I use this build. Obviously pets are personal preference. Feel free to adjust stat combinations to suit your liking. If you feel you need more healing, add another trinket or armor piece with HP on it. I find toughness is good where its at, so you can survive any mistakes you might make. You can also take another spirit in place of a glyph but I recommend keeping at least frost and nature.
You should consider taking Nature’s Vengeance with Spirit of Nature and one other spirit (not water). I’ve found it to work excellently in team scenarios.
Will old skins go up on the Gem store for sale? I want to buy them Toxic Gloves if they’re not gone forever.
Norn Druid (Melandru servant)
WHAT?! THAT’S AMAZING! I MUST know what armor that is!!!
Great build. Similar to what I run, but I take a LB for zerg fights.
Great video, really awesome stuff. What kind of success have you found with this build? Is the armor and stat combination you’ve chosen versatile enough to use in WvW and well as open world PvE and/or fractals? Have you considered working any healing power into this build or have you at one point attempted to?
Druid PvE LB/Staff Spirit Support Build
This is the Druid build I’ve been using. Uses 3 glyphs and two spirits. Works surprisingly well while being split between healing, damage, and toughness.

I dunno dude, have you taken a walk through Maguuma? Monsters hit like freaking MAC trucks. I see players go down frequently just fighting veterans. I think healing is going to have a place in this expansion if not immediately. Gotta think long-term here.
I’m looking for a good Power Druid build but I’m totally indecisive with my skill and trait choices. Recently I’ve been using LB/Staff with Marks/NM/Druid.
Thoughts?
Seriously. What a colossal failure to change the F2. It should never have been changed from the smoke field. Proper timing and use of F2 are now irrelevant with this pet. Now it is “press f2 for more damage.” CHANGE IT BACK!
I shelled out a HUNDRED FRICKING DOLLARS of my hard earned wages because I was so thrilled with the Druid reveal. Knowing what I know now, I NEVER would have pre-purchased OR paid that much.
This is terrible customer service. This is as bad as EA’s business practices. I’m disgusted.
Seriously though, losing astral force out of combat is the dumbest thing I’ve ever heard of.
Obviously this isn’t intended. Otherwise it would have been clearly stated in the patch notes. I know we’re all a bit paranoid because, “Oh geez, here we go again, Anet hates rangers” but this is obviously some kind of error that will get fixed.
Thematically Berserker Warriors would fit as the arch enemies of the Druid wearing heavy armor as the Romans did but personally, I feel the very antithesis of the Druid is the Reaper Necromancer. Where we Druids create and revitalize life, the Reaper is there to tear it away from its mortality.
They always follow the syntax format of [Name] the [Adjective].
Wolf: Fredrick the Brave
Arctic wolf: Syrus the Astute
Sylvan Hound: Sparky the Verdant
Krytan Hound: Fisk the Unbroken
Red Moa: Hackles the Angry
Owl: Twitchy the Scared
Armored fish: Chichiri the Wise
Shark: Brutus the Hungry
Lynx: Noah the Playful
I’ve already made a full set of clerics armor. Might keep my berserker trinkets though. We’ll see what launch has in store.
Druid Lore? ArenaNet Writers! Please respond?

Aww really? I was certain there was more lore to these especs. There should be. I’d like to see a profession specific quest or story mission to learn more about it.

So for the engineers Espec we learned the War Band kind of outcast certain engineers to scrap yard duty where they innovated new things using the scrap metal they were given.
Beyond the GW1 Lore of, “Some humans went to Maguuma Jungle to get closer to nature and were never seen again” I don’t think I’ve seen any GW2 Druid Lore. There wasn’t any given during Twitchcon presentation was there? Will the Druid Lore be referenced or brought up in the expansion?
Thanks for the tremendous amount of feedback regarding the Druid. I’ll be modifying swaths of the druid (and scrapper) to fix bugs and account for your feedback this week and reviewing things like glyphs effectiveness, celestial avatar skill differentiation, astral force charging rates and some of the staff skills.
In general the Celestial Avatar form’s base heals feel a bit too high and heal coefficients didn’t feel rewarding enough to go with healpower stats. The heals themselves seemed to be working at decent values, so I’ll be tweaking the base heals down and coefficients up some in order to better reward selecting healing power stat combos as a druid.
The animations for staff are getting looked at.
Seriously, this guy though, AMIRITE? How dang good is he? His especs are clearly head and shoulders above the rest.
Yup. You do that to a Wall of Reflection and you’re suddenly at 1/2 hp for such a mistake. Actually, just copy WoR except for the mechanic.
Make it 10 seconds like Wall of Reflection
What if the auto looked more like this?
I like the swirly thing around it. Staff 1 should have a beam like that! 10/10. It’s simple. Not overcomplicated or distracting.
Call it what you want. Call a spade a spade. Doesn’t change anything. It’s still what it is. Bring some constructive criticism to the table instead of making complaints and full on blasting everything that Irenio his team have worked on for what must have been months of late nights and difficulties. Druid isn’t perfect, but adding and fixing a few things will make it a formidable specialization.
Because you’re basically SkiTz and typically every post you make is negative and not constructive and you complain and throw a tantrum like a child until you get what you want. But when you come up with a realistic change that hasn’t been suggested before you are welcome to bring your new found suggestion to the table in a way that doesn’t make you appear so implacable.
Is it not viable or just not what you wanted? Because there’s a difference, and most every tournament level competitor who plays Ranger has been voicing their appreciation for how positive this elite specialization is for the profession.
I believe all classes are balanced around 5v5 PvP. Everything else is just an extension.
“It’s Amazing.” Said Irenio Calmon-Huang, lead developer on the Druid Elite Specialization for the Ranger class, as he was describing a new skill called Sublime Conversion. “It turns something that would be doing damage to you, 100%, into the opposite.” He sat there at TwitchCon, in his chair throne talking with community manager Rubi with an almost smug arrogance to his demeanor. By perception alone, players alone knew that I.C.H. had done something amazing: He had revived a dead and stale class, managing to revitalize it and breathe new life into something long forgotten. Irenio had, in less than an hour, become the Savior of an entire sub-community within Guild Wars 2. For three years since it’s launch, those who played as a Ranger quickly figured out that the class was doomed from the beginning due to a multitude of issues plaguing the class. This was something self-evident simply by observing a lack of any tournament level PvP team to even consider allowing a Ranger into their fold.
Faithful players of the Ranger profession have stewed bitterly with their concerns seeming to fall on deaf ears watching as moderators of the forums continually overpass their devoted section as if it were a dark inner-city street corner too dangerous to venture to. A lack of developer communication even inspired a well known writer for popular MMO site Ten Ton Hammer, Lewis B. to write an article about the issue. This article was reportedly, asked to be taken down by the editor and never spoken of again. Then, at TwitchCon, everything changed. Even Rubi, dared ask Irenio the toughest question of all, asking how he plans to address the Ranger concerns on the forums. A question I personally never would have anticipated would be asked on a live stage. Calmly and without concern, Irenio confidently responded he was working on it. Over the next few days and during the final Beta Weekend before the release of Heart of Thorns, Irenio Calmon-Huang finally broke his vow of silence and made multiple “red posts” on the forums about the fact he was reading our feedback on the Druid and working on addressing problems with the core profession skills. His word was taken as gospel, the Savior of Rangers, the father of Druids.
The Druid isn’t perfect, and realistically no one expected it to be during its first playable Beta Weekend. But the framework is there, and the House that Druid Built has great bones. Great structure to improve upon. Immense potential. What will Heart of Thorns hold in store for the future of Rangers? No one will know until launch, but we do know they will be a much welcomed addition. So thank you, Irenio. Keep doing what you’re doing. We Rangers will be here to support and chastise guide you. Be sure to include your thanks in this thread as well.
LOL! ???? it’s like, I’m looking at this build thinking “There’s no way this build is going to work” but DANG this build works. Great 1v1 build.
I’d still use pack runes. The buffs apply to allies and the stat bonuses are quite generous.
My only complaints are that cascade of vines needs to be longer than 1 second immobilize and no cast time. Staff 3 wisp form needs to be an evade. The glyphs are good but could do with maybe a 2 second CD reduction on each. Glyph of empowerment should maybe be a 15% increase to justify taking it. Also, we MUST GET A STUN BREAK ON A GLYPH OR MAYBE 2
The only developer we can count on is Irenio.
They talked about adding something extra to Seed of Life. How about poisoning all enemies when the seed detonates?
If anything, they would probably increase the cooldown of Lunar Impact. I’m sure when they first conceptualized specializations they had all these traits purposefully designed to work with elite specialization traits.

Is Cleric armor an answer for WvW/PvE?
It’s hard to say just yet.
We might not need any healing power for druid whatsoever. Its been a while since I’ve looked at healing tests/reports and was wondering if anyone could confirm how well healing power scaled for our heals? (i.e, Will it be worth it to stack it?) It was my understanding from all of the posts that I’ve read in the past, that healing power scaled ridiculously low compared to other stats and was seldom worth stacking, if ever.
The way I see it, the minor advantage we may get from stacking a bit of healing power is well worth the trade-off of ferocity considering we’ll be able to heal that much better. This is just personal speculation. We’ll have to see tomorrow.
That’s probably very true, and it actually brings me a lot of hope. I think the days of seeing “full zerk or kick” are behind us. Now I think groups will be a bit more tolerant of what gear players use. Those highly skilled players with berserker armor will probably be able to squeak by, but others will surely have an easier time.
going to try out Zealot myself. Keeps as much offense while giving healing.
This guy knows. Zealots is the Druid set for sure.
I agree with this but I wouldn’t say FULL zealots. I’d make a case for working in a bit of toughness too. Irenio full on declared that Berserker meta days are over so I interpret that as you need to work in some toughness. A dead healer is a useless healer. I don’t want to get ganked by players or 1-shotted by monsters either.
Oh tragic. I like you. You would be a great politician.
Touché but to such a ludicrous degree? Being able to run full zerker and remain at full health? Well then we’d pretty much be elementalists.

I’d be hard pressed to believe that. If it were true, I can hear the QQ already. Because imagine if you will, that our new healing abilities accomplish so much without HP, only to be buffed even FURTHER by healing power! We’d be unkillable if we bunkered down.
Is Cleric armor an answer for WvW/PvE?
Full clerics armor, cleric rings, zealot trinkets and necklace, berserker back piece. That’s my armor plan for Druid.
The hype is super real. Today, I heard that voice in the back of my head again saying, “Screw it dude, just do it.” Now I proudly own the digital legendary version of HoT. So pumped for Druid, you have no idea.
Druid heals aren’t all melee are they? Celestial form has some range targeted heals and the spammable #1 ability. Druid staff AA also heals for a little bit from long range
I plan on going Staff + LB anyways in WvW. It makes the most sense. I advise others to do the same when zerging. I plan on running a mix between zealots and clerics.
Yeah I was thinking of that too. Maybe the players we heal, we get counted as tagging the enemies the heal recipient attacks?
Maybe a heal skill that works like, “The lower the health of your pet, the more it is healed for” or would that be no feasible?
Guard is just useless except for Regen and swiftness boons from the shout trait. I don’t even know why a skill like guard is in the game
Druid is the new PU Mesmer.
