Well yeah you cannot out condi a reaper as engi. Only rev can do that! Converted chill = resistance so if you take Elixir C against them you can usually put up a fight. If you are not condi.

The FT/Firearms thing was meh. I had a nice burst but am completely screwed when I get condi bombed… At least with Elixir B I could still manage to run away most of the time. EE change works well, but it is very hard to get to 25 might without MM or Juggernaut. I may stick with MM since I gave up Flamethrower.

The superior sigil raises that chance to 78%. I was also thinking of Replacing Tools with Firearms and Elixir B with Flamethrower. You generate too much might with Juggernaut, HGH, and Mass Momentum all together. Only 2 of these 3 is needed to get to 25 might so i could take off Mass Momentum for Expert Examination for more damage through vulnerability, or take off HGH for Iron Blooded for up to 16% less direct damage. I personally like the extra damage from switching MM for EE.

I have not had a chance to equip the sigil but I would hope there would be some kind of interaction with the UI like intelligence. If not I would still want it as I would only have to worry about it 22% of the time and I am getting used to counting the seconds since my burst counts on it with hydromancy sigil. I am sure the price will drop just as the price has dropped for Agility

Good sd build Nubu. I personally like a build that has a bit less sustain and more damage. Something like that is probably better for solo roaming and in 1v1 you would have the upper hand, but I am building to be the guy that runs in outnumbered, does a ton of damage to as many targets as he can, and then gets away in a party of 5 with other skilled players. I would hope to have a druid or a tempest in party giving me sustain so that I don’t need to pick up traits that just regen me and enough toughness so that I don’t die before they get a chance to do so. I like the boon duration because not only can I stack to 25 might rather quickly (6 seconds after I used my thunderclap I had 25 might in the video.), I also get tons of fury (which I absolutely need at my base crit chance), and high uptime on defensive boons like protection and vigor. Relying on these boons, I can afford to put stats in places I otherwise would not be able to.

+33% boon duration for 7 seconds on a 9 second cooldown?! Wow I had never even heard of that sigil! Expensive as hell though so must be new. With that I may be able to remove some other boon duration things (HGH, runes, or food) and go for more damage! This may be what lets me go for Iron Blooded so I will test this out as soon as I can.

I tried roaming without slick shoes and it was very fun in some situations. I tried ram, rifle turret, rocket boots, tool kit, elixir U, the bulwark and purge gyros (if I see a condi mesmer/engi/necro that thinks they are the best player in the game [you know those condi tank mesmers that just sit out in the open because they know no one can kill them?] just get out of combat and put on purge gyro and I can hunt them down! Since they no longer do damage! The cooldown is 20 seconds but I can last that long with the condi removals I already have.), and even switched out Tools for Explosives to try nades (hitting glass players with Thunderclap + Grenade Barrage from stealth for over 10k was hilarious). I missed the superspeed from ss that allowed me to kite around a dozen players and completely outrun the slow ones. Rocket boots gave me the mobility back, but it didn’t give me the chance to lock down multiple opponents that were chasing me or that I was engaging on so even new players could just double dodge roll out of my bomb. I might stick to ss for now.

Kinetic Battery was fun! I was not used to looking for it so sometimes I completely wasted it but that is just a l2p matter. Having an extra med gyro water field to leap through or super speed when running has saved my life a few times. Gadgeteer is still good for its help with reactive lenses and ss, but I am sure now there are other viable options even if I end up not using any gadgets.

The healing gyro is a very good choice from the healing turret for this playstyle. Having an instant heal is great when you are outnumbered and can get chain cc’d easily. When ppl are chasing you and the gyro is too slow to keep up it is usually floating around where you just were a.k.a. where your pursuer likely is. It crits most ppl for 2.3k to 3k damage and can interrupt them with it’s daze. As a roamer I am always outnumbered and have to constantly be on the run, so the moving water field makes sure you can get off all the finishers you can without worry of leaping out of it. It also gives me almost permanent protection uptime with my boon duration.

Thanks for the ideas guys! Let me know if you have any more! Especially if there are any other skills that could still let me get in, effectively bomb, and then gtfo!

Oh I like some of those ideas Nano! I really like the med gyro since it is instant cast with moving water field and can blow up on ppl for up to 3k damage. I was using it before but I kept running into fights where I wished I had a little more cleanse and so went back to the good ol’ healing turret. I know now to just run away so I will most likely go back the the medic gyro.

I was thinking of trading out ss for grenades, but if I pick up sd I can still burst one guy without having to worry about my condis that do no damage getting thrown back at me by necros and I won’t have to switch out Tools for Explosives. I am not sure if I should get ram or rifle turret. Ram has cc and a good cripple for catching ppl but I worry about knocking ppl away from me when I am trying to get into melee. rifle turret has the higher dps and gives lots of vigor with its low cooldown but not much utility when compared to ram.

I do see Kinetic battery as not as bad as I used to now that I rely on evades for stab anyway so I will try that out for sure.

I think I have a good amount of boon duration. Any more and it would cut into my crit damage which is nice and high just the way I like it!

I am not sure if I can get to 25-ish might without HGH but I will test and if I can then yes Iron Blooded would make me overpowered! If I can give up a little crit damage to be able to stack that might so that I do not need HGH, that would be a fair trade.

I must say I hit like a truck with all the might stacking. Also decent survivability with invuls, regens, and sneak gyro. I don’t find condis to be too big of a problem as long as you time well your elixirs, evades, and blocks while giving them constant damage pressure.

After looking at this, maybe tool kit over the other two? I was going to go ram but toolkit has high utility too. Won’t have to worry about knocking targets out of my damage like with ram and stealth gyro pull is ridiculous too with the burst you could do.

Hey thanks for the comments guys!

I will have to try out that build or at least take a part of it to make up for the lack of vulnerability GreenRipper! I have some trouble with condis but am usually able to super speed out of danger when I meet those condi tanks. I just do not fight them alone. I used to go full condi reduction, but I felt like even with 60% dmg reduction I just make the fight longer and don’t actually increase my chance of killing them. Maybe the vuln helps in those situations. I may have a bit too much toughness though I agree. Might switch some cav for valk.

As for vid I am not perfect and will admit that when stunned and immobilzed inside necro wells while trying to harvest my vegetables in the middle of an outnumbered fight I may have been able to make a better decision or two. I knew my teammates were “pro” or else we would have never succeeded at taking the tower. (They rez me and we take it if you did not read the video description)

As I said in OP energy may be too much and I could definitely change it out.

Those runes are pretty good. Lots of ppl in ESL pro leagues were using them yesterday if you watched. The food is just a buff to the runes, and together give me almost 2 seconds of resistance. This has saved me many times from a necro fear bomb or other condi bomb where I would not have been able to pull of my heal or gain distance because of fear/chill. This rune is offensive and defensive with strength rune lvl might stacking when combined with the food while giving stat bonuses similar to melandru. There may be better food. The synergy with the runes is why I take it.

By meta I assume you mean the celestial scrapper pvp build Dimes? This build’s crits are much better. I made this build because I do not like playing condi and when I was celestial and stacked might I was doing more condi damage than power and did not like the playstyle. I also have not been benefitting much from healing power if I do not have high toughness because there are so many bursty builds right now you cannot outheal the damage 1 good bursty player is capable of putting out without going completely defensive as celestial Scrapper unless you use bulwark gyro or something. It may be less effective in PvE or on paper, but I am getting better results and having more fun without condition damage and healing power. In PvP, what that build was made for, I use the meta build because the level of burst is toned down in there so no problem with sustain.

If anyone has any other ideas let me know!

I have made a Scrapper build for small scale roaming and havoc in larger wvw fights. I have been playing engineer for a while and have a good idea what I am trying to do but I do like getting feedback and advice.

Strengths:
Over 3000 Power through might stacking
30% Crit Chance; 50% with fury (Over 51%, precision starts to lose its effectiveness as a stat)
226% Crit Damage
3000 Armor
65%-85% Boon Duration
Permanent Swiftness
Very high uptime on fury, vigor, might, retaliation, and stability
Moderate uptime on protection and regeneration
High AoE burst and mobility
Evades, blocks, reflects and invulnerability
Great at reviving downed allies

Weaknesses:
Extremely high condition pressure (Necromancers or Engineers)
Other than stability, might, and water fields not very supportive
Very little vulnerability
Still in the midst of finding the other weak points

Things Worth Mentioning:
Runes of Durability actually give 25% boon duration even though it only mentions 20% so boon durations are a little higher than you think. (ie. Elixir B gives 19 1/4 seconds of fury, retal, etc. in game even though it says 18 seconds.)

I took Invigorating Speed because I already get protection from runes and heal thanks to Recovery Matrix. The days when Protection Injection was our only reliable source of protection are over!

I would probably switch out Energy sigil for Agility Sigil. My boon duration makes it give me 1 3/4 seconds of quickness and it can proc Invigorating Speed reliably.

Just as HGH can reduce the cooldown of the Self-Regulating Defenses trait, Gadgeteer can reduce the cooldown of the Reactive Lenses trait to 30 seconds while giving you 5 more might.

Streamlined Kits trait’s interaction with the Elixir gun is very good for locking multiple ppl down and running away and is the build’s only source of immobilize without a rifle.

Adrenal Implant is not worth taking since vigor and the trait do not stack. You are forced to use vigor by the 1st Tools minor so taking this always means you are wasting something you are giving to yourself.

You need 2 gold and 100 crystalline ore for 1 of them. after you get 40 from the story you can only get a couple every time you go to Dragon Stand so yeah… Ridiculously expensive but since they have them in PvP I hope they lower the cost soon.

They are weird. I usually keep my right hand on the numpad and do not turn much with the mouse in combat. Most of my skills are on numpad buttons which is why a lot of them don’t show what they are binded to. It works so I never got out of the habit…

I do not have all of the gear yet, but here is a video of what it can do with lots of random exotic gear thrown together to give it a celestial gear feel. It lacks stats in some areas but it gets the job done through all the fields and finishers available. It is very good in small groups because of all the combos.

And to those that managed to keep us out of the tower late last night (A few abyss and others sorry I don’t remember all the tags). Our main goal was testing out some new builds in fights (which is why we never brought Siegerazer), but when we saw you run in the tower we kinda broke in just to fight you… We didn’t take all the precautions we should have and got wiped inside by a few people that wanted it more than we did. Well, when it comes to conditions necros are king right now, but they are lacking in every other corner compared to other classes. I think Death Shroud is suppose to make up for that. and that is why condi necros suck at generating LF.

Everyone is doing condi bc condis are easy to use and give great results right now, but I do very well with power. Either one is good. I wouldnt go hybrid though. They are usually squishy. As a necro if you want mobility you need to give up some utility slots for it.

As far as I can remember, life steal food is not good for necros that go into DS very often. You cannot gain or lose health. You also do not need two sigils of bloodlust. You should swap those out once you hit 25 and put something else in the build. I won’t really say more than that about this because the other things are more of a personal preference I have and not really universally good advice.

I would think that was on their list of things to fix, but yeah it should not show LF or show it in a way that doesn’t make everyone think you are dying. They changed the look for DS so you can see your own health too so this shouldn’t be too hard to fix.

Probably still the last one on the list. 3.2k attack, 2.6k armor 94%, crit chance in Death Shroud, 100% crit Damage. Flesh wurm and spec walk help you kite if you run out of LF. And they are also good for Necro blink rofl stomping ppl.

its just few more stacks of bleed just different name nothing special about it

I think the tool tip is still incorrect. It ticks twice as fast when the target is moving, the ticks do not increase in damage, though. I think last time I checked torment does 150% bleeding’s dmg to a moving target. So each stack of it is like 1.5 extra bleeds.

I agree. I’ve been saying that the it’s impossible for the Shoutcasters to say anything of substance about the flow of combat in this game because there is so much passive proc nonsense going on, so many untelegraphed moves that deal way too much damage for being next to impossible to dodge… It’s actually quite embarrassing.

I liked it. Not bc of the Shoutcasters, but it would be kind of strange w/o them. That is kind of a problem with shoutcasting in general. How is the guy watching supposed to say anything of substance while watching any sport? Things will always be moving too fast and be too chaotic.

Yes burning should be only on warriors,eles and guardians since they have poor acces to conditions, then nerf it.

but then i have to raise a question how a warrior would be producing fire (exlcuding a fire weapon itself) , they are masters of martial prowess , not magic……give warriors heavier bleed abilities if anything. Theyre not master enchanters (we saw this with Dervishes back in Elona , still would LOVE to see this clas brought back btw)

All fire doesn’t have to be magical. Same as engi with it’s explosions.

Most of these are tips against condition/hybrid necros. What would work against a power necro? They have more ways to get Life force than condition builds do so they can be tanky with the new patch even if they are glass…

Make it do the same damage as poison and put revealed on the target for the duration of the burn.

It does make since that a guy wouldn’t be able to go invis if he was on fire(generating light from his body stops him from blending into the shadows). Most condis have more than 1 effect anyway. Just change burning dmg or duration and make it prevent stealth instead of reducing healing. Hide in Shadows should still stealth though. Just bc it removes burning.

Things to note:

3.2k Attack
2.6k Armor (Not much, but with boons from runes and Death Shroud, it is plenty)
94% Crit Chance in DS
100% Crit Damage
40% Condi Duration for Fear/Chill. Can put 25 stacks of vulnerability on a single target

Used to use spec walk instead of shadow fiend, but it is not good for running or building life force anymore so what is the point. The new Spectral Grasp is good if you don’t like the fiend.

The buffed shadow fiend gives you 11% LF with it’s active skill and you get 11 more when it dies from AoE/whatever. It is also ok for blinding the enemy since you can cast it’s active as you stomp someone.

No other traits are wasted on minions. They are extra targets and a slight boost in dps, but I WANT my enemies to kill the golem and the fiend. Not the wurm. The wurm you hide for the stun breaker.

AoE boon/condition removal. Good for group fights.

Works in PvP. (Valkyrie amulet w/ berserker jewel)

Can tank while in DS.

Warriors aren’t countered with this build so you will just have to l2p against them. That is true for any good player of any class as well. But the tips below might help new necros.

Signet of rage / Spinal Shivers = 7s of chill trololol

Guards have too many ways to get boons, but those skills also have a long cd. Scare them into using them early then remove/wait out stability, Golem charge, stack vulnerability with focus 4, axe 2, DS for Life Blast spam. GG. Boon removal really cuts through their ability to tank.

Condi classes like Necros/Engis/ can only condition burst you a few times and your elite and heal basically counter two of those bursts. Then you use the well for free boons and just crit the kitten out of them while they are on cds. Bleed thieves are just free vigor if well of power is off cd…

Elementalist do not have as many boons as guards so you can just strip them all and murder their faces if they don’t run away from you/once they pop all their fancy invulnerable skills.

Other Necro’s are usually condition so if you are both in DS they almost always fall out of it b4 you do since you have more raw dmg.

A tanky phantasm mes beats almost anything 1v1 really, but if they are not tanky or running away you will melt them b4 they can burst through DS. Axe 3 in the clones for 10+ seconds of retal, Focus 4 might bounce to the real one even if you aim at a clone. Axe 2 on the mesmer or a phantasm gives you Life force either way. DS 5+4 will kill all clones. If he doesn’t have any invis left spam LB. Save Doom for stopping mass invis/his heal. GG.

Rangers…. idk enough about them honestly… They have changed alot. Another l2p against class, at least for me.

Thieves are honestly a pain, you have to surprise them with high damage before they think they need to disengage. They will think you are condition based so save your real damage till they are at half. No matter who they are, opening with the golem charge and then using focus 4, axe 2, and then going into Death shroud puts them in a horrible position. Save doom for interrupting Hide in Shadows. Two Life Blasts while they are feared from their heal usually kills a thief, but it is all about timing. Did he blow his stun breakers yet? DS 5+4 does great damage to anything around you whether you can see it or not. Wurm has lower cd than basilisk venom so it isn’t usually a problem in 1v1, though I think that them being able to steal and get Fear Me! which is a slot skill for Warriors but with almost half the cd is stupid.

A lot of people like the Condition FOTM builds and hey more power to them, but power is FAR more entertaining, so even if it is seen as not as useful as the meta I like big numbers, not lots of little ones. I think right now necros are one of if not the hardest class to play. No “Time out for 3s” or cheap “Get out of jail free cards” and honestly even with all the info above, whether you win or not is going to depend on your opponent. You can only capitalize on the mistakes of your opponents. Mistakes in their gameplay and mistakes in their build. But that is what high level PvP SHOULD be like!

As long as you are not outnumbered and play smart you have the LF regen and toughness to take on anyone. You just can’t get away. You have to kill everything that refuses to run away from you. But that is more a problem with Necros in general and not just my build.

I think there should be no projectile you should just tp to your target or 1200 range in the direction of your target instantly and it applies the AoE chill and bleeds on the other side. That or the projectile speed needs a big buff.

The trait should just be replaced. Necros burning people was weird anyway. With where the trait is its almost like they are forcing you to be a hybrid build too.

The only thing I really dont like on my necro is the long cd on wells. the 50s cd wells need to be kitten . Or at least make ritual mastery an adept trait. It does nothing but lower the cd of a few very situational skills so that trait should be buffed(idk how) if it is going to stay as a master trait. Then i wouldn’t mind the 50s cd so much.

After pvping a bit as a power necro, I use axe/focus, dagger/warhorn with spec walk, flesh wurm, and well of power. Bleeds = vigor so you can get it but you have to go out of your way for it just like mesmers have to for condition removal. Add lyssa runes with the golem to that. I have enough mobility/tankyness for my team to kill some of the guys focusing me without them taking any damage themselves if I have enough LF. I usually run into 3 dudes on a point ON PURPOSE and can get one down and the other two to 60% health while keeping them busy for a while so they are screwed if i have help otw. I think necros might end up being scape goats to keep multiple opponents busy for a while, but there is nothing wrong with that. I’m not as tanky as a guard, but DS can take ANY burst if you have enough LF and some toughness. Plus I can strip boons, chill, and fear so I am good at making sure the guy the team is focusing has no way out no matter what he is. Unless it is a necro like me and just trolls ppl til they stake him :P

Good times just now at NE tower in SBI BL…You guys just kept coming.

Was there for that one. I was one of the two who built the treb in the camp and the AC off the side of the wall to mess with ya. Great fight, the best of my night. Well fought! Tell the thief from Zzzz that he did a good job giving my friend and I a run for our money! Bravo!

Idk much about condition necros as I run a power build, but if you are just super focused on bleeds and nothing else and they can remove a condi or two every now and then you won’t do much. The condi necros out there now make sure there are all kinds of pretty colors on the bottom right half of your monitor.

Look at the Soul Reaping tree… Vital Persistence, Unyielding Blast, Deathly Perception. Hits like a truck if you spec for it, but if you are just another condition damage based necro it won’t do much for you.
