Came here to say the same thing; staff 3 is broken with pet fields; it can’t be intentional since it’s a blast finisher in a combo field.

So I’ve been watching PoF announcement and wanted to give some feedback on some things I did not like.

1. I understand the core stuff for PoF will be the 5 new maps (so exploration) and mounts. During WoodenPotatoes stream I saw the masteries for the mounts; if i remember correctly it is going to be 4 (mounts) x 22 mastery points each. In my opinion this is not really enough. While I can’t say that I know the amount of experience required, 88 MP seems too low for the expansion. Probably 48 hours with boosters till I reach the cap. I expect way more.

2. So WoodenPotatoes managed to show some elite specs; BogOtter also showed some elite specs (but some were the same with the ones WP showed); AuroraPeachy had problems recording the skill bar so most things are still a mystery.

So the problem is, even if you allowed some streamers to show stuff, I’m still clueless about the skills and traits for some specs (Soulbeast for example).

It would have been so much easier, in my opinion, if you would have created some beta accounts that can access only some PvP lobby and each of them would have one elite spec on them. Then give the accounts to partners. WP gets thief, Bog get Revenant, Aurora gets Ranger and so on. They can do anything they want, record at their own pace within some clearly set limits.

3. . I expected at least some small mentions about raids, fractals, PvP and WvW. Something like "More info on PvP and WvW in the weeks to come and with the launch of S4E1 you can enter the new raid “Anise is Livia’s Daughter” to face some new challenges.

So the players that want to start raiding have a good couple of easy or entry level bosses that they can do. If they are after the legendary armor they can get it with the bosses from the first four wings, which aren’t that hard. Currently the devs made the raids so that they can be completed by a good amount of people so that legendary armor isn’t that “exclusive”. Great. So if we exclude these players that only want the legendary armor, they can obtain it by doing the first 4 wings. There is no need for them to go any further as raids don’t mean anything else to them except “legendary armor”. What’s left? The players that the raids should have been actually made for. The hardcore elitists that looked for some challenge in the game. The skill level of top players is rising and so should the difficulty of raids. The level for the challenge motes in W4 would make a nice normal mode in future raids, and on top of that add extra layers of diffculty for unique titles, rewards, skins.

Why? This “mechanic” was meant for new players to learn when they are doing something wrong. Why does it apply to legendary items?

So, just run the favored 8 paths. Anyone that ran all paths for the 43 Gold before the nerf would run all the paths after the nerf, no? Wasn’t the ‘nerf’ to discourage just running the one (or two) easy speed-run paths, and to encourage players to run the other paths therefore spreading out dungeon-runners to possibly include newer (to dungeons) players?

Wrong. 8 paths now -> 5 gold and some more tokens. 8 paths before (if i would choose Arah) -> 20-25 gold and some less tokens. The difference (in gold) from the tokens you get now and the tokens you got before is way lower than the 15-20 gold liquid difference.

As anyone can see, the “nerf” HIGHLY encouraged players to run dungeons. Yep.

Also you don’t understand, the idea is for the veteran players to come back to dungeons to play with the new players. That’s the way new players would learn the mechanics in the game. But most aren’t, they are in raids and T4 fractals. Why? Because they are rewarding. Why aren’t they in dungeons? Because they are not rewarding. If dungeons were rewarding, the veteran players would be doing them. Can you follow?

we also get more tokens now. you used to get 60 per path, now it’s 100, plus 150 choosable tokens every 8 paths.

This is wrong. Story paths are not really meant for much replayability, most of them are long, boring and not worth the time. Also in order to get that 42g you would have to run all paths, and some players would not want to run things like AC P3 or CoF P2 as it’s not worth the time. Doing all the paths in many hours versus doing the paths that are time worthy on a daily basis. That’s what this is about. Second option was the one before the nerf.

If what you say it’s true, then the incentive to play dungeons now should be the same or even higher than before the nerf. Oh wait, it isn’t. Because nobody wants to dedicate many hours to run ALL the paths when they could have gotten the same rewards by playing SOME paths in 2 days in a way less amount of time.

The only people that benefit from dungeons right now and make even more gold than before the nerf would be the ones that have most of the dungeon recipes. But this is a small part of the playerbase and even for them is harder as it’s not easy to find a group. The amount of tokens was increased and can be easily converted with the recipes into large amounts of gold. But for the most players getting all the tokens and convert to rares to salvage for ectos or exotics for insignias is still not getting close to the gold you could get pre-nerf.

Even if you are focusing on new content, Living Story, Expansion and so on there are two things that should be addressed as quickly as possible:

- Living Story 1. The recap will not do it. Also telling the players to go watch online some video with the recap will not work. I, personally, got the game to play it, not to watch a lore video I don’t know where. If I’d be a F2P player that came to this game for the story/lore, tried the game for free, played the story, then someone would tell me I’d have to go watch online some 3h recap of LS1 I’d say kitten it and move to another game, not even considering buying the expansions. After you finish the original story you suddenly wake up with 5 randoms that call you boss. Also with the expansion coming, consider making a pack with the Living Story S2 and S3 included. Having to buy the game, then finding out I have to pay more to enjoy the story looks like a total rip-off. Yeah, gold can be converted to gems, then buy LS but why do I have to farm in-game a good amount of hours to play the story? I would understand if it was items, currency, titles, skins whatever, but the story? If you tell me to buy gems I’ll say that I already paid 60$ for the game that’s Pay Once, Play It, why do I have to pay more?

- Dungeons. You want players to be good at the game? Increase the rewards in dungeons. Because dungeons are the perfect place for players to learn mechanics, how to use combo fields, skips, prestack might, swiftness, where to use reflects and so on. Having players starting with Fractals because it’s hard to find groups for dungeons might not be the best idea. When they get to T4 they have no clue how anything works there, simply because the way from first fractals to T4 is filled with players just like them, mostly clueless. Then wonder why it’s hard for them to get in raids..

Stability (20s): Cannot be knocked down, pushed back, pulled, launched, stunned, dazed, floated, sunk, feared or taunted.

Duration: 20s

After a couple iterations it used to pulse boons every 3 seconds and now, with yesterdays patch it’s again a one time cast?

I don’t get this balance.

Legendary Armor Backpiece Attach Point

Would be nice if the votes would count ONLY if the people have made the legendary armor. So have a look at the people that answer. Others opinions on the matter should not count at all.

Floating is the right answer. I’m using medium armor and Aurene backpiece. The problem is that the backpiece is relatively small and getting it more closer to the skull on the back will make the clipping horrible. Small backpiece, big part of it in the skull, the skull not visible. It’s just not a good idea.

[SPOILERS ENTIRE CHAPTER]

So. I crafted the medium legendary armor. It’s meh. Backpieces float behind the armor. This is not 2 years of working.

I finished the story chapter, the map, got the mastery, tomorrow I’ll probably finish the achievements.

Story. Balthazar. Makes literally no sense. After teasing with “Who is Lazarus” you put a random dude there and explained nothing. What he wants to do? Why? Where is the story going in episode 6? Why did he left at the end? This should have been explained in THIS CHAPTER. It’s almost a joke: “How many episodes does it take Lazarus-now-Balthazar to reveal his plan?” A: 5 years and 2 expansions.

Map is meh. 3 layers. Way too much to run around without purpose just to get from point A to point B. The Mastery, however, is pretty cool.

Story instances. Most of the story is go from point A to point B then to point C. In the last story instance was it really necessary for the same mechanic to happen 4 times? Yes, 4. When I’m fighting Balthazar’s dogs I’m counting it as same mechanic. The instance is pretty huge with some animations but the fight happens on a single platform. Do tricks like this really work in 2017 to impress the audience?

Anyway, episode was kinda lame. Better luck next time.

And I though sPvP always crippled the rest of the game with stupid balancing decisions …

For a time it was but they did that split but for some reason the split was made between spvp and pve that it. No real split between raids open wold pve dungeons/fractal and wvw.

explain to me how balancing with raids kittens up the 5 mans and the open world?

Some guy just needed something to pick on raids. He’s not even using logic, math or data, he’s using his “feelings”.

Watch the video again to see the context. They were guessing as to what they might be able to pull off prior to launch; they weren’t promising anything.
Raids hardly needs a road map; it’s a game mode that has gotten consistent updates since the first encounter in the first raid. If anything, those who don’t raid are envious of the amount of updates.

Provide me the context then.
I don’t care what the people that don’t raid think of raids. They have their own stuff / game modes they are interested in. Good for them. Here we are talking about one of the selling points for HoT.

Besides that, you’re going off a 2 year-old video; many, many things have changed since then (including members of the raid team).

Unless Anet said somewhere that this video no longer reflects reality, this video is up-to-date. Legendary weapons were said to come 2 years ago so the full set shouldn’t be finished because it’s a 2 years old statement?

It’s fine to want more content (who doesn’t want that?). However, try to get some perspective on what we’ve already gotten; the last year and a half have been good for raids.

We barely got anything for one year and a half, in my perspective. 8 months for one raid wing? Really?

I don’t think you understand. This was at a Twitchcon panel on upcoming Raids in Hearth of Thorns. They were there to promote the expansion. This was made as a selling point for HoT. Which means that a client goes to ANet and asks them: “yo, dudes, why should we buy your expansion?” and Anet replies “if you are interested in raids, we might be able to crank about 6 raids per year”. Okay, problems come and can’t be solved really fast, so the timeline might get adjusted, everyone understands that. But one raid in 8 months?. That video is a Q&A where there are some questions asked and answered about an expansion. The devs weren’t there to talk about their personal lives, they were there to talk about HoT and what’s coming with it.

m16:20 “The next two wings will be available early next year, like early early, don’t think like they’re gonna come out in May”. Really early indeed, like mid-june for SotF.

m16:55. “Early guess would be like 6 per year”. SV – 2015; SP, SotF -2016; BotP -2017. Okay, I get that it’s a guess. But I bought HoT on the idea that I would get more than this. Problems arise, not everything can be released on a strict deadline but we went from 6 wings to 2 wings per year? It’s obvious that the next raid won’t see the light till after the next expansion since it took 8 months for raid 4 to be released.

Does the raid team want to share some up-to-date roadmap for the raids? When is the next wing coming? What happened that one of the selling points for HoT (atleast for me) was not respected?

The 4th boss wiping a second time isnt a bug. Once you gg your party is dead, and you are ressing to fast. Some captive in the boss fight dies once the fight is over and kills everyone in the area… (something like that) so just wait a few seconds and you will be fine.

Red circles – sounds like that’s more of a problem on your end.

1. Wrong. It’s a bug and it should be adressed. Telling 10 ppl not to ress when the button that says “retry” is up? Really? Not a bug?

2. Wrong. Not my problem on my end but a problem with playing the game on lower settings. You shouldn’t be forced to play on higher to see MECHANICS.

Sup. Got all down and looking forward to challenge motes. Now some problems.

2nd boss respawn point. Literally on the platform were the first boss died.
4th boss. After you respawn after a wipe you get insta killed a second time. Need to repair armor a lot more times.

As an idea till now, could you remove armor being broken in raids? That was initially added in the game to point players that they are doing something wrong and they need to change tactics. But this is raid. Players should be somewhat … skilled. And if they do things wrong, they die. Like .. come on.

4th boss red circles on the ground with the hands coming out. This is the biggest problem. I can’t see most of them. When they go towards the boss it’s basically a game of luck. Sometimes green (very rarely) doesn’t show. Would be nice if there was an option to reduce the quality of them to some simple red circles so people could see them.

Hi all,

We’re wrapping up work on Episode 4 of Living World Season 3 and expect to launch it in February, hitting our normal cadence of a new episode every 2~3 months. I want to give a quick heads-up here on a few topics that I know the community is anticipating, things that will and won’t be bundled with this episode.

This release will include the promised fix to AB multi-looting. The fix is simple: you can loot each of the great and grand chests once each time you complete the meta, once per map cycle.

This release will also include a new, challenging group-farming spot for leather.

This release won’t include legendary armor. We’re getting close to completion, though, and may be able to ship legendary armor with the Ep5 release.

This release won’t include a skill balance update. As we did last time, we’ll ship the next skill balance update off-cycle from Living World releases.

I’ll try to keep this as short and “on point” as possible. Since June 14, 2016 when Stronghold of the Faithful was released, the raiding community has not received any new releases. The raiding community is hungry for some new content. Would be nice if you could speed things up.

Here are a couple of things that the community might say, so I answer beforehand.

It’s better they take their time and to make a good release
You’re right. However it’s been 6 months. Months ago the new raid needed some tweaks for 2 of the 4 bosses.

There were a lot of new releases since then, ANet is focusing on lots of stuff
That’s nice. However those have their own target audience. The team that works on instance content (fractals, raids) is separated. Living Story, Halloween, Wintersday, PVP Season have their target audience. As Raids do. And raids haven’t received a release in a long time.It’s obvious that not the devs that work on a content decide when to push a release but hopefully some of the people that decide will find and read this.

I think they should focus on other things first, as WvW or
Very nice but this is the “Fractals, Dungeons & Raids” subforum. Mostly read by the devs that work at.. well .. fractals, dungeons?, raids. I’m sure your ideas to improve or focus on some stuff would be much better viewed in their respective subforum.

As an idea for ANet, you wanted to make a different MMO. Don’t see the releases on a single string. Now we release PvP Season 5 and Wintersday so the community got something to do for the next two months. Then we will release Chinese new year and the community will have something to do for many weeks. See them on different strings.
Now I release Living Story X, how much time till the target audience for that will get bored? I release a new raid wing, how much will that keep their target audience engaged before they lose interest? Because if you see it the first way, I haven’t got any content for 6 months. And it’s not even that time gap when you will announce the next expansion and you won’t release anything to focus on it.

Infinite Mist Omnipotion

Gotta play the class. Having too much endurance means you have to dodge if you want the buff. That’s gameplay if you want conditional buffs.

What? When I play thief or warrior I simply choose what infinite potions I want to put on me. I also want one shared slot to be used instead of three.

Thief also has a trait that gives them 10% extra damage for 4 seconds after dodging, and makes that dodge deal damage. With a Mist Mobility Potion you can make use of that trait much more often.

You can already make use to that trait to the max without the buff. That’s the idea of making a party of highly experienced players with perfect DPS rotations. The mobility potions get in the way.

The focus in fractals(and pretty much any other content except training golems) shouldn’t be on getting perfect dps buffs. 99% of the time having more dodges is better.

you won’t fail a fractal because you didn’t have that buff 100% of the time.

The focus in fractals in MY group is what I decide to be. If I want perfect DPS buffs in a perfect scenario then that’s my focus. I’m already part of a hardcore PVE guild in which we are able to pull this off.

Peeps, I’m not talking about pugging, lfg, random group compositions, 4 necro 1 druid.
The options I asked in my first post are for the players that want to achieve some perfect scores. If you don’t like it, you can simply ignore it, as it doesn’t affect you in any way.

Infinite Mist Omnipotion

I don’t really understand the post. I just have one infinite omnipotion in shared inventory slot…whichever char I’m on can just double-click it. Why would you only want one of the buffs!?

Professions like Warrior or Thief have traits that increase their DPS if endurance is not full. They should not use the Mist Mobility Potion.

This is currently the best 5 man content put in the game. High Level Fractals are finally starting to feel as they should. We did this with one heal druid, one engi, one dragonhunter, one necro and one condi mesmer. I tend (or I’d like) to believe that skill and experience with a class matter more in this fractal than a specific group combination. At the end you receive some decent rewards, one Caustic nightmare skin, the title and 5 APs.

The orbs don’t deal that much damage so you don’t really feel them unless you eat tens after tens. What matters is to look on the ground for the red circles, those are the problem. If you use 5 stack potion + have some protection (condi druid has on dodge for example) you can easily solo all 5 circles.

There is no need for “story” mode as raids don’t have that much of a story. Everything is pretty much go to next boss, defeat it, go to next one. If you’re really interested in some aspects you can watch youtube videos or read some guides online.

I’ve did it today at T4 and I have to say that implementing raid-like mechanics was a great idea The encounters were decent and required some dexterity. Players can be a bit punished during the last encounter if they are not depleting the breakbar fast enough. Overall it’s a great fractal. Hope fractals become a good stepping stone for players that want to go to raids after.

The episode was ok but I want to point out some things I did not like about the map and story.

- the jumping puzzle is messy. Jumps aren’t hard but orientation is a problem.
- last story mission can’t be failed. If the shield drops to 0 it goes back up at 15-20%. Lazarus can finish everything by himself.
- Marjory and Lazarus simply dissapear after they go down the stairs; some sort of portal there would have been nice.

Stow/Draw Kudzu flowers at your feet are dissapearing too fast. It doesn’t allow to take a clear view at what’s happening. Also, Barrage #5 could use some love. It’s currently the only skill that is not affected in any way by Kudzu.

I’m experiencing massive ping spikes (from 70-80 to 2-3k) and lots of random DCs since tuesday’s patch. I’ve never had those before. It’s simply unplaylable for most of the time. Any ideas?

POSSIBLE SPOILERS W3

After defeating Xera we still have no clue as to what happened to Lazarus and what his plan is. What we know for sure is that we are starting to encounter more and more of White Mantle supporters. With LS3 coming (hinting alot at the white mantle) it would be a great opportunity to to have a Boss Raid Wing where we fight Lazarus. This might actually make sense; after we defeat Xera we are about to go near the Bloodstone. See http://guide.thatshaman.com/ for reference.

I’m perfectly fine with this. Seems like a very decent cap.
Since it will be more time till legendary armor will come you can fill your missing LI.

In what way? As far as I know the raid team is a 5/6 man team.

Wait, is there anyone that really believes that? It can be 6 people planning the strats but a raid needs people to do the art, the models, the maps, the new weapons and armour, all the sound effects and textures… is there music written for them too? Not sure on that one. I find it hard to believe all those concept and environment and model and sound artists are counted in those six people anet said are working on raids. Yeah right…

As someone who raids multiple time during the week the fact that the raid team consistently brings in new content is something I really appreciate.
Hope you guys won’t stop with the next wing and keep bringing more quality raid content as fast as possible
