An aikeido grandmaster came from japan to our local school and spared with our black belts. Much more junior blackbelts were able to easily defeat the grandmaster who was using nito. Nito is much harder to master over the single katana.

You mean Aikido? If so, why is a grappler using sword techniques? Sorry I am older than dirt this makes no sense to me.

I should probably clarify. I know weapon training is a part of Aikido, but it is hardly a focus, like it would be for say a Kendo or Kenjutsu practitioner.

Properly speaking a Katana should be used with two hands. But I will accept that Belinda’s sword is pretty ridiculous, so probably not a katana. Also, that a katana can be used one handed making it more of a born out of wedlock sword. There isn’t a such thing, though, mechanically, as an offhand sword, it’s just a sword that you can use in your offhand if you have that set, so it’s one or the other, not both. If you don’t then it’s dagger, which is the Tanto.

I’m more of a Rapier, Main-Gauche person myself, but reading your statement would make one think there is not a Japanese equivalent.

The use of Katana, Wakizashi better known as Niten Ichi had it’s beginning in roughly 1604 by Miyamoto Musashi if I recall correctly.

I agree!

Please everyone stop treating thieves as second class citizens. Help them find the boat back to the Leprosarium, so they can play cards with the Necromancers, and Elementalist, while the rest of us enjoy pvp.

Ignore them all Bic, they are worse than a pack of rabid dogs. You know what I see when I watch the video I see someone holding a node against 2, giving his team a 4-3 split over 2 which guarantees 2 if your team has a clue, 3 if any are good. I personally call that a win condition. Your plus 1 was a bit slow to arrive though.

I’d play with you Bic, at least you are not going to afk if you are down, like a large number of people in this thread would more than likely do. The rest of you should be ashamed.

I have seen people blaming the amulets, but truth is that is not the only factor. Saiyan hinted at the problem.

Are people forgetting? That last balance pass there was an almost across the board dmg mitigation nerf. Even though percentages are the same, it hit some classes much harder than others. This in and of itself is an indirect buff to all dmg across the board even traps.

Guardians have a large number of active mitigation, heals and such, so are not feeling it as much especially with some heal buffs that came down. Some other class are feeling it more, since they had next to no options for mitigation, and the only ones they did have, were reduced by 17%(technically more if you read closely, Necro rise for instance isn’t just a 17% nerf it got multiple hits because the minions now have to be attacking and also got health and toughness reduced by 25% each, no minions, no mitigation. LOL! At least they still have spectral armor as an option but really is that enough signs point to no.)

Some may read through and think the changes are small, but they add up quickly. They are truthfully a bit heavy handed. which causes swings like we are now seeing in the current meta.

I will not even mention the poor Ele. What may at first seem like small change, was in fact dropping the entire Nerf factory on that class.

Real balance requires frequent small changes. not make a large number of changes
once a season.

I feel like season 3 was better balanced, but then I don’t have an issue with rock paper scissors balance. Of course If they just want to give us all Instagib rifles, and some capture the flag maps, I am down for that also. Hmmmm, wonder what Wendel is doing now days? I always got a kick out of fragging that youngin.

Well I just witnessed a rev vs necro fight. Necro didn’t drop below 95% hp once. No shroud used. I walk in and drop that necro in about 4s..

Either the rev was throwing the match, or I’m not meant to play PvP

Again: GG anet. +1 for s1 matchmaking.

This makes me wonder isn’t that about 3 seconds longer than it takes to kill a necro now days? The Rev was afk? Hell someone on the opposite side of the map could have farted, and the necro would have died. I’m confused, something doesn’t add up here.

To elaborate: I’ve been playing necro today.

Also they are not as squishy as people seem to think. Perhaps people just can’t adapt builds for toffee ( then again everyone is glued to metabattle so im not surprised).

There is something that doesn’t add up for sure. But you might want to look internally for it.

I have never looked at metabattle, so I would not know. I agree all those pro players playing necro that are constantly in a downed state, would never lead anyone to think they are squishy now. That aside, I consider Necro’s right now free kills, so see ya in game.

S3 had the best balance or MM if you ask me.

I would agree it was not perfect mind you, but this season is bad. Nothing felt Godlike last season when playing it, a few classes felt a little lacking but not to bad. This season however three classes feel too good, while three feel lacking, two just pointless, and one could be deleted.

May sound strange but I do not want to talk about any specific profession. Just curious how others feel, even if they only play one or two of them.

The balance after this last patch is much better imo… DH needs a bit of a nerf but it isn’t as bad as the forums imply.

Have you played all classes or is this from the point of view having played only a few first hand?

I have no real profession bias, like and play them all. Just feels like the balance is way off compared to what it was prior to last balance pass.

Anyone else feel like Balance in pvp was better prior to last BP? Does Anet do any actual testing before they make large sweeping changes?

Necro kitten near requires a pocket Engi to even be viable. I do not want to be harsh, but if you died to a Necro scepter auto attack, or even felt pressured from one, then something is definitely wrong, and it’s not a Necro op issue.

I pretty much see an unsupported Necro as a Free kill. Now if only more people would play Necro…. Kills, kills, kills for everyone! hahahahaha

He actually linked a video of Bic playing druid, as proof of druid being op. I am still laughing. You do know Bic has been playing druid a real long time, and few people can kill him when he plays glass cannon/full zerk.

In that video he is playing a glorified heal bot. Menders amulet, herald runes, and leach on staff.

Heal bot druid OP when played by above average player with team member in same apartment running full damage, news at 11.

Next someone will claim Bic killed them with condi damage, when I have never seen him run condi. He has 0 condi in the vid, although he is using generosity on the greatsword so giving you back your own condi would be possible, if he did not clear them so often with celestial form.

Sigh! The game is full of rock, paper, scissors. Most of the time a ranger is the rock to a reapers scissors, but with heal bot you hear Bic say kill the Necro next. Maybe Bic’s death makes heal bot druid op?

This nerf thread is just absurd as the majority of nerf threads. Nightmare rune op 50 percent chance to 1 sec fear on 60 second coold down to much(sarcasm).

I’m not as aggravated by this as I am the utter lack of exotic breathers in the game. For that matter gear drops in this game are terrible.

If you have already run a repair and tried port forwarding, and still have this issue. Try what fixed it for me… Go into your router settings. Turn off DHCP and switch from NAT to bridged mode. None of Anet’s tech support could fix this problem. and they even said that it is not in their system as a fix, but it worked for me.

I should note if you are using a newer model arris modem/router combo. disable the hardware firewall in it as well. Just to be sure.

It appears as if some of the newer model routers Nat settings and DHCP do not play well with gw2. I’d explain why but it would take a crap load of typing.

Needless to say since I made that change, I have played through all currently available story content, including LS2 and 3 solo on 2 characters without one disco.

Kind of silly having to remove so many nice features, to play a game, but the changes are easily reverted. I only change them when playing, although you could just leave them after making the changes.

Hidden Arcana attempt 36 I can only assume that is right before last cut scene but I will never know since yet again a Disconnect. Meanwhile I can do anything but story lines in this game for days straight and never see a disconnect.

F!!!!!! season three fix the kitten crap SO I can finish the other seasons. If you are not going to fix cut scene disconnects in storylines at least put in some kind of save feature you lazy… I should bite my tongue, but really! I finally managed to finish personal storyline on one character, needless to say I did one particular long episode 84 times to finish it without a disconnect.

I literally never disconnect except in storylines. WTF!!

Still disconnect only when doing story line quests, always at start or end of cut scenes. You would think they would look into the story line disconnects. If this was a connection issue on my side it would happen outside story line quests also, but it doesn’t.

I am not impressed with ArenaNet. My game runs flawless with one exception. Story line! I can play days straight with no disco’s. The instant I try to do any story line the 7 11 disconnects start rolling in, making it impossible to do them. I just want to do the story lines, please fix your bleep Anet… 30-40ms ping 0 packetloss, but can’t do story line quests.
When people ask me why I never stream GW2 I always give them the same response, I challenge you to make me change that response.

There are more threads on this not yet merged into the ongoing 7 11 thread. 2 plus years and many people still have this issue.

If you do find a resolution let me know. I just avoid the story lines even though I really want to repeat them on all characters. Only part of the game I have issues with, If I dc you can bet I was in a storly line cause I never dc otherwise.

I really like the story lines but have given up. Same error.

Funny thing is I can play wvw 8 hours straight without a hiccup, try to do one story line and it’s a crap shoot on how many times it will take to make it through without a disconnect. 30-40ms ping 0 packet loss yet poof progress gone and back to character select.

pvp no problem, wvw no problem, map meta events again no issues. Story line … do not pass go move directly to character select cause you have lost connection.. BS!
