Thanks for the heads-up. I’ll give it a shot.
I’ve been trying to download the update since it first went live. My Mac client looks like it’s trying to download a client patch, and then just sits there pinging the server every 30 seconds. It doesn’t even come up with a login window. Many people appear to have successfully downloaded and installed the update, so I am curious if there is an issue with my client trying to update itself before it downloads the new content.
It’s been doing this for 4 hours now. Surely it should have done something already.
THANK YOU ArenaNET! I for one appreciate the fact you try to make things easier on the players and give us tools and items to accomplish that. You didn’t have to do any of the stuff you did in this update, but it shows you care about your players. Please forgive all the ungrateful people complaining about stuff in this update. They will come around eventually.
In a new patch we are getting reward of 2 golds for a daily achievements, it is too much in my opinion, with 2golds per day, just from achievements, its like 730g / year. With that big income of thousand players it could harm gw2 economy really hard.
What do you feel about that ?
I feel if it is something Anet wants to do, then they should do it and people should quit finding reasons to complain about Anet giving stuff away. Seriously. The company tries to do something nice for people and all they get is grief from people like you. You actually think they didn’t consider the ramifications of how it would affect the economy before they put this into place?
At least you can get on the game. I’m still waiting for my client to download the client patch so it can download the update. The client just sits there and pings the server every 30 seconds.
Well I tried your suggestion and it works to keep it from going nuts. The game still mucks with the second display until I make the game go full screen and then back to windowed mode. After that everything is happy. It stays that way until I run the client again.
At least this is a work-around, if not a bit clunky. Hopefully they can figure out what is causing the problem soon.
Well I never have a problem unless I’m running the game. And eventually after blinking on and off for several minutes, it finally settles down and everything is fine. I just get lag-killed every time the screen resolution decides to change.
I noticed when this is happening there’s something called DMProxy that keeps trying to run, even multiple times. I’m wondering if maybe the DMProxy.dll file isn’t compatible with some of the changes they made in the game. Might be freaking out while it is downloading content.
I’m using an iMac 27" with the Apple 27" LED Cinema display. Uses the mini display port.
It has a Core i7 (2.93 Ghz) with an ATI Radeon HD 5750 (1 GB GDDR5), 16 GB RAM.
No HDMI at all.
I don’t think it’s a graphic card problem. Like I said the only time it screws up is when I’m running the game itself.
I just noticed that when it happens something called DMProxy keeps running multiple times. Haven’t been able to find much info on what this is supposed to do, but it only shows up when the game keeps blinking the displays.
I’ve been having something similar. I think it has something to do with the windows refresh and windows focus. My problem is a bit more pronounced because it keeps making my second screen turn on and off. It sounds like the exact same thing that has been described in this thread. I’m suspecting it may actually be an update that Microsoft pushed out in one of their services that may be conflicting with the game.
I’ve got a 250 watt power supply in the second display. The first one has a 212 watt supply. I don’t think it’s a power issue, because as I’ve said I changed the second one last week.
I only have had problems since the recent updates. Once all the screen refresh stuff is done, it finally settles down and I can use the second display as normal.
I’ve also tried repairing the clients on both Mac OS X and Windows 7.

Maybe it has something to do with the screen refresh?
Okay I have tried this with BOTH the Mac client and on Windows 7 and I’m having the same issue with both. It is ONLY when I’m trying to play Guild Wars 2.
I’m using window mode 1920 × 1200
I am only playing the game on one screen, but I use the secondary screen for GW2 wiki, etc.
Whenever I run the client and my toon finally loads in, everything is fine for a couple minutes. Then the game freezes, both displays go black, then everything moves onto the first screen and the game resumes. Then the game freezes again, everything goes black, and the second display comes back. It is acting like the game can’t decide what screen resolution the game is supposed to be running under.
I’m thinking it has something to do with the Windows OS screen handling part of the client. Everything was working okay until the last couple updates from ANet.
I thought perhaps the power supply was defective in my second display, so I replaced it but the issues persists, and it ONLY happens when I run the game.
Okay. I’ve done the meta event several times today, and every time the final fight happens, the Mac client crashes. Once it does, I can’t get back into the map because I get an error saying there was an Internet Connection problem, even though I’m logged back into the game.
I’m getting tired of fighting that stupid Mouth of Mordremoth only to be denied the rewards after. I can’t complete any of the Specialization collections because I can never get to the vendor to buy the items needed.
ArenaNet, please please PLEASE get this fixed. The Mac client shouldn’t have to take a backseat to everything else, because you DO have a lot of players using it.
The game unplayable in its current state. If Raid implemntation caused this remove it. As more people bail because of the continual crashes any new customers that may have arrived due to HOT or other promotions will be lost. People will find other things to do and not come back.
The crasking did not start with HOT release it started with implementaion of the last patches and RAIds.
Yep. It was the same thing during the last BWE. Raids and the Squad revamp broke it.
I love how they merge our posts, yet nothing gets fixed!
To all of your saying get 64bit client, it doesn’t work for everyone, especially not me. It lags and runs like sh*t! Also, getting that client doesn’t solve the problem of the 32 bit client… why should we have to download something else to make the dam game work? They need to stop adding new content and fix all of these problems, it’s just ridiculous. I came back to this game for HoT, I’d been away from it for about 4/5 months, only for this to happen after a few weeks of owning the new expansion >.>
Also there is no 64-bit client for the Mac. It doesn’t sound like there ever will be one either, from previous dev posts.
Mac client crashes every 10-15 minutes since raid update. Same issue that I had during the last BWE. Game has become frustrating trying to work on legendaries that require boss defeat; never get credit for events due to crashing.
Oh gawd I didn’t even notice that. Guess I better check that out. Really does need to be account bound.
Yeah you have to have the chest active as your mini pet to get any of the NPCs to talk to you about it.
The crashing doesn’t appear to have anything to do with 32 or 64 bit clients. Switching clients has helped some people, but it also has done nothing for others. Considering a lot of people suffer graphical glitches before they crash, I suspect the problem lies in GW2’s usage of the video card’s VRAM (and it seems like a lot of people who suffer this issue are using GeForce GTX 900 series cards).
I agree with this assessment. It is all graphics related. I was crashing constantly until I put the graphics on the “Best Performance” setting, and even then I still have crashing issues, just not as often. I’m on Mac, so I do not think it is an OS based issue. I have an ATI Radeon HD 5750.
Clean your keyboard. You have gunk in your W key shorting the contacts.
Yes add me to this list. Every time there is a game update, the Mac client gets worse. It is crashing every 10-15 minutes. It doesn’t matter what is going on in the game.
Anet, please do something to get this fixed.
Where can I get the music from the “Heart of Thorns” expansion?? The music is brilliant and I would like to listen to it on the rare times I’m not in the game.
So far, I think Heart of Thorns is about as perfect as you can get, especially right at launch. The challenges completing the events and maps are engaging and require a bit of thought. The story hits right in the heart with its emotional taunting. I think ArenaNet has hit this one out of the ballpark.
There are a lot of people complaining it’s too hard, or too easy. I think it’s just right.
There are a couple times during jumping puzzles where the glider seems to pop out unexpectedly, causing issues with completing the puzzle. Looking to change the key that activates Glider, I found that there isn’t one. Apparently Glider is directly tied into Jump and there’s no way to separate the two.
Has there been any consideration into making Glider its own thing and allowing players to assign a key to activate it, so it doesn’t get confused with jumping when performing jumping tasks?
Anyone else have any thoughts on this?
TP is working for me right now. Will have to see as time progresses to see how stable it remains.
Some gold sellers probably hacked the server…
A ticket in game? I did it through this site because its the only way i know how to
Game Menu / Support / Report A Bug
But they dont reward you with gold or any compensation do they? They dont even contact you..
I have never heard back from a developer or customer service rep from turning in any tickets at either place. The only responses I see are either here in the forums or on Twitter/Facebook.

Error: The game client is unable to gain access to the log-in server at this time. This is most commonly caused by firewall or router settings, security settings, or connecting through campus network. For additional support, please visit http://support.guildwars2.com (Code=42:0:9001:4419:101)
The error is in error. None of my network settings have changed and I’m not on a campus. Sending people to that address just brings people to this post if they search for the error code.
I’m thinking someone screwed up a network setting on the server side.

It has something to do with the way Cider translates the graphics. My iMac crashes all the time unless I use the lowest graphics setting, especially during world boss events when there are tons of people and particle effects going on. Using the lowest graphics setting solves the problem, but then you don’t get to see all the cool stuff that they’ve done for GW2. I really wish they would fix this issue.
They fixed the UI so you could enter the Raid instance. As it was loading, the server lost connection. Now I can log into the game, but I cannot get into any character, beta or real world, because the server keeps disconnecting.
Update: Looks like it got fixed.
Update2: Aaaaand.. DC hell again.

Yeah I tried Google but not much came up. The only thing I could find was the stacks would disappear when the weapons were swapped. That got fixed. I also tried the forum search here, but it came up with absolutely nothing.. Hence my post.
I recently acquired the focus called “Gaze”. It has a Superior Sigil of Demon Summoning. http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Superior_Sigil_of_Demon_Summoning
My issue is that I can get 24 stacks, but when it comes to the last one, it refuses to stack therefore the Fleshreaver is never summoned. I love the focus because it’s perfect for my necromancer, but it’s kinda lame being an exotic focus if it can’t do what it is supposed to.
I had another player use the same sigil in a different weapon to see if it was a single incident, or perhaps the particular weapon. He reported that he too was having the same problem.
Has anyone else had issues with this? I turned in a bug report in-game but thought I would also post here to see how wide-spread this seems to be.
I’m not using a Retina iMac, but I’m using a Core i7 iMac and it crashes on my system as well. Usually it’s fine until I’m fighting world bosses where there is a huge zerg. Karka Queen is the worst. They should make this client 64-bit
I’ve actually received the achievement several times, but it isn’t giving me credit for the entire Festival achievement. I’m stuck at 9/11 events completed even though several events have completed and keep cycling. Case in point Bell Choir, Snowball Mayhem, and Toypocalypse. I’ve lost count how many times I’ve completed these but they aren’t giving credit towards finishing the “A Very Merry Wintersday” Festival achievement. Frustrating.
Yes I’m having the same issue. Always something to do with .pbits or whatever. It says it sends a report to ArenaNet, but this has been going on for the last couple months now. Getting to the point where I don’t want to play WvW because I keep crashing.

My party had a problem with Path 3, when fighting Giganticus Lupicus where he would spontaneously reset even though he was still attacking people and people were still attacking him. I don’t mind it being a hard fight, but it shouldn’t be a “no-win” scenario.
According to here:
https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/NPC_rank
“rare” means Legendary. Not Epic as a Dragon would be (also according to the wiki).
Joe, this staff does NOT look like a scythe made out of the gargoyle’s wing. If you look carefully at the picture, the gargoyle has BOTH wings:
https://dviw3bl0enbyw.cloudfront.net/uploads/forum_attachment/file/15005/gw005.jpg
It’s just the bad angle that it sits at when it’s on the back of the toon. So it’s a gargoyle perched on top of the staff. Since it’s a full-blown gargoyle, Ascalon or SoD would seem the most likely place, IMO.
Yes make sure you smash EVERYTHING, that includes ALL the trees. I was in there last night with my guild and we DID get this achievement, but not until we found one tiny pine tree we missed.
Well I think it’s bugged. I can be standing right on top of people needing revived and its hit or miss as to when it decides to work. According to the description it is a ranged effect up to 900, and the red bar under the skill does go away to indicate when you are close enough. Even if the effect is centered on me, it should be able to revive at distance., even half of 900.
To second the Elementalist info: I too am an Elementalist and when I look at the Superior Rune of the Elementalist, it shows all 6 buffs active. When I equipped a piece of armor with this Rune, it shows me as having 7/6 (in red) active runes even though there is only 1 rune. It does not add anything to any of my stats. Even equipping multiple runes, there is no difference.
