The sad thing is….

Asura T3 chest piece overwrites Arah shoulder piece!!!!!!!

I wanted that Bionic arm on my Asura characters, but I don’t want to lose the awesome look of male cloth Arah shoulder piece either…

ANet, can you please fix that?

I also re-rolled an Asura warrior from my Charr warrior too. Once you go Asura, you can never go back. It is significantly easier to jump and dodge as an Asura, especially if you compare it with Charr characters.

Therefore, when I decide to roll a necro, she has to be an Asura too!!

In WvW, she is most certainly a “fun little zipping zooming pinball of death”. Not to mention she is almost always the last one standing, because that’s the only time you can spot her in a large zerging group.

It’s the worst gear in the game. You’re not invited to groups because you can do everything mediocrely. You’re brought into a group because you specialize in a way that pushes the group forward and helps round out weaknesses or reinforce strengths. That’s how RPGs work.

From a game design standpoint, I don’t think it should be in at all. It’s too tempting for less knowledgeable players.

From a game design standpoint, there are certain profession (for example: Necro) with a certain build can benefit from all-stat equipments. Believe it or not, such necro build in a skillful player’s hand can easily out DPS full zerker warrior/thief (that is, if DPS is the only thing that you care).

In addition, a single all-state equipment may look bad. However, combination of six Divinity runes and accessroy/ring/amulet may not be as bad as you think.

Of course, this requires significant amount of in-game knowledge and understanding of gaming mechanism. It may be a bit difficult to understand for less knowledgeable players.

At any given time, if Canach is NOT following you, he is setting off (or rearm) mines.

You don’t need the message.

Yea, F this dungeon. I tried three times and I"m not doing it again. One time almost every single trap that was spawning was caltrops which do very, very little damage (if any) so I ran around forever triggering them to no useful effect. The few bombs that spawned all spawned right up against a wall where he wouldn’t walk. Next time he did his all detonate skill (which I had already interrupted with pushback once) then took so long to regenerate them that he regained all his health before I could tag him again and the last time every time I rearmed a mine it would either immediately revert under my feet as I was leading him over it or he’d just knock me back into a patch of mines.

What the f___ anet… every f___ing event….

Here are some small (very small, indeed) hints:
(1) If Caltrop trap does very little-to-none damage, then don’t use it to damage him. There are two other kinds, and one of them does significantly more damage to Canach. More importantly, it has an seemingly obvious RED circle when you ID it. I guess that’s probably a hidden hint from ANet?? \(-.-)/

(2) You don’t need to run all over the cave. You only need to run in the main water area, where you have enough space to kite him, enough mines to damage him, and it is close enough that you will not reset him.

(3) The color of mine goes from Red to Green (which you can use to damage him), or spawn —> Yellow —> Red (at this point, you can turn it into Green again). You don’t want to target any YELLOW mine, because even though it turns Green, it still acts as a Red mine.

(4) At any given time, if Canach is NOT following you, look at your chat window, there is a good chance that he will set off all the mines.

(5) All pets/clones/illusions/phantasms/spirit-pets can keep Canach very busy, which will give you enough time to set up a mine (if not a series of mines).

I took all my characters to farm him today, because every character gets one gold in less than 5 minutes.

It’s probably because when the F&F dungeon was added the forum was full of people complaining that they hate grouping for any reason and were annoyed that they had been able to solo all the previous content and then were forced into a group for the dungeon.

I want to know how many of those “I-wanna-solo” come here to complain that Canach is too difficult to kill.

:D

I’m not sure it CAN be done solo—————————since Canach is totally invulnerable to ANY damage (even his own mines). —-————-another prime example of the “cure being worse than the disease”———-“yes Igor, the brain transplant was a success———-but the patient died (of heart failure)”

I just killed him with mines, on my first try, as a warrior.

Some people really need to develop their reading ability, if not their logical-thinking ability. The NPC in the instance provided more-than-enough instruction on how to “use the detector and mine” to defeat Canach… In fact, the ability list on the detector also provide enough hints on how to use the mines to kill Canach…

The issue is not understanding how, but the amount of work needed to pull it off.

1. watch out for boss attacks that launch you, and later for his mine detonation.

2. pinging mines to see what kind they are and apply the appropriate GROUND TARGETED skill from a set of 3. Apply the wrong one, and the mine explodes on you. And all you get is a hazy icon.

3. do all that while running around so that the boss can’t keep hitting you with his basic attack. And watch out, mines also detonate if you get too close. And they only show the trigger circle for a short while after being pinged.

To me that spells information overload.

You can’t be serious. How could this be information overload? If this is indeed information overload, how do you handle regular school/work loads?

You don’t need to remember all the mine types with one ping. You only need to memorize at least two and preferably three due to the skill cool-down timer.

If I remember it correctly, detector skill 5 can interrupt his mine-detonation skill. His base-auto-attack does so little damage to my full-zerker warrior with a 2h sword, full-zerker mesmer, and hybrid condition necro.

I guess ArenaNet can no longer release a more challenge content, otherwise it will be information mega-overload.

Why aren’t there any challenging dungeon?

If they do, can you imagine the chaos on the forum?

For example, have you tried the new solo-instance? Isn’t it easy enough?
Yet, here are the overview of mass complains on the other forum:

“Using item in defeating boss does not match my play style, I rather use my 1337 skills”.
“Boss is too hard for me”.
“Canach is bugged, his mine does not kill him”.
“I can’t kite Canach”.
“I can’t damage Canach with my attack”.
“Too much stuns / knockdown from Canach”.

Best of all:
“I can’t reach the instance because there are too many mobs before the instance”.

So many people came to forum to complain about the difficulty in killing Canach because they can’t even figure out how to kill him with mines. (HINT: talk to NPCs and READ).

How can you introduce any more challenging content? Seriously… You will open a flood-gate on this forum.

If people really want a sightly more challenge content, perhaps they should try Arah first. On the other hand, unfortunately, although ArenaNet already nerfed it into oblivion, so many people still have difficulty with regular mobs and Lupi…

On a more serious note: This patch does suck, and boss encounter was a huge disappointment. I expected something similar to F&F, if not better, but instead, I got ONE ROOM WITH ONE MOB as a boss encounter.

Thank you!
What was wrong was that I was trying to explode the mines when Canach was on top of them using the wrong charge on the mine detector. That proved impsooible for me to time right.

Knowing to turn them green and lure him to them was the key.

At first, I thought you were trolling the forum…

Did you TALK to the NPCs at very beginning of the instance? There are two NPCs with GREEN tags over their heads. They provided more-than-enough details on how to use the detectors and mines…

ANet cannot make it more obvious for people to understand the mechanism of this new instance.

Are legendaries a waste?

Molonlabe.3761

Personally, I’ve decided not to try to craft my favorite legendaries (Bifrost and Meteorlogicus) for this very reason. I’ve seen various asura toons with both and it’s kind of sad – for the person with the scepter, I had to double back, zoom in, and make sure I was actually looking at Meteorlogicus, which isn’t the kind of thing you want when you make a legendary weapon (and I play the game on max graphic settings). You want to show it off as much as possible >:] but on asura this just isn’t feasible. I pity whoever makes Incinerator or Quip of course, but even big two-handeds like Bifrost are practically unnoticeable while sheathed.

I have Meteorlogicus on my human character. Due to its lack of special foot-print and attack animation, even with its little-to-none purple-ish color wave effect while you move, Meteorlogicus doesn’t really stand out much on a human character. (ANet, are you ever going to update the animation of Meteorlogicus???)

However, after seeing another Meteorlogicus (and a Bifrost too) in action on an Asuran Guardian, I have to admit, the purple-ish wave effect actually become more noticeable on an Asuran.

While we are at it, yes, you can clearly see the effect of Bifrost on an Asuran too. However, the weapon skin detail may be a bit difficult to see if you don’t zoom in.

Why did u made an asura?

(1) Much easier to jump, especially if compares with Charr.
(2) A bit more difficult to target in WvW.
(3) Heavy armor and light armor both look awesome on both male and female Asuran (especially Arah armors).

More Chest RNG Weapons

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Molonlabe.3761

Molonlabe.3761

I knew someone who opened 10 BL chests and received two fused weapon tickets and an Abyss dye. I also knew someone who opened 87 BL chests and received nothing.

Assuming this anecdote is true, and assuming they paid cash for the gems instead of converting gold (a big assumption, I’ll admit) it perfectly illustrates the case against rng items. Person B was clearly willing to spend the cash to get a cosmetic item. But because rng – something that is completely beyond a player’s control – was not favorable to them, they had to go without something they obviously wanted.

RNG = Luck.

Let me put it this way:

Person A purchase ONE lottery ticket and won millions of dollars.
Person B purchased an entire lot of lottery tickets and won nothing.

Because luck – something that is completely beyond anyone’s control – was not favorable to everyone. Therefore, lots of people have to go without something they obviously wanted.

Of course, are you going to ask the U.S. government to make lottery “fair” to everyone?

On a more serious note: If everyone owns the same amount of money, then money will have zero value. If everyone owns a Lamborghini, then the value of Lamborghini would drop significantly.

Same rule applies to the in-game item: If these weapon skins weren’t so rare, how many people would actually purchase them? After all, once it becomes “common”, people who are not determined to get them will most likely lose interest immediately.

More Chest RNG Weapons

Molonlabe.3761

Remember when cool items used to cost time, and not money… Glad to see all the people running around with these weapons and know that they spent no effort to get them at all, but instead just opened their wallet.

That is one big assumption you have just made.

(1) It takes time and effort to acquire enough in-game gold to purchase keys.
(2) Even if they purchased keys with real money, it also takes time and effort to earn the real money in real life.

(3) If they purchased chests from TP, instead of getting chests from random drop, with either gold or gem, they actually had the courage to take the big risk of getting nothing (i.e., RNG). That, my friend, is also an effort.

I knew someone who opened 10 BL chests and received two fused weapon tickets and an Abyss dye. I also knew someone who opened 87 BL chests and received nothing.

Now you gotta ask yourself one question: do you have what it takes to open these chests?

Lastly, my question to you is rather simple: what is your effort in getting a new weapon skin? Remember, coming to the forum to post an useless topic will not get you anywhere near a new weapon skin.

(this post contains whining, you have been warned)
I have been playing GW2 since launch and I enjoy it very much, however over time I have noticed that some of the reward systems on launch, and even now with Flame and Frost, show a serious addiction to rewards obtained by chance and NOT by concentrated effort.
First there is Badges of Honor, the reward system in WvW, looted POSSIBLY from a SMALL BAG (which also drops POSSIBLY) from killing players, acknowledging that much of WvW is either travelling large distances or engaging in massive scale battles where dodging and keeping mobile is essential. The best way to get them is not to participate in WvW at all, but to farm badges from the jumping puzzles, thus defeating the entire purpose of going onto WvW, and turning WvW into a repetitive mix of dying constantly or walking around constantly (tho that is probably just me sucking at PvP :P) and possibly not getting anything for it.
Then now, in the Razing update for Flame and Frost, the new weapon skins (Fused) released are awesome, so I have been spending my Easter Holidays farming keys in the hopes of getting a ticket for each of my weapons, I have opened nearly 100 chests and gotten 1 ticket, aka hours (sometimes 5 at a time) of farming keys and I got one ticket, and according to the posts on other forums i’ve read I should be grateful even for that. Like the badges I can’t get the tickets for even participating in the new content, I get them by either spending in the TP or farming keys at 1 per 30 minutes.
This is just what I’VE experienced, i’m sure there are other rewards in-game which rely on luck to obtain, which we may not get even after hours of work.
It’s not all bad news; I find the 1/3 chance of mystic clovers very reasonable; it’s chance, but the chance is high enough that you do see results enough times to keep motivated, plus this is for a component of LEGENDARY WEAPONS, which are supposed to be the highest weapons in-game, surely this probability (or even higher) is reasonable for simple tokens and skins for weapons.
The whole thing is like a boss in a job saying “work whatever hours as you want, but we’ll pay u whenever we want” even if you only worked one hour a week, you’d still expect to be paid for that one hour because you still put your time into it. I believe it should be the same for rewards in GW2.
I understand that GW2s lack of endgame hurts its replayability compared to other MMOs, so you have updates and grinding to give the players something to do, but I believe rewards by chance can only go so far. As a gamer I don’t mind grinding, I don’t mind difficult challenge, I don’t mind needing to work for ages to get something (at the end of the day that’s what extends the life of any game in any genre), I don’t even mind paying real money for something as simple as a weapon skin, but I DO mind putting hours of my time into something I might not be rewarded for, especially my FREE time.
Does anyone else feel this way? do you want the chance factor exchanged for more rewards with high needs that you’re certain to obtain after ages of work (like the Mystic Forge items and dungeon weps)? Do you want the chance to be improved for more minor items like weapon skins, which give no real edge or Achievements in-game besides looking nice? Do you want me to get over myself and stop trying to be smart? Or do you have something you’d like to add or suggest?
Responses would be appreciated

A friend of mine, who opened 10 chests, received 2 tickets plus an abyss dye.

./nod

Regarding the mystic clover, it is an average of 33% instead of exactly at 33%. In another word, with crappy lucky like I have, it was a little less than 10% instead of 33%.

It sucks to be ANet.

People will complain when there is no option.
People still complain when there are options.
People continue to complain when these options are easier/harder than they expect.

Lots of people believe that it should take “skills” to acquire certainly equipment/skin. However, the very same people often forget that it probably takes more skill to make “gold” (or, rather, real money in real life) in game.

Of course, one can always say “it is easy to make gold in GW2”, “TP trading is always easy” on an internet forum…

Then again, if that’s the case, wouldn’t you have your skins (or any things else, really) already?? If making gold is so easy, you wouldn’t be here complaining in the first place.

If, just a big if, someone makes $200 dollars an hour in real life, will it make sense for him to farm CoF for “your mighty easy 10g” an hour? Or use “the mighty skill” to farm the box for many hours?

fire elemental used to be like what you describe. zergs would wipe, piles of corpses, people getting angry at the noobs, etc. let me paint you a picture of what you faced:
1 ember every 1000 range, so you’re almost never out of range of one
fire balls landing everywhere. when they hit you, you get thrown, stunned, and delt half of your life in damage. likely to get hit again before you can get back up. something to note: the effect would happen just before the red circle appeared, making dodging impossible.
flame attack that travels along the ground is about the same as now…
people would be timid and huddle near the bridge, so that was where all these attacks were focused, so you likely got nailed while you were approaching.
don’t even consider going there unless you’re at least level 30 (even though it downlevels you to 15), as you couldn’t even survive one fire ball.
it would take 30-60 minutes of the best skills you could bring to bare, along with 5-20 wp runs, to defeat this beast. even with 50+ players present.

I would love to see all the world dragons becoming significantly more difficult.

However, can you imaging the number of “hate”, “anger”, “cry-baby” and/or “OMG” posts that will appear on this forum if ANet scales all dragons to that level?

In fact, have you looked at how many posts complaining about AC lately? laugh
