All the Dragons should now be awake. Mordremoth was the final one the awaken.
I’m torn on this whole “Super Dragon” business. It is far too cheesy for my liking.
We have 4 Dragons left which should be providing a significant threat for a long time. We’ve already (sadly) killed off two rather too quickly and easily considering these are Ancient, super powerful beings who have survived many Millennia. HoT pushed away huge swathes of lore and story it could have explored to the detriment of the game. I hope the next stories will be much more in depth and detailed and really get into the building and chronicling of the lore.
Worst case scenario and we do actually kill off the Dragons too soon, we still have other threats from GW1 such as Lazarus, Palawa Joke and potentially whatever is happening over in Cantha. Plus who knows what else could absorb Dragon energy. I think the potential mileage for the material they have is great if they use it right.
I don’t personally think a GW3 will be a thing or certainly not in the next 10-15 years.
You are spot on with killing the dragons to easily. They are suppose to be these world ending beings and we kill them without a large scale battle. I get the whole “power of a guild” thing, but we fight their subordinates with a large group of people. Also the dragons absorbing the dead dragons power is exciting for me because maybe the fights will be exciting. I hope Arena net doesn’t close the book on this world when its all said and done.
Warning Spoilers: With there now being two dragons awakened, leaving only one dragon left, I think the next expansion will be massive. If we kill both dragons next expansion there will only be one left. So that means 2 maybe 3 expansions left (including the upcoming one) . My question is what does the future hold? If the final dragon has all the powers of the last how are we suppose to kill it? Will there be GW3? i know that is like 5 years ATLEAST away. I’m just worried to see my favorite gaming world disappear.
PS: PLEASE RELEASE MORE BOOKS! I know you guys already said you wont, but pwease
After reading countless QQ thief threads, this one takes the cake for me. After years and near constant nerfs, you want to take away one of the very FEW last things our class can do, because you have a hard time fighting them? LOL no.
You want to cripple Thieves ONLY real mechanic when EVERY CLASS BUT THIEF HAS A REVEAL, because you are angry that Thieves are using their ONLY ability to get close to you without you seeing. Please just learn to play. When a thief Stealth stacks, he loses the ability to use other abilities for a few seconds. That alone is enough.
If I were a dev I’d not only close this thread, but ban you from kitten posting on the Thief board.
Funnily enough it happened right after Helseth playing on a Thief made sure Anet Devs stayed dead in a match, he had no other goal
I doubt kitten devs are the reason but then again it has happened in other games.
I havent in a while and I’m wondering when did they put a CD on thieves backstab? Its a thieves only burst, that has to be in the back, reveals you for second after, and now has a cool down for if you miss? dafaq?
What was their mindset for this?
The feeling comes from the fact that they never gave us back the " gain 3 initiative on entering stealth " trait we used to have.
it’s pretty obvious arenanet has been shawing stealth from thief over the years, so its not totally unexpected. Even outside of Daredevil they’re pushing us into being a dodging / shadowstepping character more than a stealthy one.
This is why I quit the game and just visit the forums to see if Anet finally stopped kittenting on Thieves. Though like every bad developer they blurred the lines between professions to the point where many of them lost what made them unique. I honestly believe they need to revamp every profession.
Do dragon hunter, camp a point and no one will stop you unless they have massive condi damage. DH is cancer.
Lol DH is way to freaking powerful. They can just sit on a point for days with those traps. Then Scrapper takes days to kill because they have an answer for everything. Condi damage is still kinda of broken because most classes STILL dont really have a good condi cleanse. This games pvp is dead. Anet should just drop pvp and WvW if they arent going to fix them. They said they are working on it but it’s been over a year.
Guildwars 2 allows for a massive amount of stat customization that is almost unheard in mmos, thus making it almost impossible to balance.
As someone that played CoH, I actually find the stat customization in GW2 to be pretty shallow. It took this comment of yours to make me think back to older games like EQ and SWG to realize you might be right. It’s a depressing realization.
Anyway…. In CoH, the devs pretty much gave up on balanced PvP. They reached a point of mostly leaving it as it was, and letting people find what fun they could. And I think that’s what should (but not will) happen here.
When you have one character built for “I kill things quickly” and another built for “I survive massive damage”, or “I control everything” vs “I can’t be controlled”, then you’re going to have problems. You might be able to balance it when there’s only one way to do each, but when there’s multiple ways, you’re going to have someone’s build wind up unable to perform. The best you can hope for is keeping the imbalances as a whole somewhat balanced.
What?! LOL “keeping the imbalances?” Wow I’m just shocked. Did you not read what I said. Seriously?
Guildwars 2 allows for a massive amount of stat customization that is almost unheard in mmos, thus making it almost impossible to balance. Currently we have Power, Tank, and Condition build types. Each with there own pros and cons, but really lacking that edge over one another. The “Rock. Paper, Scissors” model I will discuss will hopefully will inspire the developers in future content.
The model would look like this Power>Condition>Tank>Power~. Now to make this model work, you have to completely remove most if not all the gear sets we currently have and change the way conditions work. Power and Conditions build should be on the squishier side. What would set them apart is Condition damage would be %hp based instead of power based. That would allow Condition damage users to have an advantage over players who go the Tank route.
Tanks would have an advantage over Power because they can more easily mitigate their damage with Toughness. Power on the other hand will have less hp than a tank thus making Condition builds less effective against them, and with Condition builds being squishier they’d have a harder time trying to with stand a Power build.
Please realize that this would mean a complete over haul of the current system, and this is merely a look in how the system could be. Also each damage type shouldn’t give such an advantage that they couldn’t win over their counter. Skill should still be a very large factor in winning fights. Thank you for your time if anyone read this far. Have a good one.

I think OP is right. Channeled skills shouldn’t still work when a Thief goes into stealth. I honestly think Anet doesn’t give one single kitten about Thieves and their well being as a class though. Sure they buffed their damage, but they still did not address major issues this class has like this one.
Your ENTIRE game is filled this this bs. Seriously I dont think I’ve found a single bridge that i can shadow step on without problem. The new WvW maps are even worse. Come on Anet, its been this way for years.

I honestly dont think the game will make it that far….this game doesnt have the longevity that GW 1 had.
Lmao, sooo what you’re saying is Thief does damage now and since you are really terrible at the game you cant beat them? This is how the thief is played. Burst then hide. If a thief is just spamming AAs then roast him. Thieves still cant take a decent hit. Learn to play.
Cry more. The thief has been needing buffs for over a year. The thief damage was complete trash. Now when the thief can keep up in damage people cry. Also if you want counter play to the thief it’s called learn to play. Thief dies in one good hit. Play ele, eng, guardian, and just spam that AOE and crush any thief.
I think they should have put the Healer spec on the guardian instead of the ranger. Also daredevil is just a better aerobatics…..which feels like more of a respec instead of its own thing.
So I haven’t played in around a year, but what guilds left their servers and went to yaks bend or did an influx of new players bring them up to number one? Also if it was guilds why did they do it?
Removed the Celestial Amulet. The games worth playing again.
I’d like to see a game with no levels. You’d still gain experience and gain new abilities as you progress through the game but there wouldn’t be a single numerical value put on it.
I feel like Anet have come close to this idea in the past, with setting the level cap so low in GW1 (and continuing to gain new skills long after you reach it), and with level scaling and different forms of progression in GW2.
I think it would be fun to have an MMO where people don’t worry about levelling or some arbitrary point that defines the difference between the main game and “end game”, and where you can visit areas in any order (although some would still be harder, because enemies would still have more health and better AI/skills).
I really like this idea. Cheers.
I know it’s kinda crazy to think about the next game, but I’m just wondering what everyone would like to see in the next game.
- I’d like to see a more fleshed out pve. I personally think they could have used a healer in the game and turned up the AI difficulty in PVE from the start…..
- Tons of skills like in the first game. I never like it when a company dumbs down skill options. Though I do realize that it would be incredibly hard to manage that many skills for a balance team.
- A subscription fee option. I would love that. Being able to support my favorite game while reaping in some sweet benefits like expansion packs or other sweet rewards would be awesome.
- A more engaging story line. Maybe its just me but I thought the storyline and the dragons feel kinda limp….The threat they cause is just brow raising imo.
-PVE content that forces players to enteract. Lets face it GW2 doesn’t really force you to interact with anyone else you want to. I like a bit of forced interaction between players.
- VR support with VOIP. Also on that note when i talk my char’s mouth moves to.
Thats all i can really think of atm…. What would you guys like to see?

Things I like about B&S.
-Classes feel more balanced
-Almost NO passives
-You MUST dodge and use iframes to survive.
-Conditions (DoTs) are not out of controlThings I like about GW2
-Many different PvP modes ( i include WvW in this)
-Controls feel more fluid
-Weapon variety
-More content overallI’ll continue to play both, but I see where you’re coming from. Most people are going to talk you down for making this post, but I wish you the best of luck. I’ve been holding my breath for 3 years and I feel silly for doing it. I’ve had a lot more fun playing GW2 when I accepted that the game will never be balanced and the Devs will continue to reinvent the wheel.
Let come down vote and scream and yell. I dont care. Your points are spot on though. The combat feels slightly stiffer in B&S, thats due to the game being more of a fighter style combat. Im sure B&S will add more pvp modes.
The main focus of Blade and Soul is PVP, and if its as good as it looks then PvPers will switch to a better experience. Also dont get it mixed up. I LOVE this game, but its a terrible relationship. I want GW2 to be something its not and never will be. And they want me to be the casual player I’ll never be.
(edited by Mintyfreshsmell.1568)
I have nothing to give lol. If I had anything though.
Is this weekend….annnnd the pvp looks to be on a completely different level than GW2. B&S’s professions are well defined from each other. Their unique talents are truly unique. Also the combat is a little more fleshed out unlike in this game. So see you there pvpers! Good bye GW2 it was fun….Wait well kinda fun. You guys dropped the ball and never wanted to fix it. So bye.
I love the idea of giving the thief a bruiser style melee specc that has sustain and does not have to either spam evades or use stealth for everything (I REALLY like d/p in pvp but holding point would be a nice change of pace).
I am happy that Karl went with staff, I just despise the way Staff and Daredevil is implemented unfortunately.
So yes, please give Daredevil some actual sustain and group utility.
Its bad because its already been done on another profession. Warrior and Guardian. Thief was intended to be a melee burst/in and out guerrilla style combat. Stealth being its main method of facilitating this. Sadly by them spreading fighting styles and abilities across multiple professions and not staying to the defined lines between professions, Thieves now don’t excel at anything but running. Thieves should be the only class with stealth. Mesmers have clones, with AI tweaks they could be even better. Rangers dont need a stealth between the massive ranger pet taunts, knock backs, and cripples. Engi’s having stealth is just silly because they excel at everything but Condi removal which everyone has problems with but ele.
My point is they need to completely revamp the professions so they provide clear play styles with clear counters to them. Sorry way off subject, but thats why I felt staff on thief is simply silly.
Thief is complete trash atm due to everyone having more damage and defence or survivability. Daredevil is ok but nothing special and I have zero ideas as to why the devs thought staff would be good on thief. HoT has killed the Thief….RIP
Three months is laughable and lazy. If they want to take pvp serious they need to update the game every 2 months.
3 months is about right, actually, especially the season setup. You don’t want to change things dramatically in the middle of a season, which last ~2 months.
Even if they didn’t work around the league system, the best they could possibly is every 2 months, and that’s pushing it a bit. You need a few weeks to determine if something is truly overpowered or if the community simply needed time to adjust. If something is truly overpowered, the developers need a few weeks to figure out what is the best change to balance it. This is an iterative process of making a change and then doing some testing to see if it’s the right change to make – did it fix the problem, not go too far, and the skill or build is still fun. Tack on some localization and QA time and you’ve already hit 2 months.
1.5 is enough time to see if something is too strong and to tone it down and they obviously dont care about going to far. Look at Thief. The only thing they are good for now is back capping point and rev people. Which btw is terrible. Who wants to play a profession that gives nothing to teamfights.
I assume there will always been minor updates even while the season is going. But the big reworks will be kept between leagues.
What I wonder is how long before they start the first season. Because it is clear that the balance right after HoT will be…. interesting let’s say…
They better get the balance right at launch otherwise players will be turned away.
During a segment at twitchcon, ANet outlined the cycle for PvP leagues:
- Balance patch
- Settling period of ~2 weeks for players to adjust and bugs to be fixed
- 8 week league season
- Intermission, possibly with post-league stuff
They hope to get 4 league seasons in per year, which means a balance patch every 3 months.
Three months is laughable and lazy. If they want to take pvp serious they need to update the game every 2 months.
Sure we get new trait lines and a new weapon for each profession. Some are ALOT better than others..Thief staff LOL. What I want to know is will there be regular updates to the balancing side of things? How about some profession reworks to make more professions stand out from one another? As of right now there’s too much crossover between abilities types that should be more profession specific.
Im seriously going to play this game again just because of this video. I love the thief and I do think they are a bit UP atm, but your video gave me hope again. WOuld you make a tips are tricks guide. Just watching your vid I’ve gathered a few tricks but I’d like to see more if i missed any.
This video is outdated with HoT. Thief will be far weaker then. I don’t think you should play this game again based on this video.
I most likely wont buy HoT because it wont be worth the 50 bucks and I know thiefs will end up being weaker. The reason I left this game in the first place was because I hate how Arena Net just doesn’t care about the PVP balance. Their balancing system was flawed from the start and they’ve really just made half-kitten attempts at fixing it. Only to make it worse later on. If they wanted to balance this game they need to provide constant updates.
The money needed for these updates can come from a optional subscription fee. Giving subs boosts and some cosmetics. I want this game to be the best because it’s potential is staggering, but the things that need to be done aren’t happening and they have giving us zero reason to believe things will get better. Maybe I shouldnt come back to this game….

Let’s take a look at some of the unbalanced aspects of the game.
-There’s to much variety. As terrible it is to say, it’s true. Giving classes tons of CC and disengage and engage gives them to much while providing little counter play. Conditions/Boons are way to op considering how classes have a lack of removal and they can be stacked. While I know Arenanet is adding an ability to remove conditions and keep them off for a short time, but when I have to give up an utility skill just to bring an ability like this just shows how badly its unbalanced.
-Many professions have to many pro to not enough cons. Take for instance eng, he has a counter for pretty much everything. While they are bad against conditions but so is everyone. In fact in many builds, condition is the ONLY viable counter. Since when is ONE counter among many pros to that profession a good thing? Each profession should be good at some things and bad at others. It should be more of a 50/50. They are good against 50% of the profession builds and bad against the other 50%
-Arenanets balancing team isn’t spending enough time balancing pvp. It’s also been years and they only have a few maps released for pvp. If they want to make this game a major E-Sport then they better get on the ball. Its been how many years and your game still has glaring balance issues? The simple fact you haven’t separated pvp and pve stats blows my mind. Keeping them separate would make balancing so much easier.
I’m sure not everyone will agree with me so tell me what you guys think.
Why cant we que up in spvp for what we want? We choose the maps so we don’t even have to vote. You give us the option to vote why not just let us pick? That way no one has to play on the maps they don’t like.
because the less popular maps would have long queues, driving people to just join the 2-3 popular maps, making the other queues longer and longer until they just die out.
You make it sound like a bad thing…. If the maps bad then they should fix it. In fact my way would show the less than desirable maps.
Why cant we que up in spvp for what we want? We choose the maps so we don’t even have to vote. You give us the option to vote why not just let us pick? That way no one has to play on the maps they don’t like.
Also can we please try and balance the teams before the match in pug matches? Like a 2,21~ 2 heavys 2 mediums 1 light or any variation. Just throwing team together is silly.
While you can dodge or block, you can only dodge so much and classes who have defensive skills still get one shot because they aren’t meant to tank. What i would like is away to hold aggro.
As an old player and a former player of guildwars, I miss the customization I had with my class in GW. Sure the sheer amount of skill made it hard to balance but creating a class that was unique to me was awesome. The current skills in GW2 are so limited that it makes me and I’m sure other feel limited in what they can build with their character.
~Side note: I know you have stated you don’t like so many skills due to balancing issues; its been over 2 years and you haven’t fully balanced what little you do have.
Secondly, you guys still haven’t fix the chaotic fight system in dungeons. I know you don’t want the “holy trinity”, but you haven’t given us a true working system. Try and give warriors some agroing abilities and a good defensive stance made for tanking, Or do it for everyone so there isnt a “tank” profession.
~Side note: The holy trinity is a good system because each and every profession is completely different. You guys tried to get rid of this system because you wanted to be different. I understand that, but making every class almost be able to do the same things kinda takes away what makes them unique. While i agree the holy trinity needs to go, you need to fix this system to make up for what we dont have…a healer….
TLDR: It’s been two years and the same major issues remain poor class customization and chaotic combat. Also are you guys going to touch on these subject or do you like them the way they are?
A new race or profession is HIGHLY UNLIKELY, this game was released August 28, 2012. They already stated they dont want more classes because their terrible balancing team cant balance the game still after over 2 years! To make matters worse its the SAME SKILLS they haven’t added any since release! Lastly to answer you pipe dream of a question, id like a new profession over race.
Blizzard puts out entire expansions about every 2-3 years lol and Aion is trash.
Serious its been over 2 years..(August 28, 2012).. and still not even one new profession. I know you guys have been putting out content ever two weeks in small patches, but 2 years?! I left and come back to this game some many times and id really like something new a new profession to play. Also please fix dungeon parties. No main healer means very chaotic game play.
A new profession or race is fine by me. This game is 2 years old and we havent seen ether. To make matters worse the combat is still kitten y. The massive problems this game had in the very beginning are still here. I.E combat, racial abilities, professions unbalanced, never updating us if they have something in the works (to get the players opinions). Hell if they wont put out content/fixed problems on the level they put out crap for you to buy then this game would be fixed already.
