Are those hard to get for new players? I been around since beginning so I have 3881 left after making Chuka so it wasn’t much of a concern. I used 300 Laurels and got probably around 300 gold worth of t6 that I used to finish my clovers and gemstones.
You can easily convert them to gold: 1 spirit shard = 60-80s.
You can check it here: https://gw2efficiency.com/currencies/spirit-shards
You can also check laurel profit: https://gw2efficiency.com/currencies/laurels, the 1g you wrote is correct.
Well 20 Laurels are worth about 20 gold~ you could get more clovers than 7 with that depending on your luck :P
Don’t forget that you will also save 13-14 spirit shards if you don’t have to make those mystic clovers.
I would like an additional option in the last chest for login rewards to include an option for Mystic Coins though. I don’t see what that would hurt. It’s a once a month bonus for Mystic Coins and you’d have to give up getting 20 Laurels to get them.
Choose this if you need mystic coins to make a legendary:

I gave some random over in the Players helping Players section all of the nuggets I had cause he was working on Juggernaut & I wasn’t going to use them. He pm’d me the results; 5 Silver Doubloons total. I don’t recall the exact amount of each of the nuggets I sent him; most were around 100 I think.
Getting 5 Silver Doubloons from a few hundred nuggets is fine.
As Loading.4503 mentioned you should use the Mystic Forge to create Silver Doubloons. What you need: nuggets and marks. The chance to get a silver doubloon is 5-6%.
As I know, the seller from PVPBANK are just spamming. No other sellers. So just add pvpbank and you will never get any spam
I get messages from 2 sites regularly.
Chat filters do not work. Anyone who thinks otherwise is so naive they border on being criminal. For example, for JUST “www” there’s a large number of variations that can and will bypass filters- vvvvvv, wwvv, wwvvvv, wvvw, vvww, \/\/ \/\/ \/\/, etc.
With a good regexp you can filter 99.99% of the possible combinations. And the other 0.01% would be difficult to read for humans. It is easy to detect these messages, and I am 99% sure that Anet has a tool for it.
There was a guy in LA before the quarterly update, he was spamming the map chat, desperately trying to sell his Ilex of Dreams for 300g. I didn’t understand him, because the lowest sell order was ~370g at that time and players almost never sell items in map chat.
1. Buy a bunch of level 70-80 masterwork weapons (use buy orders).
2. Upgrade them to rares with the help of the mighty toilet.
3. Sell the expensive rares (greatswords, swords, etc.), salvage the rest with mystic/master salvage kit and sell ectos and materials.
4. Profit.
I don’t know if this happened before but occasionally when making one amalgamated the old 3-stack way it would proc 5 amalgamateds.
I got distracted by a guildie and goofed and used my orbs up on 3-stacks instead of 25’s >< /so much face palming But then I promoted some crystals (using dust, a whole lot of forging got me -one- orb) and was able to do 2 iterations of the 25’s. Ended up with 72/250
Maybe they added a “critical crafting success” to that as well. It would be nice to know the chance.
Well, if you get 10 per 75 orbs + 5 ecto, that is better than needing 90 orbs and 10 crystalline ore. Though you do have to have 25 of a particular orb so you have less granular control. If that small chance at 20 procs, What Savings!
Milkshake, when you said you got 3 gemstones from forging T5’s, did you mean amalgamated gemstones or orbs? I’d be willing to burn my crystals for a shot at turning 4 crystals into 1 amalgamated, but not if it just turns into orbs. I can turn 2 crystals into an orb if my dust supply holds out, for a much larger return of orbs.
t5 crystals = ruby crystal, emerald crystal etc. or medallions
Before patch you were able to put 4 of them into the forge and you had ~30% chance to promote them to t6 orbs/crests. Now you have a small (<2%) chance to get amalgamated gemstones this way.
It was cheaper to use purely crystals to make orbs, because incandescent dust is expensive. And now it is even better. I quickly made 50 attempts to see what happens and I got 3 amalgamated gemstones, but it seems that the chance is lower, but I don’t have a big sample.
The new mystic forge recipe gives you 10 amalgamated gemstones (and a small chance to get 20, but I cannot confirm this).
So what’s the new recipe requiring platinum? It’s gone from 2s43c to 4s33c overnight…
Oh, foo. Thought it was guaranteed 10 per based on the OP.
It is guaranteed 10. I have read on reddit that you have a small chance to get 20.
I have put some t5 crystals into the forge: 50 attempts -> 3 gemstones, the chance of promotion to t6 orbs seems to be the same as before. Please provide more data if you have crystals and time to click.
What is the t5 crystal recipe in the forge?
http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Ruby_Crystal etc.
Just put 4 of them into the MF.
I have put some t5 crystals into the forge: 50 attempts → 3 gemstones, the chance of promotion to t6 orbs seems to be the same as before. Please provide more data if you have crystals and time to click.
25x orb + 25x orb + 25x orb + 5 glob of ecto = 10 gemstones
Thanks to everyone for your positive reply.
One thing i didn’t find on the wiki abbreviations page was "RnG’ i’ve seen this one when people are talking about luck or traiding post (TP) ?
Random number generator, people like to hate it, because they don’t get good loot and others do
Thanks for the link it is useful….However it is not comprehensive. I am really scratching my head hard: anyone can tell me what LoS means?
Line of Sight – if you draw a line from you to your enemy and there are no obstacles (trees etc.) between the 2 points.
The most recent example i just saw was ’’DS’’ .
People were talking about farming mastery points by spamming ’’DS’’.
I had NO clue what that meant lol..
and it would suck to have to google an abbreviation for this game while on the forums. i’d be on google more than here -__-
I am glad to see that your problem is solved with the wiki page. Yes it is sometimes confusing, but you will learn them fast
Can you write a few examples? I think that many of these are frequently used in the game, if you cannot recognize them, just ask for help or use google.
No idea when it happend, but
Thanks ANet for the 2 new bank-tabs

If I want a specific dye colour I have to first discover it, then select it in the wardrobe, then use a transmutation point to change the colour of an item. This goes back to the point I was trying to make earlier about an over-abundance of useless stats instead of normal gameplay. Why can’t I just go to a merchant and choose the colour dye I want and buy it with gold?
Why are there so many different currencies in GW2?
It’s not an MMORPG it’s something else…. It has elements of an MMORPG.
The bold part is incorrect. Changing colour is free.
Making a legendary requires core map completion:
1. It takes a lot of time
2. Most players play HoT zones, SW, fractals, wvw, pvp and SAB
I think it is more and more difficult to find friends or guild mates with a Gift of Exploration who can help legendary crafters to create new ones.
It is possible to play 90% of the content with rare weapons/armor, you don’t have to worry about stats. You can reach level 80 quickly, it is a fairly long tutorial to learn using your class and weapons sets.
There are weapon restrictions because then there would be 100+ weapon set combinations and skill bars for each class. How many would you use? The best 2 or 3, and the rest 95% would be unnecessary (wasting developers’ time).
You don’t have to use dyes and shiny items, but a lot of players like to make their character unique with skins and colours.
Dynamic level adjustment is an awesome feature, without it all low level zones would be empty, new players would think that the game is dead.
Um, no. A few legendaries always have a WTB:WTS spread that is wide enough to allow the possibility of a flip, but it’s not something that you can do in bulk. The wider the spread, the more likely it is that other people will enter the market, which risks you ability to buy and sell within the margin.
However, the OP wasn’t talking about flipping, they were talking about price manipulation: buying enough of the shield to reduce the supply to 1, allowing them to set the sale price. That is far, far riskier, because they’d have to list all their supply at least 18% over the original sale offer price to break even…or sell a high enough number of legends they bought at ‘discount’ prices to make up for the difference.
So while it’s possible that a few individuals might make 200g in long-term investment of buying low, reselling high, it’s nearly impossible for someone to do that with 5+ within any sort of reasonable time frame.
A few? Currently there are 10 legendaries that have at least 200g spread. I agree that you cannot trade a lot of them, but even if you manage to flip 1/week it is a huge profit with almost 0 work. Is it better to flip 1 item and make 200g profit or flip 400 items to make the same?
I think that smart players won’t do price manipulation as you wrote. Why would they want to lose hundreds of golds? They will just place buy orders and wait a few days until the current supply is gone then they can set a new sale price. Supply is so low that they don’t have to make a “traditional” price manipulation (just check what happened with Mystic Coins a few days ago).
And yes, there is a risk in it, but there is a risk in every investment.
Flipping legendary weapons IS profitable (in the past few months), of course you sometimes have to wait days or weeks, but the profit is 200-300g. Flip the popular ones (greatsword, hammer, staff) to reduce risk and waiting time.
If someone tells you that it is not true and you will lose gold then probably he is flipping legendaries and he doesn’t want competition.
Prices are connected to each other. If ecto becomes more expensive, then t6 dust and all 68+ rare weapon/armor will follow it. And also precursors as you can see.
I think part of the problem is SAB. More SAB, less farm, less ectos going to the market. The other part is speculation because of the update. New legendary → items have higher demand, just look at Mystic Coins, someone (or a group) bought almost all of them yesterday.
Sometimes it was difficult to decide, but it is a nice little test in my opinion.
Your gaming style is
Achiever: 47%
Explorer: 67%
Griefer: 33%
Socializer: 53%
This has been happening for months or even years. 2 items, 1 copper overbid. I was thinking a lot about possible reasons, here are some:
If you buy 2 instead of 20, you will be able to order 10 times more different items with the same amount of gold. If the trade volume is low and overbids come quickly, there is no reason to order 20.
Also, if you order 20 of a rare item, you will make a “wall”, other players will see it and they will overbid. If there are only 1-2 items and your order is the next one, then maybe you won’t do anything and leave it as it is.
The last reason is that if you can overbid others quickly, then you can eliminate competition. I am sure that a lot of players can see the profit, but if they can’t keep up with you, they will stop trading these items. They can do only 1 thing: increasing the price until the profit is gone.
On the other hand if you order a lot of different items, it will require millions of clicks and 15+ hours every day to defend your bids. I am sure that 1 person cannot do this for a long time. But if you have 5-6 friends, then you can distribute tasks and control the market.
Using bots/macros for this would be risky, I am sure that there are some players who use TP bots, but they don’t have much influence on the market. More bots would mean more competition and prices would be near 0 profit, but it is not the case, you can easily find hundreds of flippable items with 1g+ profit.
Use the Mystic Forge to create orbs, it is cheaper.
Buy what you need (elonian leather and damask) and craft the remaining later and sell them.
1) Weapon Skill Re-Binding
The current system is good. It requires a little practice to learn the skills and rotations, but at least this needs some skill. Of course it would be easier to press 1-2-3-4 on every class and weapon set, but I don’t want to see that.
2) Minimap Options
It would be a nice feature.
3) Condition Popups
The current system is enough, you have visual effects and icons. Also, if you know other classes, you will know which conditions you can expect from them. In a zerg or pvp match it doesn’t matter, you can get 5-6 conditions in a few seconds, so you will have the same problem: looking at popups instead of the actual fight.
4) Enemy Cast Bars
If bosses can easily one hit you, then try to run a build with more toughness and vitality. You can also use a ranged weapon set to safely pewpew the boss.
5) Crafting and Drop Rate Changes
It is not a traditional grindy korean mmo, farming doesn’t mean you have to kill 2000 of the same mob (because of DR). Just do events, enjoy the game and you will get enough gold to buy the materials you need. If you need specific level materials, you can farm chests in silverwastes, and open the bags on a level 40-53-80 character.
A Bank almost full of eternitys – now if you could only see the details – you would see it is not wrong.
The funny thing is ANET has no way of knowing who it is or the ability to check ‘account’ value in this way. Its the third party sites which actually have better tools than ANET does.
It also doesnt take much effort to have lots of legendarys listed on the TP – remember whats in the bank/chars can be dwarfed by current sell rates on the TP.
I would not be shocked if there were many players with > 500K in listings on the TP right now (with a current value > 100K if it all sold).
The question is how much do you think is too much?
Currently there are 134 legendary weapons listed on the trading post, I doubt that the richest players have more than a few dozen of them.
It is fairly easy to reach high numbers in listings, look at some t5 materials, almost 600k potent venom sacs listed for 2s, is it worth 10k gold?
Hi All,
Prices should be falling of many goods – or at least stabilising (see – Precursors: many have fallen in value and will continue to do so: eg Zap which can be crafted for about 460g via MF – see www.gw2profits.com). The increase of exotic drops from raids and 300% MF across more players due to the Chinese New Year celebrations.
The 460g Zap is only theoretical. In practice you are not able to buy those swords for 1-1.2g, because others outbid you in <10 minutes 24/7. It is possible that you will buy a few, but do not expect hundreds of them, and also the number of items is limited (low volume). It is easier to simply flip them, you will get the same profit.
rng for machines is impossible..thats one of the first things electricengineers learn.
You can easily make real rng if you need it: http://www.idquantique.com/random-number-generation
The probably of ~0.5% means that you can not reliably mystic forge a precursor unless you have a lot of gold to spend. Those are the numbers I got from a friend who use to craft precursors weekly. He had all of the legendaries years ago and multiple copies of precursors. The last time I talk with him he had made ~400 precursors. Need to look on forums to see if I can find that post with precursor data.
https://www.reddit.com/r/Guildwars2/comments/32uj3o/data_200_precursors_for_science/
That is the data from someone else in the precursor market. His average was 0.7% chance to craft a precursor. Data from the ~200 precursors that he had crafted at that time.
I think this guy is clever enough to create less precise data on purpose. You cannot check it, because you would have to do a lot of attempts to gather enough data. But let’s say that the chance is ~0.7%, I accept it.
Its RNG and more about time spent farming than playing X years. Some players farm a lot, others spend most of their time afk in LA, and some just get lucky. I have gotten a precursor to drop every 1000 hrs or so. When you mystic forging for a precursor you will find a rate of 1/250 attempt with rares or 1/160 attempt with exotic per precursor. The precursor mastery system is comparable to slowly saving gold to buy a precursor instead of see you have to make 1000g for the precursor you want. That is just how rare they are.
Those numbers (1/250 and 1/160) are not correct.
I wish that were so, I forge and throw a great deal of rares into the forge. I am not without luck, I have gotten 2 pre’s from the forge, but that is with far greater effort and cost. But others just throw in anything anytime and get a pre. But anyway, am off, have a great day.
This is about variance, it is huge in this case. There will be players who claim to get a precursor often. It is up to you to believe them or not.
I have 2 problems with this “anything anytime and get a pre”:
1. The market isn’t flooded with precursors, they are quite rare and expensive.
2. There is no evidence of their claim (there are some videos on youtube, but getting 3 precursors from 34 attempts with exotics is fine).
I do not believe this for one moment. There are too many instances of lucky people. Even in our guild we have two that get so many precursors, we pool our rares in the guild bank and let them do the turn ins for us. One person has had over 30 precursors since the games launch and has made every legendary (up to and including nevermore-is working on the other new ones), even underwater ones because, why not. Deny all you want, but your system is broken.
If you give them a lot of rares they will get many precursors Ask your friends to give rares to you and you will be the lucky one who gets precursors.
There’s no convincing people who’ve made their minds up that their anecdotal evidence is superior to whatever anyone says.
This is so true.
I would be glad to help and find a bug in the loot system, but without evidence and exact numbers it is difficult.
You’re just assuming that. Even if you buy every lottery ticket in your store doesn’t mean you’ll be a winner. Not every store has a winning ticket. Or the lottery companies would be losing money.
You are wrong.
Tickets (every different number combination) * ticket price >> jackpot
If RNG with the lottery worked the way RNG does in Gw2 then there would be at least a couple people in the world who win the lottery every week. Which doesn’t happen. If it does show me a link then I’ll kitten.
If you buy every possible lottery ticket then you can win it every week It is similar in GW2, you can buy thousands of exotic weapons and get dozens of precursors.
I don’t pretend to do statistics & in all truth; I don’t care. This is just unrewarding.
Spending time in the game to have bad reward most of/all the time(no precursor & almost no ascended chest drop) whereas someone have a lot.
That’s the point there.
But… you can do a lot of different activities with good rewards and you can buy your precursor.
Let’s say the average precursor drop rate is 1 precursor / 2k hours.
Average value of a precursor is ~500g.
That is 25s/hour only, but you can easily make 8-10g/hour in the game, 1 or 2 precursors make a very little difference.
I have enough gold to last me don’t worry lol, have made several legendaries including some as presents for my friends. Also have lots of things from gem shop from converting gold. As I said I cant complain about luck at all.
Just trying to show good/bad side of accounts.
But the 1/3 chance you mentioned is unbelievable to me. Maybe if you make 100 attempts and you are lucky. If you make 1000 attempts and you get 330+ exotics, then something is wrong.
My odds i would say probably just over 1 exo every 3 tries. Me and my friend sort of joke about it, i get lot of exos not many pre’s he gets lots pre’s not many normal exos.
I played with him almost since start and both of our accounts are ‘lucky’Since Saturday i had 18 exos for salvaging (no black lion kits) mostly from fractals and have probably listed the same again on the trade post.
So i can quite understand why people think there is bad and good accounts.
With that chance you should be a millionaire now. You have ~20% chance to get an exotic from 4 level 80 rares.
I was talking about this with a guildie at the weekend, he said he gets about 1 exotic a month if he’s lucky while i was talking to him i threw the mornings rares in the forge and got 4 exotics in 5 tries.
Yes we all have the same odds of finding items, i myself think my account is lucky.
Had several precursors from drops and forge, more exotics than i can count and had probably around 70-80 ascended boxes including teq hoarde 4 times.I find it a little sad some people have such crappy luck hope it turns around soon for those players.
Well yes you were lucky with those 5 attempts, but what about the rest? People tend to only remember their winnings, like gamblers who say: ‘Hey I have won 1000 dollars!’ But he doesn’t say anything about losing 10k earlier.
I rarely use my ranger, so when I get 4 rare weapons, I will drop them into the forge. and that is how much I drop into the mystic toilet when I am on my ranger. Believe it or not. I don’t care.
The majority of the drops are on my Ele…
I believe you, everything that has a non zero chance can happen. Your case is very very rare (chance is like 1:500 000), but I bet there are at least a dozen other characters in the game who got 2 precursors from their first 2 attempts.
Can you make a controlled test with these 2 characters? Same number of attempts, similar items (lvl80 rares for example). If you make 3000 attempts on both characters that would be enough.
Ok, thanks all. I was fairly certain the whole “you are carrying a piece of armour, so it therefore takes up one space” argument would be the one – but just wanted to make sure.
So would people in general find it beneficial to have the ability to stack the same items inside their inventory? Maybe a special purchase like the cross account slot/tab?
I see people talking about buying 200-300 items to dump in the mystic forge, but I assume they do them in blocks of 40-60 to be able to manage it?
You can have 160 spaces (max 8 bags, each can store 20), so blocks are bigger, but yes, this is how people do it.
Weapons and armor pieces take 1 slot in your inventory. Delivery box is “unlimited”, you can use it as a bank if you don’t pick up items.
