Oddly enough, fights tend to take ages actually.
Ever fought 2v2 battles over a node? They can take quite some time on equally skilled players or go over fast when one “team” is of higher skill-level.
I don’t see any issues when 1v1 duels can take up to 4mins a bigger fight can take as long, especially when people work together.
Also, it doesn’t matter if deathmatch “wont work” you don’t have to build a league around it if it turns out bad, but leaving it out without trying it is rather stupid, to put it nicely.
I think the main reason why they don’t want to implement it is because they don’t want to split up the small PvP community into 2 game modes.
So, basically, the topic should not be called “Normalized Health Pools.”, but
“Just change everything in sPvP because it is definitely not like creating all professions again”
q e r c x v
easy to reach
This.
i bound
4 -> Q
5 -> E
6 -> R
7 -> Y (german keyboard so on english it would be Z)
8 -> X
9 -> C
0 -> 4
Dodge -> V
Steal -> F1 (F1 is bound to a mouse-button)
That allows for my mouse hand not needing to do to much skills and can focus on selecting targets (if there are to many AIs on the field Tab just doesn’t cut it) and circle strafing.
edit: i also moved A & D from turning left & right to strafe left & right.
Weird, Necros and Warriors are not that hard when i play my S/D + SB build (0-30-0-25-15)
Bunker Guardians, Spirit Rangers and good Engineers are harder (not impossible though)
If you know when to steal (so the necro doesn’t dodge) you get a fear from steal when fighting him, which makes it a lot easier.
Though some necros do give me a good fight at times.
Never had issues with Warriors because it is really easy to see when to dodge against them.
edit: whoops just read your last paragraph again, i was talking about sPvP, don’t play WvW at all so ignore me :X
Again I have a huge problem with fixed point losses due to possible exploitation by pve’rs awayfromkeyboarding. their way to rank 10.
That is also a good point… it is kinda hard to find the perfect point-system it seems.
It would not annoy me that much if you would get decent points for accomplishing important tasks too.
I mean, attacking the enemy home-node at match start and sometimes even binding 2-3 people there will net you 0 points while all your teammates that stand at your home-node that is uncontested get points for basically doing nothing.
Fixed points would be nice… though 0 for losing would be a bit to hard, 50% (maybe even 25%) for the losing team seems fair.
Maces (both hands or just mainhand).
For skills that are less damage but more CC oriented.
And a sword off-hand would be nice, though i would not know what skill to pack on them, tbh.
It took some time getting used to, but it displays all information needed in a clear manner so i don’t get the hate.
They even got a 1v1 tournament dueling arena in this past update.
Imagine if for 1 month we had a 1v1 dueling arena while other players could literally watch us fight in a dome.
For those of you who are mind-blown by hearing this, I am not even kidding, there’s literally a 1vAI dueling arena for prizes in the current living world update. It happens in a clear dome where your friends and anyone can literally watch you battle it out. Basically 1v1 with unlimited spectators for PvE.
You know… not like the PvP community has been asking for that for like the past YEAR..
wtf
This is what i thought the moment i entered the arena against the AI the first time…
Would it be that bad of an idea to just add those arenas to the mists for people that challenge each other to duels?
I mean, they even managed to make a queue system for the AI arenas so that people only have to wait till a arena is free.
It’s definitely not a l2p issue, things like instant death cliffs and breaking ground does not belong into a game like this if it wants to be competitive.
Fighting for A or C on Skyhammer is just so ridiculously restrictive, even arguing for that being a l2p issue is just stupid. A good map allows for tactical plays and does not restrict them.
The S/D + S/D build is a build with a huge skillcap (compared to D/P which is easy mode).
You can’t just switch to S/D and think that it will work perfect from the start without practicing it (like a lot) since you rely a lot on evade rather then stealth and those are rather vulnerable (even though you have more evades then most other builds with this).
People often see S/D as mindless “3 spam” but there is a lot more to it then just that.
Also if you play S/D with another set of S/D you have to be more careful about what fights to pick, since escaping won’t be as easy.
Though i think that, if mastered (or at least well practiced) S/D is the best weapon-set at the moment. (D/P is just good because every noob can use it, but the skillcap is reached much sooner than with S/D)
I use Lyssa and basilisk venom for a 45CD full condition removal.
Though after that it really is rather hard to remove them, especially since S/D profits more from withdraw.
Though i considered going for HiS to cure burn, poison and bleeds at least.

Odd, i never actually read the guide but my build has extreme similarities.
I go for 0-30-0-25-15 and use a SB with Endurance on swap.
Everything else is about the same.
To play sPvP you actually don’t need to farm any gear, you have all gear available from the start.
You can buy all the Exotic gear for WvW or PvE in the trading post. What gear is good depends on your build so you probably should ask in the ele-forum about that.
Since i don’t play ele, i can’t help you there, maybe someone else with some ele experience will answer here, but you may be better of on the ele-forum.
