I have seen some good criticism (and alot of bad too unfortunately) on this forum, but this is extremely tame compared to Guildwars2guru. It was my go to place before this forum was up, but not anymore.
Uh, I get that people are frustrated that she isn’t back yet, especially since many of us thought that she would be back up either during or immediately after Wintersday, but how does that automatically mean she’s not coming back? Like I said, I understand being frustrated, but jumping to conclusions like that (and it’s only been 6 days since wintersday ended) doesn’t seem healthy.
Guesting was already said
They also promised some kind of mobile app for GW2 (other than the authenticator.)
Bar Brawls (minigame promised back before beta weekend events)That’s all that I can remember.
Especially after reading Collin’s post, I wonder if they’ll start adding more mini games? Not that he said anything about them, but if they were being discussed during betas, and these next updates are supposed to focus on expanding the current game, maybe it’s possible?
Not to sound like a doomsayer or anything, but don’t believe anything that is promised until it is actually released. Otherwise, you will be disappointed. Anet has promised many things already, and we still haven’t seen them. Stuff that was promised back in beta and development that was supposed to be here on release, never showed up.
Just one example, Guesting. This was supposed to be in the game at release, and we still don’t have it. There is things that they have promised that we have never received, or things that were promised that ended up being changed afterwards.
I know I sound like a downer, but really just be satisfied with what you got now. Don’t get hyped for future content and get excited for things to come until they are actually here.
That’s not being a doomsayer at all! It’s being realistic, though I’ll admit that I am very excited about what they’ll be adding.
I made 7 gold today just doing zergs in orr took about 3 hours soooo i don’t know what the big deal is
Did you make a vid of it?
But we aren’t doing this for Anet necesarily. Now this might help us to have visual proof of what is happening, but again this seems more for us. Not to mention Anet’s not forcing us to do it. You can if you want, or not if you don’t want to put in the time or effort.
I don’t have the technical means to do this or I would. I would like to ask those who have the technical means and the talent who suffer from the DR effect, to make videos of the typical open world run in Orr, in the dragon events and submit your video to these forums showing how a series of typical days of farming goes for you.
The only things I would ask is that you must be a farmer, you must play in open world for most of the footage and you must be one of the ones affected by the DR bug or open world loot bug.
It would be very helpful if you could cross compare a typical run from Fotm dungeon to show how starkly different the drops are in that dungeon. The footage typically can be sped up for the purposes of getting to the end of a farming session to show the results of the drops in each case.
I and many like me would be very grateful as this would be plenty of proof showing the contrast and the serious problems faced with open world drops.
I’m not a farmer, so I can’t really contribute to this, but I think it’s a great idea! I hope others can get on board with this!
What “3rd” mini? o.O lol
I’m curious as well. If there’s a way to craft more than 2 I’d really like to know
Check your mail
I will, thanks!

think you’ve just missed another post of mine in another thread.
EDIT: also please stop nagging me, write about the thread argument, and not about your suppositions upon my own opinions or habits, because you are derailing the thread badly, thx
The tread title and discussion is holidays in game.
My replies are discussing holidays in game.
How is this derailing?
I’m done, I can’t have a discussion with someone who just wants to argue.
It’ll be okay.
Seriously, just report him. As far as I can tell, he’s not interested in discussion, only in people agreeing with him and nothing else, which is not what the forums are for.
@ Melonamen
You get the frame back if it fails so you can make it again. What you would worry about is wasting gold on buying the mats over and over.
Ah, thank you very much! I’m willing to risk the mats since I can farm/buy more. The frames however I wouldn’t have been able to haha.
I really want to get the endless tonics (though it sounds like it’s best not to gamble for the toymaker one), but I’ve never really used tonics before. Are endless really endless? What I mean is, can I reuse them over and over, or is it a one time use (albeit a very long one time use).
Working with a party of 3-5, a return of 35-40 giant gifts per hour is achievable, running a loop of 5 present spawns, and killing all the toys that spawn when presents are opened. On top of this all team members get these benefits and all the other benefits of additional drops including rares. Must be done in a higher level zone to guarantee giant gifts.
Do the toys drop normal items? Or are you talking about the chance for skins/socks/etc?
I am talking about normal drops from toys and from incidental mobs around the area (collateral damage). The toys do drop other things than cogs and extra gifts.
Yeah, I got a pretty cool dagger and focus from random drops coming from the skritt.
Do you guys know how hard it is to get the endless griffon tonic? I’d love to craft it, but I don’t want to waste my frame
I usually go with the Jumping Puzzle, can get around 6 giant presents every 5-10 minutes assuming you don’t fall. Also depends on how fast you do it so you make the next rotation before the people waiting are put on the puzzle.
I do have one question about this. I tried doing this last night with my lvl 4 alt, and I always got 3 small gifts instead of giant ones. Is that due to my lvl? Because my main lvl71 but he’s a fat charr and he’s really hard to control of the timed jumps.
The game is choking it self.
Drop rate is plain aweful, it wasnt, but they changed it that way. Champs with no loots or at best some greens..no point in doing that anymore, for nay sayers, one of the fun factors in all games are to be rewarded.
Grind or no grind, all hard to get items in this game involves grinding, the grind is only to be done by fraction runs or a few dungeons.
All aspect in earning money are effectivly removed, they nerf it all the time, so we are forced to buy gems with no other effort than using real cash.
World gameplay is removed, we are lfg fraction x and buying some gems to get our gold and thats it.
RNG system has very low chance of giving you what you need. So if you infact did grind for a very long time and finally get something worth a few, you can bet you just subtract it all to nothing using the mystic well. Gamble system that wins over you time after time are not fun.
Balance between classes are needed, as long we have some sort of pvp we need it no matter what people think or say.
Elementalist, Engineer and Ranger the worst, then Necromancer, Mesmer in the middle, and at top Warrior and Thief wich stomp the most with less efforts. I ignore this as best i can but getting killed by thieves in a matter of seconds knowing it is a class balance issue is rather annoying.Anet don’t focus enouf on the ‘FUN’ factor, it is way to many cons to actualy feel happy when playing as a average player. The game started out pretty well, after that they have removed or done changes that hurts the main reason to play.
Many still holds their breath, hoping that Anet will come to their sences..so far theres not much of that.
That might be your opinion (and sorry if I’m misreading your post, because it sounds like you’re trying to speak for the majority), but I’m not alone when I say that I’m still finding a lot of fun things to do in game.
Aight I’m here to drop my personal opinion on game so far what I like and dislike and what I think it needs to change. So instead of being kitten fanboy please read and respect my PERSONAL opinion on stuff since I will do same for you.
Pros:
- Fun leveling experience
- Unique questing system
- Good itemization
- Melee combat is lovely animated.
- Amazing story with really good voice over
- Enviroment design is mind blowing in a good way (especially norn areas)
-Sylvari (unique)Cons:
-Really boring end game-WvW is nothing more but zerg vs. zerg (there is no real skill involved)
-Spvp is not really balanced as much it could be especially since they oriented entire game around pvp.-Boring tournaments
- Playing around orr/arah is mindblowing and frustrating experience unless grouped with 5+ people
- PvE is everything but fun (we don’t want our players to grind) and yet you grind like mad man to complete that set you desire so much (yeah time and effort needs to be rewarded but they could made it much more fun and exciting instead of just boring and repetitive runs).
- PvE content needs more mechanics… fights are just really bad and nothing more but
avoid fire or w/e and dodge once or twice trough entire encounter.- Forced to do mostly pvp (what I mean by this is the fact that sooner or later you will have to pvp. Since after you complete everything at PvE side of the game you will be stuck with boredom- because you got nothing else to do) And this happens rather fast because only “hard” part of PVE is the fact that you have to grind alot for good looking items and thats all everything else goes fast and all of this you can get done under 150 hours played (I did it with casual play so every one should be able to do it).
I got only 140 hours and 59 mins played on my main and around 201 hour on all characters. So basically I did not burn out I just got nothing else to do.
-Crafting Legendary… honestly it sucks it’s just a big grind. I don’t have any suggestions myself on this one, but they could have done it better. Once again this is my opinion so I’m entitled to write it up how I feel about this.
- No healer profession (this one was really big letdown for me, I always enjoyed playing healer/support class in mmo’s. This is where MOST of you if not all will disagree with me but well F* it. PvE simply can’t have any proper mechanics without healing class. Unless they give us option so we can dodge way more at PvE instead of just twice.
I got more stuff that I don’t like but I’ll end it here for now. Obviously some of you will just flame because you got nothing better to do. But bring it.
I will see you when next expansion launches (hopefully it will bring some kind of nice PvE) If not GW2 will be just another game on my list that was marked as huge letdown with big potential. It’s funny how most of latest mmo’s start out well but end up as huge disaster (I’m not saying GW2 is bad or anything but currently it lacks stuff and content to keep people like me interested into playing)
And I honestly can’t queue up for another WvW because I’ll f* freak out.
~Peace out.
Thanks for sharing your thoughts! I’ll admit I disagree with a lot of what you wrote, but it’s just purely opinion on my part. I’ve only really done pve, so I can’t speak of pvp or wvw, and it sounds like you already finished the main story. So just curious, have you done the map completion, jumping puzzles, are any of the dungeons (both official and mini ones) for fun (assuming you find those fun)? Just wondering because these are some of the things I’m working on that still make pve worth playing to me. Also have you tried any of the wintersday stuff? It’s pretty fun so far. And like you said, they have some big updates coming in the next 2 months, so they may add more content that you might like, but we’ll just have to wait and see what actually happens.
-On the voice acting front, I think a lot of it was good, some of it was great (I love Tybalt Leftpaw!) but TheHernia, I mean Trehearne >.> was a let down. I don’t care that he was the guy everyone looked to for wisdom and all that other good stuff(even if he did materialize out of nowhere as I was playing an Asuran and had no idea I was going to be saddled with this seemingly random NPC), what bothered me was that his tone was so “matter-of-factly” throughout some pretty dire situations, like the words were just secreting from his neck.
The story got a bit shaky at some points to the point where I never bothered to do the last story mission and my Engineer has been 80 for at least 2 months.
-The craft system is a horrendous money sink that is not profitable, I usually love crafting but I had to stay away after I realized it punched a hole in my pockets.
-Like you, I enjoy playing a healer, and I find myself jumping on my Druid in that other game and signing up for battlegrounds more often. I can appreciate the whole, no trinity thing but it seems to be more damage centric then anything, sure you dodge sometimes but at the rate at which offensive abilities are spammed in this game and the respawn rates, trying to play defensively seems to be a waste of time.
Also as a side note, I would love to be wrong but this game doesn’t have a pvp match observation feature, which I enjoyed from GW.
Nor sure if I heard this right, but I thought Anet had plans to add the pvp observation feature at some point in the future?

This.
If you had every comment that was positive that would stunt growth or fixes for the game. People should voice out their displeasure with certain aspects of the game, but they should do it in a constructive manner. It does not help when all people do is fan boy faun at the game when there are obvious issues that should be mentioned. The delusional ones are the ones that think everything is perfect when it is not.
The game is fun for the most part. You have accessibility to good gear and armor (aside from ascended which they are working on) once you hit 80. There are things that cater to most people which can take up a good portion of your time.
There are however issues with the game.
-Character balance needs to be addressed. Some professions just outshine others. I am cringing on the notion that ANets is going to look into damage from AoEs.
-Guesting: This was available in the beta (except bwe 3) so why is it not available now? Thankfully dungeons can be done with friends on other servers but for some places (fractals and the holiday instances) you need to be in the same server as the person. This was somewhat doable with LA overflow but what happens to those that don’t have high pop servers trying to get groups for fractals? Wouldn’t making overflows more accessible be a fast fix for this?
-Culling: There are classes in WvW that can cull and it makes them imbalanced. They are trying to fix it with some changes but hopefully they do more.
-DR: What’s the point of this? If you are aggressively pursuing bots and banning them then aren’t the people who are being punished the most legitimate players? This game is about having options to play how you want, why are you punishing those that want to farm for mats to make their ascended back pieces or legendaries by keeping something like DR. I know people will say those are optional and I will agree, but just because they are optional does not mean people should not be allowed to farm for them how they want.[/quote]
See this is the kind of comment that is helpful. Though I do want to say one thing about your first comment. The TC did give reasons why he felt the way he does, though maybe not as specific as others may want. So why should he not post that he likes the game, when so many others can post why they hate the game, with as much and quite often fewer reasons then the TC gave for liking it, and not only not be called out, but encouraged?
(edited by Melonamen.1275)
It would be cool if they did, but as others have said, it’s not likely with the current “fanbase” (I use that term lightly)
First let me preface this with a caveat, i attended the 1 time Karka/lost shores event, and due to bugs, glitches, lag, Gremlins, i never had the chance to finish the event before it ended. With that said, i have also not received one of the Apology chests so many others have gotten recently (some got twice, some even 3 if you include the event acquire).
I do not care if i ever get one of these chests, i am more concerned over how Anet is going to get yet another black eye from this whole fiasco of the lost shores update (ascended gear was 1 black eye, disconnects and rejoins in Fractals another).
What does Anet lose if they just give everyone who had an acct. prior to the lost shores event one of these chests, even for those who never even attended it ? I can tell you nothing since its all virtual items. But giving the population a chest, can generate alot of positive feelings from the community.
Sure it belittles the effort those who got to complete the event, sure it might flood the market with a few choice items, but it will make those who tried and never got to achieve it feel that Anet at least gives a kittens rear end.
There is also another idea, but i am not sure how well this would go over, why not just re-introduce the event for a week, before Wintersday.
I dunno i still enjoy the game, not getting a chest does not make me want to quit playing. Nor does it make me angry at Anet, i just hate to think others will get so pissed off about it, that they might just do that…. Quit.
Try checking later? Or maybe filing a ticket? I didn’t even get to participate in the event and I got a chest, so I’m pretty sure you were supposed to get one.
Regarding the youth thing: why would it matter?
Judge a person on their arguments and articulation, and ignore irrelevant details such as age. Most parents will tell you that children can sometimes amaze you with insight.
Exactly, bushing off someone because of their age is never a good idea. However, neither is trusting or believing someone who is older and should “know better”.
You really will argue about any little thing just to argue won’t you? At once time you had a lot of valuable insights to the community, but these days you just wanna nitpick and get the last word. Well, do your thing I’m done with this thread.
? I don’t know enough about this subject to say who’s right or wrong, but it sounded like he was just pointing out that you got something mixed up. And he wasn’t rude about it either.
Don’t make post like these it feels them.
Ignore them and they will eventually go away.
Sorry, but grammar nazi rising… I’m assuming you mean feeds them.
Ive not fully quit yet, but haven’t been playing at all since lost shores fractals/ascended/grind/bugs came into place. I went back to the mmo’s i was playing before but i still come back and check the forums hoping to see some good news, because i really want to like and enjoy this game but, i just can’t at the moment with all these issues i have with it.
I’m just curious, I understand checking in on the forums to see what’s changed and what people think, but in with future updates would you try the content to see whether the forums are completely correct? Or just go based on what’s on the forums?
I just got the game not too long ago after building my first PC. And now i’m hooked, granted I do play blackops for xbox but, i’m between the two right now. I have a lvl 26 human thief, only reason i’m posting this is cause my friends are caught up on black oops and would like to know at least some people in the game.
Well, unfortunately due to school and such, I’m not always on, but I’d be happy to help you out if we’re on the same server (Stormbluff Isle), name’s Kinroth. If you aren’t in a guild, the one I’m in is pretty friendly (Noble Fantasm ), and there’s always someone there (at least during the times I’ve been able to log in XD).
It at least serves the purpose of demonstrating that there are people enjoying the game to people who check out the forum for the first time. That’s something you wouldn’t expect based on the majority of posts here.
Perhaps, MageHeart, to make it more “constructive”, you could list more, specific things you think are working really well in the game.
That’s, surely, as constructive as the posts listing the things that people think are broken.
We know about the good things that work in the game. Those things are pointless to discuss because well if it werent for those things nobody would really play the game. Discussing things that are without issue is pointless. Nobody will change them because they work just fine.
We need to focus on things that are not good, broken and causing issues for players. Those things need to be bought up to attention, discussed, adressed and fixed.
True, (and I mean no offence to you when I say this) but until people can learn to discuss those things without the amount of rabid hatred, flaming, and trolling on both sides of the argument, then I do think that threads like this showing appreciation are just as valid and needed as those expressing complaints. Not to mention it can show what people think they are doing RIGHT which can be just as important as knowing what they are doing wrong.
My server(stormbluff) always seems full. Can’t tell you the last time I wasn’t in an overflow in LA or any busy place really. Granted we’re one of the top wvw servers usually so I’m sure we get a lot of transfers and such.
Stormbluff resident here too. And yeah, last time I logged on, there were still people in every map I went too, and I was always in overflow in LA.
Good grief, the quote system seems to be glitching again :/
Anyway, to Hellkaiser… Very true, and no offence taken. The main reason I didn’t give much explanation was because (1 time and (2 the other guy already created the thread. As for my flame comment, I had already seen many times today people that enjoyed the game, and gave reasons for it, get flamed by other members of the forums because they didn’t agree. Though it may have been due my comment, the two people that responded after me are perfect examples. As for why I like the game, one thing I like the most is the combat. Some people may not like having skills tied to weapons, but I personally don’t mind it. And I appreciate the way you have to keep moving, rather than it being a strictly numbers game.

I used to enjoy it until:
- they’ve yet to comment let alone fix any of the issues engineers have had since before launch, the last word we had from a dev was two months ago in our forums. Sheer lack of communication kills gaming communities quickly.
- they either broke by accident or completely nerfed any kind of rare drops from anything outside dungeons, or the mystic toilet. Horrible economics kills game communities.
- they continue to have even more bugs (for whatever the reason, all i know is they need a bigger bug fixing team in the short term) seems the bugs lists are climbing not being solved (like the new stealth/invis bug in pve, suddenly everyone can see me) Endless relentless bugs that never get fixed kills gaming communities.
It really is getting that bad no joke. I actually thought about going back to an older game today. GULP
I do hope they get the glitches fixed soon, though I guess we’ll just have to wait and see how long it actually takes.
Funny how you guys are the minority.
Considering we’re both on the forums, I’d say we’re both the minority here
You can transfer once a week.
I’ve never done a server transfer, but I’m curious. Do your chars get transferred or deleted?
ArenaNet, taking the one step forward, two steps back to all new levels!
This is why I quit. I’ve seen the fare share of fixing one bug only to break something else but this game is the worse. Not only does it take several times to fix buggy events (and still not really fix them) but they are always breaking other things.
All I can say is, I hope this break is the result of them trying to make it so you can use an ability while in mid-air after jumping but I doubt it.
I’m pretty sure it was stated that whatever is going of with jumping right now is a bug. If that’s the case is it really hard to understand?
I’m enjoying it too. I’ll probably get flamed for saying this, but I’m glad to find a thread about someone enjoying the game, rather than bashing it non-stop.
The longer we wait to hear something, the more aggrivating this bug is … I am to the point where it is a chore to play because I need to put alot more time into farming just to make enough coin to do thew things I enjoy doing in this game.
Please ANet atleast let us know what is going on.
Did you really intentionally nerf drop rates to push people into fractals, just to say “hey, look how popular it is” …. one reason its so popular is because its the ONLY place to make decent coin.
I might be wrong, but didn’t ANet already say in the AMA that loot drops were bugged and that they were being worked on? Like I said, I could be wrong, but if that’s correct what that what you were looking for?
does no one on this forums play gw1? its just infuse armor >_<
That would be fine, but no of those articles sounds like that.
We have to wait for the official statement and until then we can’t do anything expect showing Arena Net that we won’t be happy if they would add a new tier of gear.
speak for yourself. I would be very happy.
Except you stopped playing after a month like you did TSW and went to WoW. Not to mention all the badmouthing you do about this game.
Gear treadmills is the worst type of content to keep people playing. As it is that’s exactly what they open the doors for with what is said.
Do I know you? I’m still subbed to TSW. What does any of this have to do with me being happy that Anet listened to it community and added progression?
What community your talking about ? Because Guild Wars was always played because it has horizontal progression. No gear progression in team of tiers or better stats ..
If you are talking about wow community .. okey then
Uh, I don’t know about you, but until now, I’ve been seeing a lot of people saying there was no progression or anything to keep them interested (including complaints of no gear progression). And it wasn’t just here and there either, these complaints were being brought at least as much as this issue is being brought up now.
That make sence becose the rest was happy with the current system . no gear progression. They didnt need to complain or post anything, everyone were just playing the game.
And btw if you use brain, you can clearly see that community dont want gear progression .. 30 pages in few hours against this change is prove that community dont want this.
I don’t have a problem with people not wanting vertical gear progression. What I’m saying is that we should wait for the blog post before flipping out completely.
My favourite thing about the idea that all of this discussion of a potential increase in vertical progression is “useless” and “grasping at straws”, because ArenaNet haven’t said anything directly (despite there being multiple independent sources of second-hand information from ArenaNet that all corroborate each other), is that it goes nowhere, no matter how ArenaNet eventually ends up responding (and wasn’t that blog post promised like 6-7 hours ago already? That is a hell of a hold up!):
Possibility 1)
– ArenaNet reveals that yes, Ascended equipment will represent a vertical increase in player power. In which case, I guess, every single argument against it in this thread will magically flip from being irrelevant, useless straw-grasping, to being totally on-point and relevant to the issue at hand.Possibility 2)
– ArenaNet reveals that no, Ascended equipment will not be a vertical, statistical improvement over Exotic equipment. In which case everybody breathes a sigh of relief and goes on with their day – and in which case this entire thread stands as a monument to the community’s stance on further vertical progression, with many, many more negative responses than positive ones, and ArenaNet can point to this thread internally any time the subject comes up again during internal decisionmaking time.So whether people are right or wrong about what they think this is going to be, the feedback is still valuable and important to the development of the game. Why try to stifle it?
My biggest concern with this thread it attitude. Everyone keeps saying this WILL ruin the game, when the fact is none of us has any idea what is actually going on.
Uh, I don’t know about you, but until now, I’ve been seeing a lot of people saying there was no progression or anything to keep them interested (including complaints of no gear progression). And it wasn’t just here and there either, these complaints were being brought at least as much as this issue is being brought up now.
And how many players were pretty fine with the ways it was so they didn’t have to complain about something before?
How many players NEED the way it was and would actively complain and leave if things changed?
I guess that was kinda my point. None of us know what this update is actually going to be like. And there is supposed to be a blog coming soon to help explain what’s going on. My point is to see what the blog has to say before we all grab our pitchforks.
does no one on this forums play gw1? its just infuse armor >_<

I have a question for all those that keep quoting outside sources. I just went back re-read what A-NET posted on this very site and all it said was “New Ascended Gear & Infusions
Introducing Ascended items, artifacts of great power that can be improved by a special new type of upgrade called Infusions, which can be found in dungeons. Look for more information about Ascended gear soon!” I have no doubt that the stats may be better than exotics, especially to keep up with the dungeon, but how much more powerful these new items will be has not been officially stated by A-net yet, nor all the way you can get the items. What if it’s possible to get the items by simply playing the game rather than only the dungeon? So unless I’m missing something, all these statements from other sources about these new items is nothing but speculation, and an attempt by the news outlets to attract attention.
@skullmount
Sorry if this is a odd question, but did you equip it? Believe it or not it took me a little bit to figure out that I had to equip it to get it to show up.
oh, and anyone have a link to the weapon recipes and well? I’m looking but can never find them
Thank you so much for posting this! I didn’t know the personalized ToT bags reset every day. My main concern for getting the mats is can I still craft the exotic weapons after the mad king events. I can focus on getting the special mats now, and worry about the rest later, but do I need to get a recipe for the items or what? Basically, what things can only be crafted during the event, and what can be done later. Thanks again!
I’m really enjoying the event too! Though we couldn’t get the first ghost to work on my server, even though we tried all the suggestions
Our server (stormbluff isle) tried that, but it still wouldn’t spawn, we tried everything we could think of. I sent a bug report to Anet too. Hopefully they see this soon
