Back at launch me and a bunch of friends made a guild, now 2 years later nearly everyone has gone inactive including the guild leader who has not been on for over a year. I really like the guild and have invested quite abit into it and tried occasionally to bring it back, but without a guild leader it’s not really possible to do. Is there an official way of replacing an inactive guild leader in this situation?

I keep reading on Reddit about the fact that in early beta weekends of GW2 the game had smarter AI, would kite and avoid aoe, that were removed for making the game too hard. Now that everyone has adjusted to the game and encounters are getting easier due to the prevalence of stacking, is there a reason that it’s not been re added to the game? I’d really appreciate an official answer to this because it seems like such a good idea in principle and I’d be interested in what has influenced the decision to keep it out.

I was once in a 1v1 with a guardian in wvw on one of the bridges in the south end of he borderlands. He was really tanky and we were both struggling to kill each other. Thr fight went on and on and got to the point where we were both at 0 health. Suddenly the guardians servers zerg appears and starts running towards us, things arnt looking great so I decide to run annoyed that I couldnt kill the guardian after so long fighting him, but, just as I start to run away a lootbag appears at my feet… Thinkig he had won, the guardian had hopped down from the bridge to kill me, and promptly died from the 10 fall damage.

This update has been a huge success. ANET really did a good job appeal img to both casual players and hardcore alike. But do you know who they didnt appeal to? The complainers. Thus when an opportunity to complain arose, a huge tide of people rushed to vent their real world frustration. Very soon everyone will realise that the pick is useless anyway.

I stared reading this post outraged. And then I stopped be outraged and started being smart. The amount of Watchwork Sprockets you will get from this pick will be tiny compared with just buying gems to gold and then TP. There is nothing wrong with this pick at all. It’s a cosmetic skin, with COSMETIC loot. No one will buy this skin and make money from it. They will buy the skin for the looks, and the way its passive fits its theme.

tl;dr. the pick will LOSE you money, making it pay to LOSE.

Perhaps you should have continued to read, as you missed the point entirely.

The issue is the precedent. What is to say a new pick doesn’t come out in a month which gives a 40% chance at sprockets? Then in a year every hit.

The issue is TRUST and customer satisfaction. Right now I have no reason to believe any purchase I make will not get trumped and therefor have no reason to buy from the shop.

Yes, technological progress sucks. We should stop getting new things because they might be better than old things and that will make old people mad that their old things aren’t new things with new things added to them.

You would have a point if technology limited these items. Instead it’s artificial limitation, or lack of foresight on a net’s marketing team. These are not washing machines.

if you honestly have that little faith in the devs. Then go find another game. Every “slippery slope” argument operates of the idea that the devs are permanently looking for ways to cheat us. Anyone who genuinely believes that this is their goal should go find a different game.

Zerker nerfed, allow us to swap asc gear

Zerker = high risk and high reward (timewise)
Defensive stuff = low risk and low reward (timewise)

Working as intended.

The problem with it is that Zerker doesn’t really offer high risk atm in GW2. Everything is able to be dodged, blocked, or reflected. If they actually had instances where you couldn’t avoid taking at least a few auto attacks I would agree.

For most pugs it seems to be high enough risk to scare them away from using it. I wished most people used zerker gear…. Its just not the case.

This proves the point everyones try to make. This should not be how it is, zerker should not be the ONLY build, hence why it needs changing in some way.

I just thought of an idea that I feel would immediately stop the zerker meta without having to nerf or buff anything. The solution is, remove respawn from dungeons and fractals. If you wipe, you’re dead, exit instance. This will make teams that focus on surviving much more viable, while speed clears will still be possible, however this time doing a speed clear will require more thought and skill than currently.

Ascended gear is NOT stat progression, the stat change is neglidgable. It exists to give the ILLUSION of stat progression. ANET had a dilemma, on 1 hand they had promised a non grindy game, on the other hand a large portion of their playerbase WANTED a long term grind for gear. What they did was actually very clever, they added a new tier of gear to satisfy the demand, but made the improvement so minimal that unless 2 identical classes using identical builds dodging identical attacks fought, it would not be better than ascended.

Tl;dr The only vertical progression on ascended gear is the infusion slots, look at the stats and see for yourself.

I have played LB/GS ranger for about 9 months now and here’s what I feel is the optimal spec. (note that in some situations you may wish to swap bark skin to empathic bond to condo cleanse)

PvP (structured)
Don’t run zerker ranger in structured pvp, zerker stats are lacking the crit damage of PvE so as the gear is separate I recommend a condition build here, with toughness/healingpower/condidamage.

The WvW spec is ideal for group and solo play. You have awesome range and aoe movement denying skills for stop the enemy zerg while grouped, and while solo roaming (what is use it for mostly) you are able to beat any class 1 v 1 and in the worst case scenario will draw and run away. This spec’s mobility makes it nie uncatchable once you decide to run due to your 25% movespeed, 9sec CD lead, and stealth, knock back, aoe immobilise, and aoe chill on weapon swap.

(I put the ascended trinkets into the build because they’re not actually that hard to obtain and in some cases easier to get than exotic)

Good luck and I hope you enjoy the build as much as I have.

Max Level

Alot of people I speak to complain about the lack of end game content. Does anyone else feel that it would’ve been more rewarding if the max level was level 60 instead of 80 (assuming same stats at 60 as 80). It would have made zones like mount maelstrom and fireheart rise much more popular as people would view them as “endgame” rather than leveling content. Same with the dungeons in these zones.

Lots of trait advice, so heres some gear tips, with longbow / axewarhon you want damage, so go full berserker trinkets. And for armor take either nights or soldiers. Dont get crit damage armor because it is given in lower amounts compared to the other stats. Putting 20 pts in for spotter is good. Also get the 10% damage while endurance is full. I would recommend 20/20 (30% pet crit, and longbow cd)/30(fall damage, w/e, barkskin)/0/0. For pets have at least 1cat/bird primary and a tanky 2nd pet. (I prefer drakes but if you really like your bear then use him). signet of stone is really good along with signet of the hunt. 3rd should vary deprnding on where you are: Muddy terrain for pvp, quickening zephyr for solo, and search and rescue for dungeons and group events.

Hmm, im no longer sure what damage type you are, the shortbow isnt very good for power and crits and is normally used as a condition weapon. If you are a power build then try using a longbow instead and if if you can free up the trait points, then put 10 into marksmanship for 10% damage while endurance is full. In the end of course it comes down to how you feel works, so dont hesitate to keep altering it as you play, trait resets are dirt cheap. Just be careful about splitting your stats too much its difficult to be power/crit AND condition damage AND tanky.

Beastmastery II may a bad idea as you can get far more out of 2 pets rotating than 1 pet with a small stat boost. Natural healing is also very weak, the self heal is neglidgable and the pet regen would be higher from the health gain of crit in skirmishing. You may want to consider dropping ALL the beast mastery points and putting them into a line that gives you better base stats to increase your damage or tank.

This sounds very similar to the build im currently running, so id recommend, pow/vit/tough armor berserk trinkets. 10pts marksmanship for 10% damage at full endurance. 20 in skirmishing, pet crit damage, bow 20%cd. 30pts wildernes survival, fall damage, sword cd, bark skin. And the remaining 10 where ever want. If youre might stack your pet id recommend chosing a pet with good conditions as well as damage such as the lynx. If you do chose lynx then put remaining 10 points into marksmanship to get 50% pet coni duration.

Rangers have the strongest water combat in the game, don’t hesitate to enter water if a fight isn’t going your way. Also, when downed in water, you’re “lick wounds” skill will often heal you faster than you can be killed by most enemies. (It’s a good idea to have at last 1 tanky pet underwater for this purpose)

Name in use already.7294

I’ve been browsing this forum a while now and seen alot of helpful posts so I thought I’d try give something back. Here’s a list of different tricks and build options I’ve learned on my ranger that I’ll share with you.

1. If you have a bird or cat pet (which you should in most builds) always put 10 points into skirmishing to get +30% crit damage. This is a large damage boost for comparatively little investment, and also comes with the minor trait that grants swiftness on weapon swap.

2. If roaming in WvW or in structured PvP, equip wolf as your second pet. When you go down swap to it immediately and it will use its knockdown, interrupting the first stomp attempt. You can stop the second attempt with your daze, and then use the wolfs F2 to stop the third stomp. This will often result in the enemy dying before they can kill you due to damage they will be taking while channeling constantly.

3. Movement speed boosts don’t stack, so if your build has lots of swiftness, don’t take signet of the hunt or the 30% pet speed boost, as they will not do anything.

4. Heal as One is NOT a terrible skill. It has the shortest cool down of all the heals, heals the highest amount instantly. And when cast every time cool down is up, will workout healing MORE than TU would.

5. Mainhand axe is not a condi weapon. The only reason its found in most condi builds is because it is the only other mainhand weapon available. It actually scales very well with power and is a viable alternative to the longbow in short range fights due to its faster attack rate and slow.

6. It is OK to use your heal to save your pet even if you are not low hp.

7. In WvW bird pets are more use than cats due to their 50% swiftness uptime and that they attack in bursts of 2. This allows them to better stick to their targets and not waste time chasing around.

8. Just because you do more damage at melee doesn’t mean you should ignore your ranged weapons, you have the longest range weapon in the game use it. You should try and use your ranged weapon for as long as possible before the targets gets in range of you this way you will began the fight with a massive HP advantage.
(This only applies when solo, In dungeons it is better to just stack in melee)

9. If you are doing dungeons and fractals, take as much utility and group benefits as you can, this will be far more help than a small damage boost to just yourself.

9.5. Always take healing spring for the aoe heal and water field, and a drake to cleave and use blast finishers. (River drake provides great aoe burst with its F2)

10. You don’t need points in nature magic to take spirits, their affects are the same regardless and proc so easily that doubling the proc chance really isn’t needed.

11. If you have points in wilderness survival and took 50% fall damage, switch it out when in areas that don’t have drops and cliffs.

12. Longbow 2, rapid fire continues to track and hit targets after they stealth, if cast right before enemy enters stealth it will keep hitting them and by looking at the arrows you can see where they are.

I hope you found this helpful, feel free to post your own methods and strategies.

CLAM DOWN LADIES SANITY HAS ARRIVED!

The OP is correct that the top players will likely have more valid views on how the game should be balanced however he must also understand that balanced at the top tier is not necessarily balanced at all tiers. He also over estimates Anet need to listen to players, their balance team will work primarily from numbers and graphs, not people opinions, regardless of skill level. There is no need to enforce a system that filters out 90% because if the 90%’s suggestions are stupid, they will be briefly discussed, if at all, and then discarded, where as the higher end players with a deeper understandings opinions will hold more ground and be far more likely to be used.

The top 10% of ideas should be used, not top 10% of players… ANet isnt stupid, (we hope)

P.S. I dont get why so many people were hating on the OP, he makes a good point and all most people did was criticize his attitude rather than the actual point he was making. Just because you dislike someone, doesn’t make them wrong.

Originally you said that the superior version didnt give boon duration in order to avoid having 3 runes with 15% boon duration. Now you’ve added rune of the traveler could you take another look at this rune?

It’s currently hardly used due to its frozen duration stat (All frozen duration runes are) if it was made 15% boon duration it would be on a much more level ground with other runes.

If anyone else thinks there are runes that should be drawn attention to please voice your opinions, because right now there’s alot of runes that are just being swept under the rug and ignored.

Replace bloodlust with something FUN something that makes wvw feel dynamic. It doesnt even have to be worth the effort capping as long as its fun, Hell add a giant quaggen boss spawn upon capture if you want, just remove the stat gain and make something fun.

ps. maybe make the water a little deeper? thwres not much room to swim atm.

Bloodlust addition

in WvW

Posted by: Name in use already.7294

Name in use already.7294

Please get rid of it. The terrain you added is great and I really like the new central map area for roaming and small scale fights. but at the same time, you’ve made roaming ect feel pointless by adding this stat buff into the game. PLease find something else to replace these bloodlust shrines but still make people want to come to the centre.

Ideas:
1. A buff for a single player who if procected while he channeled somewhere, would become super strong, or transform into something interresting. (like a player boss monster, but give it a time limit or some form of weakness to balence it)
2. Something that gives players experiance and world exp and maybe a short buff for a 5 – 15min period afterwards.
3. Neutral capable camps
4. The 5 current capture points will unleash a map wide affect of damage or debuff for a SHORT while after being captured, (like the temple of storms)

These would achieve the same affect of adding stratergy to high lvl wvw without the snowball effect that occurs in uneven matchups. Please add your own thoughts to this list so the ANet can see the many alternatives to their current system.

So I've run into this problem.

.PvP the ranger is actually in quite a good place
.wvw … well there’s 2 kinds roaming where the only class better than ranger is the thief. and zerging where the.rangers water field and longbow (if traited) give put you in a much better spot than most classes
.dungeons I’m not an expert but personally I’ve never once been kicked for “being a ranger”. long story short, don’t believe most of what you read on the forums and keep saying the class you enjoy.

Have the devs considered that rather than making the new ascended armor and weapons in the conventional sense, they make them the same as ag skin, but instead of changing aesthetics, they change the stats of the item they’re applied to, (increase the stats to ascended) 1 size fits all, where instead of the item is “knights” or “rabid” and simply improves the existing one. they could be made using the t7mats. this would solve most of the issues people are complaining about with transmuting.

Id also recommend that the ascended armor and weapons are slightly easier to obtain than the current trinkets, don’t make them have content specific require meants, just materials that are obtained throughput all content or can be purchased, this will prevent people feeling forced into content and cam gradually upgrade to ascended as they play.
