “Run while held”. Works beautifully. I hold the key down and it acts as I’m just spamming the 1 button every half second or so.
I did have it set to “Spam 1 over and over”, but the green ground target circle was flashing like crazy and was annoying. Plus the extra button mashes were unneeded due to cast time.
But but but…..why? I’m taking away your engineer card for that one.
Iv’e noticed this, too. I usually swap back to my main weapon and then back to grenades and the backpack will reappear. Not sure what causes it.
Start your grenade spam with Grenade ability #4, then go to town!! When they get close, rifle #4 + Rifle #2 + Grenade tool belt!! Oh man, what fun.
Grenade barrage benefits greatly from the stats on your equipped rifle. That’s why you want to equip one.
What is your source of Condition removal? Just Elixir Gun #5? Do you worry about conditions much?
I see your main heal is Turret plus its combo explosion? I just tested that out, it seems like a really nice combo. You can then immediately cast turret tool belt skill to stack regen some more.
Not sure if the flame thrower will work. You need a projectile finisher in order for it to trigger.
Are you using something to extend the stealth buff timer? The smoke bomb + healing turret explosion grants just a couple seconds of stealth. That is enough for you to turn the tide of battle?
Where do you get 6 seconds from?

I guess you can say the idea is chugging elixirs and stacking might. Enhance Performance + HGH and all the elixirs (and Toss elixirs) allows me to keep 8-11 stacks of might + other boons up most of a fight.
I swap between Grenades and Rifle depending on the situation. Currently debating on replacing standard rare orbs in full “Knights” gear with x2 Superior Runes of Water and x2 Superior runes of Hoelbrak. (15% boon duration + 20% might duration)
Thoughts?
Can you talk about some of your favorite tactics, combos, etc? I see you have Elixir Gun in the build? How do you use that to it’s fullest potential?
oh dang. if that’s true good catch. that means I can add another 5% damage or some dots.

What runes are you using? I’m guessing 2x Rune of Monk, 2x Rune of Fire and 2x Rune of Hoelbrak? What about swapping in 2x Rune of Rage for one of the Might ones?

I’ve taken a break from WvW until this is resolved. It’s embarrassing.
Oh man, tell me about it. Yesterday, I was with maybe 40 others fighting Balthazar. I must have kitten him off big time with my grenades. He teleported to me and one-shot me. Immediatley upon being rezzed by someone, he teleported again to me and killed me again. This happened maybe 5 or 6 times in a row after being rezzed. shrugs
For Invigorating Speed to work….where are you getting Swiftness from?

Total spam build. Great for tagging mobs while farming and killing packs solo. Watching people run in WvW is pretty nice too.
30 Explosives – larger explosions, 10% more damage and grenadier.
30 Alchemy – 20% cooldown, 20% duration, all exlirs give might.
10 Tools – just for crit damageI use+15% boon duration, +20% might duration, +20% might duration runes.
Spamming exlir B, C, toss B, toss C, and Toss H on myself every 30 seconds gives me 100% up time on fury, swiftness and 8-12 stacks of might. Skirmishing with a Warrior spamming “For great justice” and buffing at every cooldown instead of macro my buff, I saw 25 stacks on might just for a second or two.
With just average yellow berserker’s gear and sigil of perception to pre-buff I have over 60% crit rate and 60% crit damage. Each nade will crit for roughly 1100 damage. I’ve seen my grenade barrage hit players for 8k. If people are stupid enough to stand in one spot to attack castles or walls, they get about 12-15k in damage before they know whats going on.
Not very survivable or support friendly. But kitten blows up and you see a ton of big numbers. Big numbers always fun.
I could be wrong, but Forceful Explosives only affects bombs and mines. You have no bombs or mines in your build. Grenades are grenades, not bombs.

Rifles are piercing by default, pretty legit, I love it.
So, the animation must have been fixed? Because I swear I never saw the bullets going through like this before.

There was talk that the Engineer was supposed to have a Shotgun instead of a rifle. Think about it. All of these skills scream shotgun. They just scrapped “Shotguns” and allowed Engineers to use Rifles.
Hmmm, ouch. That’s insane. Was it luck or can this person probably pull this off regularly?
The mechanics, the animations, the SOUNDS….all scream Shotgun. It all makes sense now. Engineers were going to use shotguns and they simply swapped rifles in their place.
Question on the numbers you see while channeling the flame: Those are a CUMULATIVE total of damage done, not INDIVIDUAL damage of each hit, correct?
Ahhh Mortar. I setup shop on top of a keep once and decided to rain down some pain from above. Sure, the enemy noticed me and dropped some AoE fire on me. I was able to soak up the burning damage no problem. The thing is my mortar lasted maybe 5 seconds before disintegrating in my hands. It’s like it was made of paper or something.
Wow, never really thought about it, but yeah…it’s totally a shotgun. Not a rifle.

Yeah, it was weird last night. It seemed like my GUI was just slow to respond. It didn’t seem like there was network lag. It just took a while for my skills to trigger after I pressed a button. Started happening out of nowhere.
It’s weird, 1-80 I used Elixir H. But once I got my hands on speedy kits, it’s all Med Kit from here. Switch to kit, #5, Elixir B = 30+ seconds of Swiftness. A must out in the WvW battle grounds.
Plus, I don’t think you worded your title right. The tool belt option for the Healing kit does not require you to switch to the kit. I think you have tool belt and kit confused.
When I am in a pinch, I switch to kit, turn around and book it backwards. Mashing 1,2,3,4,5 on the KB. Refresh myself and head back into the fray.
I was fighting 1v1 vs someone underwater and I was so pumped to switch to auto attack grenades. All they had to do was strafe swim sideways and every single one of my grenades missed! I thought we were supposed to dominate underwater? Extremely disappointed. I think the book is out on Engineer underwater combat.
So, are Bombs in WvWvW = suicide due to the need to be so close to be effective? What are your takes on bombs in the battlefield? Maybe use a lot of +Heal and Elixir Infused bombs?
Keyboard turn is great when you are auto running while viewing the map. Try it some time. Also its great when auto running long distances. I can make small turn adjustments without needing my other hand.
Here is my setup:
WSAD with Q and E for manual turning
R is auto-run
F is action
1-2-3-4 are weapons
Mouse side button 1 is Heal
Mouse side button 2 is Elite
ALT+1 is Utility 1
Middle mouse is my Utility 2 (switches to Grenades)
ALT+Middle mouse is Utility 3 (switches to Bombs)
Z-X-C-V are toolbelt
After the patch, I can still stack Swiftness no problem. (Switch to kit, Elixir B, Stimulant, switch to another kit) its just that Vigor will not refresh immediately upon obtaining Swiftness every time. Minimum 5 seconds between vigor refreshes.
You’re right. They should just delete the class and let everyone move to a new one. I can’t wait to spin – spin – spin.
Yay! Grenade barrage under water! We are even MORE dominant under the high seas!
Same issue here. (Game crashes eventually for me as well.) It ONLY happens during large scale battles (dragons, WvW zergs, etc.) There have been zero crashes during regular play.
The one thing that makes me so mad when using this kit is:
Skill #2 shooting into the ground and getting OBSTRUCTED message. It happens all the time if you are walking backwards while firing. I have resorted to dodging backwards right after using #3 in order to get the proper distance to utilize #2 fully.
With Incendiary Powder, my FT burns a lot! Plus there is the burn at the end of the chain. The thing crits like a mad-man and constantly spawns all the “on crit” traits.
Guys, don’t forget about the blast finisher on Shield #4 second ability!
If you want burn all the time, then get the explosive trait that adds 33% chance to burn on critical.
I’ll be taking a break tonight it looks like. I desperately want to upgrade using the TP before heading out adventuring again.
