While I’m surprised by the suggestion that these names might be considered offensive, I think it is inappropriate to approach the issue flippantly. Mental health is an area that is notoriously poorly handled by the public, and it is entirely possible that people in a vulnerable position could be affected by seeing yet another instance of casual negative language.
Of course people are welcome to think “This seems overly sensitive and I’m not convinced we need to tread quite so lightly”, but an outright dismissal of the issue doesn’t seem like a good response.
Thank you. I have no ideas left on how to convince these people how harmful slurs feel to the mentally ill, other than maybe the chinese water torture metaphor, and I rarely bring that one out due to people actually having had to go through that.
If your friend really have this disease he shouldnt play a mmo
but i am still sure you are such trolling and this my friend isnt funny!!!!
On an MMO, no one knows about your history. No one stares at you weirdly. You never have to tell anyone you’re having an episode, you can just say you need to go afk.
It’s supposed to be a comforting place—being like everyone else, for once. But when people incorporate nasty slurs into their game itself, it can cause massive breaks in harmony and community.
How would you feel if someone started calling dye colors in their games things like “Redskin Red”? Not very funny if you’re a native american, as it turns out.
Not sure if serious or trolling.
I am rather serious. Mentally ill people are usually not aware that they are mentally ill.
Honestly that is a very close-minded way of looking at things. One may argue this for very unstable people, but more mild cases are very aware of their situation.
For instance, I have High-functioning Autism. I know this and acknowledge it. Does this make me not mentally ill, for merely acknowledging my disability?
You’ve obviously never been friends with someone with schizophrenia then…
Schizophrenic people usually aren’t aware that they are schizophrenic.
Not sure if serious or trolling.
Trust me, the feeling is mutual.
I’m serious. I have a friend with Schizophrenia who is currently on medication and still receives massive prejudice against them. (Using Gender neutral pronouns to avoid outing them.)
On the other hand, the Lunatic Courtiers are actually insane, so their names should be kept. But dye colors seem a bit excessive.

2015, the year where people kitten about the name of colors in a video game and call colors ableist.
Oh how far have we sunken.
It’s not the colors themselves. It’s the fact that their names contain slurs against neuroatypical people.
I haven’t ever heard anybody with a mental condition referred to by any of those adjectives.
If you truly have friends that are bothered by those words, perhaps they should stop associating themselves with such language.Let’s keep Tumblr on Tumblr please.

Hey, so I have many friends who play guild wars 2 who have been negatively impacted by the language used in the new halloween dyes that are in the API right now. While I assure you that the old content/names probably shouldn’t be changed for continuity’s sake, the colors our characters wear are a bit more personal and I for one would like to see less ableist language used in the halloween dyes.
Personally, I think the dyes should be named after Halloween-themed things, rather than slurs targeted at mental conditions.
Suggestions:
Lunatic Yellow -> Moonbeam Yellow
Psychotic Orange -> Dried Blood Orange
Delirious Purple -> Batwing Blush
Maniac Brown -> Candy Corn
Crushed Bone is fine as is
Insanity Red -> Thorn Royalty Red
Please, if you have more ideas for names, submit them here.
Do I really have to point out rather obvious two facts that are undeniable and real?
1. Charr and Asura already wear Dresses! There are plenty of both that grew up in Lion’s Arch, lore-wise, who do not conform to their traditional society. This can be seen in…
2. Charr and Asura already have gender-dimorphic outfits! Just throw on the Countess Anise outfit—it changes depending if an asura/charr who wears it is male or female.
All I want is gender-dimorphic armor sets. It’s really just a simple extension of what is already present within the game, and a few cultural sets are already dimorphic, so it’s definitely possible within the engine. No one is forcing you to wear anything you don’t want to wear.
The issue is that that if they make Charr and Asura female armor different than the male armor, they’re not going to make a specific “female” set for them, they’re just going to reuse the design they made for the other races. Which means that instead of having a plethora of awesome, useful looking heavy armor for my female Charr I’d be stuck with the small amount of sets which don’t include some ridiculous boob-plate.
I agree wholeheartedly that old content should not be affected! It would cause too many headaches for everyone. I’m talking about introducing a new armor set to the gem store or something that actually gives a different appearance based off of the character’s gender.

Like hell they aren’t. It’s ridiculous how difficult it is to find a pair of pants for a human female.
I don’t care what armor sets they put into the game as long as they don’t go against the lore to do it. But “feminine” sets for Asura and Charr DO go against the lore of the game and consequently should not exist in the game.
Um, I hate to break it to you, but…
While there is some outfits for a good female looks.(daydreamer/wedding) It doesn’t change the fact that Medium and light armors all look the same for charr and asura, Your gender is male. I would like to see more female “Armors” for our charrs and asura’s. outfits we have to pay for, we shouldn’t have to pay to look like a female.
Your clothes are what make you look or feel like a female? Huh.
I understand what you are asking for. I am arguing against it. I don’t want them to affect the lore based on your feeling of wanting your character to be feminine. I like it that these 2 races do not sexualize their clothing.
Then…is your “immersion” is already broken by the daydreamer’s outfit and the feathered armor set? Skimpiness is a choice.
That being said, I feel the need to iterate I do not necessarily want skimpy armor for Charr and Asura—just more feminine. Like I stated in my original post, Female Cabalist as inspiration would be ideal—it doesn’t even show skin on the lower half of the body, and minimal cleavage on the upper half…

OK, so I know that the norm for these races is practicality over fashion, but honestly having no choice in the matter of gender-associated styles my character wears annoys me. I would love the Cabalist leggings on my Female Asura if they were the Female skin, but I’m forced to wear the Male one.
That being said, I’m not proposing a massive, sweeping change be made to the game’s art to satisfy my wants for a skirt with adorable little bloomers underneath. Rather, I would enjoy it if an armor set was introduced to the Gem Store that looked different for Male and Female Charr and Asura. Preferably similar to the female Cabalist leggings on Female Asura and Female Charr. Heck, you could even give the Charr a tail bow. That would be adorable.
Finally, I will state this: Options are good. Just because someone wants something doesn’t mean you are forced to take it and shove it on your character.
Who made this fire?
Good. We an safely rule out Billy Joel.
And his backup singers. Don’t forget about the backup singers.
Agreed, not on the front of Spectral armor being bad or anything, but the skill just needs a bit of a buff to make it worthy of taking as an actual utility and not just a minor trait, y’know? I feel like adding retaliation would help out while keeping the thematics.
You get so many more fire fields, after begging for more might, and now you claim you have been shafted. Wow.
Would someone please elaborate on how getting fire fields when you have burst-finisher banners is a bad thing? Because as a Necromancer I feel honestly shafted both by the language used in the presentation of Berserker (“Why would you apply burning to yourself? That’s stupid.”) and how many fire fields you guys are getting to augment your blast-iful banners.
Just paste the link, bookah. It’ll turn into a link automatically.
Callout threads are illegal in all 50 states.
There are no embedded pictures on this forum, weeb! Now man up and learn imgur link.
Sylvari actually have guns in-lore too—they launch seeds instead of bullets! Presumably the first few sylvari to witness guns went back and developed the Sylvari seed launcher rifles and pistols from native plants.
I’d think that being able to illusion your own fantastic, unrealistic outfits would be a huge draw to the potential members of the profession.
So, yes. For some at least. It’s probably also something to keep up appearances—most mesmers are nobles (Magic-type runs in bloodlines), combine that with the above fact, and presto! Fashionable Human mesmers.
Except we’re not talking about a confirmation email. I, personally, am referring to the fact that I have yet to receive a newsletter proper. It’s all very confusing.
I’m using (firstname).(lastname)@gmail.com and have failed to receive any sort of emails on the subject of HoT. I’m glad I’m not the only one with this issue!!
Character name: Heemi (But! Name change coming soon maybe?)

If anyone on TC is up for necromancer/adventure-based RP, let me know.
1. RP. I want to be able to scrawl down the fact that my character is wearing an altered outfit ICly, but have others be able to see it too! Think MRP from WoW, but you could also put in links to reference sheets, themesongs, if you wanted too…
2. Housing. As I am a very scatterbrained High-functioning Autistic, I don’t know if I’ll be able to have a not-tiny house IRL, or even if I’ll ever be able to move out on my own. Having a house in GW2 would certainly help the pain of not knowing if I’ll ever be able to live on my own.
3. Bleed Stacks. Make them stack infinitely on anything above normal, non-veteran mobs, and I might have a reason to go Condition Damage…
Anyone care to do a part of “Last of the Wilds” by Nightwish? It’s the only song I really want to play on the flute.

All of the pan flute part. Thanks!
Short race is master race. Get on my level.
Whips out bonesaw
Stooper, the necromancer made it for Excell. It was probably a very thoughtful gift, plus Minions are impossible to command if you’re not a necromancer!
Name: Warder Heemi

If you will be recording – Youtube channel: Will check framerate, then get back to you. =) Regardless my Youtube channel is NeverCry4Pain
Meet Heemi, who probably has the best name and looks combo ever.
Aw, that’s adorable Jazz! Well, in a twisted way. I also think pit vipers are cute, so I may not be the best judge… 10/10 Regardless as it fits very well with lore.
My Asura’s name is Heemi. (Female, obvs.)
I have no issues with my debit card yet I am still getting the approval error. Can anyone unstick me?
Got card approval failure for purchasing $20 worth of gems when I have $75 on my Visa Debit card. Can anyone help fix this issue? I’m pretty sure I’m not the only one.
Can’t buy gems, can confirm I have enough money in my bank. Is the TP down?
An easier way is to use a reference picture of a celebrity or family member, then adjust the sliders as necessary. Just look through a few magazines, or ask a cousin who’s facial structure you like if they’ll let you take their picture.
Your mother’s IQ is so low, she thinks grammar is two and a half grams.
In addition, descriptors do nicely, for instance, “Ammi the Sly”.
Good luck on getting a name that you like!!
Cannot buy gems, card has worked in the past but I can no longer purchase more gems, even after re-entering my info. What’s wrong? =(
