Yes, I’ve often wondered that too – must not be fun to play against almost empty servers at 3am EU servers time. NA could do with a French language sever too imo.

Repairing (rebuilding after being destroyed) cannons, mortar & oil does not count as participation it seems? Should be the same as wall repair.
I play WvW with my Druid, mainly roaming / scouting. My ping is really bad, so melee is not an option unfortunately. I love my traps & the stealth they give with trapper runes, so am currently using condi build (all dire). The problem is that longbow & staff are not great for condi build. I’ve experimented with mix of power + condi with limited success. If anyone has advice regarding a ranged trapper build, please let me know. Thanks!

Also.. with concern about new players tagging up in WvW for the up-and-coming reward gains, being able to see the commanders WvW rank in squad panel would certainly help players decide on an effective squad to join.
When in a party, WvW rank is displayed in the panel, but when in a squad it’s the world xp score shown. Please Anet can you change that? A PvE-er with 30k xp does not necessarily mean they’re well versed in WvW.

True I won’t need them all, but with no map exploration on new toon (and I only play WvW) still means a heck of a long journey to get the ones I want. Already used my shared WP’s to get a few.

I created a second ranger on my account, so I could have both a fully equipped zerker and condi build at the ready. Used my tomes of knowledge to level up to 80, and my proofs of heroics to get elite Druid. .. But wait.. what!?? No pets? I now have to run all over maps collecting them all again? Other classes wouldn’t need to do that to complete their builds. Pls Anet, once a pet is charmed let my other build access it too.
Full condi with trapper runes. Set all 3 traps and stand in the middle. Might not kill them outright, but sure annoys the crap outta them.
.. oh, then let the arrows rain down on them while they are still stunned from spike trap

Form a Small Group and Flip a TowerBasically anything/everything that doesn’t require a Zerg to do, and remember, the Commander is only one person, keep faith in yourself and others to do work, and don’t allow having no Commander cripple your resolve.
I think the main problem is we all try those things solo or with a small crew. The sentry markers show the lonely dot, blob comes, runs you over.
Just FYI supply traps:
*Disappears when the player that placed the trap leaves the map.
*Each player can have one of each type of WvW trap deployed at a time; setting a second one replaces the first.
Some little things…
- move npc’s (merchants / quartermaster etc) away from supply (so can’t accidentally start dialog instead of supply pick up)
- move synthesizers away from any repairable walls (so they are not in the way when trying to rep walls in a hurry)
- allow items from ’traps and tricks" merchant to be purchased without needing badges of honour
- reduce the number of flax fibres required for ‘minor supply drop’ – perhaps by removing the linen supply sack required for copper reinforcing plate
- be able to trade empyreal fragments / dragonite ore / bloodstone dust for badges of honour
- include an ‘info’ icon on tactivators so new players know what they are
- if a guild places schematic upgrades on a tower / keep which is not their claim (emergency wp’s etc), say the guilds name on those improvements.
Well yes, essentially it’s still a linking server system, but the linked servers would have a different role. Instead of them being filled with players-left-behind-when-everyone-else-left, they will be filled with players wanting to be mercenaries. The link changes could be regular as needed, perhaps max once per week at reset. And there could be a recruiting system for those servers too – based on what time of day you play (to get balance). To start it all off, Anet could offer free transfers to and from those mercenary servers.
I think it could be based simply on what servers have the greatest need at that time based on population fluctuations. Since we can’t stop people mass-bandwagoning, at least a mercenary server can step in and fill the void when it happens.
How about, instead of having different server merges every 2 months, we have ‘mercenary’ servers who go where and when they are needed? This would balance population (to some degree) / be fun for those smaller servers who currently feel they have lost some identity / be fun for the players on those mercenary servers. The mercenary servers could fix unbalanced timezone play too. Eg; a couple of those mercenary servers could be made up by a larger nightcapping population etc.

1. When being asked to defend your tier 3 Keep, you should:
a. Laugh at them and go AFK.
b. Tell them you are coming but really just run around randomly looking for roamers to kill.
c. Immediately rush to their aid.
d. Pretend you didn’t see their 75 cries for help and continue to lay siege to a Keep you have no chance of taking.
2. How much siege should you carry?
a. None – just run to gate and wait for someone to drop ram for you
b. Just a few regulars is fine
c. None and tell people to mail them to you
d. A lot of all siege, and when ppl mail you some say ty.
Why are Aussies on SoS – is ping somehow better there? What is considered good ping for Aussies playing NA or EU servers?
I’ll admit it – I’m a WvW tragic; rarely have I missed a day in 2 years. Because of my time zone, I play at times when server population is probably lowest. So you get to know the regular players. It’s always nice to chat to new players, and inevitably they’ll end up telling me that they’re here for legendary / daily / karma / xp or loot. Yesterday I was chatting to a newbie and he told me that he’s playing for (..and you’re not going to believe this…) FUN. Well puppy me!! Nearly fell off my chair.
People will complain if Anet makes this change, or complain that Anet never changes anything in WvW – so either way there’s gonna be a bunch of whiners. So I say just go ahead and do it, will sure shake things up and give people something else to complain about for a while.
Is it possible to have too much condition damage so it’s therefore wasted? If so, what maximum level in build would be recommended?
The first time I found myself in WvW (‘hmmm, i wonder where this portal goes…’) I asked for help, and immediately got a party invite and ppl whispering me with advice. Maybe I just logged on at the right time, or my server has nicer players – but you could try that perhaps.

3. Place Npc’s further way from supply area, to avoid accidentally activating dialogue when grabbing supply in hurry.

This is quite a pointless/selfish topic.
People live in different timezones and you’re basicly saying that they shouldn’t be allowed to play the game while you are sleeping. Serisously.. come on now.
I think people are missing the point here. No-one’s saying don’t play whenever you want – but if golems are removed from play at times when some servers have 10 times as many players as others, then it’s more fun for everyone.
You can’t rip off other players wvw fun just because you and your servermate are sleeping. Think about if my play time is your night time, your play time could also be my night time so you shouldn’t able to night cap my world as well.
So it’s only fun for you if you have golems to cap un-defendable towers and keeps? Wouldn’t it be better to have some competitive play?
oh, forgot to mention that by building their golems they use all sups from our bdl, so we can’t build siege to defend against said golems. That’s fun too.
I get that it’s hard to make scoring fair when when some servers just have huge numbers of night-cappers. And that it’s annoying as hell when those servers run zergs of 30 when other servers are lucky to have 5 players on at that time. But what REALLY sh*ts me is when those massive zergs run with omegas too. Not only is that pathetic as hell but makes defending impossible. Please Anet, get rid of golems from night-capping. Or even better, get rid of them completely.
Hello McKenna, when on Monday will you be removing the restrictions? Eg; what time GMT. If the world I want to transfer to is still full though – do you have wait lists?

We are going to be removing the artificial transfer restrictions we placed on linked worlds. Linked worlds originally had these restrictions to prevent them from achieving double the population of unlinked worlds, through mass transfers. This safeguard has, so far, proved unnecessary and we think it is doing more harm than good. We’ll be removing this restriction on Monday; which means some worlds that are currently Full will drop to Very High or High. As always, we’ll be closely monitoring world populations after making this change, in case further adjustments are needed.
It’s just hard when you make friends with players on another server, then have to fight with your ‘enemy’ against them. So from the point of view of one of those smaller servers who have been re-merged, today does not feel great. It’s like we have been Brexit-ed against our wishes. :-(

Anyway as for the Deso link – we have low numbers but high activity, play WvW with the same people most days and I suppose it gives the illusion we are over populated. Look at the last 2 weeks, we lost some pug commanders, people got bored of PvD and abit of focus – our PPT nosedives.
Gandara seem in the same boat, smart play – no one usually hits their stuff cause it’s generally sieged and plenty of small groups around but they all converge to defend something. Yet whilst they are left around these small groups PPT and back cap faster than any other server – yet sometimes they blob it up and blow kitten up. Yet again just because PPT is high it doesn’t mean they are populated as much as a server that can only cap stuff / defend something with a tag up and someone telling them what to do.
Anet got it right, kept t1 populated enough to keep it interesting whilst keeping healthy populations in the lower tiers to keep people amused / having fun. The French servers all together is probably causing an amusing amount of drama but atleast now if you get a crap matchup you only have 1 French server to fight instead of 2 at once, will give you another random server to have fun with at the same time.
Lower tier gameplay / preferences / “game style” is slowly dying out and the the majority want multiple active maps / blobs / multiple guilds to fight so anet are slyly merging more servers together to create more population across the board with fewer tiers. Soon “blue / red / green” EOTM style WvW won’t seem bad because server identities are going to keep the game healthy.
Anyway Desos a blast, had many “enemies” spent years fighting now merged with us and had fun, games fun for now, so stop being salty guts and just play
I know this is a little off topic, but I’d like to see the option to build golems removed from night capping. It’s one thing for 3 people to defend keep against blob of 30+, but when they simply come back with 4 golems it’s impossible. That can’t be fun for them either.
I’ve found that lag has greatly increased lately, am thinking it’s due to the influx of new players since GW2 was offered for free? If that is the reason, it doesn’t seem fair that paying players suffer so others can play for free. Lag is so bad today I can’t play at all. (Which means I might have to do some work instead, and I REALLY don’t want to!) xD
