Death by fire is the purest death.
I love that some players reaction is to state “join a bigger guild”. Pure comedy.
It’s been that way since guild missions went in. Some people just can’t conceive why someone wouldn’t want to be a member of a 400-person guild. Unfortunately, it looks like ArenaNet agrees with them.
Unfortunately from the dev responses we’ve had, they’ve put their foot down and are adamant that they don’t see a problem, and that things won’t change.
More and more things are exclusive only to those in large guilds, with nothing being given to those in small guilds. And it looks like this is the way things are going to continue. It’s a sad state of affairs from a game where a five-person group used to be the ideal size.
MORE things locked so that only large guilds can use them?
The direction things have been heading is troubling.
Yes, definitely leave it in. I haven’t had this much fun in GW2 in a long time.
So you have helped out small-guilds who simply couldn’t GAIN or BUY the influence. What makes you think these guild can then DO the guild missions as they currently stand? That’s the problem you are missing here.
Haven’t missed it. I’m fully aware of this perspective, however, we have always said that these guilds who are extremely limited in number will have to work together to attain these goals. That’s what this content is about. That’s these rewards are about.
There’s a huge variety of content and rewards available in the game. And while some rewards can be attained several ways, others are reserved as merit for specific tasks. This is no different from dungeon armor, achievement titles, or the map-completion badge. Certainly we would never give you those things for completing guild content.
In that case, can we have rewards that can only be obtained in a small guild?
Yeah, so this is a half-fix. It helps with the influence-earning, but doesn’t help us keep guild members who will leave over lack of loot.
This is one of the problems that we’re specifically trying to address here. Even if your entire guild is representing another guild, you can have these training missions researching in your inactive guild and then swap back over to complete them for massive influence gains.
Without personal rewards like commendations, I don’t see much incentive for most people to do that.
If it doesn’t reward merits, commendations, rares, or silver, then what’s the point?
Lowering the amount of people required before overflow happens was the wrong way to fix it. I’d rather be lagged than not be there at all.
Well I know what I’m doing with my guild bank!
After what happened last time one of those swords was broken, I’m surprised you’re still around to post this.
I would like to know where did you get that information (I’m not saying you’re wrong btw). But for what I could get by looking at the trees, you just have to research to lvl 6 and then unlock the “basic” version of the missions. The other ones down in the tree do require all that you mentioned.
The information comes from the in-game guild panel. Mouse over each unlock and it shows the icons of what it requires. Each one requires a previous mission type unlock. Other than bounties, there are none that cost no merits or have other mission unlock prerequisites.
Check again. Every tree has a mission type at lvl 6 that doesn’t require commendations. The other ones are challenges or a harder version of the lvl 6 ones.
You’re mistaken. Not only do all of the unlocks except bounties require merits, they also require previous unlocks first. i.e. You have to unlock them sequentially, Bounties → Treks → Rushes, etc.
Then let me be the next to provide a link to this excellent post outlining what we perceive to be the problem, as well as possible solutions:
Honestly, every page in this thread should have this link (except the page that has the posts in question).
This post is incredible. I can’t click thumbs-up enough.
It seems that, as with the ascended gear thread, our concerns are being shoved into one place so they can be easily ignored. Expect this thread to get locked soon without response, like that one was.
What’s the new sound? The Predator is something I’m working towards.
I’m fairly confident that my smallish guild could do the content of guild missions… if we actually had access to them. Hundreds of thousands of influence is extremely prohibitive.
Saying a small guild can just buy the influence they need with 100g is like saying “What, you don’t have bread? Why aren’t you just eating cake?”
This will absolutely spell the death of small guilds.
Absolutely ridiculous.
I’m the leader of a small guild made up of RL friends. We will be completely unable to take part in this content without merging with some mega-guild. Considering I’ve previously been hyping my guild up about all the new things we’ll be able to do together, this is an extreme disappointment.
Isn’t Dinky a guardian? So there is a precedent for it at least.
Absolutely not. If I wanted all the work I’ve done to be completely meaningless when the next expansion comes out, I’d play one of those other MMOs. Ascended gear was bad enough, we don’t need more levels.
And please make them directly buyable from the gem store, not randomly found in chests.
I found most of the areas I was missing were jumping puzzles.
They added a couple new ones with the Lost Shores update, you might check those.
I’d like to buy my friends some things in the gem store for Wintersday.
I know I could just send the equivalent gold amount, but man that’s not as classy.
This is the best mini-related idea since “let’s put in a creepy undead chicken mini” and I support it 100%.
