Sorry I’m a noob to Guild Wars, but not to this style game so I apologize if this question is redundant…

I see for the condition cat 3.0 build the armor & weapons you use is toughness, precision and condition damage focused (which makes optimal sense due to the trait tree distribution).

I searched for gear of the same stat mix, but couldn’t find that specific mix (closest I saw was Condition Damage, power and toughness if I remember correctly).

Could you help me figure out what I am doing wrong?

Osi what are your thoughts on celest chest/legs/helm? I’ve been trying it out and liked the increase condi damage on top of the other stuff i gain, since it helps any mes build that goes down atleast 15 in dueling (almost all builds :P).

edit: whats the base toughness you shoot for each build…1600?

This may be a dumb question, but does the range or area of which the iWarden reflects/hits change depending on character size?

One would think not as it’d be far too easy to just use a larger character or race (i.e. the tallest Norn you can make) to get the maximum amount of reflect coverage, but this dawned on me as I play an Asura mesmer and during dungeons or fractals where you get transformed into another race, the size of the iWarden is obviously much larger. Even if the reflection area is the same between character sizes, it certainly makes it easier to judge how far you can stand from within the iWarden.

Reflection size is always the same. Racial sizing and whatnot affects nothing but animations in any situation.

Try norn necro using Plague then an asura necro…the circle difference is just dumb, i hope its not accurate :P

When gw2 first came out and i saw about face i bound it to one of my razer keys and attempted to do stuff like this, seemed to work every once in a while but not every time for me….then i figured out you can’t have the right mouse clicked when you about face (i’m usually holding it down while running). So ya- if anyone had any problems with it not always working, may be because of you unconscious mouse clicking :P
Now question for anyone who uses this, does it actually make you go faster than just constant running would do? i tried testing it once with a guildie running with no speed. It had seemed to me i gained only a tiny amount, add in that some times i would run backwards it didn’t seem worth it to me. But alas, maybe it was just lag

It is only a slightly faster way of moving compared to regular running, but it becomes more effective the lower the cooldown on Phase Retreat. What makes it so valuable is the fact that it works similar to Blink in that you can phase dash up terrain to get to spots that you would normally have tp run some roundabout way to get to.

PvP is a great example as theres a number of places you can try this trick at. Battle of Kyho, Legacy of the Foefire, and Spirit Watch come to mind off the top of my head.

so for wvw roaming speed is nice, i’m used to centaur runes or traveler runes at this point. So my question…would either of those ruin this build since we dont get the daze duration? Maybe put the daze sigil on weapon to partly make up for it? what are your thoughts. I’d really love to make this build work as i’m tired of PU style :P

the best builds out for the meta atm are the blackwater/condition cat builds right now, but sure heavy 3.0 would still be viable

looks pretty fun, although slow (one of our downfalls ugh), looks like it’s a kill or be killed cause i’m not getting away type! I started off with shatter builds and they are definitely by far my favorite style. I would Love to try this one out, but being tier1 with lots of zerging + conditions + cc going around i just dont think it’d work out. Think i’m gonna drop tiers pretty soon tho so i’ll def be saving this one

mainly im doing it just to avoid having 50 sets of armor i carry around in wvw and obsessively swap around as i obsessively change builds… im forcing myself to be less neurotic… by… being more neurotic in a different way… stupid 1 per day crystals..> BAH!

you’re going to have to overwrite so many runes, hope you dont get any expensive ones like traveler :P

If you do want to roam with the condition cat you can switch out the pistol with focus, it works great for me. You can still get your interrupt via focus, plus swiftness/snare out of it. Plus warden on a downed person is always nice when there are multiple enemy around :P

@Sarkonis, to be honest confusion condition on mobs is only so so since they aren’t auto attacking as much as a player would, so most of the time you only get a tick or maybe 2 before your confusion is off of the mob.

i’ve played shatter builds (which i love) but as vince said above- the stealth/condi build is quite possibly the stronger mesmer build out there atm. I’d go for that one if i were you

@Ckajlooc – the ascended back is from the fractal vendor for about ….i think 1500-1700 tokens (to upgraded it to ascended), not luarels

wearing 4p perplex myself and attacking mobs in wvw, fear doesn’t happen on every single mob but its def happening.

yep its def the staff clones, just tested it on a mob without attacking it myself.

I was wondering which clones were doing it, but yes i noticed it a few times today

I’m not a fan of heavy shatter build, but I tried a fantastic shatter build some months ago.

I don’t really think that with recent nerfs something is changed.

Speaking about runes, I use Superior Rune of the Air

That’s the phantasm hybrid shatter build, good straight dps build but not as mobile/defensive as other builds. It is a fun build, i used this before switching over to heavy (t1 server with all their zerging it just became pointless as its rarely a 1v1).

Hey Osi, quick question to get your opinion on real quick. So i’ve been running heavy 3.0 for a while now which works great, but the killing is a bit slow- compared to the hybrid 2swords i ran before this (i’m on t1 server btw where a zerg could run by at any minute :P), so was just wondering what you’d think about halting strike instead of empowered illusions? 15% over all dmg seems better ofcourse than a random interrupt burst, but then again i dont keep illusions up as long with the hybrid build…thoughts?

Edit: now that i’m looking at the builds, heavy 3.0 really is the best one for t1, mobility and the dmg etc.

I ran 30/0/10/0/30 full bers build just last night in t1, it is definitely doable. Killing won’t be the problem, the problem will be (as it’s always been): stomping and combat mobility.

need a better way to change traits now, good ol’ closet goblin from War would be awesome

oh no not celestial! I’m currently making a set for my necro (extra stats work great with ds power build), but 1 fused quart a day and 5 needed to make a piece is sooo long lol

Hey Osi, i see you have vitality infusion slot on the ascended back- i haven’t done fractals in months but i dont remember off/def slot choice backpacks, with that said i’ve tried to put on a wvw vitality infusion on my current ascended and it doesn’t work so wondering if i need to do fractals again to get another back piece so i can put a vit infusion on it…. ty

To be fair, anyone who links a video (especially for a build, instead of just linking the build) instead of writing it in text first needs to re-evaluate how much time they have free in one day, as I could absorb the text in 30-60 seconds which fills a 15-20 minutes video. And unless it’s a stop-motion video with audio explanations of why which ability was pressed when, this video provides 0 extra information compared to a short snippet of text.

Nemesis over the Necro forums drives me nuts with this. He has his grip on things and his effort to help others is laudable, and I’ve used his guides. But his insistence in using videos can drive me to distraction. I need to check traits? Here I am browsing the playback bar. I want to check his gear? Random browse the playback bar. What sort of sigils in his weapons? Browse the playback bar.

Hahaha yep, i played one of the videos a few months ago assuming it was a few minutes to check out the gear/trait and few clips of it in action…. it turned out to be an hour or so i believe. Ya, i turned it off :P

Another good use is using staff for fleeing! I’ve tried many times to run without a staff but everytime i go right back to it, having a fear/boon removal/snare being placed on a group chasing behind you has saved me too many times to count. Something i just dont get running with axe/wh-focus to go along with my dagger/focus big hitter.

As far as survivability goes, 30 points in soul reap for fast DS really helps out. In my opinion it should be how the necro is without traiting, we should have the fast DS/life force gain you get in soul reap without having to trait for it. Take out 10 points in curses or death magic and put them into soul reap and you’ll be set up a bit more for 1v1.
I run 0/20/20/0/30 and roam all the time using pvt gear but using rabid jewelry so i can still kick out some terror dmg, works pretty well for me!

so anyone know why our utilities seem to cast faster under water? blood is power, spec grasp and epidemic normally 3/4s cast are 1/2s, i didn’t check the rest because i dont care about the others so much- so anyone know why?
It’d be great if they were normally this fast…
